In this paper a new algorithm for minimizing locally Lipschitz functions is developed. Descent directions in this algorithm are computed by solving a system of linear inequalities. The convergence of the algorithm is proved for quasidifferentiable semismooth functions. We present the results of numerical experiments with both regular and nonregular objective functions. We also compare the proposed algorithm with two different versions of the subgradient method using the results of numerical experiments. These results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithm over the subgradient method.   相似文献

An algorithm for solving linearly constrained optimization problems is proposed. The search direction is computed by a bundle principle and the constraints are treated through an active set strategy. Difficulties that arise when the objective function is nonsmooth, require a clever choice of a constraint to relax. A certain nondegeneracy assumption is necessary to obtain convergence. A trust region algorithm is proposed for minimizing the nonsmooth composite functionF(x) = h(f(x)), wheref is smooth andh is convex. The algorithm employs a smoothing function, which is closely related to Fletcher's exact differentiable penalty functions. Global and local convergence results are given, considering convergence to a strongly unique minimizer and to a minimizer satisfying second order sufficiency conditions.  相似文献

Distributed consensus optimization has received considerable attention in recent years and several distributed consensus-based algorithms have been proposed for (nonsmooth) convex and (smooth) nonconvex objective functions. However, the behavior of these distributed algorithms on nonconvex, nonsmooth and stochastic objective functions is not understood. Such class of functions and distributed setting are motivated by several applications, including problems in machine learning and signal processing. This paper presents the first convergence analysis of the decentralized stochastic subgradient method for such classes of problems, over networks modeled as undirected, fixed, graphs.  相似文献

Methods for minimization of composite functions with a nondifferentiable polyhedral convex part are considered. This class includes problems involving minimax functions and norms. Local convergence results are given for “active set” methods, in which an equality-constrained quadratic programming subproblem is solved at each iteration. The active set consists of components of the polyhedral convex function which are active or near-active at the current iteration. The effects of solving the subproblem inexactly at each iteration are discussed; rate-of-convergence results which depend on the degree of inexactness are given.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new class of nonsmooth functions in terms of a continuity property of the usual directional derivative. Under this approach, we study the subregular and the semismooth functions. Finally, we give conditions for a marginal function to be subregular and semismooth. This research was supported in part by the Fondo Nacional de Ciencias, Santiago, Chile. The authors thank A. Constraint qualifications in terms of approximate Jacobians are investigated for a nonsmooth constrained optimization problem, in which the involved functions are continuous but not necessarily locally Lipschitz. New constraint qualifications in terms of approximate Jacobians, weaker than the generalized Robinson constraint qualification (GRCQ) in Jeyakumar and Yen [V. Jeyakumar, N.D. Yen, Solution stability of nonsmooth continuous systems with applications to cone-constrained optimization, SIAM J. Optim. 14 5 (2004) 1106-1127], are introduced and some examples are provided to show the utility of constrained qualifications introduced. Since the calmness condition is regarded as the basic condition for optimality conditions, the relationships between the constraint qualifications proposed and the calmness of solution mapping are also studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a nonsmooth vector optimization problem involving locally Lipschitz generalized approximate convex functions and find some relations between approximate convexity and generalized approximate convexity. We establish relationships between vector variational inequalities and nonsmooth vector optimization problem using the generalized approximate convexity as a tool.  相似文献

The filled function method is an effective approach to find a global minimizer for a general class of nonsmooth programming problems with a closed bounded domain. This paper gives a new definition for the filled function, which overcomes some drawbacks of the previous definition. It proposes a two-parameter filled function and a one-parameter filled function to improve the efficiency of numerical computation. Based on these analyses, two corresponding filled function algorithms are presented. They are global optimization methods which modify the objective function as a filled function, and which find a better local minimizer gradually by optimizing the filled function constructed on the minimizer previously found. Numerical results obtained indicate the efficiency and reliability of the proposed filled function methods.  相似文献

An algorithm which computes a solution of a set optimization problem is provided. The graph of the objective map is assumed to be given by finitely many linear inequalities. A solution is understood to be a set of points in the domain satisfying two conditions: the attainment of the infimum and minimality with respect to a set relation. In the first phase of the algorithm, a linear vector optimization problem, called the vectorial relaxation, is solved. The resulting pre-solution yields the attainment of the infimum but, in general, not minimality. In the second phase of the algorithm, minimality is established by solving certain linear programs in combination with vertex enumeration of some values of the objective map.  相似文献

We introduce a trust region algorithm for minimization of nonsmooth functions with linear constraints. At each iteration, the objective function is approximated by a model function that satisfies a set of assumptions stated recently by Qi and Sun in the context of unconstrained nonsmooth optimization. The trust region iteration begins with the resolution of an “easy problem”, as in recent works of Martínez and Santos and Friedlander, Martínez and Santos, for smooth constrained optimization. In practical implementations we use the infinity norm for defining the trust region, which fits well with the domain of the problem. We prove global convergence and report numerical experiments related to a parameter estimation problem. Supported by FAPESP (Grant 90/3724-6), FINEP and FAEP-UNICAMP. A descent algorithm for nonsmooth convex optimization   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper presents a new descent algorithm for minimizing a convex function which is not necessarily differentiable. The algorithm can be implemented and may be considered a modification of the ε-subgradient algorithm and Lemarechal's descent algorithm. Also our algorithm is seen to be closely related to the proximal point algorithm applied to convex minimization problems. A convergence theorem for the algorithm is established under the assumption that the objective function is bounded from below. Limited computational experience with the algorithm is also reported.  相似文献

We describe an inexact version of Fletcher's QL algorithm with second-order corrections for minimizing composite nonsmooth functions. The method is shown to retain the global and local convergence properties of the original version, if the parameters are chosen appropriately. It is shown how the inexact method can be implemented, for the case in which the function to be minimized is an exact penalty function arising from the standard nonlinear programming problem. The method can also be applied to the problems of nonlinearl 1 - andl -approximation.This research supported in part by the National Science Foundation under Grant DMS-8619903, and by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under Grant AFOSR-ISSA-870092.  相似文献

In the lines of our previous approach to devise proximal algorithms for nonsmooth convex optimization by applying Nesterov fast gradient concept to the Moreau–Yosida regularization of a convex function, we develop three new proximal algorithms for nonsmooth convex optimization. In these algorithms, the errors in computing approximate solutions for the Moreau–Yosida regularization are not fixed beforehand, while preserving the complexity estimates already established. We report some preliminary computational results to give a first estimate of their performance.  相似文献

A nonsmooth multiobjective optimization problem involving generalized (F, α, ρ, d)-type I function is considered. Karush–Kuhn–Tucker type necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are obtained for a feasible point to be an efficient or properly efficient solution. Duality results are obtained for mixed type dual under the aforesaid assumptions.  相似文献

We propose a Generalized Pattern Search (GPS) method to solve a class of nonsmooth minimization problems, where the set of nondifferentiability is included in the union of known hyperplanes and, therefore, is highly structured. Both unconstrained and linearly constrained problems are considered. At each iteration the set of poll directions is enforced to conform to the geometry of both the nondifferentiability set and the boundary of the feasible region, near the current iterate. This is the key issue to guarantee the convergence of certain subsequences of iterates to points which satisfy first-order optimality conditions. Numerical experiments on some classical problems validate the method.  相似文献

In this paper K-nonsmooth quasi-invex and (strictly or strongly) K-nonsmooth pseudo-invex functions are defined. By utilizing these new concepts, the Fritz–John type and Kuhn–Tucker type necessary optimality conditions and number of sufficient optimality conditions are established for a nonsmooth vector optimization problem wherein Clarke’s generalized gradient is used. Further a Mond Weir type dual is associated and weak and strong duality results are obtained.  相似文献

We provide a counterexample to the remark in Löhne and Schrage [An algorithm to solve polyhedral convex set optimization problems, Optimization 62 (2013), pp. 131-141] that every solution of a polyhedral convex set optimization problem is a pre-solution. A correct statement is that every solution of a polyhedral convex set optimization problem obtained by the algorithm SetOpt is a pre-solution. We also show that every finite infimizer and hence every solution of a polyhedral convex set optimization problem contains a pre-solution.  相似文献

It is known that the problem of minimizing a convex functionf(x) over a compact subsetX of n can be expressed as minimizing max{g(x, y)|y X}, whereg is a support function forf[f(x) g(x, y), for ally X andf(x)=g(x, x)]. Standard outer-approximation theory can then be employed to obtain outer-approximation algorithms with procedures for dropping previous cuts. It is shown here how this methodology can be extended to nonconvex nondifferentiable functions. This research was supported by the Science and Engineering Research Council, UK, and by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. ECS-79-13148.  相似文献
