In this paper the regularity of the Lagrangiansf(x, )=||(x)(1< 1(x)2< +) is studied. Our main result: If(x) is Holder continuous, then the Lagrangianf(x, )=f(x, )=||(x) is regular. The matrix of a permutation is a particular case of Markov transition matrices. In the same way, a measure-preserving bijection of a space (A, ) with a finite measure is a particular case of Markov transition operators. A Markov transition operator can also be considered as a map (polymorphism) (A, ) (A, ), which spreads points of (A, ) into measures on (A, ). Denote by * the multiplicative group of positive real numbers, and by the semigroup of measures on *. In this paper, we discuss *-polymorphisms and -polymorphisms, which are analogs of Markov transition operators (or polymorphisms) for the groups of bijections (A, ) (A, ) leaving the measure quasi-invariant; two types of polymorphisms correspond to the cases where A has finite and infinite measure, respectively. In the case where the space A itself is finite, the *-polymorphisms are some -valued matrices. We construct a functor from -polymorphisms to *-polymorphisms; it is described in terms of summations of -convolution products over matchings of Poisson configurations. On recurrence     
Summary LetT be a non-singular ergodic automorphism of a Lebesgue space (X,L,) and letf: X be a measurable function. We define the notion of recurrence of such a functionf and introduce the recurrence setR(f)={:f– is recurrent}. If , then R()={0}, but in general recurrence sets can be very complicated. We prove various conditions for a number to lie in R(f) and, more generally, forR(f) to be non-empty. The results in this paper have applications to the theory of random walks with stationary increments.  相似文献

The paper is a study of the limiting behaviour of the [n t]-th iterates of the well-known Post-Widder operatorsL n, x used in the real inversion of the Laplace transform. It is shown that the limiting operators constitute a semigroup T t;t0 of class (C 0) on a family C ,; , >0 of Banach spaces. Applications of the semigroup structure lead to a pointwise saturation theorem forL n, x and a characterization of convex functions inC , through an inequality involving the action ofL n, x.  相似文献

It is shown that if a linearly ordered set B does not contain as subsets sets of order type and * then B can be embedded in 2 . We construct an example of a set satisfying the above conditions which cannot be embedded in any 2 if < . Summary The aim of this paper is to generalize the well-known Eulerian numbers, defined by the recursion relationE(n, k) = (k + 1)E(n – 1, k) + (n – k)E(n – 1, k – 1), to the case thatn is replaced by . It is shown that these Eulerian functionsE(, k), which can also be defined in terms of a generating function, can be represented as a certain sum, as a determinant, or as a fractional Weyl integral. TheE(, k) satisfy recursion formulae, they are monotone ink and, as functions of , are arbitrarily often differentiable. Further, connections with the fractional Stirling numbers of second kind, theS(, k), > 0, introduced by the authors (1989), are discussed. Finally, a certain counterpart of the famous Worpitzky formula is given; it is essentially an approximation ofx in terms of a sum involving theE(, k) and a hypergeometric function.Dedicated to the memory of Alexander M. Let be a ring of sets, X a normed space, : X ( ) a bounded family of triangular functions. The following generalized Nikodym theorem is established: the family {} is uniformly bounded on if and only if it is bounded on every sequence of pairwise disjoint sets of which the union is a part of some set in . An analogous criterion is established also for semiadditive functions. This paper extends Kato's proof [5] of Banach's closed range theorem to locally convex spaces. Thus we consider a locally convex space (E,) and pairs (M,N) of closed subspaces. We call such a pair -open, if and only if there exists a directed, total system of seminorms generating the topology induced by a on M+N, such that the minimal gap p(M,N)>O for each p. Our main result is a generalisation of the closed range theorem and it consists of statements on relationships between the following properties: (a) M+N -closed, (b) M+N (E,E)-closed, (c) M+N (E,E)-closed, (d) (M,N) -open, (e) (M,N) (E,E)-open, (f) (M,N) (E,E)-open, (g) (M,N) (E,E)-open, (h) M+N=(MN), (i) M+N=(MN).By specialising the space (E,) and the subspaces M,N, our generalisation includes the closed range theorems of Dieudonné and Schwartz [4], Browder [1] and Mochizuki [12]. It is shown that these theorems not only hold for closed linear operators but even for closed linear relations. We are therefore able to obtain closed domain theorems which extend Brown's examinations in Banach-spaces [2] to locally convex spaces.

In [4] A. M. Chak, A. Sharma and J. Szabados characterized the Jacobi matrices P(,), (, > –1) for which the (0,2)-interpolation problem is regular. It follows from their result, that if n is odd and = , or if , are both odd integers and n > 1 + ( + )/2, then the (0,2)-interpolation problem is not regular. Recently, the author proved that for , both odd integers, the (0,2)-interpolation problem augmented with boundary (Hermite-type) conditions at the endpoints of the interval [–1,1] is regular. In this paper the convergence of this modified (0,2)-interpolation procedure is studied, if the inner nodal points are the roots of the ultraspherical polynomials with odd integer parameter.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with the (, )-distributivity of an MV-algebra , where and are nonzero cardinals. It is proved that if is singular and (, 2)-distributive, then it is (, )-distributive. We show that if is complete then it can be represented as a direct product of MV-algebras which are homogeneous with respect to higher degrees of distributivity.  相似文献
