Let Ω ⊂ ℝ d be a compact convex set of positive measure. In a recent paper, we established a definiteness theory for cubature formulae of order two on Ω. Here we study extremal properties of those positive definite formulae that can be generated by a centroidal Voronoi tessellation of Ω. In this connection we come across a class of operators of the form Ln[f](x): = ?i=1n fi(x)(f(yi) + á?f(yi), x-yi?)L_n[f](\boldsymbol{x}):= \sum_{i=1}^n \phi_i(\boldsymbol{x})(f(\boldsymbol{y}_i) + \langle\nabla f(\boldsymbol{y}_i), \boldsymbol{x}-\boldsymbol{y}_i\rangle), where y1,..., yn\boldsymbol{y}_1,\dots, \boldsymbol{y}_n are distinct points in Ω and {ϕ 1, ..., ϕ n } is a partition of unity on Ω. We present best possible pointwise error estimates and describe operators L n with a smallest constant in an L p error estimate for 1 ≤ p < ∞ . For a generalization, we introduce a new type of Voronoi tessellation in terms of a twice continuously differentiable and strictly convex function f. It allows us to describe a best operator L n for approximating f by L n [f] with respect to the L p norm.  相似文献

By using the perturbation theories on sums of ranges for nonlinear accretive mappings of Calvert and Gupta (1978), the abstract result on the existence of a solution u ∈ Lp (Ω) to nonlinear equations involving p-Laplacian operator △p, where 2N/N 1 < p < ∞ and N (≥ 1 )denotes the dimension of RN,is studied. The equation discussed and the methods shown in the paper are continuation and complement to the corresponding results of Li and Zhen's previous papers. In this paper, the spaceD p(Ω) of functions holomorphic on bounded symmetric domain ofC n is defined. We prove thatH p(Ω)⊂D p(Ω) if 0<p≤2, andD p(Ω)⊂H p(Ω) ifp≥2, and both the inclusions are proper. We consider finite element methods applied to a class of Sobolev equations inR d(d ≥ 1). Global strong superconvergence, which only requires that partitions are quais-uniform, is investigated for the error between the approximate solution and the Ritz-Sobolev projection of the exact solution. We study the sublinear elliptic equation, −Δ u = |u|psgn u + f(x,u) in the bounded domain Ω under the zero Dirichlet boundary condition. We suppose that 0 < p < 1 and |f(x,u)| is small enough near u = 0 and do not suppose that f(x,u) is odd on u. Then we prove that this problem has infinitely many solutions. We first prove two forms of von Neumann’s mean ergodic theorems under the framework of complete random inner product modules. This note deals with the orthogonality between sequences of random variables. The main idea of the note is to apply the results on equidistant systems of points in a Hilbert space to the case of the space L 2(Ω, F, ℙ) of real square integrable random variables. The main result gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a particular sequence of random variables (elements of which are taken from sets of equidistant elements of L 2(Ω, F, ℙ) to be orthogonal to some other sequence in L 2(Ω, F, ℙ). The result obtained is interesting from the point of view of the time series analysis, since it can be applied to a class of sequences random variables that exhibit a monotonically increasing variance. An application to ergodic theorem is also provided.  相似文献
