Let ${{\mathbb H}_n, n \geq 1}$ , be the near 2n-gon defined on the 1-factors of the complete graph on 2n?+?2 vertices, and let e denote the absolutely universal embedding of ${{\mathbb H}_n}$ into PG(W), where W is a ${\frac{1}{n+2} \left(\begin{array}{c}2n+2 \\ n+1\end{array}\right)}$ -dimensional vector space over the field ${{\mathbb F}_2}$ with two elements. For every point z of ${{\mathbb H}_n}$ and every ${i \in {\mathbb N}}$ , let Δ i (z) denote the set of points of ${{\mathbb H}_n}$ at distance i from z. We show that for every pair {x, y} of mutually opposite points of ${{\mathbb H}_n, W}$ can be written as a direct sum ${W_0 \oplus W_1 \oplus \cdots \oplus W_n}$ such that the following four properties hold for every ${i \in \{0,\ldots,n \}}$ : (1) ${\langle e(\Delta_i(x) \cap \Delta_{n-i}(y)) \rangle = {\rm PG}(W_i)}$ ; (2) ${\left\langle e \left( \bigcup_{j \leq i} \Delta_j(x) \right) \right\rangle = {\rm PG}(W_0 \oplus W_1 \oplus \cdots \oplus W_i)}$ ; (3) ${\left\langle e \left( \bigcup_{j \leq i} \Delta_j(y) \right) \right\rangle = {\rm PG}(W_{n-i}\oplus W_{n-i+1} \oplus \cdots \oplus W_n)}$ ; (4) ${\dim(W_i) = |\Delta_i(x) \cap \Delta_{n-i}(y)| = \left(\begin{array}{c}n \\ i\end{array}\right)^2 - \left(\begin{array}{c}n \\ i-1\end{array}\right) \cdot \left(\begin{array}{c}n \\ i+1\end{array}\right)}$ .  相似文献

We show that every surface in the component \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) , that is the moduli space of pairs \({(M,\omega)}\) where M is a genus three hyperelliptic Riemann surface and \({\omega}\) is an Abelian differential having a single zero on M, is either a Veech surface or a generic surface, i.e. its \({{\rm GL}^{+}(2,\mathbb{R})}\) -orbit is either a closed or a dense subset of \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) . The proof develops new techniques applicable in general to the problem of classifying orbit closures, especially in low genus. Combined with work of Matheus and the second author, a corollary is that there are at most finitely many non-arithmetic Teichmüller curves (closed orbits of surfaces not covering the torus) in \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) .  相似文献

In the present study, we consider isometric immersions ${f : M \rightarrow \tilde{M}(c)}$ of (2n + 1)-dimensional invariant submanifold M 2n+1 of (2m + 1) dimensional Sasakian space form ${\tilde{M}^{2m+1}}$ of constant ${ \varphi}$ -sectional curvature c. We have shown that if f satisfies the curvature condition ${\overset{\_}{R}(X, Y) \cdot \sigma =Q(g, \sigma)}$ then either M 2n+1 is totally geodesic, or ${||\sigma||^{2}=\frac{1}{3}(2c+n(c+1)),}$ or ${||\sigma||^{2}(x) > \frac{1}{3}(2c+n(c+1)}$ at some point x of M 2n+1. We also prove that ${\overset{\_ }{R}(X, Y)\cdot \sigma = \frac{1}{2n}Q(S, \sigma)}$ then either M 2n+1 is totally geodesic, or ${||\sigma||^{2}=-\frac{2}{3}(\frac{1}{2n}\tau -\frac{1}{2}(n+2)(c+3)+3)}$ , or ${||\sigma||^{2}(x) > -\frac{2}{3}(\frac{1}{2n} \tau (x)-\frac{1}{2} (n+2)(c+3)+3)}$ at some point x of M 2n+1.  相似文献

In a precedent article we constructed various topological regular parallelisms of the real projective 3-space \({{\rm PG}(3, \mathbb{R})}\) via hyperflock determining line sets of \({{\rm PG}(5, \mathbb{R})}\) (see Betten and Riesinger in Mh Math 161:43–58, 2010). In the present paper we discuss for some of these parallelisms their automorphism groups consisting of all automorphic collineations and all automorphic dualities, especially we compute their group dimension. Thus we are able to present: (1) topological regular 5-dimensional parallelisms of \({{\rm PG}(3, \mathbb{R})}\) of group dimension 0, (2) topological regular 4-dimensional parallelisms of \({{\rm PG}(3, \mathbb{R})}\) of group dimension 0 or 1, (3) topological regular 3-dimensional parallelisms of \({{\rm PG}(3, \mathbb{R})}\) of group dimension 1.  相似文献

Let ${\mathfrak{a}}$ be an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring R and M a finitely generated R-module. It is shown that ${{\rm Ann}_R(H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} M}(M))= {\rm Ann}_R(M/T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M))}$ , where ${T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M)}$ is the largest submodule of M such that ${{\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, T_R(\mathfrak{a}, M)) < {\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, M)}$ . Several applications of this result are given. Among other things, it is shown that there exists an ideal ${\mathfrak{b}}$ of R such that ${{\rm Ann}_R(H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} M}(M))={\rm Ann}_R(M/H_{\mathfrak{b}}^{0}(M))}$ . Using this, we show that if ${ H_{\mathfrak{a}}^{{\rm dim} R}(R)=0}$ , then ${{{\rm Att}_R} H^{{\rm dim} R-1}_{\mathfrak a}(R)= \{\mathfrak{p} \in {\rm Spec} R | \,{\rm cd}(\mathfrak{a}, R/\mathfrak{p}) = {\rm dim} R-1\}.}$ These generalize the main results of Bahmanpour et al. (see [2, Theorem 2.6]), Hellus (see [7, Theorem 2.3]), and Lynch (see [10, Theorem 2.4]).  相似文献

We introduce an irrational factor of order k defined by \({I_{k}(n) ={\prod_{i=1}^{l}} p_{i}^{\beta_{i}}}\) , where \({n = \prod_{i=1}^{l} p_{i}^{\alpha_{i}}}\) is the factorization of n and \({\beta_{i} = \left\{\begin{array}{ll}\alpha_i, \quad \quad {\rm if} \quad \alpha_i < k \\ \frac{1}{\alpha_i},\quad \quad {\rm if} \quad \alpha_i \geqq k \end{array}\right.}\) . It turns out that the function \({\frac{I_{k} (n)}{n}}\) well approximates the characteristic function of k-free integers. We also derive asymptotic formulas for \({\prod_{v=1}^{n} I_{k}(v)^{\frac{1}{n}}, \sum_{n \leqq x} I_{k}(n)}\) and \({\sum_{n \leqq x} (1 - \frac{n}{x}) I_{k}(n)}\) .  相似文献

We study the Cox ring of the moduli space of stable pointed rational curves, ${\overline{M}_{0,n}}$ , via the closely related permutohedral (or Losev-Manin) spaces ${\overline{L}_{n-2}}$ . Our main result establishes $\left(\begin{array}{ll} n \\ 2 \end{array}\right)$ polynomial subrings of ${{\rm Cox}(\overline{M}_{0,n})}$ , thus giving collections of boundary variables that intersect the ideal of relations of ${{\rm Cox}(\overline{M}_{0,n})}$ trivially. As applications, we give a combinatorial way to partially solve the Riemann-Roch problem for ${\overline{M}_{0,n}}$ , and we show that all relations in degrees of ${{\rm Cox}(\overline{M}_{0,6})}$ arising from certain pull-backs from projective spaces are generated by the Plücker relations.  相似文献

Generalizing two results of Rieger [8] and Selberg [10] we give asymptotic formulas for sums of type $${\matrix {\sum \limits_{n\leq x}\cr n\equiv l({\rm mod}k)\cr f_{\kappa}(n)\equiv s_{\kappa}({\rm mod}p_{\kappa})\cr (\kappa=1,\dots,r)\cr}}\qquad \chi(n)\qquad {\rm and} {\matrix {\sum \limits_{n\leq x}\cr n\equiv l({\rm mod}k)\cr f_{\kappa}(n)\equiv s_{\kappa}({\rm mod}p_{\kappa})\cr (\kappa=1,\dots,r)\cr}}\qquad \chi(n),$$ where χ is a suitable multiplicative function, f1,…, f r are “small” additive, prime-independent arithmetical functions and k, l are coprime. The proofs are based on an analytic method which consists of considering the Dirichlet series generated by $ \chi(n)z_{1}^{f_{1}(n)}\cdot... \cdot z_{r}^{f_{r}(n)},z_{1}\dots z_{r} $ complex.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a class of functions contained in the disc algebra \({\mathcal{A}(D)}\) . We study functions \({f \in \mathcal{A}(D)}\) which have the property that the continuous periodic function \({u = {\rm Re}f|_{\mathbb{T}}}\) , where \({\mathbb{T}}\) is the unit circle, is nowhere differentiable. We prove that this class is non-empty and instead, generically, every function \({f \in \mathcal{A}(D)}\) has the above property. Afterwards, we strengthen this result by proving that, generically, for every function \({f \in \mathcal{A}(D)}\) , both continuous periodic functions \({u = {\rm Re}f|_\mathbb{T}}\) and \({\tilde{u} = {\rm Im}f|_\mathbb{T}}\) are nowhere differentiable. We avoid any use of the Weierstrass function and we mainly use Baire’s Category Theorem.  相似文献

Let Ω n denote the volume of the unit ball in ${\mathbb{R}^n}$ for ${n\in\mathbb{N}}$ . In the present paper, the authors prove that the sequence ${\Omega_{n}^{1/(n\,{\rm ln}\,n)}}$ is logarithmically convex and that the sequence ${\frac{\Omega_{n}^{1/(n\,{\rm ln}\,n)}}{\Omega_{n+1}^{1/[(n+1)\,{\rm ln}(n+1)]}}}$ is strictly decreasing for n ≥ 2. In addition, some monotonic and concave properties of several functions relating to Ω n are extended and generalized.  相似文献

Let \({C \subset \mathbb{R}^n}\) be a compact convex body. We prove that there exists an n-simplex \({S\subset \mathbb{R}^n}\) enclosing C such that \({{\rm Vol}(S) \leq n^{n-1} {\rm Vol}(C)}\) .  相似文献

An almost quaternion-Hermitian structure on a Riemannian manifold $(M^{4n},g)$ is a reduction of the structure group of $M$ to $\mathrm{Sp}(n)\mathrm{Sp}(1)\subset \text{ SO }(4n)$ . In this paper we show that a compact simply connected homogeneous almost quaternion-Hermitian manifold of non-vanishing Euler characteristic is either a Wolf space, or $\mathbb{S }^2\times \mathbb{S }^2$ , or the complex quadric $\text{ SO }(7)/\mathrm{U}(3)$ .  相似文献

In this note we prove the following: Let n?≥ 2 be a fixed integer. A system of additive functions ${A_{1},A_{2},\ldots,A_{n}:\mathbb{R} \to\mathbb{R}}$ is linearly dependent (as elements of the ${\mathbb{R}}$ vector space ${\mathbb{R}^{\mathbb{R}}}$ ), if and only if, there exists an indefinite quadratic form ${Q:\mathbb{R}^{n}\to\mathbb{R} }$ such that ${Q(A_{1}(x),A_{2}(x),\ldots,A_{n}(x))\geq 0}$ or ${Q(A_{1}(x),A_{2}(x),\ldots,A_{n}(x))\leq 0}$ holds for all ${x\in\mathbb{R}}$ .  相似文献

We consider a variant of the Cops and Robber game, in which the robber has unbounded speed, i.e., can take any path from her vertex in her turn, but she is not allowed to pass through a vertex occupied by a cop. Let ${c_{\infty}(G)}$ denote the number of cops needed to capture the robber in a graph G in this variant. We characterize graphs G with c ??(G) =? 1, and give an ${O( \mid V(G)\mid^2)}$ algorithm for their detection. We prove a lower bound for c ?? of expander graphs, and use it to prove three things. The first is that if ${np \geq 4.2 {\rm log}n}$ then the random graph ${G= \mathcal{G}(n, p)}$ asymptotically almost surely has ${\eta_{1}/p \leq \eta_{2}{\rm log}(np)/p}$ , for suitable positive constants ${\eta_{1}}$ and ${\eta_{2}}$ . The second is that a fixed-degree random regular graph G with n vertices asymptotically almost surely has ${c_{\infty}(G) = \Theta(n)}$ . The third is that if G is a Cartesian product of m paths, then ${n/4km^2 \leq c_{\infty}(G) \leq n/k}$ , where ${n = \mid V(G)\mid}$ and k is the number of vertices of the longest path.  相似文献

Let \({q\geqq2}\) be an integer and denote S(n) the sum of the digits in base q of the positive integer n. Our main result is to estimate the sum \({\Sigma_{n\leqq x}\tilde{\omega}(n)}\) where \({\tilde{\omega}(n)}\) is the number of distinct prime factors p of n such that \({S(p) \equiv a \,{\rm mod} \,b \,(a \in \mathbb{Z}, b\geqq 2)}\) .  相似文献

For ${N = 1, 2,\ldots,}$ let S N be a simple random sample of size n = n N from a population A N of size N, where ${0 \leq n \leq N}$ . Then with f N n/N, the sampling fraction, and 1 A the inclusion indicator that ${A \in S_N}$ , for any ${H \subset A_N}$ of size ${k \geq 0}$ , the high order correlations $${\rm Corr}(k) = E \big(\mathop{\Pi}\limits_{A \in H} ({\bf 1}_A - f_N )\big)$$ depend only on k, and if the sampling fraction ${f_N \rightarrow f}$ as ${N \rightarrow \infty}$ , then $$N^{k/2}{\rm Corr}(k) \rightarrow [f (f - 1)]^{k/2}EZ^{k}, k \,{\rm even}$$ and $$N^{(k+1)/2}{\rm Corr}(k) \rightarrow [f (f - 1)]^{(k-1)/2}(2f - 1)\frac{1}{3}(k - 1)EZ^{k+1}, k \,{\rm odd}$$ where Z is a standard normal random variable. This proves a conjecture given in [2].  相似文献

We investigate the geometry of π 1-injective surfaces in closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds. First we prove that for any ${\epsilon > 0}$ , if the manifold M has sufficiently large systole sys1(M), the genus of any such surface in M is bounded below by ${{\rm exp}((\frac{1}{2} - \epsilon){\rm sys}_1(M))}$ . Using this result we show, in particular, that for congruence covers M i M of a compact arithmetic hyperbolic 3-manifold we have: (a) the minimal genus of π 1-injective surfaces satisfies ${{\rm log} \, {\rm sysg}(M_i) \gtrsim \frac{1}{3} {\rm log} \, {\rm vol}(M_i) ; (b)}$ there exist such sequences with the ratio Heegard ${{\rm genus}(M_i)/{\rm sysg}(M_i) \gtrsim {\rm vol}(M_i)^{1/2}}$ ; and (c) under some additional assumptions π 1(M i ) is k-free with ${{\rm log} \, k \gtrsim \frac{1}{3}{\rm sys}_1(M_i)}$ . The latter resolves a special case of a conjecture of Gromov.  相似文献
