Turbulence structure and heat and mass transfer mechanism across a wavy sheared gas-liquid interface are fluid-mechanically investigated in a wind-wave tunnel. Heat and mass transfer velocities are reported and the relationship between the scalar transfer velocities and the turbulence structure is discussed. In addition, three-dimensional direct numerical simulation is carried out to investigate the flow structure over a rigid-wavy wall similar to that over the wave. The results show that the organized motion in the air flow intermittently appears on the front side of the wave crest, and its structure is rather similar to the flow structure over the rigid-wavy wall. The organized motion in the air flow induces the organized motion in the water flow and the organized motion renews the air-water interface. The scalar transfer across a wavy sheared gas-liquid interface is controlled by the organized surface-renewal motion in the water flow  相似文献

Large eddy simulations are performed for an unsteady flow and heat transfer in the region of interaction of a circular turbulent jet with a normally positioned flat obstacle (target). Space-filtered Navier-Stokes equations are closed by the RNG model of eddy viscosity, which takes into account the curvature of streamlines in the region of flow turning. The computations are performed for different dimensionless distances between the nozzle exit and the target and for different Reynolds numbers. The dependence between the Nusselt number distribution over the target surface and the vortex structure of the jet is analyzed. The local and integral characteristics of the flow are compared with the data of a physical experiment. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 48, No. 1, pp. 55–67, January–February, 2007.  相似文献

The temperature distribution in particle-laden turbulent flow, in a flume, was investigated both by DNS and experimentally. Simulations were performed at Re=171 and Pr=5.4 in order to study the interaction between the particle motion and flow turbulence. Two-way coupling was used to obtain various turbulence statistics, the grid resolution was sufficiently fine to resolve all essential turbulent scales. The effect of particle diameter on momentum, heat transfer and particle deposition was considered. The details of particle-turbulence interaction depend on the particle Stokes number and the particle Reynolds number.

The spatial structures of instantaneous flow and temperature fields were visualized. Low frequency small oscillations of deposited particles were observed. It was found that these small deviations from the initial position, caused strong changes in the instantaneous temperature field near the particle.

The experiments provided details of the temperature field on the heated wall close to the particle. In the front of the particle, a sharp increase in heat transfer coefficient was observed. The experimental results agree well with the computational predictions.  相似文献

The results of numerical simulation are presented for thermally and chemically nonequilibrium air plasma flows in a plasmatron discharge channel and underexpanded dissociated and partially ionized air jets flowing past a cylindrical model with a blunt leading edge and cooled copper surface under the experimental conditions realized in a VGU-4 100 kW induction plasmatron (Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences) (see, for example, [1, 2]). The nonequilibrium excitation of the vibrational degrees of freedom of the molecules in the modal approximation and the difference between the electron and translational heavy-particle temperatures are taken into account in the calculations. The calculated data on the heat transfer and pressure at the stagnation point are compared with the results obtained within the framework of the thermally equilibrium model. Comparison with the experimental data obtained in the Institute for Problem in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Laboratory for interaction between plasma and radiation and materials) and kindly provided for comparison purposes gives satisfactory agreement.  相似文献

Heat and mass transfer of a porous permeable wall in a high temperature gas dynamical flow is considered. Numerical simulation is conducted on the ground of the conjugate mathematical model which includes filtration and heat transfer equations in a porous body and boundary layer equations on its surface. Such an approach enables one to take into account complex interaction between heat and mass transfer in the gasdynamical flow and in the structure subjected to this flow. The main attention is given to the impact of the intraporous heat transfer intensity on the transpiration cooling efficiency. Experimental results are presented for characteristics of impingement heat transfer caused by three slot jets. Experimental values were obtained for the dimensionless distance H = 0.5−3, dimensionless pitch P = 6−16, and Reynolds number Re = 500−8000. For laminar impinging flow, they were compared with numerical results. For turbulent impinging flow, two peaks of the local Nusselt number were obtained behind the second nozzle. The position of the second peak approached the nozzle as the space between nozzle and impinged surface decreased. The average Nusselt number between the central and second nozzles was determined from the ratio P/H and the Reynolds number based on the pitch of the nozzles.  相似文献

Lattice Boltzmann equation method is used to simulate the coherent vortex motions and interactions and the heat transfer characteristics of jets in cross flow (JICFs) via TD2G9 model. After validation, the characteristics of cross flow under different Reynolds numbers are illustrated, including the mean profiles, the Reynolds stress tensor, the vortex and temperature fields, the temperature gradients near the walls, and the coherent correlation of vortex motions. The results show that the velocity profiles in JICF can be characterized by three basic regions, which are mainly caused by the mergence of JICF with the main flow. The temperature gradient near the walls can also be categorized by four basic regions, which are caused mainly by the impulse of JICFs too. Coherent vortex motions are found in JICF for Re = 3000, which are proved by strong periodic correlation of flow variables over a fixed area.  相似文献

The paper reports the outcome of applying two differential second-moment (DSM) closures to resolve the complex three-dimensional motion that arises in turbulent flow in a square-sectioned duct passing around a 180°C bend. The initial results showed (in accord with a number of recent studies) that, with the same underlying closure hypotheses, a DSM scheme produces better agreement with experiment than does the corresponding algebraic second-moment (ASM) treatment, although the differences were acceptably small. Thereafter, applications are reported for a new type of DSM that employs no wall-reflection terms. This leads to markedly better predictions of the turbulence field and thus of the wall heat transfer than the conventionally adopted version.  相似文献

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of heat transfer in a channel flow obstructed by rectangular prisms has been performed for Reτ = 80–20, where Reτ is based on the friction velocity, the channel half width and the kinematic viscosity. The molecular Prandtl number is set to be 0.71. The flow remains unsteady down to Reτ = 40 owing to the disturbance induced by the prism. For Reτ = 30 and 20, the flow results in a steady laminar flow. In the vicinity of the prism, the three-dimensional complex vortices are generated and heat transfer is enhanced. The Reynolds number effect on the time-averaged vortex structure and the local Nusselt number are investigated. The mechanism of the heat transfer enhancement is discussed. In addition, the mean flow parameters such as the friction factor and the Nusselt number are examined in comparison with existing DNS and experimental data.  相似文献

An experimental study was made on convective heat and mass transfer from a horizontal heated cylinder in a downward flow of air-water mist at a blockage ratio of 0.4. The measured local heat transfer coefficients agree fairly well with the authors' numerical solutions obtained previously for the front surface of a cylinder over the ranges mass flow ratio 0–4.5×10−2, a temperature difference between the cylinder and air 10–43 K, gas Reynolds number (7.9–23)×103, Rosin-Rammler size parameter 105–168 μm, and dispersion parameter 3.4–3.7. Heat transfer augmentation, two-pahse to single-phase of greater than 19 was attained at the forward stagnation point. For heat transfer in the rear part of the cylinder, an empirical formula is derived by taking into account the dimensionless governing variables, that is, coolant-feed and evaporation parameters.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to investigate the effect of heat and mass transfer on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free convective flow with Hall current, heat source, and viscous dissipation. The problem is governed by the system of coupled non-linear partial differential equations whose exact solution is difficult to obtain. Therefore, the problem is solved by using the Galerkin finite element method. The effects of the various parameters like Hall current, Eckert number, heat source parameter, Prandtl number, and Schmidt number on the velocity components, the temperature, and the concentration are also examined through graphs.  相似文献

Fully developed turbulent flow and heat transfer in a concentric annular duct is investigated for the first time by using a direct numerical simulation (DNS) with isoflux conditions imposed at both walls. The Reynolds number based on the half-width between inner and outer walls, δ=(r2-r1)/2, and the laminar maximum velocity is Reδ=3500. A Prandtl number Pr=0.71 and a radius ratio r*=0.1 were retained. The main objective of this work is to examine the effect of the heat flux density ratio, q*=q1/q2, on different thermal statistics (mean temperature profiles, root mean square (rms) of temperature fluctuations, turbulent heat fluxes, heat transfer, etc.). To validate the present DNS calculations, predictions of the flow and thermal fields with q*=1 are compared to results recently reported in the archival literature. A good agreement with available DNS data is shown. The effect of heat flux ratio q* on turbulent thermal statistics in annular duct with arbitrarily prescribed heat flux is discussed then. This investigation highlights that heat flux ratio has a marked influence on the thermal field. When q* varies from 0 to 0.01, the rms of temperature fluctuations and the turbulent heat fluxes are more intense near the outer wall while changes in q* from 1 to 100, lead to opposite trends.  相似文献

The results of an experimental study of a temperature field and its statistical characteristics in turbulent water flow upon a sudden change of heat generation in the channel wall are reported. Measurements were performed in 5 mm × 40 mm, 10 mm × 40 mm, and 20 mm × 40 mm channels in the regions of thermal stabilization and stabilized heat transfer at Reynolds numbers of (0.8–6.8) × 104. The measurement results are generalized using a dimensionless time scale. The results of the calculation of heat transfer coefficients at unsteady heat transfer are presented.  相似文献

The effect of rough surface topography on heat and momentum transfer is studied by direct numerical simulations of turbulent heat transfer over uniformly heated three-dimensional irregular rough surfaces, where the effective slope and skewness values are systematically varied while maintaining a fixed root-mean-square roughness. The friction Reynolds number is fixed at 450, and the temperature is treated as a passive scalar with a Prandtl number of unity. Both the skin friction coefficient and Stanton number are enhanced by the wall roughness. However, the Reynolds analogy factor for the rough surface is lower than that for the smooth surface. The semi-analytical expression for the Reynolds analogy factor suggests that the Reynolds analogy factor is related to the skin friction coefficient and the difference between the temperature and velocity roughness functions, and the Reynolds analogy factor for the present rough surfaces is found to be predicted solely based on the equivalent sand-grain roughness. This suggests that the relationship between the Reynolds analogy factor and the equivalent sand-grain roughness is not affected by the effective slope and skewness values. Analysis of the heat and momentum transfer mechanisms based on the spatial- and time-averaged equations suggests that two factors decrease the Reynolds analogy factor. One is the increased effective Prandtl number within the rough surface in which the momentum diffusivity due to the combined effects of turbulence and dispersion is larger than the corresponding thermal diffusivity. The other is the significant increase in the pressure drag force term above the mean roughness height.  相似文献

Convection heat and mass transfer from a disk   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
The aim of the present study is to investigate the coupling influence of the disk rotating speed and air velocity from laboratory room on the local heat and mass characteristics from a disk in wind tunnel with the naphthalene sublimation technique. The experiments are performed at four different free stream flow velocities. From the experimental results, the correlation of Sherwood number with the coupling Reynolds number and of Nusselt number with the coupling Reynolds number are both proposed in the present work.  相似文献

In the present analysis, the influence of heat and mass transfer on the peristaltic flow of a hyperbolic tangent fluid in an asymmetric channel has been discussed. The highly nonlinear equations are simplified under lubrication approach. The perturbation and numerical solutions of the problem are not only discussed but the validity of the results is also being checked. The graphical results of the problem under discussion are also being brought under consideration to see the behavior of various physical parameters. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
