We consider a system consisting of a quasilinear parabolic equation and a first order ordinary differential equation where both equations contain functional dependence on the unknown functions. Then we consider a system which consists of a quasilinear parabolic partial differential equation, a first order ordinary differential equation and an elliptic partial differential equation. In this paper, a power penalty approximation method is proposed for solving a mixed quasilinear elliptic complementarity problem. The mixed complementarity problem is first reformulated as a double obstacle quasilinear elliptic variational inequality problem. A nonlinear elliptic partial differential equation is then defined to approximate the resulting variational inequality by using a power penalty approach. The existence and uniqueness of the solution to the partial differential penalty equation are proved. It is shown that, under some mild assumptions, the sequence of solutions to the penalty equations converges to the unique solution of the variational inequality problem as the penalty parameter tends to infinity. The error estimates of the convergence of this penalty approach are also derived. At last, numerical experimental results are presented to show that the power penalty approximation method is efficient and robust.

This paper is an overview of results devoted to metric conditions for removability of closed sets for solutions of homogeneous partial differential equations in various function classes. The author considers equations with a quasi-homogeneous semi-elliptic operator and with constant coefficients, linear second-order uniformly elliptic equations in the divergent form with real bounded measurable coefficients, quasilinear equations with the p-Laplacian, and the minimal surface equation. A number of results is published for the first time. The prior estimate and decay property of positive solutions are derived for a system of quasilinear elliptic differential equations first. Then the result of nonexistence for a differential equation system of radially nonincreasing positive solutions is implied. By using this nonexistence result, blow-up estimates for a class of quasilinear reaction-diffusion systems (non-Newtonian filtration systems) are established to extend the result of semilinear reaction-diffusion (Fujita type) systems.  相似文献

We establish the existence of solutions for a class of quasilinear degenerate elliptic equations. The equations in this class satisfy a structure condition which provides ellipticity in the interior of the domain, and degeneracy only on the boundary. Equations of transonic gas dynamics, for example, satisfy this property in the region of subsonic flow and are degenerate across the sonic surface. We prove that the solution is smooth in the interior of the domain but may exhibit singular behavior at the degenerate boundary. The maximal rate of blow-up at the degenerate boundary is bounded by the “degree of degeneracy” in the principal coefficients of the quasilinear elliptic operator. Our methods and results apply to the problems recently studied by several authors which include the unsteady transonic small disturbance equation, the pressure-gradient equations of the compressible Euler equations, and the singular quasilinear anisotropic elliptic problems, and extend to the class of equations which satisfy the structure condition, such as the shallow water equation, compressible isentropic two-dimensional Euler equations, and general two-dimensional nonlinear wave equations. Our study provides a general framework to analyze degenerate elliptic problems arising in the self-similar reduction of a broad class of two-dimensional Cauchy problems.  相似文献

We are concerned with the uniqueness result of positive solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic equation arising from plasma physics. We convert a quasilinear elliptic equation into a semilinear one and show the unique existence of positive radial solution for original equation under the suitable conditions on the power of nonlinearity and quasilinearity. The behavior near a reentrant corner of quasilinear non-uniformly elliptic partial differential equations which satisfy certain conditions is examined. For an elliptic equation satisfying a general maximum principle and having «convex barriers», we show that if a solution has radial limits at the corner, these limits have the same qualitative behavior as those for nonparametric minimal surfaces. For certain equations of mean curvature type, radial limits at the reentrant corner are shown to exist.  相似文献

The mathematical analysis to achieve everywhere regularity in the interior of weak solutions to nonlinear elliptic systems usually starts from their local boundedness. Having in mind De Giorgi’s counterexamples, some structure conditions must be imposed to treat systems of partial differential equations. On the contrary, in the scalar case of a general elliptic single equation a well established theory of regularity exists. In this paper we propose a unified approach to local boundedness of weak solutions to a class of quasilinear elliptic systems, with a structure condition inspired by Ladyzhenskaya–Ural’tseva’s work for linear systems, as well as valid for the general scalar case. Our growth assumptions on the nonlinear quantities involved are new and general enough to include anisotropic systems with sharp exponents and the p, q-growth case.  相似文献
