This Letter presents a search for pair production of heavy down-type quarks decaying via b^{'}→Wt in the lepton+jets channel, as b^{'}b[over ˉ]^{'}→W^{-}tW^{+}t[over ˉ]→bb[over ˉ]W^{+}W^{-}W^{+}W^{-}→l^{±}νbb[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]. In addition to requiring exactly one lepton, large missing transverse momentum, and at least six jets, the invariant mass of nearby jet pairs is used to identify high transverse momentum W bosons. In data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb^{-1} from pp collisions at sqrt[s]=7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector, a heavy down-type quark with mass less than 480?GeV can be excluded at the 95% confidence level.  相似文献

We present a light-front determination of the pionic contribution to the nucleon self-energy, Σ(π), to second order in pion-baryon coupling constants that allows the pion-nucleon vertex function to be treated in a model-independent manner constrained by experiment. The pion mass μ dependence of Σ(π) is consistent with chiral perturbation theory results for small values of μ and is also linearly dependent on μ for larger values, in accord with the results of lattice QCD calculations. The derivative of Σ(π) with respect to μ(2) yields the dominant contribution to the pion content, which is consistent with the d[over ˉ]-u[over ˉ] difference observed experimentally in the violation of the Gottfried sum rule.  相似文献

We have studied the production of B hadrons in 1.8-TeV pp[over ˉ] collisions. We present measurements of the fragmentation fractions, f_{u}, f_{d}, f_{s}, and f_{baryon}, of produced b quarks that yield B^{+}, B^{0}, B_{s}^{0}, and Λ[over ˉ]_{b}^{0} hadrons. Reconstruction of five electron-charm final states yields f_{s}/( f_{u}+f_{d})=0.213±0.068 and f_{baryon}/( f_{u}+f_{d})=0.118±0.042, assuming f_{u}=f_{d}. If all B hadrons produced in pp[over ˉ] collisions cascade to one of these four hadrons, we determine f_{u}=f_{d}=0.375±0.023, f_{s}=0.160±0.044, and f_{baryon}=0.090±0.029. If we do not assume f_{u}=f_{d}, we find f_{d}/f_{u}=0.84±0.16.  相似文献

We report the experimental confirmation of optical anisotropy in [112]-oriented GaAs/(Al,Ga) As quantum well structures. A theoretical calculation of the momentum matrix elements predicts the existence of this anisotropy and its dependence on the polarization of the incident radiation. It is found that recombination emission from photoluminescence excitation for the fundamental e→hh1 transition is anisotropic for incident light polarized along the two orthogonal [1¯10] and [111¯] crystallographic directions. No anisotropy is found in identically prepared [001]-oriented structures either theoretically, or experimentally.  相似文献

The spin dynamics of electrons in low-symmetry quantum wells (QWs) under conditions of interband excitation by ultrashort unpolarized light pulses is investigated. It is shown that after the transmission, spin polarization appears in the system after a time comparable with the electron momentum relaxation time for an electron pulse and then vanishes. The microscopic theory of spin orientation of electrons by optical pulses carrying zero angular momentum is developed for asymmetric QWs grown from semiconductors with the zinc blende lattice along the [110] crystallographic direction. Pumping with unpolarized light in such structures in the normal incidence geometry induces a spin in the QW plane along the [1[`1]0][1\bar 10] axis.  相似文献

We show that a microwave near-field coaxial resonator system allows mechanical cantilever excitation on a scale much shorter than the microwave wavelength. Thermal noise is observed in the unexcited system, enabling room temperature displacement sensitivity of ∼70 fm/Hz1/2. The measured force between near-field probe and cantilever varies with separation, in excellent agreement with theory. Uniquely, optical excitation and read-out lasers are also included. The dependence of mechanical resonator quality factor on ambient air pressure has been accurately measured. We have demonstrate passive cantilever mode cooling from 300 K to 80 K by frequency detuning the microwave resonator and propose pulsed cooling operation to enable several high-sensitivity applications.  相似文献

阐述了对硅悬臂梁谐振子进行光激励研究的结果,结果表明,谐振子的振幅与激励光斑的位置以及所激励的模态有关,在模态的两节点的中心位置进行激励,可得到最大的振幅,而且振幅随着激励光斑偏离子中心位置而下降基节点处激励时,振幅达到最小。上述结论也适用于其它点热源激励的微机械谐振器,并为点热激激励的微机械谐振器的设计和制作提供了依据。  相似文献

A search for the Higgs boson has been performed in the H→WW(*)→?(+)ν?(-)ν[over ˉ] channel (?=e/μ) with an integrated luminosity of 2.05 fb(-1) of pp collisions at √s=7 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events over the expected background is observed and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 110 GeV相似文献

采用熔融冷却法制备了铕掺杂碱土金属硼铋酸盐玻璃(BBME,BBCE,BBSE,BBBE)。研究了玻璃的密度、摩尔体积、光学碱度等物理性质,分析了玻璃的结构、光学性质和热稳定性。结果表明,从BBME到BBBE,玻璃结构致密程度不断下降。Eu~(3+)能较好地熔融到玻璃中,成为良好的发光中心,在465 nm和613 nm处分别有强烈的蓝光激发和橙红光发射,激发和发射强度从BBME到BBBE不断增强。玻璃均呈现非晶态,其结构对称性相对较低,从BBME到BBBE呈下降趋势。玻璃结构主要组成为非对称的[BO_3]三角体、松散的[BO_4]四面体、[BiO_3]三角体以及含[BO_4]四面体的三硼环、四硼环和五硼环,结构中均不存在硼六圆环,也不存在含[BO_3]三角体的五硼环、焦硼环和正硼环。研究结果表明,所研制的低温铕掺杂碱土金属硼铋酸盐玻璃具有热稳定好、折射率相对适宜的优点,有望成为未来白光LED(荧光粉)玻璃陶瓷的良好基质。  相似文献

The results of an experimental study of population dynamics following excitation of [0pt] and [0pt] states of rubidium are reported. Excitation transfer and quenching cross-sections in collisions with ground state rubidium atoms, and natural lifetimes have been measured. The experiment was performed in a vapour cell, using pulsed two-photon excitation and photon counting detection. The analysis of time dependent signals was based on a rate equation model in which transitions induced by thermal radiation have been accounted for. The measurements yielded following results: (1) [0pt] state J-mixing cross-section: [0pt] ; (2) cross-sections for [0pt] excitation transfer process: [0pt] ; (3) quenching cross-sections: [0pt] , [0pt] , [0pt] ; [0pt](4) radiative lifetimes: [0pt] ns, [0pt] ns, [0pt] ns. Absorption spectroscopic measurements of effective particle number densities of excited Xe, Ne, Cl, and H performed on a small scale discharge with well-defined current and voltage pulses are compared with the results of model calculations over a wide range of discharge parameters. The reaction kinetic pathways determining the ionization and dissociative attachment rates have been verified by the good agreement obtained during the quasi-steady-state phase of the discharge for Xe and H. To reproduce the rise times of the excited Xe particle number densities during the ignition phase, the electron collision excitation cross sections of ground state Xe published by Puech and Mizzi [1] had to be enhanced by about 25%. From the Ne measurements it is concluded that the electron collision excitation cross sections of ground state Ne published by Puech and Mizzi [1] may be too large near the threshold. Measurements of excited Cl particle number densities are unsuitable to check the attachment kinetics of HCl, because these densities are mainly determined by reactions not involving the formation of Cl ions.  相似文献

Measurement of the critical fracture strength of single-crystal silicon was carried out by contact-free laser-based excitation and detection of nonlinear surface acoustic wave (SAW) pulses. The three crystallographic geometries Si(112)111[over ], Si(112)1[over ]1[over ]1, and Si(110)11[over ]1 were examined. A comparison of the optically detected SAW transients and numerically calculated stress-strain fields allowed an estimate of the intrinsic mechanical strength without using an artificial precrack. Depending on the geometry, the critical strength varied between 5 and 7 GPa.  相似文献

We present a precise measurement of the CP violation parameter sin2φ1 and the direct CP violation parameter A(f) using the final data sample of 772×10(6) BB[over ˉ] pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/ψK(S)(0), ψ(2S)K(S)(0), χ(c1)K(S)(0), or J/ψK(L)(0) CP eigenstate and its flavor is identified from the decay products of the accompanying B meson. From the distribution of proper-time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP violation parameters: sin2φ1=0.667±0.023(stat)±0.012(syst) and A(f)=0.006±0.016(stat)±0.012(syst).  相似文献

The dry and wet dynamic characteristics of a vertical and a horizontal cantilever square plate [1] immersed in fluid are discussed from the viewpoint of a linear hydroelasticity theory [2–5]. The surface piercing vertical plate is partially immersed in the fluid and the influence of submerged plate length on the resonance frequencies investigated. For the horizontal plate the influence of submerged depth below the free surface on the resonance frequencies is examined. Incorporated into the theoretical model is a free surface boundary condition allowing wave disturbances to be present. The interaction existing between the vibrating cantilever plate and the free surface is clearly exhibited in the calculated curves describing the generalized hydrodynamic coefficients. A limited comparison between predictions and experimental data [1] is also included.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectra of naphthalene, C10H8, were obtained in the laboratory under conditions which provide an appropriate simulation of the cometary conditions: super-cooled gas phase molecules in a collision-free environment. Five spectra were recorded, the excitation energies ranging from 1422 to 5293 cm−1 above the first electronic state S1 at 32 020 cm−1. A comparison with previous jet-cooled naphthalene fluorescence spectra obtained by Beck et al. [1] and Hermine [2] shows that the former results are not consistent with the present ones. Spectra obtained by Beck et al. show weaker intensities at greater wavelengths compared to those obtained by Hermine and ourselves. We also measured the fluorescence lifetimes by recording the fluorescence decay as a function of time after the excitation of the molecules by monochromatic lasers and deduced the fluorescence quantum yields. A synthetic emission spectrum under solar irradiation is obtained for astrophysical implications.  相似文献

This paper proposes a simple collisional-radiative model to characterise capacitively coupled argon plasmas driven by conventional radio frequency in combination with optical emission spectroscopy and Langmuir probe measurements. Two major processes are considered in this model, electron-impact excitation and the spontaneous radiative decay. The diffusion loss term, which is found to be important for the two metastable states (4s[3/2]2, 4s'[1/2]0), is also taken into account. Behaviours of representative metastable and radiative states are discussed. Two emission lines (located at 696.5 nm and 750.4 nm) are selected and intensities are measured to obtain populated densities of the corresponding radiative states in the argon plasma. The calculated results agree well with that measured by Langmuir probe, indicating that the current model combined with optical emission spectroscopy is a candidate tool for electron density and temperature measurement in radio frequency capacitively coupled discharges.  相似文献

Entanglement, one of the most important features of quantum mechanics, is at the core of the famous Einstein-Bohr philosophical debate [1] and is the principal resource for quantum information processing [2]. We report on new experimental investigations of the properties of entangled photon pairs with emphasis on the tension between quantum mechanics and relativity [3,4]. Entangled photons are sent via an optical fiber network to two villages near Geneva, separated by more than 10 km where they are analyzed by interferometers [5]. The photon pair source is set as precisely as possible in the center so that the two photons arrive at the detectors within a time interval of less than 5 ps (corresponding to a path length difference of less than 1 mm). This sets a lower bound on the ‘speed of quantum information’ to 107 times the speed of light. Next, one detector is set in motion [6] so that both detectors, each in its own inertial reference frame, are first to do the measurement! The data always reproduces the quantum correlations.  相似文献

本文研究了Xe(6p[1/2]0, 6p[3/2]2, and 6p[5/2]2)原子在聚焦条件下的动力学过程. 激发能级的原子密度在聚焦条件下会显著地增加,因此两个高激发态原子之间的energy-pooling碰撞的概率也会增加. 这种energy-pooling碰撞主要有三种类型. 第一种类型为energy-pooling碰撞导致的电离. 一旦将激发激光聚焦,就可以从侧面的窗口观察到非常明显的电离现象,不论激发能级是6p[1/2]0、6p[3/2]2或6p[5/2]2能级. 这种电离的产生机理是energy-pooling电离或者一个Xe*原子再吸收一个光子产生电离. 第二种类型为跨越较大能极差的energy-pooling碰撞. 当激发能级为6p[1/2]0能级的情况下,两个6p[1/2]0原子碰撞会产生一个5d[3/2]1原子和一个6s''[1/2]0原子. 第三种类型为跨越较小能级差的energy-pooling碰撞. 以5个二次产生的6p能级为上能级的荧光强度都变得更强,并且这些荧光的上升沿都变得更陡峭. 产生这些6p原子的主要机理是energy-pooling碰撞并非简单的碰撞弛豫. 基于理想气体原子之间的碰撞概率公式,推导出两个6p[1/2]0原子的energy-pooling碰撞速率为6.39x108s-1. 此外,6s原子在聚焦条件下的密度也会增加. 因此所有的荧光曲线会因为辐射俘获效应而出现非常严重的拖尾.  相似文献

The excitation profiles of Raman bands of pyridine (1008 cm?1), triphenylphosphine (997 cm?1), [CN]? (2114 cm?1), and [Ru3O2(NH3)14]6+ (ruthenium red, 275 cm?1) adsorbed at roughened silver-aqueous interfaces have been measured over the range 458–799 nm. Apart from [CN]? for which experimental limitations prevented measurements with excitation in the far red, each of the adsorbates shows a pronounced excitation profile maximum for excitation in the range 590–750 nm. Measurements on triphenylphosphine at a silver-aqueous interface and on the same silver surface in gaseous nitrogen detected some difference in the excitation profiles due to change of medium. These results are discussed in relation to various theories of enhanced Raman scattering by adsorbates at metal surfaces.  相似文献

用含时的密度泛函(TD-DFT)方法研究了低带隙的中性和带电的交替共聚芴(Green 1),该化合物是由烷基取代芴和(1,2,5-噻吩基-3,4-硫重氮基)喹喔啉噻吩(T-TDQ-T)单元交替重复组成,对他们的激发态特性用二维(2D)和三维(3D)实空间分析方法做了进一步分析.对于中性的Green 1,分别得到其带隙、键能、激子结合能和核驰豫能.用3D跃迁密度方法对中性和带电的Green 1的跃迁偶极矩进行比较可显示出跃迁偶极矩的取向和强度;用3D电荷差异密度方法显示出激发后的中性和带电的Green 1电荷重新分布和比较,用2D实空间分析方法(跃迁密度矩阵)来研究中性和带电的Green1处于激发态时的电子空穴相干性.中性Green 1的激发态特性分别用TD-DFT和ZINDO两种方法进行了计算,比较得出电子-电子相互作用(在TD-DFT中)对激发态性质的重要影响.  相似文献
