Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO) possesses complex structures which have caused many incidents involving fires or explosions by mixing with incompatible substances, external fires, and others. In this study, reactivities or incompatibilities of MEKPO with inorganic acids (HCl, HNO3, H3PO4 and H2SO4) were assessed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and vent sizing package 2 (VSP2). Parameters obtained by the above-mentioned devices could be readily employed to discuss the runaway reaction, such as onset temperature (T 0), heat of reaction (ΔH d), time to maximum rate (TMR), maximum self heat rate (dT/dt)max, adiabatic temperature rise (ΔT ad), maximum pressure of decomposition (P max) and so on. Mixing MEKPO with hydrochloric acid resulted in the lowest T 0 among inorganic acids. Nitric acid not only lowered the T 0 but also delivered the highest heat releasing rate or self heat rate (dT/dt), which was concluded to be the worst case in terms of contamination hazards during storage or transportation of MEKPO.  相似文献

Over 90% of the cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) produced in the world is applied in the production of phenol and acetone. The additional applications were used as a catalyst, a curing agent, and as an initiator for polymerization. Many previous studies from open literature have verified and employed various aspects of the thermal decomposition and thermokinetics of CHP reactions. An isothermal microcalorimeter (thermal activity monitor III, TAM III), and a thermal dynamic calorimetry (differential scanning calorimetry, DSC) were used to resolve the exothermic behaviors, such as exothermic onset temperature (T 0), heat power, heat of decomposition (ΔH d), self-heating rate, peak temperature of reaction system, time to maximum rate (TMR), etc. Furthermore, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry was used to analyze the CHP products with its derivatives at 150 °C. This study will assess and validate the thermal hazards of CHP and incompatible reactions of CHP mixed with its derivatives, such as acetonphenone (AP), and dimethylphenyl carbinol (DMPC), that are essential to process safety design.  相似文献

Chemical speciation [Sb(V) and Sb(III)] affects the mobility, bioavailability and toxicity of antimony. In oxygenated environments Sb(V) dominates whereas thermodynamically unstable Sb(III) may occur. In this study, a simple method for the determination of Sb(III) in non acidic, oxygenated water contaminated with antimony is proposed. The determination of Sb(III) was performed by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV, 1–20 μg L−1 working range), the total antimony, Sb(tot), was determined either by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS, 1–100 μg L−1 working range) or inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES, 100–10,000 μg L−1 working range) depending on concentration. Water samples were filtered on site through 0.45 μm pore size filters. The aliquot for determination of Sb(tot) was acidified with 1% (v/v) HNO3. Different preservatives, namely HCl, L(+) ascorbic acid or L(+) tartaric acid plus HNO3, were used to assess the stability of Sb(III) in synthetic solutions. The method was tested on groundwater and surface water draining the abandoned mine of Su Suergiu (Sardinia, Italy), an area heavily contaminated with Sb. The waters interacting with Sb-rich mining residues were non acidic, oxygenated, and showed extreme concentrations of Sb(tot) (up to 13,000 μg L−1), with Sb(III) <10% of total antimony. The stabilization with L(+) tartaric acid plus HNO3 appears useful for the determination of Sb(III) in oxygenated, Sb-rich waters. Due to the instability of Sb(III), analyses should be carried out within 7 days upon the water collection. The main advantage of the proposed method is that it does not require time-consuming preparation steps prior to analysis of Sb(III).  相似文献

Facilitated transport of Am(III) in nitric acid medium using tetra(2-ethyl hexyl) diglycolamide (TEHDGA) in n-dodecane as carrier was studied. It was aimed at finding out the physico-chemical model for the transport of Am(III) using TEHDGA/n-dodecane as carrier under various experimental parameters like feed acidity, carrier concentration, varying strippant, varying membrane pore size, etc. The feed acidity and carrier concentrations were varied from 1 M to 6 M HNO3 and 0.1 M to 0.3 M TEHDGA/n-dodecane, respectively. The transport of Am(III) increased with increase in feed acidity and carrier concentration reaching maximum at 3 M HNO3 and 0.2 M TEHDGA/n-dodecane, respectively. Several stripping agents were tested and 0.1 M HNO3 was found to be the most suitable stripping agent for this system. Almost quantitative transport of Am(III) was observed at about 180 min with feed acidity of 3 M HNO3, 0.1 M HNO3 as strippant and 0.2 M TEHDGA/n-dodecane as carrier. The pore size of the membrane support was varied from 0.20 μm to 5 μm and the permeation coefficient increased with increase in pore size up to 0.45 μm (2.43 × 10−3 cm/s), and then decreased with further increase in pore size. The plot between permeation coefficient vs. (membrane thickness)−1 was linear which showed that the Am(III) transport was membrane diffusion limited. The membrane diffusion coefficient calculated from the graph was found to be 1.27 × 10−6 cm2/s and its theoretical value was 1.22 × 10−6 cm2/s. The stability of the carrier against leaching out of the membrane support as well as the integrity of membrane support was studied over a period of 30 days and was found to be satisfactory within the studied time period.  相似文献

The oxidation of dl-ornithine monohydrochloride (OMH) by diperiodatocuprate(III) (DPC) has been investigated both in the absence and presence of ruthenium(III) catalyst in aqueous alkaline medium at a constant ionic strength of 0.20 mol dm−3 spectrophotometrically. The stiochiometry was same in both the cases, i.e., [OMH]/[DPC] = 1:4. In both the catalyzed and uncatalyzed reactions, the order of the reaction with respect to [DPC] was unity while the order with respect to [OMH] was < 1 over the concentration range studied. The rate increased with an increase in [OH] and decreased with an increase in [IO4] in both cases. The order with respect to [Ru(III)] was unity. The reaction rates revealed that Ru(III) catalyzed reaction was about eight-fold faster than the uncatalyzed reaction. The oxidation products were identified by spectral analysis. Suitable mechanisms were proposed. The reaction constants involved in the different steps of the reaction mechanisms were calculated for both cases. The catalytic constant (KC) was also calculated for catalyzed reaction at different temperatures. The activation parameters with respect to slow step of the mechanism and also the thermodynamic quantities were determined. Kinetic experiments suggest that [Cu(H2IO6)(H2O)2] is the reactive copper(III) species and [Ru(H2O)5OH]2+ is the reactive Ru(III) species.  相似文献

Styrene is an important chemical in the petrochemical industry. In recent years, there have been sporadic releases, runaway reactions, fires, and thermal explosion accidents incurred by styrene and its derivatives worldwide. The purpose of this study was to estimate the impact of styrene and its derivatives of α-methylstyrene (AMS) and trans-β-methylstyrene (TBMS) contacting with benzaldehyde. Experiments were carried out to evaluate the thermokinetic parameters estimated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal activity monitor III (TAM III). TAM III was used to determine the fundamental thermokinetics under various isothermal temperatures, 80, 90 and 100°C. This autocatalytic reaction was demonstrated in thermal curves. After styrene was contacted with benzaldehyde, the exothermic onset temperature (T 0) and the total heat of reaction (Q total) were altered by DSC tests. When benzaldehyde is mixed with AMS and TBMS, the reaction time will be shorter but the enthalpy reduced, as revealed by TAM III tests. As AMS and TBMS, respectively, were contacted with benzaldehyde, both exothermic phenomena were changed during the reaction excursion. According to the results of this research, an operator should dictate the oxygen concentration in order to avoid any potential hazards during handling and transportation.  相似文献

Pooling lauroyl peroxide (LPO) with nitric acid, we used differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to assess the thermokinetic parameters, such as exothermic onset temperature (T 0), heat of decomposition (ΔH d), frequency factor (A), and the other safety parameters. When LPO was contaminated with nitric acid (HNO3), we found the exploder 1-nitrododecane. Obvious products were sensitive and hazardous chemicals. Concentration reaching 1–12 N HNO3 emitted a large amount of heat. This study combined with curve-fitting method to elucidate its unsafe characteristics and thermally sensitive structure to help prevent runaway reactions, fires and explosions in the process environment. According to the findings and the concept of inherently safer design, LPO runaway reactions could be adequately prevented in the relevant plants.  相似文献

Abstract

Dedicated to Professor Arthur Martell on the occasion of his seventy fifth birthday.

The complexes of In(III) and Ga(III) with a variety of nitrogen donor ligands were studied in aqueous solution by glass electrode potentiometry at 25°C in 0.1 M NaNO3. The ligands were 2-aminomethylpyri-dine (AMPY), ethylenediamine (EN), N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)ethylenediamine (THPED), and N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine (BICIN). A variety of mixed ligand complexes of the MLOH type were detected with many of the above ligands as L. The logK1 values obtained were with Ga(III) 8.40 (AMPY), 7.94 (THPED) 12.72 (EN), and In(III) 7.6 (AMPY), 8.20 (THPED), and 7.06 (BICIN). These formation constants are discussed in relation to previous predictions that In(III) and Ga(III) would have a substantial chemistry with nitrogen donor ligands. Of particular interest is the Ga(III) system with EN, where a very stable Ga(EN)3+ complex is formed, but no higher complexes except for hydrolyzed species such as Ga(EN)OH2+ and Ga(EN)(OH)2 +.  相似文献

A hydride generation (HG) procedure has been described for determination of Pb by ICP-MS using potassium hexacyanomanganate(III), K3Mn(CN)6, as an additive to facilitate the generation of plumbane (PbH4). Potassium hexacyanomanganate(III) was prepared in acidic medium as it was unstable in water. The stability of hexacyanomanganate(III) was examined in dilute solutions of HCl, HNO3 and H2SO4. The solutions prepared in 1% v/v H2SO4 were found to be stable for over a period of 24 h. The least suitable medium was 1% v/v HNO3. For generation of plumbane, acidic hexacyanomanganate(III) and sample solutions were mixed on-line along a 5-cm long tygon tubing (1.14 mm i.d.) and then reacted with 2% m/v sodium borohydride (NaBH4). A concentration of 0.5% m/v K3Mn(CN)6 facilitated the generation of PbH4 remarkably. In comparison to H2SO4, HCl provided broader working range for which optimum concentration was 1% v/v. No significant interferences were noted from transition metals and hydride forming elements, up to 0.5 μg mL−1 levels, except Cu which depressed the signals severely. The depressive effects in the presence of 0.1 μg mL−1 Cu were alleviated by increasing the concentration of K3Mn(CN)6 to 2% m/v. Under these conditions, the sensitivity was enhanced by a factor of at least 42 to 48. The detection limit (3 s) was 0.008 μg L−1 for 208Pb isotope. Average signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) ranged between 18 and 20 for 1.0 μg mL−1 Pb solution. The accuracy of the method was verified by analysis of several certified reference materials, including Nearshore seawater (CASS-4), Bone ash (SRM 1400), and Mussel tissue (SRM 2976). The procedure was also successfully applied to the determination of Pb in coastal seawater samples by ICP-MS.  相似文献

A series of neodymium(III) and samarium(III) complexes of type [Ln(L)Cl(H2O)3] have been synthesized with Schiff bases (LH2) derived from 3‐(phenyl/substituted phenyl)‐4‐amino‐5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazoles and isatin. The structures of the complexes were established using elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic moments, infrared, NMR (1H, 13C) and UV–visible spectra, X‐ray diffraction and mass spectrometry. The thermal behaviour of these compounds under non‐isothermal conditions was investigated using thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry. The intermediates obtained at the end of various thermal decomposition steps were identified from elemental analysis and infrared spectral studies. All the ligands and their complexes were also screened for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Colletotrichum capsici. The screening results were correlated with the structural features of the compounds. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ornidazole is an antiparasitic drug having a wide spectrum of activity. Literature survey has revealed that no attention has been paid towards the oxidation of ornidazole with any oxidant from the kinetic and mechanistic view point. Also no one has examined the role of platinum group metal ions as catalysts in the oxidation of this drug. Such studies are of much use in understanding the mechanistic profile of ornidazole in redox reactions and provide an insight into the interaction of metal ions with the substrate in biological systems. For these reasons, the Ru(III)- and Os(VIII)-catalyzed kinetics of oxidation of ornidazole with chloramine-T have been studied in HCl and NaOH media, respectively at 313 K. The oxidation products and kinetic patterns were found to be different in acid and alkaline media. Under comparable experimental conditions, in Ru(III)-catalyzed oxidation the rate law is −d[CAT]/dt = k [CAT]o[ornidazole]ox[H+]y[Ru(III)]z and it takes the form −d[CAT]/dt = k [CAT]o[ornidazole]ox[OH]y[Os(VIII)][ArSO2NH2]z for Os(VIII)-catalyzed reaction, where x, y and z are less than unity. In acid medium, 1-chloro-3-(2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-yl)propan-2-one and in alkaline medium, 1-hydroxy-3-(2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-yl)propan-2-one were characterized as the oxidation products of ornidazole by GC–MS analysis. The reactions were studied at different temperatures and the overall activation parameters have been computed. The solvent isotope effect was studied using D2O. Under identical set of experimental conditions, the kinetics of Ru(III) catalyzed oxidation of ornidazole by CAT in acid medium have been compared with uncatalyzed reactions. The relative rates revealed that the catalyzed reactions are about 5-fold faster whereas in Os(VIII) catalyzed reactions, it is around 9 times. The catalytic constant (KC) has been calculated for both the catalysts at different temperatures and activation parameters with respect to each catalyst have been evaluated. The observed experimental results have been explained by plausible mechanisms. Related rate laws have been worked out.  相似文献

A method is presented for the simultaneous determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in yeast using species-specific double-spike isotope dilution (SSDSID) with anion-exchange liquid chromatography (LC) separation and sector field inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometric (SF-ICP-MS) detection. Total Cr is quantitated using ID SF-ICP-MS. Samples were digested on a hot plate at 95±2 °C for 6 h in an alkaline solution of 0.5 M NaOH and 0.28 M Na2CO3 for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI), whereas microwave-assisted decomposition with HNO3 and H2O2 was used for the determination of total Cr. Concentrations of 2,014±16, 1,952±103 and 76±48 mg kg−1 (one standard deviation, n=4, 3, 3), respectively were obtained for total Cr, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in the yeast sample. Significant oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI) (24.2±7.6% Cr(III) oxidized, n=3) and reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) (37.6±6.5% Cr(VI) reduced, n=3 ) occurred during alkaline extraction and subsequent chromatographic separation at pH 7. Despite this significant bidirectional redox transformation, quantitative recoveries for both Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were achieved using the SSDSID method. In addition, mass balance between total Cr and the sum of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) concentrations was achieved. Method detection limits of 0.3, 2 and 30 mg kg−1 were obtained for total Cr, Cr(VI) and Cr(III), respectively, based on a 0.2-g sub-sample.  相似文献

Summary. The kinetics of ruthenium(III) catalysed oxidation of sulfanilic acid (p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid) by hexacyanoferrate(III) in alkaline medium at a constant ionic strength of 2.5mol·dm–3 has been studied spectrophotometrically using a rapid kinetic accessory. The reaction exhibits 2:8 stoichiometry (SNA:HCF(III)). The reaction showed first order kinetics in [hexacyanoferrate(III)] and [ruthenium(III)] and apparent less than unit order in both sulfanilic acid and alkali concentrations. The reaction rate increases with increasing ionic strength but the relative permittivity (T) of the medium has a negligible effect on the rate of the reaction. Initial addition of reaction products did not affect the rate significantly. A mechanism involving the formation of a complex between sulfanilic acid and hydroxylated species of ruthenium(III) has been proposed. The active species of HCF(III) and ruthenium(III) are understood as [Fe(CN)63–] and [Ru(H2O)5OH]2+, respectively. The main products were identified by IR, NMR, and mass spectral studies. The reaction constants involved in the different steps of mechanism are calculated. The activation parameters with respect to the slow step of the mechanism are computed and discussed and thermodynamic quantities are also calculated.  相似文献

A comparative study was made of several methods to speciale Sb(III) and Sb(V) by AAS: 1) Selective extraction of Sb(III) with lactic acid/malachite green graphite furnace-AAS, 2) Sb(III) and total antimony determination by hydride generation-AAS coupled to flow injection, batch, and continuous flow systems. These methods were applied to determine total antimony and Sb(III) in sea and surface water and total antimony in sediments and in soil. For soils different sample pretreatments were used: HNO3-H2SO4-HC1O4, HF-HNO3-H2SO4-HC1O4, cold aqua regia and slurry formation procedures in water and 4M HC1. In each case the recovery of total antimony and the ability to selective determine Sb(III) were studied. The detection limits obtained were 0.01 ng, 0.07 ng, 2.97 ng and 0.21 ppb for GF-AAS, FIA-HG-AAS, HG (Batch)-AAS, and HG (continuous flow)-AAS, respectively.  相似文献

Four new thioantimonates(III) with compositions [(C3H10NO)(C3H10N)][Sb8S13] ( 1 ) (C3H9NO = 1‐amino‐3‐propanol, C3H9N = propylamine), [(C2H8NO)(C2H8N)(CH5N)][Sb8S13] ( 2 ) (C2H7NO = ethanolamine, C2H7N = ethylamine, CH5N = methylamine), [(C6H16N2)(C6H14N2)][Sb6S10] ( 3 ) (C6H14N2 = 1,2‐diaminocyclohexane) and [C8H22N2][Sb4S7] ( 4 ) (C8H20N2 = 1,8‐diaminooctane) were synthesized under solvothermal conditions. Compound 1 : triclinic space group P$\bar{1}$ , a = 6.9695(6) Å, b = 13.8095(12) Å, c = 18.0354(17) Å, α = 98.367(11), β = 96.097(11) and γ = 101.281(11)°; compound 2 : monoclinic space group P21/m, a = 7.1668(5), b = 25.8986(14), c = 16.0436(11) Å, β = 96.847(8)°; compound 3 : monoclinic space group P21/n, a = 11.6194(9), b = 10.2445(5) Å, c = 27.3590(18) Å, β = 91.909(6)°; compound 4 : triclinic space group P$\bar{1}$ , a = 7.0743(6), b = 12.0846(11), c = 13.9933(14) Å, α = 114.723(10), β = 97.595(11), γ = 93.272(11)°. The main structural feature of the two atoms thick layered [Sb8S13]2– anion in 1 are large nearly rectangular pores with dimensions 11.2 × 11.7 Å. The layers are stacked perpendicular to [100] to form tunnels being directed along [100]. In contrast to 1 the structure of 2 contains a [Sb8S13]2– chain anion with Sb12S12 pores measuring about 8.9 × 11.5 Å. Only if longer Sb–S distances are considered as bonding interactions a layered anion is formed. The chain anion [Sb6S10]2– in compound 3 is unique and is constructed by corner‐sharing SbS3 pyramids. Two symmetry‐related single chains consisting of alternating SbS3 units and Sb3S3 rings are bound to Sb4S4 rings in chair conformation. Finally, in the structure of 4 the SbS3 and SbS4 moieties are joined corner‐linked to form a chain of alternating SbS4 units and (SbS3)3 blocks. Neighboring chains are connected into sheets that contain relatively large Sb10S10 heterorings. The sheets are further connected by sulfur atoms generating four atoms thick double sheets.  相似文献

Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO), which has highly reactive and exothermically unstable characteristics, has been extensively employed in the chemical industries. It has also caused many thermal explosions and runaway reaction accidents in manufacturing processes during the last three decades in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and China. The goal of this study was to simulate thermal upset by MEKPO for an emergency response. Vent sizing package 2 (VSP2) was used to determine the thermokinetics of 20 mass% MEKPO. Data of thermokinetics and hazard behaviors were employed to simulate thermal explosion in three types of vessel containing 20 mass% MEKPO under various scenarios at the same volume. To compare and appraise the difference of important parameters, such as maximum temperature (T max), maximum pressure (P max), etc. This was necessary and useful for investigating the emergency response procedure associated with industrial applications.  相似文献

The reaction of [(thf)4Ca(PPh2)2] ( 1 ) with diisopropyl– and dicyclohexylcarbodiimides yields the phospha(III)guanidinates [(thf)2Ca{RNC(PPh2)NR}2] with R = isopropyl ( 2 ) and cyclohexyl ( 3 ). The metathesis reaction of K{RNC(PPh2)NR} with anhydrous CaI2 also allows the synthesis of these phospha(III)guanidinate complexes 2 and 3 . For 2 a cis arrangement is observed whereas 3 crystallizes as trans isomer. The phospha(III)guanidinates act as bidentate chelate bases with an average Ca–N distance of 242.5 pm. The C–P bond length between the PPh2 fragment and the 1,3–diazaallyl unit is with values above 190 pm very large. The complexes 2 and 3 show a moderate catalytic activity in hydrophosphanylation reactions of dialkylcarbodiimides with diphenylphosphane.  相似文献

N,N,N′,N′-tetraoctyl diglycolamide (TODGA) and bis(2-ethylhexy)phosphoric acid (HDEHP) were coated on Fe3O4 nanoparticles under different chemical conditions. The TODGA-coated magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4@TODGA) captured representative actinides Am(III) and Pu(IV) at 3–4 M HNO3 with high efficiency. However, the HNO3 induced pre-organization of TODGA, before coating on the magnetite nanoparticles, was found to be important for the sorption of Am(III) and Pu(IV) ions. The Fe3O4@HDEHP particles exhibited selectivity toward Pu(IV), and Am(III) did not sorb from 3 to 4 M HNO3. The quantification of Pu(IV) preconcentrated on coated particles was carried out by removing the extractant coating in dioxane based scintillator, followed by liquid scintillation counting.
