Estimates on the eigenvalues of complex nonlocal Sturm-Liouville problems

The present paper deals with the eigenvalues of complex nonlocal Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems. The bounds of the real and imaginary parts of eigenvalues for the nonlocal Sturm-Liouville differential equation involving complex nonlocal potential terms associated with nonlocal boundary conditions are obtained in terms of the integrable conditions of coefficients and the real part of the eigenvalues.

Let G be a simple connected graph with n vertices and m edges,Lo be the line graph of G and λ1(LG)≥λ2 (LG)≥...≥λm(LG) be the eigenvalues of the graph LG,.. In this paper, the range of eigenvalues of a line graph is considered. Some sharp upper bounds and sharp lower bounds of the eigenvalues of Lc. are obtained. In oarticular,it is oroved that-2cos(π/n)≤λn-1(LG)≤n-4 and λn(LG)=-2 if and only if G is bipartite.     

ASYMPTOTIC EIGENVALUE ESTIMATION FOR A CLASS OF STRUCTURED MATRICES

In this paper we consider eigenvalue asymptotic estimations for a class of structured matrices arising from statistical applications. The asymptotic upper bounds of the largest eigenvalue(λ_(max)) and the sum of squares of eigenvalues(■)are derived. Both these bounds are useful in examining the stability of certain Markov process. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate tightness of the bounds.     

Berry-Esseen bounds and Cramér type large deviations for eigenvalues of random matrices.

We establish Berry-Esseen bounds and Cramér type large deviations for the eigenvalues of Wigner Hermitian matrices in the bulk and at the edge cases. Similar results are also obtained for covariance matrices.     

INEQUALITIES OF EIGENVALUES FOR BI-KOHN LAPLACIAN ON HEISENBERG GROUP

In this article, we consider the eigenvalue problem for the bi-Kohn Laplacian and obtain universal bounds on the （k ＋ 1）-th eigenvalue in terms of the first k eigenvalues independent of the domains.     

Lower and upper bounds of Dirichlet eigenvalues for totally characteristic degenerate elliptic operators

Let λkbe the k-th Dirichlet eigenvalue of totally characteristic degenerate elliptic operator-ΔB defined on a stretched cone B0 ■ [0,1) × X with boundary on {x1 = 0}. More precisely,ΔB=(x1αx1)2+ α2x2+ + α2xnis also called the cone Laplacian. In this paper,by using Mellin-Fourier transform,we prove thatλk Cnk2 n for any k 1,where Cn=(nn+2)(2π)2(|B0|Bn)-2n,which gives the lower bounds of the Dirchlet eigenvalues of-ΔB. On the other hand,by using the Rayleigh-Ritz inequality,we deduce the upper bounds ofλk,i.e.,λk+1 1 +4n k2/nλ1. Combining the lower and upper bounds of λk,we can easily obtain the lower bound for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue λ1 Cn(1 +4n)-12n2.     

Eigenvalue approximation from below using non-conforming finite elements

This is a survey article about using non-conforming finite elements in solving eigenvalue problems of elliptic operators,with emphasis on obtaining lower bounds. In addition,this article also contains some new materials for eigenvalue approximations of the Laplace operator,which include:1) the proof of the fact that the non-conforming Crouzeix-Raviart element approximates eigenvalues associated with smooth eigenfunctions from below;2) the proof of the fact that the non-conforming EQ rot1 element approximates eigenvalues from below on polygonal domains that can be decomposed into rectangular elements;3) the explanation of the phenomena that numerical eigenvalues λ 1,h and λ 3,h of the non-conforming Q rot1 element approximate the true eigenvalues from below for the L-shaped domain. Finally,we list several unsolved problems.

In this Paper,the inertia of a symmetric Z-matrix is studied,and bounds of the number of its positive eigenvalues are obtained.Also the interlacing theorem for Schur complement of a symmetric Z-matrix is established,which can be considered as a generalization Cauchy interlacing theorem in some extent.     

Dual variational formulas for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue on half-line

The aim of the paper is to establish two dual variational formulas for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of the second order elliptic operators on half-line. Some explicit bounds of the eigenvalue depending only on the coefficients of the operators are presented. Moreover, the corresponding problems in the discrete case and the higher-order eigenvalues in the continuous case are also studied.     

ESTIMATES ON EIGENVALUES FOR THE BIHARMONIC OPERATOR ON A BOUNDED DOMAIN IN H~n（-1）

In this paper, we consider eigenvalues of the Dirichlet biharmonic operator on a bounded domain in a hyperbolic space. We obtain universal bounds on the (k + 1)th eigenvalue in terms of the first kth eigenvalues independent of the domains.

Similar to having done for the mid-point and trapezoid quadrature rules,we obtain alternative estimations of error bounds for the Simpson＇s quadrature rule involving n-time（1 ≤ n ≤ 4） differentiable mappings and then to the estimations of error bounds for the adaptive Simpson＇s quadrature rule.     

Bounds of the Estrada index of graphs

Let G be a graph of order n and let λ1,λ2,...,λn be its eigenvalues. The Estrada index[2] of G is defined as EE = EE(G) =∑n i=1 eλi. In this paper, new bounds for EE are established, as well as some relations between EE and graph energy E.     

EXPLICIT BOUNDS OF EIGENVALUES FOR STIFFNESS MATRICES BY QUADRATIC HIERARCHICAL BASIS METHOD)

The bounds for the eigenvalues of the stiffness matrices in the finite element discretiza-tion corresponding to Lu:=-u″with zero boundary conditions by quadratic hierarchical basic are shown explicitly.The condition numberof the resulting system behaves like O(1/h)where h is the mesh size.We also analyze a main diagonal preconditioner of the stiffness matrix which reduces the condition number of the preconditioned system to O(1).     

Estimates for eigenvalues of fourth-order weighted polynomial operator

In this paper,we investigate the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of fourth-order weighted polynomial operator △~2u-a△u+bu=Λρu,inΩR~n,u|Ω=uvΩ=0,where the constants a,b≥0.We obtain some estimates for the upper bounds of the (k+1)-th eigenvalueΛ_k+1 in terms of the first k eigenvalues.Moreover,these results contain some results for the biharmonic operator.     

FURTHER RESULTS ON CORRELATION FUNCTIONS OF DE BRUIJN SEQUENCES

In this paper we develop some bounds for the correlation functions of sequences with perfod 2~nand specific linear complexities.These bounds are also applicable to the correlation functions of deBruijn sequences with span n and specific linear complexities.It is interesting that a conjecture of Chan,Games and Key's for the case of n=2~m can be proved easily by using the results developed here.Theirconjecture asserts that there are no de Bruijn sequences with span n and linear complexity 2~(n-1)+n+1.The comjecture was proved by Games by a different method.     

ON THE ASYMPTOTIC ASSIGNMENT OF THE BOUNDS OF DECREASING RATE FOR A TIME-VARYING LINEAR CONTROL SYSTEM

DISTORTION THEOREMS FOR BLOCH MAPPINGS ON THE UNIT POLYDISC Dn

In this article,we establish distortion theorems for some various subfamilies of Bloch mappings defined in the unit polydisc D n with critical points,which extend the results of Liu and Minda to higher dimensions.We obtain lower bounds of | det(f′(z))| and det(f′(z)) for Bloch mapping f.As an application,some lower and upper bounds of Bloch constants for the subfamilies of holomorphic mappings are given.     

Estimates on Generalized Exponents of Digraphs

Upper bounds are obtained for fimte i- exponents of non-primitive digraphs of order n with 1≤i≤n, and the extremal cases are eharaeterized.     

When a smooth self-map of a semi-simple Lie group can realize the least number of periodic points

There are two algebraic lower bounds of the number of n-periodic points of a self-map f : M → M of a compact smooth manifold of dimension at least 3: NF_n(f) = min{#Fix(g~n); g ～ f; g continuous} and NJD_n(f) = min{#Fix(g~n); g ～ f; g smooth}. In general, NJD_n(f) may be much greater than NF_n(f). We show that for a self-map of a semi-simple Lie group, inducing the identity fundamental group homomorphism,the equality NF_n(f) = NJD_n(f) holds for all n ? all eigenvalues of a quotient cohomology homomorphism induced by f have moduli 1.     

Development of the Berezin Number Inequalities

We present new bounds for the Berezin number inequalities which improve on the existing bounds. We also obtain bounds for the Berezin norm of operators as well as the sum of two operators.
