We investigate the nonlinear optical interaction through a periodic waveguide structure consisting of two alternating segments with different linear and nonlinear optical properties. A coupled equation system has been used to calculate the intensity of fundamental and second harmonic waves and the phase shift of the fundamental. The model has been experimentally tested with good results, but the effect of the phase shift has not been considered. Comparison with the quasi-phase match (QPM) technique has been presented. The novel features introduced by alternating segments with different linear and nonlinear optical properties have been discussed. The model shows a more flexible approach, which can be used in designing optical components based on coherent nonlinear interaction. Applications are straightforward for frequency doubler and all-optical switch.  相似文献

This work designs a four-platelet periodic multicrystal configuration in the second harmonic generation of ultra-short pulses as a new walk-off-compensating device. It theoretically investigates a proposed active and a typical passive compensating scheme with the undepleted-pump approximation. The result shows that the angular and spectral band-widths are proportional to the number of crystal pairs as expected,but the temperature tunability is basically unaltered owing to inter-plate pulse interference. At the same time,an analysis reveals that a misuse of the phase mismatch factor is responsible for a historic controversy about pulse interference. A real design of an ultraviolet second harmonic generation (262.5 nm) is considered in a passive periodic β-Barium Borate-calcite configuration,where the inter-plate pulse interference is found to form an azimuthal tuning restriction and to lower plate length tolerance. A subsequent numerical simulation with pump depletion is in good accordance with theoretical prediction.  相似文献

Frequency doubling of spatially limited laser beams in nonlinear crystals is investigated theoretically. It was shown that the major factor, which reduces the second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency in this case, is a diaphragm aperture effect, caused by influence of extraordinary polarized laser beams. In that case a spatial shift of mutually orthogonally polarized beams of the incident waves relative to each other in perpendicular direction of wave transmission at the entry to crystals lead to increase the efficiency of SHG of limited beams.  相似文献

A computer model has been used to investigate the pulse shape evolution of interacting waves during second harmonic generation and difference-frequency generation processes. Using general assumption and coupled equations theory we describe in detail the back and forth energy transfer in connection with pulse shape. Two type of phase-match (modal phase-match and quasi-phase-match) with experimental relevance are discussed. In the case of quasi-phase-match uniform and chirped grating are discussed. The connection of the model with material properties and non-linear optical (NLO) strength is presented. The proposed model have allowed us to derive the essential feature of pulse shaping and compressing that rely on NLO process only.  相似文献

利用分步快速傅里叶变换和四阶龙格-库塔法,对具有一定温升分布的倍频晶体的二次谐波转换过程进行了研究。综合考虑了谐波转换过程中的离散、衍射、二阶、三阶非线性等效应,着重讨论了倍频晶体吸收光能后,晶体内温升分布对晶体内o光和e光的折射率分布的影响,定量分析了温度分布引起的相位失配量、输出光场分布、二次谐波转换效率随倍频晶体温度分布变化的规律。结果表明:在高功率倍频系统中,倍频晶体温升分布引起基频光、倍频光的相位失配,相位失配导致输出光场光强分布的变化以及谐波转换效率的降低。  相似文献

Abstract

The effects of an off-centre donor impurity on the non-linear optical absorption, second and third harmonic generation in a GaAs two-dimensional disc-shaped quantum ring under magnetic field are investigated within the compact density-matrix formalism and the effective mass approximation. The results reveal that: (i) the absorption spectra extend on larger energy intervals at the increment of the magnetic field; (ii) the possibility of generating second harmonic response from the system is demonstrated for an impurity placed on the repulsive part of the confining potential; (iii) both second harmonic and third harmonic coefficients are one order of magnitude larger for an impurity placed on the repulsive part of the potential and are blue-shifted by the increment of the magnetic field regardless the impurity position.  相似文献

The method of strong interaction of nonlinear waves has been developed to analyse the second harmonic generation of intense laser radiation in the transient regime. Analytic solution for frequency conversion efficiency – taking into account the pump radiation depletion, influence of phase mismatch, dispersion of group velocities and higher nonlinearities – has been first obtained. A comparison of theoretically derived results and known experimental data has been conducted, and a general agreement of these results has been obtained. The optimal conditions of the second harmonic generation of neodymium laser radiation into femtosecond pulse duration range have been determined.  相似文献

The problem of determination of the maximum of second harmonic generation in the potential well containing a rectangular barrier is considered. It is shown that, in general, the problem of finding the ensemble of structures with equidistant first three levels has two types of solutions. For the first type the second and third energy levels are located above a rectangular barrier, and for the second type the third level is located above the barrier only. It is also shown, that generation corresponding to the second type of solution always is less than generation for the first one. Taking into account the effective mass changes the problem of finding the generation maximum for a finite depth well is exactly solved.  相似文献

We consider third harmonic generation in a periodic layered medium with alternate nonlinear media. We show enhanced third harmonic generation when the fundamental frequency matches one of the mode frequencies of the distributed feedback structure. The observed feature is explained in terms of large local field enhancement for the fundamental wave.  相似文献

在考虑光学微腔中二阶和三阶非线性效应的情况下,引入了可同时描述腔内基频和倍频光场的演化过程的Lugiato-Lefeve方程,分析了SiN微腔中二次谐波的产生,并讨论了各参数对腔内基频和倍频光场的影响.理论分析结果表明,失谐参量为0时,稳定后的基频光场为平顶脉冲的形式,而倍频光场呈正弦分布;失谐参量增加,将导致腔内基频和倍频光功率在演化过程中出现振荡,且最终稳定的光功率变弱,稳定后的光场分布为周期性变化;失谐参量的值过大,会使得微腔光场处于混沌状态.抽运光强较弱时,腔内可形成稳定的光场分布;抽运光强较强时,会导致腔内色散以及非线性效应过强,最终稳定的光场仍然呈周期性变化,且抽运光功率越强,光功率的演化曲线振荡越强.此外,选取特定的微腔尺寸,微腔可工作于"图灵环"状态.理论分析结果对研究光学微腔中二次谐波的产生有重要意义.  相似文献

利用非线性传递矩阵方法研究了Voigt位型下电介质/反铁磁/电介质 结构二次谐波生成的非倒易性. 研究发现外加静磁场反向和电介质层排序翻转均对二次谐波输出产生影响, 出现了二次谐波生成的非倒易性. 二次谐波生成非倒易性频率区域在反铁磁共振区, 此区间正处于THz频段. 随着入射角度的增加, 非倒易性的效果越来越明显. 研究二次谐波生成的非倒易性, 可为反铁磁器件的设计加工提供理论支持.  相似文献

A numerical study of second harmonic generation (SHG) in one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals based on full nonlinear system of equations, implemented by a combination of the method of finite elements and fixed-point iterations, is reported. This model is derived from a nonlinear system of Maxwell’s equations, which partly overcomes the known shortcoming of some existing models relied on the undepleted-pump approximation. We derive a general solution of SHG in one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals structures. The convergence of our method is fast. Numerical simulations also show the conversion efficiency of SHG can be significantly enhanced when the frequencies of the fundamental wave are located at the photonic band edges or are assigned to the designed defect states.  相似文献
