Summary Consider a stationary process {X n(), – < n < . If the measure of the process is finite (the measure of the whole sample space finite), it is well known that ergodicity of the process {X n(), - < n < and of each of the subprocesses {X n(), 0 n < , {X n(), – < n 0 are equivalent (see [3]). We shall show that this is generally not true for stationary processes with a sigma-finite measure, specifically for stationary irreducible transient Markov chains. An example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain {X n(), - < n <} with {itXn(), 0 n < < ergodic but {X n(), < n 0 nonergodic is given. That this can be the case has already been implicitly indicated in the literature [4]. Another example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain with both {X n(), 0 n < and {itX n(),-< < n 0} ergodic but {X n(), - < n < nonergodic is presented. In fact, it is shown that all stationary irreducible transient Markov chains {X n(), - < n < < are nonergodic.This research was supported in part by the Office of Naval Research.John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellow.  相似文献

Aanderaa/H.R.Lewis: Prefix classes of Krom formulas). Ebendort wird auch die Reduktionstypeneigenschaft für ((0, ), (0, 0, )) und ((0, )), (0, 0, )) nachgewiesen, während ((0, ), (, )) sich als entscheidbar herausgestellt hat (s. E. Börger: Eine entscheidbare Klasse von Kromformeln. ZMLG 19 (1973), 117–120.) Der Kromsche Reduktionstyp konnte mittlerweile einerseits zu ((0, ), (0, 4)) verschärft werden (s. D. Rödding, E. Börger: The undecidability of (0, 4)-formulae with binary disjunctions, vorgetragen auf dem Logic Coll. Bristol 1973, ein abstract erscheint im JSL), andererseits kündigt H.R.Lewis die Reduktionstypeneigenschaft für ((0, ), (0, 1)) an (s. H.R.Lewis: Krom formulas with one dyadic predicate letter. In this paper, by exploiting recent results on the pathwise behavior of the workload process in single server, work conserving queues of theG/G/1/ type, we show that the workload of multiserver, work conserving queues ofG/G/m/ (m<) (andG/G/) queues satisfies an o(t) growth condition, provided that the time average of the work brought into the system is less thanm form < (and finite form=).  相似文献

Summary A random timeT is a future independent time for a Markov chain (X n ) 0 ifT is independent of (X T+n ) n / =0 and if (X T+n ) n / =0 is a Markov chain with initial distribution and the same transition probabilities as (X n ) 0 . Summary We propose a new way to describe, universally, thel-adic Galois representations associated to each almost pro-l tower of etale coverings ofP 1\{0, 1, }. This generalizes our universal power series for Jacobi sums (cf. [I]) which arises from the tower of Fermat curves of degreel n (n), and contains the case of the tower of modular curves of level 2ml n (m: fixed,n) as another important special case. The paper is devoted to the study of completeness problem of systems { n (x)} n=0 inL p (a, b), where –a<b+,(x) is a weight function subject to mild assumptions, and(x) is a continuous function on (a,b), either bounded or unbounded in the neighbourhood of the end-points of (a,b). It turns out that this problem is connected with that of quasianalyticity of certain additive set of functions at a given point. As the most important application of the general results, the completeness problem is treated for systems of orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of D -differential and use this notion for studying the structure of differential A -algebra on multiplicative spectral sequences. We review basic notions, constructions, and results of our previous papers, where the homotopy invariance of D -differentials was proved, D -differentials and differential perturbations of chain complexes were compared, and the connection between D -differentials and differentials of multiplicative spectral sequences was established. As a consequence of this connection, we describe a method of construction of the structure of A -coalgebra on the Milnor coalgebra dual to the Steenrod algebra immediately by the differentials of the Adams spectral sequence. We describe the method of construction of the structure of A -comodule over a Milnor A -coalgebra on homologies of an arbitrary spectrum.  相似文献

The Navier-Stokes equations for compressible barotropic fluid in 1D with the mass force under zero velocity boundary conditions are studied. We prove the uniform upper and lower bounds for the density as well as the uniform in time L 2()-estimates for x and u x (u is the velocity). Moreover, a collection of the decay rate estimates for - (with being the stationary density) and u in 2()-norm and H 1()-norm as time t are established. The results are given for general state function p() (but mainly monotone) and viscosity coefficient µ() of arbitrarily fast (or slow) growth as well as for the large data.  相似文献
