Symmetry group analysis and similarity reduction of nonlinear system of coupled Burger equations in the form of nonlinear partial differential equation are analyzed via symmetry method. The symmetry method has led to similarity reductions of this equation to solvable form to third‐order partial differential equation. The infinitesimal, similarity variables, dependent variables, and reduction have been tabulated. The search for solutions of these systems by using the improved tanh method has yielded certain exact solutions expressed by rational functions. Some figures are given to show the properties of the solutions. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study symmetry group properties and general similarity forms of the two-layer shallow-water equations are discussed by Lie group theory. We represent that Lie group theory can be used as an effective approach for investigation of the self-similar solutions for the shallow-water equations with variable inflow as the generalization of dimensional analysis that was used so far for a regular approach in the literature. We also represent that the results obtained by dimensional analysis are just a special case of the results obtained by Lie group theory and it is possible to obtain the new similarity forms and the new variable inflow functions for the study of gravity currents in two-layer flow under shallow-water approximations based on Lie group theory. The symmetry groups of the system of nonlinear partial differential equations are found and the corresponding similarity and reduced forms are obtained. Some similarity solutions of the reduced equations are investigated. It is shown that reduced equations and similarity forms of the system depend on the group parameters. We show that an analytic similarity solution for the system of equations can be found for some special values of them. For other values of the group parameters, the similarity solutions of the two-layer shallow-water equations representing the gravity currents with a variable inflow are found by the numeric integration.  相似文献

Complete infinite order approximate symmetry and approximate homotopy symmetry classifications of the Cahn–Hilliard equation are performed and the reductions are constructed by an optimal system of one-dimensional subalgebras. Zero order similarity reduced equations are nonlinear ordinary differential equations while higher order similarity solutions can be obtained by solving linear variable coefficient ordinary differential equations. The relationship between two methods for different order are studied and the results show that the approximate homotopy symmetry method is more effective to control the convergence of series solutions than the approximate symmetry one.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to carry out symmetry group analysis to obtain important classes of exact solutions from the given system of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). Lie group analysis is employed to derive some exact solutions of one dimensional unsteady flow of an ideal isentropic, inviscid and perfectly conducting compressible fluid, subject to a transverse magnetic field for the magnetogasdynamics system. By using Lie group theory, the full one-parameter infinitesimal transformations group leaving the equations of motion invariant is derived. The symmetry generators are used for constructing similarity variables which leads the system of PDEs to a reduced system of ordinary differential equations; in some cases, it is possible to solve these equations exactly. Further, using the exact solution, we discuss the evolutionary behavior of weak discontinuity.  相似文献

The isovector fields (infinitesimal generators of Lie groups) of Einstein vacuum equations for stationary axially symmetric rotating fields, in conventional form, that is a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) of second order are derived using the geometric prolongation technique. Some symmetry transformations and similarity (exact) solutions of Einstein vacuum equations are obtained.  相似文献

Here, using Lie group transformations, we consider the problem of finding similarity solutions to the system of partial differential equations (PDEs) governing one-dimensional unsteady motion of a compressible fluid in the presence of viscosity and thermal conduction, using the general form of the equation of state. The symmetry groups admitted by the governing system of PDEs are obtained, and the complete Lie algebra of infinitesimal symmetries is established. Indeed, with the use of the entailed similarity solution the problem is transformed to a system of ordinary differential equations(ODEs), which in general is nonlinear; in some cases, it is possible to solve these ODEs to determine some special exact solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain exact solutions to the nonlinear system of partial differential equations (PDEs), describing the one dimensional modified shallow water equations, using invariance group properties of the governing system. Lie group of point symmetries with commuting infinitesimal operators, are presented. The symmetry generators are used for constructing similarity variables which lead the governing system of PDEs to system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs); in some cases, it is possible to solve these equations exactly. A particular solution to the governing system, which exhibits space-time dependence, is used to study the evolutionary behavior of weak discontinuities.  相似文献

The symmetry reduction method based on the Fréchet derivative of the differential operators is applied to investigate symmetries of the Field equations in general relativity corresponding to cylindrically symmetric space–time, that is a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations of second order. More specifically, this technique yields invariant transformation that reduce the given system of partial differential equations to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Some of the reduced systems are further studied for exact solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, Lie point symmetry group of the Harry-Dym type equation with Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative is constructed. Then complete subgroup classification is obtained by means of the optimal system method. Finally, corresponding group-invariant solutions with reduced fractional ordinary differential equations are presented via similarity reductions.  相似文献

The similarity transform for the steady three‐dimensional Navier‐Stokes equations of flow between two stretchable disks gives a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which is analytically solved by applying a newly developed method, namely, the homotopy analysis method. The analytic solutions of the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations are constructed in the series form. The convergence of the obtained series solutions is analyzed. The validity of our solutions is verified by the numerical results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2010  相似文献

Lie point symmetry analysis of the general class of nonlinear diffusion-convection equations in two and three dimensions has shown that only for Burgers' equation (that isD(u)=const,K(u)=quadratic) is a full symmetry reduction to an ordinary differential equation possible. The optimal system of symmetry operators is determined to ensure that a minimal complete set of reductions is obtained. For each reduced partial differential equation, classical Lie group analysis has been performed and further reductions obtained. In this manner, all possible reductions to an ordinary differential equation are found, leading to exact solutions to both the two and three dimensional Burgers' equation.  相似文献

In this paper, the Lie symmetry analysis are performed on the three nonlinear elastic rod (NER) equations. The complete group classifications of the generalized nonlinear elastic rod equations are obtained. The symmetry reductions and exact solutions to the equations are presented. Furthermore, by means of dynamical system and power series methods, the exact explicit solutions to the equations are investigated. It is shown that the combination of Lie symmetry analysis and dynamical system method is a feasible approach to deal with symmetry reductions and exact solutions to nonlinear PDEs.  相似文献

We describe a pseudo-spectral numerical method to solve the systems of one-dimensional evolution equations for free surface waves in a homogeneous layer of an ideal fluid. We use the method to solve a system of one-dimensional integro-differential equations, first proposed by Ovsjannikov and later derived by Dyachenko, Zakharov, and Kuznetsov, to simulate the exact evolution of nonlinear free surface waves governed by the two-dimensional Euler equations. These equations are written in the transformed plane where the free surface is mapped onto a flat surface and do not require the common assumption that the waves have small amplitude used in deriving the weakly nonlinear Korteweg–de Vries and Boussinesq long-wave equations. We compare the solution of the exact reduced equations with these weakly nonlinear long-wave models and with the nonlinear long-wave equations of Su and Gardner that do not assume the waves have small amplitude. The Su and Gardner solutions are in remarkably close agreement with the exact Euler solutions for large amplitude solitary wave interactions while the interactions of low-amplitude solitary waves of all four models agree. The simulations demonstrate that our method is an efficient and accurate approach to integrate all of these equations and conserves the mass, momentum, and energy of the Euler equations over very long simulations.  相似文献

The similarity transform for the steady three-dimensional problem of a condensation film on an inclined rotating disk gives a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are analytically solved by applying a newly developed method namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The analytic solutions of the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations are constructed in the series form. The convergence of the obtained series solutions is carefully analyzed. The velocity and temperature profiles are shown and the influence of the Prandtl number on the heat transfer and the Nusselt number is discussed in detail. The validity of our results is verified by numerical results.  相似文献

In the recent paper by Kudryashov [11] seven common errors in finding exact solutions of nonlinear differential equations were listed and discussed in detail. We indicate two more common errors concerning the similarity (equivalence with respect to point transformations) and linearizability of differential equations and then discuss the first of them. Classes of generalized KdV and mKdV equations with variable coefficients are used in order to clarify our conclusions. We investigate admissible point transformations in classes of generalized KdV equations, obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions of similarity of such equations to the standard KdV and mKdV equations and carried out the exhaustive group classification of a class of variable-coefficient KdV equations. Then a number of recent papers on such equations are commented using the above results. It is shown that exact solutions were constructed in these papers only for equations which are reduced by point transformations to the standard KdV and mKdV equations. Therefore, exact solutions of such equations can be obtained from known solutions of the standard KdV and mKdV equations in an easier way than by direct solving. The same statement is true for other equations which are equivalent to well-known equations with respect to point transformations.  相似文献

The natural convection boundary layer flow modeled by a system of nonlinear differential equations is considered. By means of similarity transformation, the non-linear partial differential equations are reduced to a system of two coupled ordinary differential equations. The series solutions of coupled system of equations are constructed for velocity and temperature using homotopy analysis method (HAM). Convergence of the obtained series solution is discussed. Finally some figures are illustrated to show the accuracy of the applied method and assessment of various prandtl numbers on the temperature and the velocity is undertaken.  相似文献

We analyze self-similar solutions to a nonlinear fractional diffusion equation and fractional Burgers/Korteweg–deVries equation in one spatial variable. By using Lie-group scaling transformation, we determined the similarity solutions. After the introduction of the similarity variables, both problems are reduced to ordinary nonlinear fractional differential equations. In two special cases exact solutions to the ordinary fractional differential equation, which is derived from the diffusion equation, are presented. In several other cases the ordinary fractional differential equations are solved numerically, for several values of governing parameters. In formulating the numerical procedure, we use special representation of a fractional derivative that is recently obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the invariance and integrability properties of an integrable two-component reaction–diffusion equation. We perform Painlevé analysis for both the reaction–diffusion equation modelled by a coupled nonlinear partial differential equations and its general similarity reduced ordinary differential equation and confirm its integrability. Further, we perform Lie symmetry analysis for this model. Interestingly our investigations reveals a rich variety of particular solutions, which have not been reported in the literature, for this model.  相似文献

By using decomposable subgroups of the generalized Poincaré group P(1,4), we perform a symmetry reduction of a nonlinear five-dimensional wave equation to differential equations with a smaller number of independent variables. On the basis of solutions of the reduced equations, we construct some classes of exact solutions of the equation under consideration.  相似文献
