The circular polarizationP γ of 478 keVγ quanta from the reaction Li6(d, pγ) Li7 with 2 MeV deuterons was measured by forward Compton scattering from magnetized iron. The protons were observed at 25° lab angle. The fast neutron background in theγ detector was suppressed by pulse shape discrimination. The resultP γ=+ 0.022 ± 0.17 with the Basel sign convention confines the ratio of the reduced widthsΘ ± for the capture of the neutron withj=1±1/2 to the regions ?2.36≦Θ +/Θ ?≦?0.74 or ?0.06≦Θ +/Θ ?≦+0.61.  相似文献

Double beta decay (β + EC, EC/EC) of 58Ni is investigated at France’s Modane Underground Laboratory (4800 m water equivalent) using the OBELIX ultralow-background HPGe detector with a sensitive volume of 600 cm3 and a natural nickel sample of ~68% 58Ni with a mass of ~21.7 kg. After preliminary analysis of the experimental data accumulated over ~144 days, new experimental limits are obtained for the 2νβ+EC decay of 58Ni to the 0+ ground state and the 2 1 + , 811 keV excited state of 58Fe, and for the 2νEC/EC decay of 58Ni to the 2 1 + , 811 keV and 2 2 + , 1675 keV excited states of 58Fe. The limits are T1/2+EC,0→0+) > 1.7 × 1022 yr, T1/2+EC,0→2 1 + ) > 2.3 × 1022 yr, T1/2(EC/EC,0→2 1 + ) > 3.3 × 1022 yr, and T1/2(EC/EC,0→2 2 + ) > 3.4 × 1022 yr. Experimental limit T1/2(0νEC/EC–res, 1918 keV > 4.1 × 1022 yr is obtained for resonant neutrinoless radiative EC/EC decay with an energy of 1918.3 keV. All limits are at 90% CL.  相似文献

The local electronic structure of 〈111〉 n-silicon single-crystal samples is studied using Si L 2, 3 x-ray emission spectroscopy. The Si x O y N z system is formed by implanting the samples with an 16O 2 + and 14N 2 + ion molecular beam (the oxygen/nitrogen ratio in the molecular beam is 1:1, the implantation energy is 30 keV, the irradiation fluences vary from 2.0 × 1017 to 1.5 × 1018 cm?2, the samples after the implantation are subjected to rapid thermal annealing in nitrogen at 800°C for 5 min). A comparison of the recorded Si L spectra with the spectra of the reference samples reveals clear correlations between the specific features of the electronic structure of the silicon oxynitride formed upon implantation and the ion fluence. It is shown that the implantation at fluences of 2 × 1017 and 1 × 1018 cm?2 results in the predominant formation of Si3N4, whereas the implantation at a fluence of 1.5 × 1018 cm?2 leads primarily to the formation of SiO2 layers in single-crystal silicon. The most probable factors and mechanisms accounting for such implantation of 16O 2 + and 14N 2 + into the samples under study are discussed. The experimental data obtained are compared with ab initio full-potential linearized augmented plane wave calculations of the band structure.  相似文献

Diffraction enhancement of small effects affecting a neutron undergoing Laue diffraction at Bragg angles θ B close to 90° is predicted and experimentally observed. The enhancement is due to the delay of the neutron inside the crystal during diffraction and is proportional to tan2 θ B. As a result, the diffraction enhancement factor may be as large as ~108–109. On this basis, a new method is proposed for searching for the electric charge of the neutron and for measuring the ratio of its inertial mass m i to the gravitational mass m G . It is shown that the accuracy of the neutron charge measurement can be improved by more than two orders of magnitude in relation to the present-day accuracy and that the ratio m i /m G can be measured to an precision of σ(m i /m G ) ~ 10?6.  相似文献

A series of experiments has been conducted at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics (FLNP) of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in order to study the possibility of determining the moisture content of coke using a standard neutron source. The proposed method is based on a measurement of the spectrum of prompt γ rays emitted when samples are irradiated by fast and/or thermal neutrons. The moisture content is determined from the area of the peaks of characteristic γ rays produced in the radiative capture of thermal neutrons by the proton (Eγ = 2.223 MeV) and inelastic scattering of fast neutrons by 16O (Eγ = 6.109 MeV). The 239Pu–Be neutron source (〈E n 〉 ~ 4.5 MeV) with an intensity of ~5 × 106 n/s was used to irradiate the samples under study. A scintillation detector based on a BGO crystal was used to register the characteristic γ radiation from the inelastic fast neutron scattering and slow (thermal) neutron capture. In order to directly observe neutron scattering by heavy fermion quasiparticles at low temperatures, a CeRu2Si2 single crystal has been studied by the small-angle neutron scattering method. In the experiment, neutron scattering is observed at T = 0.85 K for momentum transfers q ≤ 0.04 Å?1, which is treated as the orbital component of magnetic scattering by heavy fermion quasiparticles. It has been found that the application of a magnetic field H = 1 T leads to both an increase in the observed scattering and its anisotropy with respect to the field direction. Moreover, measurements in the magnetic field reveal additional scattering for q > 0.04 Å?1, which is well described by a Lorentzian and is interpreted as neutron magnetic scattering by spin-density fluctuations with a correlation radius Rc ≈ 30 Å.  相似文献

Resonance excitation of the 83Kr first nuclear level (E = 9.4 keV) by solar axions formed via the Primakoff mechanism is sought. The γ- and X-ray photons and the conversion and Auger electrons arising from the excited-level relaxation are detected with a gas proportional counter of a low-background detector in the underground Baksan Neutrino Observatory. The following experimental constraint is obtained for the product of the axion–photon coupling constant and the axion mass:|gAγ × mA| ≤ 6.3 × 10 -17 In the framework of the hadronic-axion model, this corresponds to a new axion-mass constraint of mA ≤ 12.7 eV at 95% C.L.  相似文献

The charged current neutrino production of φ and D s + mesons is studied, using the data obtained with the SKAT bubble chamber exposed to the Serpukhov accelerator neutrino beam. It is found that the φ production occurs predominantly in the forward hemisphere of the hadronic c.m.s. (at x F > 0, x F being the Feynman variable), with the mean yield strongly exceeding the expected yield of directly produced φ mesons and varying from 〈n φ(x F s 0)〉 = (0.92 ± 0.34) × 10?2 at W > 2 GeV up to (1.23 ± 0.53) × 10?2 at W > 2.6 GeV and (1.44 ± 0.69) × 10?2 at W > 2.9 GeV, W being the invariant mass of the hadronic system. For the first time, the inclusive yield of leading D s + mesons carrying more than z = 0.85 of the current c-quark energy is estimated: 〈n D s + (z > 0.85, W > 2.9 GeV)〉 = (6.64 ± 1.91) × 10?2. It is shown that the shape of measured φ meson differential spectrum on xF is reproduced by that expected from the D s + φX decays. An indication was obtained that this expected spectrum underestimates the measured φ yield.  相似文献

Cl38m was produced by neutron activation of chlorine containing samples in a pneumatic irradiation facility. The decay of the Cl38-isomer was investigated by various scintillation spectrometer technics. The half-life and the internal conversion coefficient α of the 0.66 MeV isomeric transition was found to beT 1/2=0.74±0.03 sec and α=(5.0±1.2)×10?4. These data suggest aM-3 transition between an isomeric state with the spinI=5? and the ground-state of Cl-38 (I=2?).  相似文献

The results of measuring the P-odd asymmetry (Sn · Pt) for triton emission from the reaction 6Li(n, α)3H are presented. Here, Sn is the neutron spin and Pt is the triton momentum. Three series of measurements were performed, one at the Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (Gatchina, Russia) in a vertical neutron beam from the PWR reactor and two in the PF1B beam from the reactor at the Institute Laue-Langevin (Grenoble, France). On the basis of all three experiments, the P-odd asymmetry coefficient was found to be αPN = ?(8.6 ± 2.0) × 10?8. The results of zero experiments and calculations give every reason to believe that the above P-odd asymmetry is due to the reaction being studied.  相似文献

Isomeric ratios of 179Hf m2,g yields in the (γ, n) reaction and the cross section for the 179Hf m2 population in the (α, p) reaction are measured for the first time at the end-point energies of 15.1 and 17.5 MeV for bremsstrahlung photons and 26 MeV for alpha particles. The results are σ = (1.1 ± 0.11) × 10?27 cm2 for the 176Lu(α, p)179Hf m2 reaction and Y m2/Y g = (6.1 ± 0.3) × 10?6 and (3.7 ± 0.2) × 10?6 for the 180Hf(γ, n)179Hf m22 reaction at Е ep =15.1 and 17.5 MeV, respectively. The experimental data on the relative 179Hf m2 yield indicate a single-humped shape of the excitation function for the 180Hf(γ, n)179Hf m2 reaction. Simulation is performed using the TALYS-1.4 and EMPIRE-3.2 codes.  相似文献

The astrophysical S-factor of the reaction T(4He, γ)7Li is measured for the first time at the center of mass energy E cm = 15.7 keV, lower than the energy range of the Standard Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (SBBN) model. The experiment is performed on a Hall pulsed accelerator (TPU, Tomsk). An acceleration pulse length of 10 μs allows one to suppress the background of cosmic radiation and the ambient medium by five orders of magnitude. A beam intensity of ~ 5 × 1014 4He+ ions per pulse allows one to measure an extremely low reaction yield. The yield of γ-quanta with the energies E γ 0 = 2483.7 keV and E γ 1 = 2006.1 keV is registered by NaI(Tl) detectors with the efficiency ε = 0.331 ± 0.026. A method for direct measurement of the background from the chain of reactions T(4He, 4He)T→T(T, 2n)X→(n, γ) and/or (n, n′γ) which ends by neutron activation of materials surrounding the target is proposed and implemented in this study. The value of the astrophysical S-factor of the reaction T(4He, γ)7Li S αt (E cm = 15.7 keV) = 0.091 ± 0.032 keV b provides the choice from the set of experimental data for the astrophysical S αt -factor in favor of experimental data [4] with S αt (E cm = 0) = 0.1067 ± 0.0064 keV b.  相似文献

The temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity ρ(T) and the ac magnetic susceptibility χ(T, H = 0) are thoroughly investigated for a perovskite-like lanthanum manganite, namely, La0.85Sr0.15MnO3, which is preliminarily exposed to neutron irradiation with a fluence F = 2 × 1019 cm?2 and then annealed at different temperatures ranging from 200 to 1000°C. The results of the electrical resistance measurements demonstrate that neutron irradiation of the samples leads to the disappearance of the low-temperature insulating phase. As the annealing temperature increases, the insulating phase is not restored and the manganite undergoes a transformation into a metallic phase. Analysis of the magnetic properties shows that, under irradiation, the ferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition temperature TC decreases and the magnetic susceptibility is reduced significantly. With an increase in the annealing temperature, the phase transition temperature TC and magnetic susceptibility χ(T, H = 0) increase and gradually approach values close to those for an unirradiated sample. This striking difference in the behavior of the electrical and magnetic properties of the radiation-disordered La0.85Sr0.15MnO3 manganite is explained qualitatively.  相似文献

The time dependence of scintillation intensity from single crystals ofp-terphenyl and mixed crystals ofp-terphenyl and anthracene after bombarding with α-particles was investigated at the two temperaturesT=296 °K andT=92 °K. For the crystals ofp-terphenyl the time dependence of the scintillation anisotropy was also measured. Using the formulas given byKing andVoltz the decay curves ofp-terphenyl were decomposed into two components. Good agreement between experiment and theory was found. The ratio of the prompt intensity to the delayed intensity was determined to be 1∶2 atT=296 °K and 1∶3 atT=92 °K. The diffusion constants for triplet excitons were calculated to beD T(296 °K)≈10?5 cm2 sec?1 andD T(92 °K)≈ 2×10?6 cm2 sec?1, and the triplet-triplet interaction rate constantsχ tt(296 °K)≈ 2.5×10?11 cm3 sec?1 andχ tt(92 °K)≈0.5×10?11 cm3 sec?1.  相似文献

The results of a direct measurement of the counting rate for solar neutrinos from the electron-capture process on 7Be, 7Be(e ?, ν e )7Li(E ν = 0.862 MeV), with the low-background scintillation detector BOREXINO are presented. This is the first ever real-time observation of a signal from solar neutrinos of energy below 1 MeV. The counting rate for monoenergetic beryllium neutrinos in the BOREXINO detector proved to be 47 ± 7 (stat.) ± 12 (syst.) counts/(day × 100 t), which is in agreement with the predictions of the standard solar model and the hypothesis of neutrino oscillations in matter with parameters in the LMA region.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of magnesium–iron spinel (MgFe2O4) powdered nanoparticles obtained by glycine–nitrate synthesis are investigated by X-ray phase analysis and the NMR method. According to the results of X-ray phase analysis, the average size of the crystalline part of nanoparticles of the powder under investigation is 45 ± 4 nm. Magnetization J is determined using the formula J = (B/μ0)–H, where B and H are the induction and strength of the magnetic field in the sample, which are measured by the NMR method. The magnetic characteristics of MgFe2O4 are as follows: specific saturation magnetization Jsat = 17.52 A m2/kg, specific residual magnetization Jr = 5.73 A m2/kg, coercive force Hc = 4600 A/m, and magnetic moment Psat = 371 × 10–20 A m2 in the magnetic saturation state and Pr = 121 × 10–20 A m2 in the residual magnetization state.  相似文献

We have found a possible example of the rare decayσ + →nΜ + Ν, which violatesδS=δQ. The positive decay track of theσ + comes to rest in the hydrogen bubble chamber and decays into ane +. This track has all the characteristics of a stoppingΜ +. The decay neutron fortuitously scatters twice, producing two recoil protons. The only other possible interpretation of the event isσ +nγ(π + →Μ + Ν), where theπ + →Μ + Ν decay produces no deflection (θ<0.1 rad) and no significant change in curvature. Using thep-wave radiative decay predictions ofBarshay et al. we calculate that the integrated branching ratio for such “accidental” events isγ(σ + →nγ(π + →Μ stop + Ν))/γ(σ + →nπ +)=1.6×10?6. Most of the contribution to this “accidental” branching ratio comes from radiative decays where theπ + mesons have ranges less than 1 mm (p π<20 MeV/c). If one excludes thoseΜ's with ranges less than 1.2 cm the above “accidental” branching ratio becomes 5.5×10?7. With this figure we estimate that we should have seen 6.5×10?2 events of this type thusfar in our experiment. The neutron momentum does not help in deciding between the two hypotheses. We therefore assign a confidence level of 7% for the radiative hypothesis. For the leptonic hypothesis we obtain an estimate of the branching ratio,γ(σ + →nΜ + Ν)/γ(σ + →nπ +)=5×10?5. If one further accepts theσ + →nπ + Ν event reported byBarbaro-Galtieri et al. and theσ + →ne + Ν event reported byNauenberg et al., one obtains theδS=?δQ leptonic branching ratio [γ(σ + →nΜ + Ν)+γ(σ + →ne + Ν)]/γ(σ + →nπ +)=(4±3)×10?5.  相似文献

Experimental results on pion decays obtained with the PIBETA spectrometer at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) are reviewed. For pion beta decay π+ → π0е+ν (πβ), a precision measurement of relative probability yields Г(πβ) = [1.036 ± 0.004(stat) ± 0.004(syst) ± 0.003(π+→е+ν)] × 10–8, which implies Vud = 0.9728(30) for the corresponding element of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa mixing matrix. Using a sample of 65 × 103 events, relative probability of the π+→е+νγ radiative pion decay (RPD) in the kinematic region of Eγ > 10 MeV and θ > 40° is measured as Bexp = 73.86(54) × 10–8. A statistical analysis of measured Ee+ and Eγ distributions for this decay yield the values FV = 0.0258(17) and FA = 0.0117(17) for the pion weak formfactors. Assuming that FV linearly depends on the е+ν invariant mass q2 as FV(q2) = FV(0)(1 + aq2), the slope parameter is extracted as а = 0.10(6). The pion polarizability and neutral-pion lifetime are estimated as αE = 2.78(10) × 10–4 fm3 and τ(π0) = (8.5 ± 1.1) × 10–17 s, respectively. The data for decays π+→ е+ ν and \({\mu ^ + } \to {e^ + }v\bar v\gamma \) have been collected and are being processed. The follow-up PEN experiment aims at reducing the uncertainty on the π+ → е+ ν relative probability by almost an order of magnitude (to 5 × 10–4).  相似文献

It is revealed that TlS single crystals exhibit a variable range hopping conduction along a normal to their natural layers at temperatures T ≤ 230 K in a dc electric field and a nonactivated hopping conduction at low temperatures in strong electric fields. Estimates are made for the density of states near the Fermi level (N F = 2.8 × 1020 eV?1 cm?3 and their energy spread (ΔW = 0.02 eV), the localization radius (a = 33 Å), the average jump distance in the region of activated (R av(T) = 40 Å) and nonactivated (R av(F) = 78 Å) hopping conduction, and also the drop in the charge carrier potential energy along the jump distance in an electric field F: eFR = 0.006 and 0.009 eV at F = 7.50 × 103 and 1.25 × 104 V/cm, respectively.  相似文献

Thin films Cu2ZnSnS4 (up to 0.9 μm thick) with p-type conductivity and band gap Eg = 1.54 eV have been prepared by the spray pyrolysis of 0.1 M aqueous solutions of the salts CuCl2 · 2H2O, ZnCl2 · 2H2O, SnCl4 · 5H2O, and (NH2)2CS at a temperature TS = 290°C. The electrophysical properties of the films have been analyzed using the model for polycrystalline materials with electrically active grain boundaries. The energy and geometric parameters of the grain boundaries have been determined as follows: the height of the barriers is Eb ≈ 0.045–0.048 eV, and the thickness of the depletion region is δ ≈ 3.25 nm. The effective concentrations of charge carriers p0 = 3.16 × 1018 cm–3 and their mobilities in crystallites μp = 85 cm2/(V s) have been found using the technique for determining the kinetic parameters from the absorption spectra of thin films at a photon energy hν ≈ Eg. The density of states at grain boundaries Nt = 9.57 × 1011 cm–2 has been estimated.  相似文献
