Loday and Ronco defined an interesting Hopf algebra structure on the linear span of the set of planar binary trees. They showed that the inclusion of the Hopf algebra of non-commutative symmetric functions in the Malvenuto–Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations factors through their Hopf algebra of trees, and these maps correspond to natural maps from the weak order on the symmetric group to the Tamari order on planar binary trees to the boolean algebra. We further study the structure of this Hopf algebra of trees using a new basis for it. We describe the product, coproduct, and antipode in terms of this basis and use these results to elucidate its Hopf-algebraic structure. In the dual basis for the graded dual Hopf algebra, our formula for the coproduct gives an explicit isomorphism with a free associative algebra. We also obtain a transparent proof of its isomorphism with the non-commutative Connes–Kreimer Hopf algebra of Foissy, and show that this algebra is related to non-commutative symmetric functions as the (commutative) Connes–Kreimer Hopf algebra is related to symmetric functions.  相似文献

A commutative but not cocommutative graded Hopf algebra HN, based on ordered (planar) rooted trees, is studied. This Hopf algebra is a generalization of the Hopf algebraic structure of unordered rooted trees HC, developed by Butcher in his study of Runge-Kutta methods and later rediscovered by Connes and Moscovici in the context of noncommutative geometry and by Kreimer where it is used to describe renormalization in quantum field theory. It is shown that HN is naturally obtained from a universal object in a category of noncommutative derivations and, in particular, it forms a foundation for the study of numerical integrators based on noncommutative Lie group actions on a manifold. Recursive and nonrecursive definitions of the coproduct and the antipode are derived. The relationship between HN and four other Hopf algebras is discussed. The dual of HN is a Hopf algebra of Grossman and Larson based on ordered rooted trees. The Hopf algebra HC of Butcher, Connes, and Kreimer is identified as a proper Hopf subalgebra of HN using the image of a tree symmetrization operator. The Hopf algebraic structure of the shuffle algebra HSh is obtained from HN by a quotient construction. The Hopf algebra HP of ordered trees by Foissy differs from HN in the definition of the product (noncommutative concatenation for HP and shuffle for HN) and the definitions of the coproduct and the antipode, however, these are related through the tree symmetrization operator.  相似文献

In this paper we report on results of our investigation into the algebraic structure supported by the combinatorial geometry of the cyclohedron. Our new graded algebra structures lie between two well known Hopf algebras: the Malvenuto–Reutenauer algebra of permutations and the Loday–Ronco algebra of binary trees. Connecting algebra maps arise from a new generalization of the Tonks projection from the permutohedron to the associahedron, which we discover via the viewpoint of the graph associahedra of Carr and Devadoss. At the same time, that viewpoint allows exciting geometrical insights into the multiplicative structure of the algebras involved. Extending the Tonks projection also reveals a new graded algebra structure on the simplices. Finally this latter is extended to a new graded Hopf algebra with basis all the faces of the simplices.  相似文献

In this paper we describe the right-sided combinatorial Hopf structure of three Hopf algebras appearing in the context of renormalization in quantum field theory: the non-commutative version of the Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra, the non-commutative version of the charge renormalization Hopf algebra on planar binary trees for quantum electrodynamics, and the non-commutative version of the Pinter renormalization Hopf algebra on any bosonic field.  相似文献

We introduce an infinitesimal Hopf algebra of planar trees, generalising the construction of the non-commutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. A non-degenerate pairing and a dual basis are defined, and a combinatorial interpretation of the pairing in terms of orders on the vertices of planar forests is given. Moreover, the coproduct and the pairing can also be described with the help of a partial order on the set of planar forests, making it isomorphic to the Tamari poset. As a corollary, the dual basis can be computed with a Möbius inversion.  相似文献

Based on the ideas of Tannaka-Kre?n reconstruction, we present a categorical construction that assigns to any cleft Hopf algebra inclusion KH a coquasibialgebra having K* as a Hopf subalgebra. As a special case, the construction gives an intrinsic connection between the bismash product K#Q and the double cross- product Q?K* constructed from the same combinatorial data. A cocommutative coquasibialgebra is the same as a cocommutative bialgebra equipped with a Sweedler three-cocycle. Thus our construction assigns to every bicrossproduct (or Hopf algebra extension) of a commutative and a cocommutative factor a corresponding cocommutative double crossproduct equipped with a Sweedler three-cocycle. Based on this observation we use the construction to prove generalizations of Kac's exact sequence for the group of Hopf algebra extensions of a group algebra by a dual group algebra.  相似文献

We first show that increasing trees are in bijection with set compositions, extending simultaneously a recent result on trees due to Tonks and a classical result on increasing binary trees. We then consider algebraic structures on the linear span of set compositions (the twisted descent algebra). Among others, a number of enveloping algebra structures are introduced and studied in detail. For example, it is shown that the linear span of trees carries an enveloping algebra structure and embeds as such in an enveloping algebra of increasing trees. All our constructions arise naturally from the general theory of twisted Hopf algebras.  相似文献

Several Hopf algebra structures on vector spaces of trees can be found in the literature (cf. [10], [8], [2]). In this paper, we compare the corresponding notions of trees, the multiplications and comultiplications. The Hopf algebras are connected graded or, equivalently, complete Hopf algebras. The Hopf algebra structure on planar binary trees introduced by Loday and Ronco [10] is noncommutative and not cocommutative. We show that this Hopf algebra is isomorphic to the noncommutative version of the Hopf algebra of Connes and Kreimer [3]. We compute its first Lie algebra structure constants in the sense of [7], and show that there is no cogroup structure compatible with the Hopf algebra on planar binary trees.  相似文献

We consider the combinatorial Dyson-Schwinger equation X=B+(P(X)) in the non-commutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of planar rooted trees HNCK, where B+ is the operator of grafting on a root, and P a formal series. The unique solution X of this equation generates a graded subalgebra AN,P of HNCK. We describe all the formal series P such that AN,P is a Hopf subalgebra. We obtain in this way a 2-parameters family of Hopf subalgebras of HNCK, organized into three isomorphism classes: a first one, restricted to a polynomial ring in one variable; a second one, restricted to the Hopf subalgebra of ladders, isomorphic to the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions; a last (infinite) one, which gives a non-commutative version of the Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra. By taking the quotient, the last class gives an infinite set of embeddings of the Faà di Bruno algebra into the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees. Moreover, we give an embedding of the free Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra on D variables into a Hopf algebra of decorated rooted trees, together with a non-commutative version of this embedding.  相似文献

We discuss properties of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over weak bialgebras over commutative rings. The categories of left-left, left-right, right-left and right-right Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a weak Hopf algebra are isomorphic as braided monoidal categories. Yetter-Drinfeld modules can be viewed as weak Doi-Hopf modules, and, a fortiori, as weak entwined modules. IfH is finitely generated and projective, then we introduce the Drinfeld double using duality results between entwining structures and smash product structures, and show that the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is isomorphic to the category of modules over the Drinfeld double. The category of finitely generated projective Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a weak Hopf algebra has duality.  相似文献

We study connections among structures in commutative algebra, combinatorics, and discrete geometry, introducing an array of numbers, called Borel’s triangle, that arises in counting objects in each area. By defining natural combinatorial bijections between the sets, we prove that Borel’s triangle counts the Betti numbers of certain Borel-fixed ideals, the number of binary trees on a fixed number of vertices with a fixed number of “marked” leaves or branching nodes, and the number of pointed pseudotriangulations of a certain class of planar point configurations.  相似文献

We define and study a combinatorial Hopf algebra dRec with basis elements indexed by diagonal rectangulations of a square. This Hopf algebra provides an intrinsic combinatorial realization of the Hopf algebra tBax of twisted Baxter permutations, which previously had only been described extrinsically as a Hopf subalgebra of the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations. We describe the natural lattice structure on diagonal rectangulations, analogous to the Tamari lattice on triangulations, and observe that diagonal rectangulations index the vertices of a polytope analogous to the associahedron. We give an explicit bijection between twisted Baxter permutations and the better-known Baxter permutations, and describe the resulting Hopf algebra structure on Baxter permutations.  相似文献

We introduce bidendriform bialgebras, which are bialgebras such that both product and coproduct can be split into two parts satisfying good compatibilities. For example, the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra and the non-commutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebras of planar decorated rooted trees are bidendriform bialgebras. We prove that all connected bidendriform bialgebras are generated by their primitive elements as a dendriform algebra (bidendriform Milnor-Moore theorem) and then is isomorphic to a Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. As a corollary, the Hopf algebra of Malvenuto-Reutenauer is isomorphic to the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of planar rooted trees decorated by a certain set. We deduce that the Lie algebra of its primitive elements is free in characteristic zero (G. Duchamp, F. Hivert and J.-Y. Thibon conjecture).  相似文献

In this paper, we construct explicitly a noncommutative symmetric ( CS) system over the Grossman-Larson Hopf algebra of labeled rooted trees. By the universal property of the CS system formed by the generating functions of certain noncommutative symmetric functions, we obtain a specialization of noncommutative symmetric functions by labeled rooted trees. Taking the graded duals, we also get a graded Hopf algebra homomorphism from the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of labeled rooted forests to the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions. A connection of the coefficients of the third generating function of the constructed CS system with the order polynomials of rooted trees is also given and proved.  相似文献

The Hopf dual H° of any Poisson Hopf algebra H is proved to be a co-Poisson Hopf algebra provided H is noetherian. Without noetherian assumption, unlike it is claimed in literature, the statement does not hold. It is proved that there is no nontrivial Poisson Hopf structure on the universal enveloping algebra of a non-abelian Lie algebra. So the polynomial Hopf algebra, viewed as the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional abelian Lie algebra, is considered. The Poisson Hopf structures on polynomial Hopf algebras are exactly linear Poisson structures. The co-Poisson structures on polynomial Hopf algebras are characterized. Some correspondences between co-Poisson and Poisson structures are also established.  相似文献

Given a locally finite graded set A and a commutative, associative operation on A that adds degrees, we construct a commutative multiplication * on the set of noncommutative polynomials in A which we call a quasi-shuffle product; it can be viewed as a generalization of the shuffle product III. We extend this commutative algebra structure to a Hopf algebra (U, *, ); in the case where A is the set of positive integers and the operation on A is addition, this gives the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions. If rational coefficients are allowed, the quasi-shuffle product is in fact no more general than the shuffle product; we give an isomorphism exp of the shuffle Hopf algebra (U, III, ) onto (U, *, ) the set L of Lyndon words on A and their images { exp(w) w L} freely generate the algebra (U, *). We also consider the graded dual of (U, *, ). We define a deformation *q of * that coincides with * when q = 1 and is isomorphic to the concatenation product when q is not a root of unity. Finally, we discuss various examples, particularly the algebra of quasi-symmetric functions (dual to the noncommutative symmetric functions) and the algebra of Euler sums.  相似文献

Let D be the set of isomorphism types of finite double partially ordered sets, that is sets endowed with two partial orders. On ZD we define a product and a coproduct, together with an internal product, that is, degree-preserving. With these operations ZD is a Hopf algebra. We define a symmetric bilinear form on this Hopf algebra: it counts the number of pictures (in the sense of Zelevinsky) between two double posets. This form is a Hopf pairing, which means that product and coproduct are adjoint each to another. The product and coproduct correspond respectively to disjoint union of posets and to a natural decomposition of a poset into order ideals. Restricting to special double posets (meaning that the second order is total), we obtain a notion equivalent to Stanley's labelled posets, and a Hopf subalgebra already considered by Blessenohl and Schocker. The mapping which maps each double poset onto the sum of the linear extensions of its first order, identified via its second (total) order with permutations, is a Hopf algebra homomorphism, which is isometric and preserves the internal product, onto the Hopf algebra of permutations, previously considered by the two authors. Finally, the scalar product between any special double poset and double posets naturally associated to integer partitions is described by an extension of the Littlewood-Richardson rule.  相似文献

The connections recently established between combinatorial bicolored plane trees and Shabat polynomials show that the world of plane trees is incredibly rich with different mathematical structures. In this article we use Shabat polynomials to introduce a new operation, that of a composition, for combinatorial bicolored plane trees. The composition may be considered as a generalized symmetry.  相似文献
