We consider a class of variational inequalities defining the so-called hysteresis play operator. We propose a new approach to discontinuous BV-solutions based on measure theoretical arguments, which enable us to infer the existence of solutions as a simple consequence of the classical theory. In this way, we generalize a recent result where only continuous BV-solutions were studied. We also provide a representation formula which allows to deduce the continuity of the play operator from general theorems on hysteresis operators.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new system of generalized vector variational inequalities with variable preference. This extends the model of system of generalized variational inequalities due to Pang and Konnov independently as well as system of vector equilibrium problems due to Ansari, Schaible and Yao. We establish existence of solutions to the new system under weaker conditions that include a new partial diagonally convexity and a weaker notion than continuity. As applications, we derive existence results for both systems of vector variational-like inequalities and vector optimization problems with variable preference.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We study the inverse problem of identifying a variable parameter in variational and quasi-variational inequalities. We consider a quasi-variational inequality involving a multi-valued monotone map and give a new existence result. We then formulate the inverse problem as an optimization problem and prove its solvability. We also conduct a thorough study of the inverse problem of parameter identification in noncoercive variational inequalities which appear commonly in applied models. We study the inverse problem by posing optimization problems using the output least-squares and the modified output least-squares. Using regularization, penalization, and smoothing, we obtain a single-valued parameter-to-selection map and study its differentiability. We consider optimization problems using the output least-squares and the modified output least-squares for the regularized, penalized and smoothened variational inequality. We give existence results, convergence analysis, and optimality conditions. We provide applications and numerical examples to justify the proposed framework.  相似文献

We deal with the existence of weak solutions of double degenerate quasilinear parabolic inequalities with a Signorini-Dirichlet-Neumann type mixed boundary condition, which may degenerate in certain subset of the boundary or on a segment in the interior of the domain and in time. The main tools in our study are the maximM monotone property of the derivative operator with zero-initial valued conditions and the theory of pseudomonotone perturbations of maximal monotone mappings.  相似文献

We prove an existence theorem for the optimal control of variational inequalities governed by a pseudomonotone operator: the cost is assumed to be quadratic. Then, we give an extension of the theorem to more general costs (assuming the operator to be monotone); we also give a result on a perturbation problem. This work is an extended part of the author's thesis, written under the direction of Professor T. In this article, we consider weighted variational inequalities over a product of sets and a system of weighted variational inequalities in normed spaces. We extend most results established in Ansari, Q.H., Khan, Z. and Siddiqi, A.H., (Weighted variational inequalities, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 127(2005), pp. 263–283), from Euclidean spaces ordered by their respective non-negative orthants to normed spaces ordered by their respective non-trivial closed convex cones with non-empty interiors.  相似文献

This paper deals with the mathematical and numerical analysis of a class of abstract implicit evolution variational inequalities. The results obtained here can be applied to a large variety of quasistatic contact problems in linear elasticity, including unilateral contact or normal compliance conditions with friction. In particular, a quasistatic unilateral contact problem with nonlocal friction is considered. An algorithm is derived and some numerical examples are presented. A class of gap functions for variational inequalities   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Recently Auchmuty (1989) has introduced a new class of merit functions, or optimization formulations, for variational inequalities in finite-dimensional space. We develop and generalize Auchmuty's results, and relate his class of merit functions to other works done in this field. Especially, we investigate differentiability and convexity properties, and present characterizations of the set of solutions to variational inequalities. We then present new descent algorithms for variational inequalities within this framework, including approximate solutions of the direction finding and line search problems. The new class of merit functions include the primal and dual gap functions, introduced by Zuhovickii et al. (1969a, 1969b), and the differentiable merit function recently presented by Fukushima (1992); also, the descent algorithm proposed by Fukushima is a special case from the class of descent methods developed in this paper. Through a generalization of Auchmuty's class of merit functions we extend those inherent in the works of Dafermos (1983), Cohen (1988) and Wu et al. (1991); new algorithmic equivalence results, relating these algorithm classes to each other and to Auchmuty's framework, are also given.Corresponding author.  相似文献

Variational inequality problems (VIP) are an important class of mathematical problems that appear in many practical situations. So, it is important to find efficient and robust numerical solution methods. An appealing idea is to embed the VIP into a one-parametric problem which, then, can be solved numerically by a path-following method. In this article, we study two different types of embeddings and we analyse their generic properties. The non-linear complementarity problem and box-constrained VIP are discussed as special cases.  相似文献

The augmented Lagrangian method is attractive in constraint optimizations. When it is applied to a class of constrained variational inequalities, the sub-problem in each iteration is a nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP). By introducing a logarithmic-quadratic proximal term, the sub-NCP becomes a system of nonlinear equations, which we call the LQP system. Solving a system of nonlinear equations is easier than the related NCP, because the solution of the NCP has combinatorial properties. In this paper, we present an inexact logarithmic-quadratic proximal augmented Lagrangian method for a class of constrained variational inequalities, in which the LQP system is solved approximately under a rather relaxed inexactness criterion. The generated sequence is Fejér monotone and the global convergence is proved. Finally, some numerical test results for traffic equilibrium problems are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the method.   相似文献

For variational inequalities in a finite-dimensional space, the convergence of a regularization method is examined in the case of a nonmonotone basic mapping. It is shown that a fairly general sufficient condition for the existence of solutions to the original problem also guarantees the convergence and existence of solutions to perturbed problems. Examples of applications to problems on order intervals are presented.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is the mathematical study of a general class of semicoercive variational hemivariational inequalities introduced by P.D. Panagiotopoulos in order to formulate problems of mechanics involving nonconvex and nonsmooth energy function. Our approach is based on the asymptotic behavior of the functions which are involved in the variational problems.  相似文献

In this article, we use degree theory developed in Kien et al. [B.T. Kien, M.-M. Wong, N.C. Wong, and J.C. Yao, Degree theory for generalized variational inequalities and applications, Eur. J. Oper. Res. 193 (2009), pp. 12–22.] to prove a result on the existence of solutions to set-valued variational inequality under a weak coercivity condition, provided that the set-valued mapping is upper semicontinuous with nonempty compact convex values. If the set-valued mapping is pseudomonotone in the sense of Karamardian and upper semicontinuous with nonempty compact convex values, it is shown that the set-valued variational inequality is strictly feasible if and only if its solution set is nonempty and bounded.  相似文献

In this article, we intend to study several scalar-valued gap functions for Stampacchia and Minty-type vector variational inequalities. We first introduce gap functions based on a scalarization technique and then develop a gap function without any scalarizing parameter. We then develop its regularized version and under mild conditions develop an error bound for vector variational inequalities with strongly monotone data. Further, we introduce the notion of a partial gap function which satisfies all, but one of the properties of the usual gap function. However, the partial gap function is convex and we provide upper and lower estimates of its directional derivative.  相似文献
