An inverse polynomial method of determining the unknown leading coefficient k=k(x) of the linear Sturm–Liouville operator Au=−(k(x)u(x))+q(x)u(x), x(0,1), is presented. As an additional condition only two measured data at the boundary (x=0,x=1) are used. In absence of a singular point (u(x)≠0,u(x)≠0,x[0,1]) the inverse problem is classified as a well-conditioned . If there exists at least one singular point, then the inverse problem is classified as moderately ill-conditioned (u(x0)=0,x0(0,1);u(x)≠0,xx0;u(x)≠0,x[0,1]) and severely ill-conditioned (u(x0)=u(x0)=0,x0(0,1);u(x)≠0,u(x)≠0,xx0). For each of the cases direct problem solution is approximated by corresponding polynomials and the inverse problem is reformulated as a Cauchy problem for to the first order differential equation with respect the unknown function k=k(x). An approximate analytical solution of the each Cauchy problems are derived in explicit form. Numerical simulations all the above cases are given for noise free and noisy data. An accuracy of the presented approach is demonstrated on numerical test solutions.  相似文献

We study the inverse spectral problem for the Sturm–Liouville operator whose piecewise constant coefficient A(x) has discontinuity points x k , k=1,...,n, and jumps A k =A(x k +0)/A(x k -0). We show that if the discontinuity points x 1,...,x n are noncommensurable, i.e., none of their linear combinations with integer coefficients vanishes; then the spectral function of the operator determines all discontinuity points x k and jumps A k uniquely. We give an algorithm for finding x k and A k in finitely many steps.  相似文献

A spectral problem for the Sturm–Liouville equation on the edges of an equilateral regular star‐tree with the Dirichlet boundary conditions at the pendant vertices and Kirchhoff and continuity conditions at the interior vertices is considered. The potential in the Sturm–Liouville equation is a real–valued square summable function, symmetrically distributed with respect to the middle point of any edge. If {λj}is a sequence of real numbers, necessary and sufficient conditions for {λj}to be the spectrum of the problem under consideration are established. Given a regular nonvanishing complex valued solution y0 of the equation , x ∈ (a,b), assume that it is n times differentiable at a point x0 ∈ [a,b]. We present explicit formulas for calculating the first n derivatives at x0 for any solution of the equation . That is, a map transforming the Taylor expansion of y0 into the Taylor expansion of u is constructed. The result is obtained with the aid of the representation for solutions of the Sturm‐Liouville equation in terms of spectral parameter power series. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper deals with a class of integral transforms arising from a singular Sturm–Liouville problem y″−q(x)y=−λy, x(a,b), in the limit-point case at one end or both ends of the interval (a,b). The paper completely solves the problem of characterization of the image of a function that has compact support (Paley–Wiener theorem) and also of a function that vanishes on some interval (Boas problem) under this class of transforms. The characterizations are obtained with no restriction on q(x) other than being locally integrable.  相似文献

We considered the inverse problem of scattering theory for a boundary value problem on the half line generated by Klein–Gordon differential equation with a nonlinear spectral parameter‐dependent boundary condition. We defined the scattering data, and we proved the continuity of the scattering function S(λ); in a special case, the relation for the difference of the logarithm of the scattering function, which is called the Levinson‐type formula, was obtained. An embedding criterion for interpolation spaces is formulated and applied to the study of the Riesz basis property in the L 2,g space of eigenfunctions of an indefinite Sturm–Liouville problem u=gu on the interval (-1,1) with the Dirichlet boundary conditions, provided that the function g(x) changes sign at the origin. In particular, the basis property criterion is established for an odd g(x). Some connections with stability in interpolation scales are discussed.  相似文献

We consider the scattering of an electromagnetic time‐harmonic plane wave by an infinite cylinder having a mixed open crack (or arc) in R2 as the cross section. The crack is made up of two parts, and one of the two parts is (possibly) coated by a material with surface impedance λ. We transform the scattering problem into a system of boundary integral equations by adopting a potential approach, and establish the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution to the system by the Fredholm theory. We consider the inverse scattering problem of determining the shape of a partially coated obstacle D. To this end, we solve a scattering problem for the Helmholtz equation where the scattered field satisfies mixed Dirichlet–Neumann-impedance boundary conditions on the Lipschitz boundary of the scatterer D. Based on the analysis of the boundary integral system to the direct scattering problem, we propose how to reconstruct the shape of the obstacle D by using the linear sampling method.  相似文献

The boundary problem is considered which occurs in the theory of small transversal vibrations of a smooth inhomogeneous string. The ends of the string assumed to be fixed and the midpoint of the string is damped by a pointwise force. The problem is reduced to a spectral problem for a nonmonic quadratic operator pencil. The spectrum of the pencil (i. e. the set of normal eigenvalues) can be presented as a union of two subsequences. One of the subsequences approaches the real axis. Under an additional condition the second branch approaches a horizontal line located in the upper half–plane. The basis properties of the sets of projections (onto the corresponding subintervals) of eigenfunctions corresponding to each of the subsequences are investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the nonexistence result for the weighted Lane–Emden equation: (0.1) and the weighted Lane–Emden equation with nonlinear Neumann boundary condition: (0.2) where f(|x|) and g(|x|) are the radial and continuously differential functions, is an upper half space in , and . Using the method of energy estimation and the Pohozaev identity of solution, we prove the nonexistence of the nontrivial solutions to problems 0.1 and 0.2 under appropriate assumptions on f(|x|) and g(|x|). In this paper, we consider the inverse spectral problem for the impulsive Sturm–Liouville differential pencils on [0, π] with the Robin boundary conditions and the jump conditions at the point . We prove that two potentials functions on the whole interval and the parameters in the boundary and jump conditions can be determined from a set of eigenvalues for two cases: (i) the potentials given on and (ii) the potentials given on , where 0 < α < 1 , respectively. The uniqueness of solutions to two inverse Sturm–Liouville problems using three spectra is proven, based on the uniqueness of the solution-pair to an overdetermined Goursat–Cauchy boundary value problem. We discuss the uniqueness of the potential for a Dirichlet boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, and for a Robin boundary condition at an arbitrary interior node, whereas at the exterior nodes we have Dirichlet boundary conditions in both situations. Here we are particularly concerned with potential functions that are L2(0,a).  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for the following Sturm–Liouville‐like four‐point singular boundary value problem (BVP) with p‐Laplacian where ?p(s)=|s|p?2 s, p>1, f is a lower semi‐continuous function. Using the fixed‐point theorem of cone expansion and compression of norm type, the existence of positive solution and infinitely many positive solutions for Sturm–Liouville‐like singular BVP with p‐Laplacian are obtained. In this paper, we study a Sturm–Liouville operator with eigenparameter‐dependent boundary conditions and transmission conditions at two interior points. By establishing a new operator A associated with the problem, we prove that the operator A is self‐adjoint in an appropriate space H, discuss completeness of its eigenfunctions in H, and obtain its Green function. We consider the Aharonov–Bohm effect for the Schrödinger operator H = (?i? x  ? A(x))2 + V(x) and the related inverse problem in an exterior domain Ω in R 2 with Dirichlet boundary condition. We study the structure and asymptotics of generalized eigenfunctions and show that the scattering operator determines the domain Ω and H up to gauge equivalence under the equal flux condition. We also show that the flux is determined by the scattering operator if the obstacle Ω c is convex.  相似文献

The acoustic scattering operator on the real line is mapped to a Schrödinger operator under the Liouville transformation. The potentials in the image are characterized precisely in terms of their scattering data, and the inverse transfor- mation is obtained as a simple, linear quadrature. An existence theorem for the associated Harry Dym flows is proved, using the scattering method. The scattering problem associated with the Camassa–Holm flows on the real line is solved explicitly for a special case, which is used to reduce a general class of such problems to scattering problems on finite intervals.  相似文献

Dissipative singular Sturm–Liouville operators are studied in the Hilbert space Lw2[a,b) (–<a<b), that the extensions of a minimal symmetric operator in Weyls limit-point case. We construct a selfadjoint dilation of the dissipative operator and its incoming and outgoing spectral representations, which makes it possible to determine the scattering matrix of the dilation. We also construct a functional model of the dissipative operator and define its characteristic function in terms of the Titchmarsh–Weyl function of a selfadjoint operator. Finally, in the case when the Titchmarsh–Weyl function of the selfadjoint operator is a meromorphic in complex plane, we prove theorems on completeness of the system of eigenfunctions and associated functions of the dissipative Sturm–Liouville operators. The inverse problem of the scattering theory for Sturm–Liouville operator on the half line with boundary condition depending quadratic on the spectral parameter is considered. Scattering data are defined, some properties of the scattering data are examined, the main equation is obtained, solvability of the integral equation is proved and uniqueness of algorithm to the potential with given scattering data is studied.
