PODIPY and aza‐PODIPY have been successfully prepared by the treatment of dipyrromethene and azadipyrromethene with POCl3 in the presence of Et3N. The new PODIPY and aza‐PODIPY dyes are found to have photophysical properties. PODIPY and aza‐PODIPY are water‐soluble, and aza‐PODIPY is suited for labeling living Hep‐2 cells for imaging assays in the near‐infrared region. Molecular orbital calculations show that the increase in the HOMO–LUMO band gap for the lowest energy absorption bands is observed in the new phosphorus‐containing aza‐PODIPY, and the HOMO and LUMO energies of aza‐PODIPY are found to be higher than those of aza‐BODIPY.  相似文献

1,3-Dinitrobenzene formed colored 1:1 complexes with aliphatic amines (chromogenic agents) like isopropylamine, ethylenediamine, tetraethylenepentamine and bis(3-aminopropyl)amine in DMSO having absorption maxima at 563 nm, 584 nm, 580.5 nm and 555 nm respectively. The complexes were stable for more than 24 h. The accurate association constants KAD and other thermodynamic parameters were determined with D and A usually in stoichiometric ratios. But in case of m-DNB and bis(3-aminopropyl)amine, the association constants KAD and the thermodynamic parameters were also determined using Benesi-Hildebrand equation to show the variations of KAD under different conditions. ΔG° values were found to be negative in all cases resulting from exothermic enthalpy changes and favourable entropy changes. The energies of transition for the CT complexes hνCT found experimentally were considerably different from the energies of transition (from HOMO of donor to LUMO of acceptor) calculated using AM1 but the differences were considerably reduced using DFT calculations. The vertical electron affinity of m-DNB was calculated using the method suggested by Mulliken. However, no FTIR measurements of the complexes could be made due to experimental limitations.  相似文献

The possibility of quantitative reaction analysis on the orbital energies of long‐range corrected density functional theory (LC‐DFT) is presented. First, we calculated the Diels–Alder reaction enthalpies that have been poorly given by conventional functionals including B3LYP functional. As a result, it is found that the long‐range correction drastically improves the reaction enthalpies. The barrier height energies were also computed for these reactions. Consequently, we found that dispersion correlation correction is also crucial to give accurate barrier height energies. It is, therefore, concluded that both long‐range exchange interactions and dispersion correlations are essentially required in conventional functionals to investigate Diels–Alder reactions quantitatively. After confirming that LC‐DFT accurately reproduces the orbital energies of the reactant and product molecules of the Diels–Alder reactions, the global hardness responses, the halves of highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO)‐lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy gaps, along the intrinsic reaction coordinates of two Diels–Alder reactions were computed. We noticed that LC‐DFT results satisfy the maximum hardness rule for overall reaction paths while conventional functionals violate this rule on the reaction pathways. Furthermore, our results also show that the HOMO‐LUMO gap variations are close to the reaction enthalpies for these Diels–Alder reactions. Based on these results, we foresee quantitative reaction analysis on the orbital energies. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Six donor–acceptor‐type near‐infrared (NIR) aza–boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes and their corresponding aza–dipyrrins were designed and synthesized. The donor moieties at the 1,7‐positions of the aza–BODIPY core were varied from naphthyl to N‐phenylcarbazole to N‐butylcarbazole. The 3,5‐positions were also substituted with phenyl or thienyl groups in the aza–BODIPYs. Photophysical, electrochemical, and computational studies were carried out. The absorption and emission spectra of aza–BODIPYs were significantly redshifted (≈100 nm) relative to the parent tetraphenylaza–BODIPY. Fluorescence studies suggested effective energy transfer (up to 93 %) from donor groups to the aza–BODIPY core in all of the compounds under study. Time‐dependent (TD)‐DFT studies indicated effective electronic interactions between energy donor groups and aza–dipyrrin unit in all the aza–BODIPYs studied. The HOMO–LUMO gap (ΔE) calculated from cyclic voltammetry data was found to be lower for six aza–BODIPYs relative to their corresponding aza–dipyrrins.  相似文献

Charge-transfer (CT) complexes formed between aromatic thiol donors (thiophenol (TP), benzene-1,4-dithiol (BDT), p-aminothiophenol (ATP), p-hydroxythiophenol (HTP), and p-toluenethiol (TTP)) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ) as an acceptor were studied spectrophotometrically in dichloromethane. Addition of aromatic thiols in dichloromethane to DDQ leads to the formation of colored solutions that exhibit a very broad absorption band in the range 440-800 nm and a band in the region 300-400 nm. On the basis of the energies of LUMO and HOMO from quantum mechanical calculations, the broad band observed in the visible region was assigned to the pi*(a2) <-- pi(b1) transition and a band observed between 300 and 400 nm was assigned to the pi*(a2) <-- pi(a2) transition. The solid CT complexes of aromatic thiols and DDQ were prepared and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy. The stoichiometry of the CT complexes was determined by Job's continuous variation method. The association constant (KCT), molar extinction coefficient (epsilon), oscillator strength (f), and transition dipole moment (micro) values were calculated from the electronic spectra. The vertical ionization potentials (ID) of the donors were calculated from their corresponding lambdaCT. Quantum mechanical (QM) calculations were performed to determine the ionization potential and the energies of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of donors and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of an acceptor.  相似文献

New covalently C60‐connected zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) derivatives have been synthesized by utilizing successive cycloaddition reactions of C60 with a ZnPc derivative containing a pyridazine moiety employing Komatsu’s method in reaction of C60 with phthalazine. The UV/Vis absorption spectrum of the fused conjugate ( 5 ) shows red shifts from the corresponding absorption of ZnPc derivative ( 8 ), indicating interactions between the ZnPc and C60 moieties. The DFT calculations under non‐polar medium predict that the HOMO and LUMO of 5 localize on the ZnPc moiety, whereas LUMO+1 localizes on the C60 moiety, which reasonably explain the magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) and absorption spectra in toluene. Electrochemical redox potentials of 5 in polar solvents indicate the first‐oxidation potential arises from the ZnPc moiety, whereas the first reduction potential is associated with the C60 moiety, suggesting the LUMO localizes on the C60 moiety in polar solvent. This reversal of the LUMO is supported by the ZnPc‐fluorescence quenching with a nearby C60 moiety in benzonitrile, which leads to the charge‐separation via the excited singlet state of the ZnPc moiety. In toluene on the other hand, such a ZnPc‐fluorescence quenching owing to the photoinduced charge separation is not observed as predicted by the DFT‐calculated LUMO on the ZnPc moiety.  相似文献

The ground‐state structure and frontier molecular orbital of D‐π‐A organic dyes, CFT1A, CFT2A, and CFT1PA were theoretically investigated using density functional theory (DFT) on B3LYP functional with 6‐31G(d,p) basis set. The vertical excitation energies and absorption spectra were obtained using time‐dependent DFT (TD‐DFT). The adsorptions of these dyes on TiO2 anatase (101) were carried out by using a 38[TiO2] cluster model using Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof functional with the double numerical basis set with polarization (DNP). The results showed that the introduction of thiophene–thiophene unit (T–T) as conjugated spacer in CFT2A could affect the performance of intramolecular charge transfer significantly due to the inter‐ring torsion of T–T being decreased compared with phenylene–phenylene (P–P) spacer of CFP2A in the researhcers' previous report. It was also found that increasing the number of π‐conjugated unit gradually enhanced charge separation between the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of these dyes, leading to a high‐efficiency photocurrent generation. The HOMO–LUMO energy gaps were calculated to be 2.51, 2.37, and 2.50 eV for CFT1A, CFT2A, and CFT1PA respectively. Moreover, the calculated adsorption energies of these dyes on TiO2 cluster were ~14 kcal/mol, implying that these dyes strongly bind to TiO2 surface. Furthermore, the electronic HOMO and LUMO shapes of all dye–TiO2 complexes exhibited injection mechanism of electron via intermolecular charge‐transfer transition. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The ground state geometries have been computed by using density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-31G*, B3LYP/6-31G**, and PCM-B3LYP/6-31G* level of theories. The highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMOs) are delocalized on whole of the molecule and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMOs) are localized on the tricarbonitrile. The lowest HOMO and LUMO energies have been observed for Dye1 while highest for Dye4. The LUMO energies of Dye1–Dye4 are above the conduction band of TiO2 and HOMOs are below the redox couple. The absorption spectra have been computed in solvent (methanol) and without solvent by using time-dependant DFT at TD-B3LYP/6-31G*, TD-B3LYP/6-31G**, and PCM-TD-B3LYP/6-31G* level of theories. The calculated maximum absorption wavelengths of the spectra in methanol are in good agreement with experimental evidences. The maximum absorption wavelengths of new designed sensitizers are red shifted compared to parent molecule. The electronic coupling constant and electron injection have been computed by first principle investigations. The improved electronic coupling constant and electron injection revealed that new modeled systems would be efficient sensitizers.  相似文献

The relationships between electronic structures and spectra properties are investigated by DFT/TDDFT for terthiophene derivatives, BMA‐3T (tri‐aryl amine end‐capped terthiophene), BBA‐3T (tri‐aryl amine and tri‐aryl boron end‐capped terthiophene) and BPB‐3T (tri‐aryl boron end‐capped terthiophene). The calculated results show that BMA‐3T, BBA‐3T and BPB‐3T have higher HOMO energy level and lower ionization potentials (IPs) than 3T. BMA‐3T has good hole injection ability and hole‐transport property as reported in experiment. The designed molecule of BBA‐3T and BPB‐3T own lower LUMO level and higher electron affinities (EAs) than BMA‐3T, which facilitate electron injection and improve their electron‐transport properties. Surprisingly, BPB‐3T has preferable charge equilibrium property since its hole reorganization energy (λh) is close to electron reorganization energy (λe). The ΔE (HOMO−LUMO) and Eg of these three derivatives are narrower compared to 3T, and the absorption as well as emission spectrum exhibited red‐shifts.  相似文献

The ground state geometries, frontier molecular orbital properties, and absorption properties of 4,4′-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy))dibenzaldehyde (EDO-DBDHD) and its polymorph have been studied theoretically. The density functional theory (DFT) method was employed to optimize the ground state geometries, and theoretical data reveal that EDO-DBDHD features the planar molecular conformations, in contrast to V-shaped structures of its polymorph, which agrees with the experimental data. Additionally, the absorption spectra of both compounds were predicted using time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The calculated results show that the lowest lying absorption bands of these compounds have the transition configurations of HOMO → LUMO, resulting in the transition character of π→π*/n→π*. The transition of HOMO → LUMO+3 mainly contributes to the highest lying absorption bands of two compounds at 225 nm with the character of π→π*/n→π*.  相似文献

The thermal reactions of N-fused tetraarylporphyrins or N-confused tetraarylporphyrins with Re2(CO)10 gave the rhenium(I) tricarbonyl complexes bearing N-fused porphyrinato ligands (4) in moderate to good yields. The rhenium complexes 4 are characterized by mass, IR, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and the structures of tetraphenylporphynato complex 4a and its nitro derivative 15 are determined by X-ray single crystal analysis. The rhenium complexes 4 show excellent stability against heat, light, acids, bases, and oxidants. The aromatic substitution reactions of 4 proceed without a loss of the center metal to give the nitro (15), formyl (16), benzoyl (17), and cyano derivatives (19), regioselectively. In the electrochemical measurements for 4, one reversible oxidation wave and two reversible reduction waves are observed. Their redox potentials imply narrow HOMO-LUMO band gaps of 4 and are consistent with their electronic absorption spectra, in which the absorption edges exceed 1000 nm. Theoretical study reveals that the HOMO and LUMO of the rhenium complexes are exclusively composed of the N-fused porphyrin skeleton. Protonation of 4 takes place at the 21-position regioselectively, reflecting the high coefficient of the C21 atom in the HOMO orbital. The skeletal rearrangement reaction from N-confused porphyrin Re(I) complex (8) to N-fused porphyrin Re(I) complex (4) is suggested from the mechanistic study as well as DFT calculations.  相似文献

Incorporating tungsten into the N3 core of a N‐fused porphyrin (NFP; 1 ) affords high‐valent tungsten(VI)‐NFP complexes, WClO2‐1 and 21‐chlorinated WClO2‐3 . The X‐ray structure of WClO2‐1 reveals a distorted octahedral geometry with sitting atop metal coordination. The absorption spectrum of WClO2‐1 displays bathochromically shifted Q‐like bands beyond 1000 nm, indicating an inherently narrow HOMO‐LUMO energy gap. DFT calculations show that the degeneracy of the LUMO and LUMO+1 pair of 1 is significantly resolved by the tungsten(VI) coordination. Conclusively, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry provide a rationale for the narrow HOMO‐LUMO energy gap in the “16‐electron” d0 tungsten(VI)‐NFP complexes.  相似文献

Two novel 1,3‐dithiole‐2‐ylidene derivatives with a push–pull structures, 3‐(4,5‐dicarbomethoxy‐1,3‐dithiol‐2‐ylidene)naphthopyranone 1 and 3‐(4,5‐dimethylthio‐1,3‐dithiol‐2‐ylidene)naphthopyranone 2 , have been synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, IR, MS. The UV–vis spectra of 1 , 2 in CH2Cl2, the lowest‐energy absorption bands, are centered at 280, 316, and 430 nm for 1 and 284, 317, and 450 nm for 2 , respectively, which are caused by the HOMO → LUMO single electron promotion. Furthermore, the steady‐state fluorescence originating states of 1 , 2 from the excited charge‐transfer were observed. To estimate the position and energies of frontier orbitals for 1 , 2 , DFT calculations were performed using the Gaussian 03 program at the B3LYP/6‐31 G* level. The calculated vertical excitation energies are in good agreement with the experimental data. The high HOMO–LUMO gaps of 1 (3.08 eV) and 2 (3.00 eV) indicate high kinetic stability of the title compounds.  相似文献

Tetrameric porphyrin formation of 2‐hydroxymethylpyrrole fused with porphyrins through a bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene unit gave bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene‐fused porphyrin pentamers. Thermal conversion of the pentamers gave fully π‐conjugated cruciform porphyrin pentamers fused with benzene units in quantitative yields. UV/Vis spectra of fully π‐conjugated porphyrin pentamers showed one very strong Q absorption and were quite different from those of usual porphyrins. From TD‐DFT calculations, the HOMO level is 0.49 eV higher than the HOMO?1 level. The LUMO and LUMO+1 levels are very close and are lower by more than 0.27 eV than those of other unoccupied MOs. The strong Q absorption was interpreted as two mutually orthogonal single‐electron transitions (683 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO; 680 nm: 86 %, HOMO→LUMO+1). The two‐photon absorption (TPA) cross section value (σ(2)) of the benzene‐fused porphyrin pentamer was estimated to be 3900 GM at 1500 nm, which is strongly correlated with a cruciform molecular structure with multidirectional π‐conjugation pathways.  相似文献

The geometries, energies, and electronic properties of a series of phosphorescent Pt(II) complexes including FPt, CFPt, COFPt, and NFPt have been characterized within density functional theory DFT calculations which can reproduce and rationalize experimental results. The properties of excited‐states of the Pt(II) complexes were characterized by configuration interaction with singles (CIS) method. The ground‐ and excited‐state geometries were optimized at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ and CIS/LANL2DZ levels, respectively. In addition, we also have performed a triplet UB3LYP optimization for complex FPt and compared it with CIS method in the emission properties. The datum (562.52 nm) of emission wavelength for complex FPt, which were computed based on the triplet UB3LYP optimization excited‐state geometry, is not agreement with the experiment value (500 nm). The absorption and phosphorescence wavelengths were computed based on the optimized ground‐ and excited‐state geometries, respectively, by the time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) methods. The results revealed that the nature of the substituent at the phenylpyridine ligand can influence the distributions of HOMO and LUMO and their energies. Moreover, the auxiliary ligand pyridyltetrazole can make the molecular structure present a solid geometry. In addition, the charge transport quality has been estimated approximately by the predicted reorganization energy (λ). Our result also indicates that the substitute groups and different auxiliary ligand not only change the nature of transition but also affect the rate and balance of charge transfer. By summarizing the results, we can conclude that the NFPt is good OLED materials with a solid geometry and a balanced charge transfer rate. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ground geometrical and electronic structures, charge transfer (CT) behaviors, absorption, and emission properties of the three copper(I) complexes [Cu(pypz)(POP)]+ (1) , [Cu(pympz)(POP)]+ (2) , and [Cu(pytfmpz)(POP)]+ (3) (pypz=1‐(2‐pyridyl)pyrazole, pympz=3‐methyl‐1‐(2‐pyridyl)pyrazole, and pytfmpz=3‐trifluoromethyl‐1‐(2‐pyridyl)pyrazole), have been investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT). The vertical absorption energies of the all copper(I) complexes are well reproduced by TD‐DFT calculations based on the CT amount calculations. The triplet emission properties of the all copper(I) complexes were correctly evaluated at BMK/LANL2DZ/6‐31G* level of theory. In addition, the thermally activated delayed fluorescence properties of 1–3 were discussed in detail based on the spatial separation of the HOMO and LUMO and vertical excited energies. These theoretical insights should be expected to provide some guides for the design and synthesis of efficient luminescent copper(I) complexes. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The optimized geometry, dipole moment, and HOMO–LUMO gap for three monoethynylpyridines and six diethynylpyridines have been computed using DFT/B3LYP/6‐311++g(3df,3p) level of theory, and the first 11 vertical ionization energies and electron affinity of these compounds have been calculated using various electron propagator decouplings. The outer valence Green's function approximant of the electron propagator theory offers closest agreement with experimental photoelectron spectrum, and the results for structural suitability, dipole moment, HOMO–LUMO gap, ionization energies, and electron affinity indicate that 2‐ethynylpyridine among monoethynylpyridines and 2,6‐diethynylpyridine among diethynylpyridines may be useful precursors for the preparation of conducting polymers. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Frontier molecular orbitals can be visualized and selectively set to achieve blue phosphorescent metal complexes. For this purpose, the HOMOs and LUMOs of tridentate PtII complexes were measured using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The introduction of electron‐accepting or ‐donating moieties enables independent tuning of the frontier orbital energies, and the measured HOMO–LUMO gaps are reproduced by DFT calculations. The energy gaps correlate with the measured and the calculated energies of the emissive triplet states and the experimental luminescence wavelengths. This synergetic interplay between synthesis, microscopy, and spectroscopy enabled the design and realization of a deep‐blue triplet emitter. Finding and tuning the electronic “set screws” at molecular level constitutes a useful experimental method towards an in‐depth understanding and rational design of optoelectronic materials with tailored excited state energies and defined frontier‐orbital properties.  相似文献

Tandem C?H activation/arylation between unactivated arenes and aryl halides catalyzed by iron complexes that bear redox‐active non‐innocent bisiminopyridine ligands is reported. Similar reactions catalyzed by first‐row transition metals have been shown to involve substrate‐based aryl radicals, whereas our catalytic system likely involves ligand‐centered radicals. Preliminary mechanistic investigations based on spectroscopic and reactivity studies, in conjunction with DFT calculations, led us to propose that the reaction could proceed through an inner‐sphere C?H activation pathway, which is rarely observed in the case of iron complexes. This bielectronic noble‐metal‐like behavior could be sustained by the redox‐active non‐innocent bisiminopyridine ligands.  相似文献
