SPECTRAL AND SPECTRAL ELEMENT METHODS FOR HIGH ORDER PROBLEMS WITH MIXED BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

In this paper, we investigate numerical methods for high order differential equations. We propose new spectral and spectral element methods for high order problems with mixed inhomogeneous boundary conditions, and prove their spectral accuracy by using the recent results on the Jacobi quasi-orthogonal approximation. Numerical results demonstrate the high accuracy of suggested algorithm, which also works well even for oscillating solutions.     

NONLINEAR BOUNDARY PROBLEMS WITH NONLOCAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

By means of the supersolution and subsolution method and monotone iteration technique, the following nonlinear elliptic boundary problem with the nonlocal boundary conditions is considerd. The sufficient conditions which ensure at least one solution are given. Furthermore, the estimate of the first nonzero eigenvalue for the following linear eigenproblem is obtained, that is λ_1≥2α/(nd~2).

ON DISCRETE SEQUENTIAL FRACTIONAL BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM WITH FRACTIONAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

In this paper we consider a discrete fractional boundary value problem(FBVP for short). We provide a delicate analysis for the property of Green’s function. Our analysis motivates the study of discrete fractional boundary value problems with fractional boundary conditions. As an application, we give conditions under which such problems admit at least one positive solution. Our results extend the results presented in [4].

In this paper, by introducing a new approach, we investigate a discrete fractional boundary value problem. We transform a fractional nonlinear difference equation on a finite discrete segment with boundary conditions into a system, and obtain some conditions for the existence of solutions to the equation, based on coincidence degree theory and matrix theory but not on Green’s function.

EIGENFUNCTION EXPANSION FOR STURM-LIOUVILLE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION CONDITIONS AT ONE INTERIOR POINT

The purpose of this article is to extend some spectral properties of regular SturmLiouville problems to the special type discontinuous boundaxy-value problem,which consists of a Sturm-Liouville equation together with eigenparameter-dependent boundary conditions and two supplementary transmission conditions.We construct the resolvent operator and Green's function and prove theorems about expansions in terms of eigenfunctions in modified Hilbert space L_2[a,b].

SUPERCONVERGENCE ANALYSIS OF THE POLYNOMIAL PRESERVING RECOVERY FOR ELLIPTIC PROBLEMS WITH ROBIN BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

We analyze the superconvergence property of the linear finite element method based on the polynomial preserving recovery(PPR)for Robin boundary elliptic problems on triangulartions.First,we improve the convergence rate between the finite element solution and the linear interpolation under the H1-norm by introducing a class of meshes satisfying the Condition(α,σ,μ).Then we prove the superconvergence of the recovered gradients post-processed by PPR and define an asymptotically exact a posteriori error estimator.Finally,numerical tests are provided to verify the theoretical findings.     

A FOURIER-CHEBYSHEV SPECTRAL METHOD FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL VORTICITY EQUATIONS WITH UNILATERAL PERIODIC BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

A mixed Fourier-Chebyshev spectral method is constructed for three-dimensional vorticity equations with unilateral periodic boundary condition. The generalized stability and the convergence are analyzed. The optimal error estimation is given. The technique in this paper is also suitable for other nonlinear problems.     

椭圆问题的非线性边界条件均匀化

在本文我们讨论了在等值面边值问题中的非线性边界条件的均匀化,推广了相应的边界条件均匀化结果,而且可应用到用于处理热敏电阻问题中的一类非线性非局部边值问题的边界条件均匀化问题。
