The existence of self-dual or anti-self-dual monopoles of a seven-dimensional generalized Yang-Mills-Higgs theory is proved using the second-order equations of motion. The behavior of solutions can be used to recognize self- or anti-self-duality. Moreover, it is shown that, in the class of the field configurations under discussion, the solutions are, in fact, unique.  相似文献

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a static and radially symmetric BPS monopole of unit topological charge in an arbitrary (4p – 1)-dimensional space descended from the generalized Yang–Mills theory in 4p dimensions and formulated and presented in a recent study of Radu and Tchrakian. This monopole solution also gives rise to an electrically and magnetically charged soliton, called dyon, in the same spacetime setting through the well-known Julia–Zee correspondence. Our method is based on a dynamical shooting approach depending on two shooting parameters which provides an effective framework for constructing the BPS monopole and dyon solutions in general dimensions.  相似文献

In the recently discovered Chern-Simons model, the reduction to a Bogomol'nyi bound or self-duality depends crucially on the specific form of the Higgs potential energy function, which is characterized by a 6 type self-interaction. The purpose of this paper is to show that a much wider class of Higgs self-interaction may be allowed to achieve self-duality provided that the kinetic energy term of the Higgs scalar is suitably modified. The existence of topological multivortex solutions is also established. Furthermore, it is remarked that the Meissner effect may occur in the model.  相似文献

The origin of the nontriviality of observables in topological Yang-Mills theory is discussed from the viewpoint that BRST transformation is the exterior derivative. It is proved that the boundary value problems of some sigma-models in a non-Riemannian background have unique solutions. Sigma models on Riemannian backgrounds, sigma models with a Wess-Zumino-Witten term, the Ward model, and the self-dual Yang-Mills equations are among these models.  相似文献

The analysis of 90° vortex-vortex scattering is extended to /n scattering in all head-on collisions ofn vortices in the Abelian Higgs model. A Cauchy problem with initial data that describe the scattering ofn vortices is formulated. It is shown that this Cauchy problem has a unique global finite-energy solution. The symmetry of the solution and the form of the local analytic solution then show that /n scattering is realized.  相似文献

Recently, a self-dual super Yang-Mills equation over a super Reimann surface was obtained as the zero set of a moment map on the space of superconnections to the dual of the super Lie algebra of gauge transformations. We present a new formulation of the 4-dim Euclidean self-dual super Yang-Mills equations in terms of constraints on the supercurvature. By dimensional reduction, we obtain the same set of superconformal field equations which define self-dual connections on a super Rieman surface.  相似文献

Strongly self-dual Yang-Mills fields in even-dimensional spaces are characterised by a set of constraints on the eigenvalues of the Yang-Mills fieldsF . We derive a topological bound on R8, , wherep1 is the first Pontryagin class of the SO(n) Yang-Mills bundle, andk is a constant. The existence of bound states in a plane quantum waveguide is proved under weak conditions: Within a bounded set a more general shape than a curved parallel strip is admitted and the curvature of the reference curve need not be differentiable. Affine CS and WZNW theories with values in infinite-dimensional (loop) groups are proposed. It appears that the affine CS theory naturally introduces a spectral parameter into a CS theory. The Sinh-Gordon, KdV, and nonlinear Schrödinger equations are obtained, via Hamiltonian reductions, from the affine WZNW. It is shown that the self-dual Yang-Mills (SDYM) equation is related to the equation of motion of the affine WZNW and, thus, symmetry algebra underlying the SDYM can be identified with the affine two-loop Kac-Moody algebra of the affine WZNW.K. We propose a general formulation of simplicial lattice gauge theory inspired by the finite element method. Numerical tests of convergence towards continuum results are performed for several SU(2) gauge fields. Additionally, we perform simplicial Monte Carlo quantum gauge field simulations involving measurements of the action as well as differently sized Wilson loops as functions of β.  相似文献

We prove that the distributions defined on the Gelfand-Shilov spacesS with < 1 and, hence, more singular than hyperfunctions, retain the angular localizability property. Specifically, they have uniquely determined support cones. This result enables one to develop a distribution-theoretic technique suitable for the consistent treatment of quantum fields with arbitrarily singular ultraviolet and infrared behavior. We compute the scattering operator for a simplified model of an atom interacting a with a quantized field. The field is restricted to the vacuum and one-particle sectors, and the atom has only two states. We also solve the inverse scattering problem for the same model. The methods used rely on the particular form of the interaction, which is chosen to mimic the interaction between radiation and matter.This work was partially supported by NSF Grant DMS-8922941.  相似文献

A new super Toda lattice hierarchy is proposed and formulated in the language of differential algebra. AD-module structure is shown to exist behind this nonlinear system and to play the same role as a similarD-module for the super KP hierarchy. From the structure of thisD-module, one can indeed see a direct connection with a set of affine coordinates on an infinite-dimensional super Grassmannian manifold. A new, straightforward and systematic approach to construct rational-exponential solutions is proposed. The method is based on the formal perturbation theory. Explicit rational-exponential solutions for the two-dimensional elliptic sine-Gordon and Korteweg-de Vries equations are constructed. The method used is quite general and applicable to most nonlinear evolution equations, including certain multidimensional equations.  相似文献
