The production of dijets with a leading neutron in ep interactions at HERA is calculated in leading order and next-to-leading
order of perturbative QCD using a pion-exchange model. Differential cross sections for deep-inelastic scattering and photoproduction
are presented as a function of several kinematic variables. By comparing the theoretical predictions for DIS dijets to recent
H1 data, the pion flux factor together with the parton distribution functions of the pion is determined. The dijet cross sections
in photoproduction show factorization breaking if compared to the H1 photoproduction data. The suppression factor is S=0.48
(0.64) for resolved (global) suppression.

Differential dijet cross sections have been measured with the ZEUS detector for photoproduction events in which the hadronic
final state containing the jets is separated with respect to the outgoing proton direction by a large rapidity gap. The cross
section has been measured as a function of the fraction of the photon () and pomeron () momentum participating in the production of the dijet system. The observed dependence shows evidence for the presence of a resolved- as well as a direct-photon component. The measured cross section
increases as increases indicating that there is a sizeable contribution to dijet production from those events in which a large fraction
of the pomeron momentum participates in the hard scattering. These cross sections and the ZEUS measurements of the diffractive
structure function can be described by calculations based on parton densities in the pomeron which evolve according to the
QCD evolution equations and include a substantial hard momentum component of gluons in the pomeron.

Measurements are presented of differential dijet cross sections in diffractive photoproduction (Q2<0.01 GeV2) and deep-inelastic scattering processes (DIS, 4<Q2<80 GeV2). The event topology is given by ep→eXY, in which the system X, containing at least two jets, is separated from a leading
low-mass baryonic system Y by a large rapidity gap. The dijet cross sections are compared with NLO QCD predictions based on
diffractive parton densities previously obtained from a QCD analysis of inclusive diffractive DIS cross sections by H1. In
DIS, the dijet data are well described, supporting the validity of QCD factorisation. The diffractive DIS dijet data are more
sensitive to the diffractive gluon density at high fractional parton momentum than the measurements of inclusive diffractive
DIS. In photoproduction, the predicted dijet cross section has to be multiplied by a factor of approximately 0.5 for both
direct and resolved photon interactions to describe the measurements. The ratio of measured dijet cross section to NLO prediction
in photoproduction is a factor 0.5±0.1 smaller than the same ratio in DIS. This suppression is the first clear observation
of QCD hard scattering factorisation breaking at HERA. The measurements are also compared to the two soft colour neutralisation
models SCI and GAL. The SCI model describes diffractive dijet production in DIS but not in photoproduction. The GAL model
fails in both kinematic regions. 相似文献

Inclusive photoproduction of mesons has been measured for photon-proton centre-of-mass energies in the range GeV and photon virtuality 1 GeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 37 pb. Total and differential cross sections as functions of the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity are presented in restricted kinematical regions and the data are compared with next-to-leading
order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculations using the “massive charm” and “massless charm” schemes. The measured cross sections
are generally above the NLO calculations, in particular in the forward (proton) direction. The large data sample also allows
the study of dijet production associated with charm. A significant resolved as well as a direct photon component contribute
to the cross section. Leading order QCD Monte Carlo calculations indicate that the resolved contribution arises from a significant
charm component in the photon. A massive charm NLO parton level calculation yields lower cross sections compared to the measured
results in a kinematic region where the resolved photon contribution is significant.

Recent H1 data on triple differential dijet cross sections in
interactions in the region of low photon virtualities are shown to be in reasonable agreement with the predictions of the NLO QCD calculations obtained using the program NLOJET + + . The implications of this observation for the phenomenological relevance of the concept of resolved virtual photon are discussed.Received: 10 January 2005, Published online: 9 March 2005 相似文献

The triple-differential dijet cross-section, , is measured with the H1 detector at HERA as a function of the photon virtuality , the fraction of the photon's momentum carried by the parton entering the hard scattering, , and the square of the mean transverse energy, , of the two highest jets. Jets are found using a longitudinal boost-invariant clustering algorithm in the center of mass frame. The measurements cover the ranges GeV in virtuality and in inelasticity y. The results are well described by leading order QCD models which include the effects of a resolved component to the virtual
photon. Models which treat the photon as point-like fail to describe the data. An effective leading order parton density for
the virtual photon is extracted as a function of the photon virtuality, the probing scale and the parton momentum fraction.
The and probing scale dependences of the parton density show characteristic features of photon structure, and a suppression of
this structure with increasing is seen.

A measurement of the beauty production cross section in ep collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 319 GeV is presented. The data were collected with the H1 detector at the HERA collider in the years 1999-2000. Events are selected by requiring the presence of jets and muons in the final state. Both the long lifetime and the large mass of b-flavoured hadrons are exploited to identify events containing beauty quarks. Differential cross sections are measured in photoproduction, with photon virtualities Q2 < 1 GeV2, and in deep inelastic scattering, where 2 < Q2 < 100 GeV2. The results are compared with perturbative QCD calculations to leading and next-to-leading order. The predictions are found to be somewhat lower than the data.Received: 7 February 2005, Revised: 26 April 2005, Published online: 31 May 2005 相似文献

Jet substructure and differential cross sections for jets produced in the photoproduction and deep inelastic ep scattering regimes have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 82.2 pb−1. The substructure of jets has been studied in terms of the jet shape and subjet multiplicity for jets with transverse energies . The data are well described by the QCD calculations. The jet shape and subjet multiplicity are used to tag gluon- and quark-initiated jets. Jet cross sections as functions of , jet pseudorapidity, the jet–jet scattering angle, dijet invariant mass and the fraction of the photon energy carried by the dijet system are presented for gluon- and quark-tagged jets. The data exhibit the behaviour expected from the underlying parton dynamics. A value of αs(MZ) of was extracted from the measurements of jet shapes in deep inelastic scattering. 相似文献

A measurement of charm and beauty dijet photoproduction cross sections at the ep collider HERA is presented. Events are selected
with two or more jets of transverse momentum pt
jet1(2)>11(8) GeV in the central range of pseudo-rapidity -0.9<ηjet1(2)<1.3. The fractions of events containing charm and beauty quarks are determined using a method based on the impact parameter,
in the transverse plane, of tracks to the primary vertex, as measured by the H1 central vertex detector. Differential dijet
cross sections for charm and beauty, and their relative contributions to the flavour inclusive dijet photoproduction cross
section, are measured as a function of the transverse momentum of the leading jet, the average pseudo-rapidity of the two
jets and the observable xγ
obs. Taking into account the theoretical uncertainties, the charm cross sections are consistent with a QCD calculation in next-to-leading
order, while the predicted cross sections for beauty production are somewhat lower than the measurement. 相似文献

The cross section for dijet photoproduction at high transverse energies is presented as a function of the transverse energies
and the pseudorapidities of the jets. The measurement is performed using a sample of ep-interactions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.3 pb, recorded by the ZEUS detector. Jets are defined by applying a -clustering algorithm to the hadrons observed in the final state. The measured cross sections are compared to next-to-leading
order QCD calculations. In a kinematic regime where theoretical uncertainties are expected to be small, the measured cross
sections are higher than these calculations.

The dijet cross section in photoproduction has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity
of 38.6 pb. The events were required to have a virtuality of the incoming photon, , of less than 1 GeV and a photon-proton centre-of-mass energy in the range GeV. Each event contains at least two jets satisfying transverse-energy requirements of GeV and GeV and pseudorapidity requirements of \mbox{}. The measurements are compared to next-to-leading-order QCD predictions. The data show particular sensitivity to the density
of partons in the photon, allowing the validity of the current parameterisations to be tested.

The differential cross section for γ-deuteron Compton scattering from a tensor polarized deuteron is computed in an effective field theory. The first non-vanishing contributions to this differential cross section are the interference terms between the leading electric coupling diagrams and the subleading single potential pion exchange diagrams or the subleading magnetic moment coupling diagrams. At 90° photon scattering angle, only the pion term contributes at this order to the tensor polarized differential cross section. This provides a clean way to study the photon pion dynamics in the two nucleon sector. The effect is measurable for photon energies between 40 and 80 MeV provided the uncertainty in the measured cross sections are ≲ 7%. 相似文献

We compute the charm dijet photoproduction cross section at next-to-leading order of QCD in the zero-mass variable flavour
number scheme, i.e. with active charm quarks in the proton and photon. The results are compared to recent measurements from
the ZEUS experiment at HERA. The predictions for various distributions agree with the data, in particular for large momentum
fractions of the partons in the photon, where direct photon processes dominate. At low momentum fractions, the predictions
are quite sensitive to the charm content in the photon. The experimental data are shown to favour parameterizations with a
substantial charm-quark density such as the one proposed by Cornet et al. 相似文献

Dijet events in photon-proton collisions in which there is a large pseudorapidity separation between the two highest jets are studied with the H1 detector at HERA. The inclusive dijet cross sections are measured as functions of the longitudinal
momentum fractions of the proton and photon which participate in the production of the jets, and respectively, , the pseudorapidity separation between the two highest jets, and , the total summed transverse energy between the jets. Rapidity gap events are defined as events in which is less than , for varied between 0.5 and 2.0 GeV. The fraction of dijet events with a rapidity gap is measured differentially in , and . An excess of events with rapidity gaps at low values of is observed above the expectation from standard photoproduction processes. This excess can be explained by the exchange of
a strongly interacting colour singlet object between the jets.
