We respectively investigate breakup and switching of the Manakov-typed bound vector solitons (BVSs) induced by two types of stochastic perturbations: the homogenous and nonhomogenous. Symmetry-recovering is discovered for the asymmetrical homogenous case, while soliton switching is found to relate with the perturbation amplitude and soliton coherence. Simulations show that soliton switching in the circularly-polarized light system is much weaker than that in the Manakov and linearly-polarized systems. In addition, the homogenous perturbations can enhance the soliton switching in both of the Manakov and non-integrable (linearly- and circularly-polarized) systems. Our results might be helpful in interpreting dynamics of the BVSs with stochastic noises in nonlinear optics or with stochastic quantum fluctuations in Bose–Einstein condensates. 相似文献

We demonstrate experimentally optical guidance of coherent light beams, using incoherent light. Such guidance is made possible by generation of partially spatially incoherent self-trapped dark beams (dark incoherent solitons) in a noninstantaneous nonlinear medium. In the one-dimensional case, the incoherent solitons induce single and Y-junction planar waveguides, whereas in the two-dimensional case, they form circular waveguides. These experiments introduce the possibility of controlling high-power laser beams with low-power incoherent light sources such as LED's or lightbulbs. 相似文献

A sideband-controllable soliton mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser is successfully demonstrated utilizing the nonlinear polarization rotation technique. The sidebands can be produced or suppressed by performing simple polarization light tuning with a polarization controller. It is believed that the elimination of the sidebands is due to the dispersive waves that are filtered out by the polarization-dependent isolator in the resonator. With the elimination of the Kelly sidebands, the obtained 3 d B bandwidth is 10.6 nm and the attainable pulse duration is0.86 ps. In this experiment, it is proven that the existence of Kelly sidebands limits the attainable pulse duration. 相似文献

Theoretical simulations about manipulating vector solitons with super-sech pulse shapes are conducted based on an optical fiber system. By changing the temporal pulses' parameters when the orthogonally polarized pulses have the same or different input central wavelengths, the output modes in orthogonal directions will demonstrate different properties. When the input orthogonal modes have the same central wavelength, the “2+2” pseudo-high-order vector soliton can be generated when the time delay is changed. While under the condition of different central wavelengths, orthogonal pulses with multiple peaks accompanied with two wavelengths can be achieved through varying the projection angle, time delay or phase difference. Our simulations are helpful to the study of optical soliton dynamics in optical fiber systems. 相似文献

We show that in a cavity soliton laser based on a VCSEL with a saturable absorber the solitons can spontaneously move if the
ratio of the carrier lifetimes in the amplifier and in the absorber takes appropriate values. The velocity is determined by
the parameters of the system. In devices with a finite circular cross section the solitons move on circular trajectories along
the boundary. This dynamical regime can be exploited to create trains of pulses with controlled intensity, frequency and wherein

本文采用分步傅里叶法,研究了在反常色散区孤子和艾里脉冲相互作用的规律,并且对相互作用后的孤子和艾里脉冲各自的强度、时域和时移进行了MATLAB仿真.通过仿真发现光孤子和艾里脉冲在光纤中相互重叠时,交叉相位调制(XPM)就会建立并且这种调制会影响孤子和艾里脉冲的性质.在相互作用过程中,孤子的形状保持不变,但是受到艾里脉冲自加速特性的影响孤子会发生偏移.艾里脉冲受XPM的影响会转化为孤子,传播方向也会发生偏移.可见,XPM使得艾里脉冲和孤子各自的性质都相互影响着对方.艾里脉冲和孤子的时域也会受到XPM的影响,使得原本不相同的脉冲形状都转变为含有一个主峰和一个次峰的相似结构,并且主峰和次峰的位置和脉冲宽度也大致相同,这也是艾里脉冲能够转换为孤子的一个依据.另外本文还模拟了不同输入强度r下的孤子和艾里脉冲的变化情况,模拟发现不管是艾里脉冲还是孤子时移都随着输入强度r的增大而增大,并且它们的变化趋势都是一样的,同时模拟还发现在相同的的r值下,时移也会随着a值的增大而增大. 相似文献

In homogeneous and isotropic nonlinear left-handed materials (LHMs), using the split step Fourier transform method, we demonstrate that two dark electromagnetic solitons which are the solutions of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (CNLS) move along a line toward each other, when the distance between them down to a certain value, the interaction of the two dark solitons can produce a stable bright electromagnetic pulse that behaves like a bright soliton. Although our mathematical analysis shows that the new generated stable bright pulse is not an exact solution of the CNLS, it can propagate steadily in the nonlinear LHMs. And this unusual phenomenon can also be observed in our numerical simulation results by another method. 相似文献

We propose the precision measurement of both angular rotation and of the gradient magnetic of a field based on the use of
matter wave interferometers with soliton states of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). We consider the formation of these soliton
states in a BEC with negative scattering length by an optical lattice produced by two counterpropagating laser beams. We determine
the parameters of both the initial condensate and the optical radiation necessary for the formation of coherent solitons.
We demonstrate
that this interferometer can be used to measure magnetic field gradient with a precision of 10-2 pT/cm. Our calculations show that the sensitivity of a gyroscope based on a ring, two-port matter wave interferometer can
achieve 2.6×10-7 rad s-1. The precision of this method is more than ten times greater than in that of rotating interferometer with cooled atoms. 相似文献

We report an experimental demonstration of optical header recognition that utilizes phase-dependent soliton interaction. A probe word composed of optical solitons is copropagated with a data word while cross-phase modulation from the data bits alters the soliton phases. During subsequent propagation the result of interaction between the solitons depends on the data pattern and is used to identify a desired data word. The method is noncorrelational, has a high contrast, and uses a pattern-detection threshold that does not depend on the desired data pattern. We have demonstrated recognition of 8-bit words at 63 Gbits/s with this technique. 相似文献

Symbolically investigated in this paper is a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with the varying dispersion and nonlinearity for the propagation of optical pulses in the normal dispersion regime of inhomogeneous optical fibers. With the aid of the Hirota method, analytic one- and two-soliton solutions are obtained. Relevant properties of physical and optical interest are illustrated. Different from the previous results, both the bright and dark solitons are hereby derived in the normal dispersion regime of the inhomogeneous optical fibers. Moreover, different dispersion profiles of the dispersion-decreasing fibers can be used to realize the soliton control. Finally, soliton interaction is discussed with the soliton control confirmed to have no influence on the interaction. The results might be of certain value for the study of the signal generator and soliton control. 相似文献

Dynamics of the bound vector solitons with random initial perturbations is investigated for the Manakov model, which describes the propagation of the multimode soliton pulses in nonlinear fiber optics and two-component matter-wave solitons in the quasi-one-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) without confining potential. We review the analytic two-bound-vector-soliton solutions and give the three-bound-vector-soliton solutions. Breakup of the typical bound state is presented numerically when the symmetry and asymmetry random perturbations are added to the initial conditions. Relationship between the lifetime of the bound state and amplitude of the random perturbation is discussed. Meanwhile, existence of the symmetry-recovering is illustrated for the bound vector solitons with the asymmetry random perturbations. Discussions of this paper could be expected to be helpful in interpreting the dynamics of the Manakov-typed bound vector solitons when the random initial noises in nonlinear optical fibers or stochastic quantum fluctuations in the BECs are considered. 相似文献

The nonlinear coupling between light beams and non-resonant ion density perturbations in a plasma is considered, taking into
account the relativistic particle mass increase and the light beam ponderomotive force. A pair of equations comprising a nonlinear
Schr?dinger equation for light beams and a driven (by the light beam pressure) ion-acoustic wave response is derived. It is
shown that the stationary solutions of our nonlinear equations can be represented in the form of a bright and dark/gray soliton
for the one-dimensional problem. We also present numerical results which exhibit that our bright soliton solutions are stable
exclusively for the values of the parameters compatible with our theory.

We present exact bright multi-soliton solutions of a generalized nonautonomous nonlinear Schrdinger equation with time-and space-dependent distributed coefficients and an external potential which describes a pulse propagating in nonlinear media when its transverse and longitudinal directions are nonuniformly distributed.Such solutions exist in certain constraint conditions on the coefficients depicting dispersion,nonlinearity,and gain(loss).Various shapes of bright solitons and interesting interactions between two solitons are observed.Physical applications of interest to the field and stability of the solitons are discussed. 相似文献

We report the numerical observation of discrete spatial solitons in a periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide array by applying an electrical field through electro-optical effect. We report on the experimental observation of induced solitons in a passively mode-locked fiber ring laser with a birefringence cavity. Owing to the cross coupling between the two orthogonal polarization components of the laser, it was found that if a soliton was formed along one cavity polarization axis, a weak soliton was also induced along the orthogonal polarization axis, and depending on the net cavity birefringence, the induced soliton could have either the same or different center wavelengths to that of the inducing soliton. Moreover, the induced soliton always had the same group velocity as that of the inducing soliton. They formed a vector soliton in the cavity. The perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation model is used to investigate the decay of a strong optical pulse in an absorbing medium with consideration of the nonlinear frequency shift of the pulse. The regularities of the spontaneous soliton production process are investigated numerically.
