Three-phase separation for Triton X-114 or Triton X-100 solutions with addition of hydrophobically modified hydroxyethyl cellulose was investigated experimentally. When the surfactant concentration was high enough, the solution slightly above the cloud point could separate into three macroscopic phases: a cloudy phase in between a clear phase and a bluish, translucent phase. The rate of phase separation was very low with the formation of the clear and cloudy phases followed by the emergence of the bluish phase. The volume fraction of the cloudy phase increases linearly with the global polymer concentration, whereas the volume fraction of the bluish phase increases linearly with the global surfactant concentration. Composition analyses found that most of the polymer stayed in the cloudy phase, as opposed to most of the surfactant in the bluish phase. The interesting phase behavior can be explained by an initial associative phase separation followed by a segregative phase separation in the cloudy phase.  相似文献

The effect of molecular weight on the polymorphic transformation of isotactic poly(1-butene)(iPB) under room temperature had been investigated by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). The phase transformation time, phase transformation rate and phase transformation time difference between phase I and phase II at a given transformation degree were used to analysis the phase transformation kinetics of iPB aging at room temperature. The results show that the reduction of phase II can occur quickly at room temperature and seem less dependent on the molecular weight. However, the molecular weight has great effect on the formation of phase I. When the phase transformation degree for phase I reach 90%, a distinct transformation time difference can be observed. In order to clearly explain the difference in the reduction of phase II and the growth of phase I, a phase transformation model from the chain conformation level for iPB with different molecular weight have been drawn. We present the adsorption kinetics and the surface phase behavior of n-hexadecyl dihydrogen phosphate (n-HDP) at the air-water interface by film balance and Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). A phase diagram, which shows a triple point at about 25.8 degrees C, is constructed by measuring the surface pressure (pi)-time (t) adsorption isotherms. Below 25.8 degrees C, each of the pi-t curves shows a plateau at about zero surface pressure indicating the existence of a first-order phase transition. The BAM observation confirms the order of this phase transition by presenting two-surface phases during this plateau. However, the BAM observation also shows clearly another second-order phase transition from an isotropic phase to a mosaic-textured liquid condensed (LC) phase. The initial phase is a gas (G) phase. Considering the peculiarity of the middle phase, we suggest this phase as an intermediate (I) phase. Above the triple point, the pi-t curves predict the existence of two-step first-order phase transitions. Similar to the results at lower temperatures, the BAM images show two-surface phases during these first-order phase transitions together with a second-order phase transition from an isotropic phase to an LC phase. These transitions are classified as a first-order G-LE (liquid expanded) phase transition, which is followed by another first-order LE-I phase transition. The second-order phase transition is an I-LC phase transition. Contrary to these results, at 36 degrees C both the pi-t measurements and the BAM observation present only two first-order phase transitions, which are G-LE at zero surface pressure and LE-LC transition at higher surface pressure. The shape of the domains during the main transitions shows a peculiar change from a circular at 20 degrees C to an elongated at 24 degrees C and finally to a circular shape at 36 degrees C. Such a change in the domain shapes has been explained considering the dehydration effect at higher temperatures as well as the nature of phases.  相似文献

This paper discusses the behaviour of angiotensin 1 and neurotensin together with their metabolites in a three-phase liquid phase microextraction under acidic conditions. Variations in donor phase, organic phase, and acceptor phase are studied with extraction recovery as response variable. It is proved that for all peptides the transport across the organic phase is mediated by heptane-1-sulphonic acid. n-Octanol gave overall best results as organic phase. A donor phase volume of 1.0 mL was chosen as a compromise between optimal recovery and robustness of the LPME device. The optimal pH of the donor phase (using acceptor phase of pH 2) was found to be different for the peptides, which opens opportunities for selective sample preparation. Decreasing the acceptor phase pH to 1.0 resulted in increased extraction recoveries. On using 1.0 mL of donor phase containing 50 mM heptane-1-sulphonic acid pH 3, n-octanol as organic phase immobilized in the pores of the fibre, and 20 microL of acceptor phase containing 0.1 mol/L HCl, extraction recoveries up to 82% (enrichment factor = 41) were achieved. To our knowledge this is the first report on liquid phase microextraction of angiotensins and neurotensins.  相似文献

The formation of lyotropic mesophases (liquid crystals) in four binary systems n-alkyl glycosides/water was examined in dependence on surfactant concentration, temperature and the chain lengths (alkyl = heptyl, octyl, nonyl, decyl). The binary phase diagrams were established and the enthalpies of phase transitions were measured. The following phase transitions were detected by texture observation and calorimetry: hexagonal phase H, lamellar phase L, cubic phase Q, gel phase G and crystalline phase C. The positions of the corresponding regions of these phases in the phase diagram were determined. Sequence of phases and the localization of the phase regions were depended on the chain length of the alkyl group. So in the binary system n-decyl-β-D-glucoside/water the H-phase was not observed.  相似文献

A polycatenar mesogen consisting of a four aromatic ring system with three long alkoxy chains and a bulky perfluorinated substituent has been synthesized and found to show the polymorphism of a cubic phase, a columnar phase and a smectic A phase, including a structured, fluid, optically isotropic phase with the phase transformation between the smectic A phase and the isotropic phase occurring continuously.  相似文献

在基于相位分析的三维测量系统中,为了准确地得到物体的高度,相位展开扮演着很重要的角色。传统的相位展开方法常常需要额外的投影图,而傅里叶变换轮廓术只需要采集一幅或两幅变形条纹图就可以实现对物体轮廓的测量,其方法速度快,易于实现。针对傅里叶变换轮廓术方法计算得到的截断相位分布,本文提出了一种利用截断相位与参考平面相位差值2π的整数倍数获得截断相位的正确级次,辅助相位展开的方法。当被测物体较复杂,或者相位截断次数较多时,该方法在已有参考平面相位的基础上虚拟新的相位平面,依次比较截断相位和虚拟相位,进行多次分级相位展开,结合多个展开相位结果,最终得到正确的展开相位。该方法展开速度快,展开错误不会蔓延传递。仿真和实物实验结果证明了该方法的可行性,说明该方法可用于傅里叶变换轮廓术中进行截断相位的快速展开。  相似文献

 以紫外拉曼光谱技术研究了在不同焙烧气氛中氧化锆样品的表面晶相结构及其转变过程.结果表明,在有氧气氛中焙烧的氧化锆样品易转变为单斜相,而在惰性气氛中焙烧可以有效地稳定样品体相和表面的四方相结构.在缺氧气氛中焙烧的样品暴露于空气中后,表面极易转变为单斜相,而其体相仍为四方相结构,这表明四方相氧化锆在样品表面是极不稳定的.  相似文献

The effect of mobile phase modifier and temperature on gradient reequilibration is examined using three different stationary phases. The stationary phases studied are a traditional C18 phase, a polar endcapped C18 phase, and an alkyl phase with a polar embedded group. It was observed that both temperature and choice of mobile phase organic modifier had an effect on gradient reequilibration volume on both the traditional C18 stationary phase and the polar endcapped phase. On both these phases, at any given temperature, the reequilibration volume was generally smaller when methanol was used as the mobile phase modifier as compared to acetonitrile. As the temperature is increased from 10 to 50 degrees C, significant reductions in reequilibration volume were observed with both mobile phase modifiers. In contrast, neither temperature nor choice of modifier appeared to have much effect on reequilibration volume when the polar embedded group stationary phase was considered.  相似文献

The microscopic phase behavior of the supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) + polyethylene oxide-2,6,8-trimethyl-4-nonyl ether (TMN) + water systems at about 3 wt% of TMN were investigated using a synthetic method with a microscope. The two types of TMN (TMN-3 and TMN-10) used in this work had molecular weight distributions caused by the distribution of the number of ethylene oxide groups. Two different types of phase transition were observed when pressure was decreased gradually at a constant temperature from the high pressure at which the transparent phase was observed to the low pressure at which the separate vapor–liquid phases were observed for the scCO2 + TMN-3 + water system at 3 wt% of TMN-3. The transparent phase was colorless under all experimental conditions and the phase transition from a transparent phase to a turbidity phase with small, dispersed droplets was observed at the higher side phase transition (higher phase transition pressure). As the pressure continued to decrease, another phase transition was observed from the phase with small droplets to a state with an accelerating aggregation of droplets (lower phase transition pressure). In the turbidity phase between the higher and the lower phase transition, the degree of turbidity became higher with decreasing pressure. On the other hand, in the phase observed below the lower phase transition, a new liquid phase adhered to the sapphire windows and the wall inside the optical cell.  相似文献

An emulsification liquid phase microextraction followed by on-line phase separation coupled to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is introduced based on a novel idea for the separation of dispersed organic phase from aqueous phase. In this method, the dispersed organic extraction phase was filtered using an in-line filter and it was separated from the water sample. The new approach is simple and, in addition to improving some limitations of the conventional emulsification liquid phase microextraction, eliminates the need for centrifugation in the phase separation step.  相似文献

We investigate the phase behavior of a model for colloidal hard platelets and rigid discotic molecules: oblate hard spherocylinders (OHSC). We perform free energy calculations using Monte Carlo simulations to map out the phase diagram as a function of the aspect ratio L∕D of the particles. The phase diagram displays a stable isotropic phase, a nematic liquid crystal phase for L∕D≤0.12, a columnar phase for L∕D?0.3, a tilted crystal phase for L?0.45, and an aligned crystal phase for L∕D?0.45. We compare the results to the known phase diagram of hard cut spheres. Thin cut spheres are almost cylinder-shaped, while the interactions between real discotic mesogens and colloidal platelets are more consistent with the toroidal rims of the OHSC. Since the shapes of the OHSC and the cut spheres are otherwise similar, the phase diagrams of the two types of particles are quite akin. However, the tilted crystal phase for OHSC, which is of a crystal type that is frequently found in experiments on disklike molecules, has not been found for hard cut spheres. Furthermore, although we have found a cubatic phase, it was shown to be definitely unstable, whereas the stability of the cubatic phase of cut spheres is still disputed. Finally, we also show that the phase boundaries differ significantly from those for cut spheres. These are remarkable consequences of a subtle change in particle shape, which show that for a detailed comparison with the phase behavior of experimental particles, the OHSC should be used as a model particle.  相似文献

The possible application of the supported liquid membrane (SLM) technique for the extraction of glyphosate is presented. For the extraction of this compound the SLM system has been applied with utilisation of Aliquat 336 as a cationic carrier incorporated into the membrane phase. The extraction efficiency of glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is dependent on the donor phase pH, carrier concentration in the organic phase and NaCl concentration in the acceptor phase. The optimal extraction conditions are: donor phase pH>11, acceptor phase of 2 M NaCl solution and the organic phase composed of 20% (w/w) Aliquot 336 solution in di-hexyl ether. Counter-coupled transport of chloride anions from the acceptor phase to the donor phase is a driving force of the mass transfer in this system.  相似文献

Recently we have successfully produced fine denier PA6 fibers by using additives containing lanthanide compounds. Meanwhile, crystallization and phase transition of PA6 fibers during spinning and drawing processes were investigated. During the spinning process, β phase crystal could be obtained in as-spun PA6 fibers which were produced with relatively high melt draw ratio, while γ phase crystal predominated when the melt draw ratio was relatively low. β phase crystal, whose behaviors are similar with those of γ phase by FT-IR and XRD characterization, could be transformed to α form easily when PA6 fibers are immersed in boiling water. However, γ phase crystal of PA6 remains unchanged in boiling water. Thus, β and γ phase crystals of PA6 can be differentiated by the crystalline behaviors of PA6 fibers after treatment in boiling water. Further experiments demonstrate that the β phase can also be produced during a drawing process where a phase transformation from γ to α occurs. In other words, β phase may act as an intermediate state during the phase transformation.  相似文献

The polymerisation of styrene in lyotropic liquid-crystalline (LC) phases of dioctadecyldimethylammonium bromide (DODAB) in water is explored. Amphiphile concentrations between 20 and 50 wt % are employed. The study is set out as a model study for polymerisation reactions in nonstabilised, nonfunctional bilayer systems. X-ray characterisation was used to assess the phase behaviour of the lyotropic mesophases before, during and after polymerisation. The DODAB/water system forms the lamellar phase within the concentration range considered. Addition of styrene to the lamellar phase of DODAB at an equimolar ratio induces a phase shift to a bicontinuous cubic phase at elevated temperatures near the phase-transition temperature. Upon polymerisation within this cubic phase, the phase structure is maintained if the system is kept at constant temperature; however, if the polymer/amphiphile phase is cooled, the lamellar phase, being typical of the DODAB/water system, is restored. It is concluded that, as a result of phase separation between the polymer and the amphiphile phase, the polymerisation in lyotropic LC phases does not provide a stable copy of the templating amphiphile phase. Summary An equation is derived which can describe how the retention of solutes is influenced by the composition of the mobile phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography, the retention of solutes in alkyl bonded stationary phase regarded as the complexation between solute molecule and the active sites on the surface of the stationary phase. When the stationary phase is not fully saturated by the organic modifier, the activity of the active sites, the activity coefficient of the adsorbed solute as well as the activity coefficient of the solute in the mobile phase depend on the composition of the mobile phase. However, when the stationary phase is fully saturated, the composition of the mobile phase mainly influences the activity coefficient of the solute in the mobile phase. In addition, the selectivity of retention is discussed in terms of the derived equation.  相似文献

Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the breakage of water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions by the freeze/thaw method. Most of the previous works focused on the phase transition of the water droplet phase. This paper emphasizes the effect of continuous oil phase transition. A series of oils with different freezing points were used as oil phases to produce model emulsions, which were then frozen and thawed. The emulsion whose oil phase froze before the water droplet phase did (OFBW) on cooling was readily demulsified with a dewatering ratio as high as over 80%, but the emulsion whose oil phase did not freeze when the water droplet phase did (NOFBW) was relatively hard to break. The difference in demulsification performance between them resulted from the distinction between their demulsification mechanisms via the analyses of the emulsion stability, emulsion crystallization/melting behaviors, oil phase physical properties, and wettability of the frozen oil phase, etc. For the OFBW emulsion, the first-frozen oil phase was ruptured by the volume expansion of the subsequently frozen droplet phase, and meanwhile, some liquid droplet phase was drawn into the fine gaps/crevices of the frozen oil phase to bridge droplets, which were considered to be essential to the emulsion breakage, whereas for the NOFBW emulsion, the demulsification was attributed to the collision mechanism proposed in our previous work. The findings may provide some criteria for selecting a proper oil phase in the emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) process and then offer an alternative approach to recycle the oil phase for continuous operation. This work may also be useful for emulsion stability against temperature cycling.  相似文献

Physicochemical relationships of the phase distribution of the reactants in epoxidation of fatty acid methyl esters of vegetable oils with performic acid generated in situ were determined.. The progress of epoxidation is accompanied by redistribution of the organic and aqueous phase volumes. The major cause of changes in the phase volumes is the transfer of peroxide oxygen from the aqueous phase into the organic phase upon formation of epoxy groups. A comparable change in the phase volumes is due to reactive extraction of aqueous phase components with the epoxy compounds formed.  相似文献
