The collapse of a spherical (cylindrical) cavity in air is studied analytically. The global solution for the entire domain between the sound front, separating the undisturbed and the disturbed gas, and the vacuum front is constructed in the form of infinite series in time with coefficients depending on an appropriate similarity variable. At timet=0+, the exact planar solution for a uniformly moving cavity is assumed to hold. The global analytic solution of this initial boundary value problem is found until the collapse time (=(–1)/2) for 1+(2/(1+v)), wherev=1 for cylindrical geometry, andv=2 for spherical geometry. For higher values of , the solution series diverge at timet — 2(–1)/ (v(1+)+(1–)2) where =2/(–1). A close agreement is found in the prediction of qualitative features of analytic solution and numerical results of Thomaset al. [1].  相似文献

One considers the total scattering cross section on the potential gV(x), xm, m3, for large values of the coupling constant g and of the wave number k. One assumes that V(x)(x/|1x|)|x|, 2>m+1, as ¦x¦. Summary The concept of hull convexity (midpoint hull convexity) for set-valued functions in vector spaces is examined. This concept, introduced by A. V. Fiacco and J. Kyparisis (Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications,43 (1986), 95–126), is weaker than one of convexity (midpoint convexity).The main result is a sufficient condition for a midpoint hull convex set-valued function to be continuous. This theorem improves a result obtained by K. Nikodem (Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Mathematics,34 (1986), 393–399).  相似文献

It is well- known that a nonoscillatory solution x(t) of (1) satisfies (2) x(t)x(i)(t)>0 (0il), (–1)i–lx(t)x(i)(t)>0 (lin) for some integer l, 0ln, (–1)n–l–1=1. In this paper, for a given l such that 0n–l–1=1, necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are found for (1) to have a solution x(t) which satisfies (2), and a necessary and sufficient condition is established in order that for every >0 the equation x(n)(t)+p(t)x(g(t))=0 (t>a) has a solution x(t) which satisfies (2). In the representation theory of symmetric groups, for each partition of a natural number n, the partition h() of n is defined so as to obtain a certain set of zeros in the table of characters for Sn. Namely, h() is the greatest (under the lexicographic ordering ) partition among P(n) such that (g) 0. Here, is an irreducible character of Sn, indexed by a partition , and g is a conjugacy class of elements in Sn, indexed by a partition . We point out an extra set of zeros in the table that we are dealing with. For every non self-associated partition P(n), the partition f() of n is defined so that f() is greatest among the partitions of n which are opposite in sign to h() and are such that (g) 0 (Thm. 1). In the present note a theorem about strong suitability of the space of algebraic polynomials of degree n in C[a,b] (Theorem A in [1]) is generalized to the space of spline polynomials [a, b ]n, k (n2, 0) in C[a, b]. Let (Xt(),t0) be the BESQ process starting at x. We are interested in large deviations as for the family {–1Xt(),tT}, – or, more generally, for the family of squared radial OU process. The main properties of this family allow us to develop three different approaches: an exponential martingale method, a Cramér–type theorem, thanks to a remarkable additivity property, and a Wentzell–Freidlin method, with the help of McKean results on the controlled equation. This paper starts from a self-adjoint Schrödinger operator H(0) for three particles. If the interaction is dilation-analytic, H(0) has an analytic continuation H() (>0).
