Estimates for Integral Means of Hyperbolically Convex Functions

We prove the Mejia-Pommerenke conjecture that the Taylor coefficients of hyperbolically convex functions in the disk behave like O(log^?2(n)/n) as n → ∞ assuming that the image of the unit disk under such functions is a domain of bounded boundary rotation. Moreover, we obtain some asymptotically sharp estimates for the integral means of the derivatives of such functions and consider an example of a hyperbolically convex function that maps the unit disk onto a domain of infinite boundary rotation.

On the univalence of derivatives of functions which are univalent in angular domains

We consider functions f that are univalent in a plane angular domain of angle απ, 0 < α ≤ 2. It is proved that there exists a natural number k depending only on α such that the kth derivatives f ^(k) of these functions cannot be univalent in this angle. We find the least of the possible values of for k. As a consequence, we obtain an answer to the question posed by Kir’yatskii: if f is univalent in the half-plane, then its fourth derivative cannot be univalent in this half-plane.     

The Starlikeness of Analytic Functions of Koebe Type with Complex Order

For α 0, λ 0 and β,η∈R, we consider the M(α,λ)_b of normalized analyticα—λ convex functions defined in the open unit disc U. In this paper we investigate the class M(α, λ,β,η)_b,with f_b := z/(1-z~n)~b being Koebe type. By making use of Jack's Lemma as well as several differential and other inequalities, the authors derive sufficient conditions for starlikeness of the class M(α, λ, β, η)_b of n-fold symmetric analytic functions of Koebe type. Relevant connections of the results presented here with those given in earlier works are also indicated.

On a variational method for univalent functions

In the paper, the construction of a variational method for univalent functions is suggested; this construction uses the factorization theorem. As a consequence, an analog of the Goluzin variational formula is obtained.     

Koch曲线所围区域内的一类解析函数边值问题

在经典解析函数边值理论中,当L为复平面上逐段光滑封闭曲线时,在L所围的内部和外部,Cauchy型积分解析;通过对Cauchy主值积分的讨论,可得Cauchy型积分在L上的左、右边值,且边值满足Plemelj公式.基于Koch曲线的构造方法,对一系列Cauchy型积分取极限,并附加上一定的Hlder条件,可得在Koch曲线所围的内部和外部区域内都解析的Cauchy型积分函数,进一步得到与经典解析函数边值问题类似的结果.

We consider the question about the possibility of conversion of the L'Hopital rule for the limits of ratios of analytic functions at a boundary point of the analyticity domain in a Stolz angle.

On the Generalized Ray-Singer Conjecture for Covering Spaces

We find a relation between L² -combinatorial torsion and analytic torsion associated with a small spectrum of the Witten-type Laplacian on a covering space. The result is used as one crucial step in a proof of the generalized Ray-Singer conjecture for covering spaces.

We give a new proof of a theorem of P. Mihailescu which states that the equation x ^p – y ^q = 1 is unsolvable with x, y integral and p, q odd primes, unless the congruences p ^q p (mod q ²) and q ^p q (mod p ²) hold.     

A Distortion Theorem for Univalent Gap Series

We prove a distortion theorem for conformal mappings of the unit disk for which log f is representable as the Hadamard gap series. This theorem implies in particular that such conformal mapping is almost bounded, i.e., for every >0, there is a positive constant C such that |f,(z)|C (1–|z|) ^–.     

Univalent Functions in Two-Dimensional Free Boundary Problems

The main goal of the paper is to bring together methods of the classical theory of univalent functions and some problems of fluid mechanics. Our interest centers on free boundary problems. We study the time evolution of the free boundary of a viscous fluid in the zero- and nonzero-surface-tension models for planar flows in Hele-Shaw cells either with an extending to infinity free boundary or with a bounded free boundary. We consider special classes of univalent functions that admit an explicit geometric interpretation to characterize the shape of the free interface. Another model is two-dimensional solidification/melting of a nucleus in a forced flow.
