Organic Reactions in Ionic Liquids： Ionic Liquid-promoted Efficient Synthesis of Disubstituted and Trisubstituted Thioureas Derivatives

In ionic liquid [Bmim][BF4], a series of disubstituted and trisubstituted thiourea derivatives were synthesized from phenyl and butyl isothiocyanate with a variety of amine in excellent yield.     

Synthesis of 2-Arylimidazo[1, 2-a]pyrimidines in Ionic Liquids

Room temperature ionic liquids were used as a “green“ recyclable alternative to conventional solvents in the synthesis of pharmaceutically useful compounds 2-arylimidazo[1, 2-a]pyrimidines through Tschotschibabin reaction of a-bromoacetophenones with 2-aminopyrimidine in good yields.     

A Facile and Efficient Oxidation of α,β-Unsaturated Alcohols with Manganese Dioxide in Ionic Liquids under Mild Conditions

The oxidation of α,β-unsaturated primary and secondary alcohols to corresponding aldehydes and ketones by manganese dioxide in ionic liquids as a safe recyclable and accelerative reaction medium under mild conditions are described. The rate of the oxidation reaction is faster and the yield is higher than that with conventional procedures.

Organic Reactions in Ionic Liquids: An Efficient Method for Selective S‐Alkylation of 2‐Mercaptobenzothia(xa)zole with Alkyl Halides

Abstract

Ionic liquids based on 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BmimPF₆) and 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BmimBF₄) are used as reusable reaction medium in the selective S‐alkylation of 2‐mercaptobenzothia(xa)zole with alkyl halides in the presence of potassium carbonate. This procedure is convenient, efficient, and generally gives rise to the S‐alkylated product exclusively.

An Environmentally Benign System for Synthesis of β-Hydroxylketones： L-Histidine Asymmetrically Catalyzed Direct Aldol Reactions in Aqueous Micelle and Water-like Media

The first histidine catalyzed direct aldol reactions of ketones with nitrobenzaldehydes in water and in poly（ethylene glycol） （PEG） were reported. It reveals that histidine is a good aldol catalyst for synthesis of β-hydroxylketones in water and in PEG, giving good to excellent yields of the respective products. Better enantioand regioselectivity were achieved using low molecular weight PEG as the media. The results show that histidine and PEG-200 or -300 may constitute a promising environmentally benign system for asymmetric synthesis of β-hydroxylketones.
