In this paper, we introduce some techniques of Bakry–Emery curvature operator to Ricci flow and prove the evolution equation for the Bakry–Emery scalar curvature. As its application, we can easily derive the Perelman’s entropy functional monotonicity formula. An important problem in the study of Ricci flow is to find the weakest conditions that provide control of the norm of the full Riemannian curvature tensor. In this article, supposing (M n , g(t)) is a solution to the Ricci flow on a Riemmannian manifold on time interval [0, T), we show that L\fracn+22{L^\frac{n+2}{2}} norm bound of scalar curvature and Weyl tensor can control the norm of the full Riemannian curvature tensor if M is closed and T < ∞. Next we prove, without condition T < ∞, that C 0 bound of scalar curvature and Weyl tensor can control the norm of the full Riemannian curvature tensor on complete manifolds. Finally, we show that to the Ricci flow on a complete non-compact Riemannian manifold with bounded curvature at t = 0 and with the uniformly bounded Ricci curvature tensor on M n  × [0, T), the curvature tensor stays uniformly bounded on M n  × [0, T). Hence we can extend the Ricci flow up to the time T. Some other results are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper we consider Hamilton's Ricci flow on a 3-manifold with a metric of positive scalar curvature. We establish several a priori estimates for the Ricci flow which we believe are important in understanding possible singularities of the Ricci flow. For Ricci flow with initial metric of positive scalar curvature, we obtain a sharp estimate on the norm of the Ricci curvature in terms of the scalar curvature (which is not trivial even if the initial metric has non-negative Ricci curvature, a fact which is essential in Hamilton's estimates [R.S. Hamilton, Three-manifolds with positive Ricci curvature, J. Differential Geom. 17 (1982) 255-306]), some L2-estimates for the gradients of the Ricci curvature, and finally the Harnack type estimates for the Ricci curvature. These results are established through careful (and rather complicated and lengthy) computations, integration by parts and the maximum principles for parabolic equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the evolution of L 2 one forms under Ricci flow with bounded curvature on a non-compact Rimennian manifold. We show on such a manifold that the L 2 norm of a smooth one form is non-increasing along the Ricci flow with bounded curvature. The L norm is showed to have monotonicity property too. Then we use L cohomology of one forms with compact support to study the singularity model for the Ricci flow on .  相似文献

本文研究和刻画了射影Ricci平坦的Kropina度量.利用Kropina度量的S-曲率和Ricci曲率的公式,得到了Kropina度量的射影Ricci曲率公式.在此基础上得到了Kropina度量是射影Ricci平坦度量的充分必要条件.进一步,作为自然的应用,本文研究和刻画了由一个黎曼度量和一个具有常数长度的Killing 1-形式定义的射影Ricci平坦的Kropina度量,也刻画了具有迷向S-曲率的射影Ricci平坦的Kropina度量.在这种情形下,Kropina度量是Ricci平坦度量.  相似文献

Using Hamilton's Ricci flow we shall prove several pinching results for integral curvature. In particular, we show that if p>n/2$ and the L p norm of the curvature tensor is small and the diameter is bounded, then the manifold is an infra-nilmanifold. Bochner's theorem that a compact Riemannian manifold with positive Ricci curvature has vanishing first cohomology group has various extensions to complete noncompact manifolds with Ricci possibly negative. One still has a vanishing theorem for L 2 harmonic one-forms if the infimum of the spectrum of the Laplacian on functions is greater than minus the infimum of the Ricci curvature. This result and its analogues for p-forms yield vanishing results for certain infinite volume hyperbolic manifolds. This spectral condition also imposes topological restrictions on the ends of the manifold. More refined results are obtained by taking a certain Brownian motion average of the Ricci curvature; if this average is positive, one has a vanishing theorem for the first cohomology group with compact supports on the universal cover of a compact manifold. There are corresponding results for L 2 harmonic spinors on spin manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper we prove that, under an explicit integral pinching assumption between the L2-norm of the Ricci curvature and the L2-norm of the scalar curvature, a closed 3-manifold with positive scalar curvature admits a conformal metric of positive Ricci curvature. In particular, using a result of Hamilton, this implies that the manifold is diffeomorphic to a quotient of S3. The proof of the main result of the paper is based on ideas developed in an article by M. Gursky and J. Viaclovsky.  相似文献

We derive the integral inequality of a Randers metric with isotropic S-curvature in terms of its navigation representation. Using the obtained inequality we give some rigidity results under the condition of Ricci curvature. In particular, we show the following result: Assume that an n-dimensional compact Randers manifold (M, F) has constant S-curvature c. Then (M, F) must be Riemannian if its Ricci curvature satisfies that Ric 〈 -(n - 1)c^2.  相似文献

In this article, we study topology of complete non‐compact Riemannian manifolds. We show that a complete open manifold with quadratic curvature decay is diffeomorphic to a Euclidean n ‐space ?n if it contains enough rays starting from the base point. We also show that a complete non‐compact n ‐dimensional Riemannian manifold M with nonnegative Ricci curvature and quadratic curvature decay is diffeomorphic to ?n if the volumes of geodesic balls in M grow properly. In this paper we characterize the spacelike hyperplanes in the Lorentz–Minkowski space L n +1 as the only complete spacelike hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature which are bounded between two parallel spacelike hyperplanes. In the same way, we prove that the only complete spacelike hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature in L n +1 which are bounded between two concentric hyperbolic spaces are the hyperbolic spaces. Finally, we obtain some a priori estimates for the higher order mean curvatures, the scalar curvature and the Ricci curvature of a complete spacelike hypersurface in L n +1 which is bounded by a hyperbolic space. In this work we present some properties satisfied by the second L 2-Riemannian Sobolev best constant along the Ricci flow on compact manifolds of dimensions n ≥ 4. We prove that, along the Ricci flow g(t), the second best constant B 0(2, g(t)) depends continuously on t and blows-up in finite time. In certain cases, the speed of the explosion is, at least, the same one of the curvature operator. We also show that, on manifolds with positive curvature operator or pointwise 1/4-pinched curvature, one of the situations holds: B 0(2, g(t)) converges to an explicit constant or extremal functions there exists for t large.   相似文献

In this article, we mainly investigate continuity, monotonicity and differentiability for the first eigenvalue of the p-Laplace operator along the Ricci flow on closed manifolds. We show that the first p-eigenvalue is strictly increasing and differentiable almost everywhere along the Ricci flow under some curvature assumptions. In particular, for an orientable closed surface, we construct various monotonic quantities and prove that the first p-eigenvalue is differentiable almost everywhere along the Ricci flow without any curvature assumption, and therefore derive a p-eigenvalue comparison-type theorem when its Euler characteristic is negative.  相似文献

   Abstract. In this paper we present a new notion of curvature for cell complexes. For each p , we define a p th combinatorial curvature function, which assigns a number to each p -cell of the complex. The curvature of a p -cell depends only on the relationships between the cell and its neighbors. In the case that p=1 , the curvature function appears to play the role for cell complexes that Ricci curvature plays for Riemannian manifolds. We begin by deriving a combinatorial analogue of Bochner's theorems, which demonstrate that there are topological restrictions to a space having a cell decomposition with everywhere positive curvature. Much of the rest of this paper is devoted to comparing the properties of the combinatorial Ricci curvature with those of its Riemannian avatar.  相似文献

In this paper, we study Perelman’s W{{\mathcal W}} -entropy formula for the heat equation associated with the Witten Laplacian on complete Riemannian manifolds via the Bakry–Emery Ricci curvature. Under the assumption that the m-dimensional Bakry–Emery Ricci curvature is bounded from below, we prove an analogue of Perelman’s and Ni’s entropy formula for the W{\mathcal{W}} -entropy of the heat kernel of the Witten Laplacian on complete Riemannian manifolds with some natural geometric conditions. In particular, we prove a monotonicity theorem and a rigidity theorem for the W{{\mathcal W}} -entropy on complete Riemannian manifolds with non-negative m-dimensional Bakry–Emery Ricci curvature. Moreover, we give a probabilistic interpretation of the W{\mathcal{W}} -entropy for the heat equation of the Witten Laplacian on complete Riemannian manifolds, and for the Ricci flow on compact Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

Assume Mn{\mathcal{M}^n} is a complete noncompact steady gradient Ricci soliton with positive Ricci curvature. First, by deriving a useful formula we characterize the condition of the scalar curvature and the potential function having a same level surface. Then, we assume the dimension n = 3 and characterize the rotational symmetry geometrically. Finally, for all dimensions n ≥ 3, we prove a dimension reduction result at spatial infinity under additional assumptions that Mn{\mathcal M^n} is a κ-solution and the scalar curvature is O(\frac1r),{O\left(\frac{1}{r}\right),} where r is the distance function.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the three-dimensional C P E $CPE$ conjecture with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Moreover, we establish rigidity theorems for three-dimensional compact, oriented, connected V-static metrics with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Finally, we obtain classification results on three-dimensional vacuum static space and Miao–Tam critical metric with nonnegative Ricci curvature.  相似文献
