We study the density of closed geodesics property on 2-step nilmanifolds Γ\N, where N is a simply connected 2-step nilpotent Lie group with a left invariant Riemannian metric and Lie algebra ?, and Γ is a lattice in N. We show the density of closedgeodesics property holds for quotients of singular, simply connected, 2-step nilpotent Lie groups N which are constructed using irreducible representations of the compact Lie group SU(2). We obtain two versions of ODEs for the control function of normal geodesics for left-invariant sub-Riemannian metrics on Lie groups, involving only the structure of the Lie algebras of these groups. The first version is applicable to all Lie groups, while the second, to all matrix Lie groups; both versions are different invariant forms of the Hamiltonian system of the Pontryagin maximum principle for a left-invariant time-optimal problem on a Lie group. Basing on the first version, we find sufficient conditions for the normality of all geodesics of a given sub-Finslerian metric on a Lie group; in particular, we show that all three-dimensional Lie groups possess this property. The proofs use simple techniques of linear algebra.  相似文献

We establish a one-to-one correspondence between the processes taking values on the Lie group and its Lie algebra. This correspondence preserves the main properties of the processes: semimartingale property with respect to a certain flow, independence of increments, and continuity.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 45, No. 2, pp. 251–257, February, 1993.  相似文献

Finite loop spaces are a generalization of compact Lie groups. However, they do not enjoy all of the nice properties of compact Lie groups. For example, having a maximal torus is a quite distinguished property. Actually, an old conjecture, due to Wilkerson, says that every connected finite loop space with a maximal torus is equivalent to a compact connected Lie group. We give some more evidence for this conjecture by showing that the associated action of the Weyl group on the maximal torus always represents the Weyl group as a crystallographic group. We also develop the notion of normalizers of maximal tori for connected finite loop spaces, and prove for a large class of connected finite loop spaces that a connected finite loop space with maximal torus is equivalent to a compact connected Lie group if it has the right normalizer of the maximal torus. Actually, in the cases under consideration the information about the Weyl group is sufficient to give the answer. All this is done by first studying the analogous local problems.

We solve the group classification problem for nonlinear hyperbolic systems of differential equations. The admissible continuous group of transformations has the Lie algebra of dimension less than 5. This main statement follows from the principal property of the defining equations of the admissible Lie algebra: the commutator of two solutions is a solution. Using equivalence transformations we classify nonlinear systems in accordance with the well-known Lie algebra structures of dimension 3 and 4.

We shall prove some stability property of the graded Lie algebraD n of certain derivations associated with pure sphere braid group onn strings; in fact, thatD n forn≥6. These Lie algebrasD n are connected with some bigl-adic Galois representations, and the stability property is related to some conjecture of Grothendieck.  相似文献

In this paper we give a group classification for a dissipation-modified Korteweg-de Vries equation by means of the Lie method of the infinitesimals. We prove that, by using the nonclassical method, we get several new solutions which are unobtainable by Lie classical symmetries. We obtain nonclassical symmetries that reduce the dissipation-modified Korteweg-de Vries equation to ordinary equations with the Painlevé property. These solutions have not been derived elsewhere by the singular manifold method.  相似文献

We consider a class of nonlocal operators associated with an action of a compact Lie group G on a smooth closed manifold. Ellipticity condition and Fredholm property for elliptic operators are obtained. This class of operators is studied using pseudodifferential uniformization, which reduces the problem to a pseudodifferential operator acting in sections of infinite-dimensional bundles.  相似文献

Summary We study complex manifolds, which satisfy the following property: there exists a compact K such that M-K is Kobayashi-hyperbolic. In section 2, we study in some detail the case when M is homogeneous under the action of a complex Lie group. In section 3, we give some results when M is homogeneous under the action of a real Lie group of holomorphic transformations. Entrata in Redazione il 15 luglio 1997.  相似文献

In this paper, we continue to investigate some properties of the family Γ of finite-dimensional simple modular Lie superalgebras which were constructed by X. N. Xu, Y. Z. Zhang, L. Y. Chen (2010). For each algebra in the family, a filtration is defined and proved to be invariant under the automorphism group. Then an intrinsic property is proved by the invariance of the filtration; that is, the integer parameters in the definition of Lie superalgebras Γ are intrinsic. Thereby, we classify these Lie superalgebras in the sense of isomorphism. Finally, we study the associative forms and Killing forms of these Lie superalgebras and determine which superalgebras in the family are restrictable.  相似文献

This work concerns the invariant Lorentzian metrics on the Heisenberg Lie group of dimension three ${{\rm H}_3(\mathbb{R})}$ and the bi-invariant metrics on the solvable Lie groups of dimension four. We start with the indecomposable Lie groups of dimension four admitting bi-invariant metrics and which act on ${{\rm H}_3(\mathbb{R})}$ by isometries and we study some geometrical features on these spaces. On ${{\rm H}_3(\mathbb{R})}$ , we prove that the property of the metric being proper naturally reductive is equivalent to the property of the center being non-degenerate. These metrics are Lorentzian algebraic Ricci solitons.  相似文献

A criterion for a wide class of topological groups which includes linear discrete groups and Lie groups to be Tychonoff groups is established. The main result provides a criterion for an almost polycyclic group to have the Tychonoff property. By the well-known Tits alternative, this yields the required criterion for linear discrete groups. In conclusion it is pointed out that a particular case of the presented proof yields a Tychonoff property criterion for Lie groups. In addition, an example of a polycyclic group without Tychonoff subgroups of finite index is constructed. Translated fromMatematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 63, No. 2, pp. 269–279, February, 1998. We introduce the concept of a type of action. Various types of group actions and actions of Lie ε-algebras are examined. The main result is the classification of types of action F of Lie ε-algebras with the property that for all Lie ε-algebras L, F(L), as an algebra, is the bozonization of L. The paper is devoted to the study of geodesic orbit Riemannian spaces that could be characterized by the property that any geodesic is an orbit of a 1-parameter group of isometries. In particular, we discuss some important totally geodesic submanifolds that inherit the property to be geodesic orbit. For a given geodesic orbit Riemannian space, we describe the structure of the nilradical and the radical of the Lie algebra of the isometry group. In the final part, we discuss some new tools to study geodesic orbit Riemannian spaces, related to compact Lie group representations with non-trivial principal isotropy algebras. We discuss also some new examples of geodesic orbit Riemannian spaces, new methods to obtain such examples, and some unsolved questions.  相似文献

Results of computer experiments on the study of properties of generic Lie subalgebras with two generators in the Lie algebra of nilpotent matrices whose order does not exceed 10 are presented. The calculations carried out have made it possible to formulate several statements (so-called virtual theorems) on properties of the Lie subalgebras in question. The dimensions of the lower and upper central series and of the series of commutator subalgebras and the characteristic nilpotency property of the Lie subalgebras constructed here and of generic Lie subalgebras of codimension 1 in these Lie subalgebras are studied.

We define and study the property finite presentability in the category  of Hopf algebras that are smash product of universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra by a group algebra. We show that for such Hopf algebras finite presentability is equivalent with finite presentability as an associative k-algebra.  相似文献

Given a norm on a finite dimensional vector space V, we may consider the group of all linear automorphisms which preserve it. The Lie algebra of this group is a Lie subalgebra of the endomorphism algebra of V having two properties: (1) it is the Lie algebra of a compact subgroup, and (2) it is “saturated” in a sence made precise below. We show that any Lie subalgebra satisfying these conditions is the Lie algebra of the group of linear automorphisms preserving some norm. There is an appendix on elementary Lie group theory.  相似文献

In this work, Lie group theoretic method is used to carry out the similarity reduction and solitary wave solutions of (2 + 1)-dimensional Date–Jimbo–Kashiwara–Miwa (DJKM) equation. The equation describes the propagation of nonlinear dispersive waves in inhomogeneous media. Under the invariance property of Lie groups, the infinitesimal generators for the governing equation have been obtained. Thereafter, commutator table, adjoint table, invariant functions, and one-dimensional optimal system of subalgebras are derived by using Lie point symmetries. The symmetry reductions and some group invariant solutions of the DJKM equation are obtained based on some subalgebras. The obtained solutions are new and more general than the rest while known results reported in the literature. In order to show the physical affirmation of the results, the obtained solutions are supplemented through numerical simulation. Thus, the solitary wave, doubly soliton, multi soliton, and dark soliton profiles of the solutions are traced to make this research physically meaningful.  相似文献

Let X be an F-rational nilpotent element in the Lie algebra of a connected and reductive group G defined over the ground field F. Suppose that the Lie algebra has a non-degenerate invariant bilinear form. We show that the unipotent radical of the centralizer of X is F-split. This property has several consequences. When F is complete with respect to a discrete valuation with either finite or algebraically closed residue field, we deduce a uniform proof that G(F) has finitely many nilpotent orbits in (F). When the residue field is finite, we obtain a proof that nilpotent orbital integrals converge. Under some further (fairly mild) assumptions on G, we prove convergence for arbitrary orbital integrals on the Lie algebra and on the group. The convergence of orbital integrals in the case where F has characteristic 0 was obtained by Deligne and Ranga Rao (1972).  相似文献
