Comment on “Foam imbibition in microgravity. An experimental study” by H. Caps,H. Decauwer,M.-L. Chevalier,G. Soyez,M. Ausloos and N. Vandewalle

In a recent paper, [1] described parabolic flight experiments showing the movement of liquid into the foam during the microgravity phase. In this comment, we present a detailed theory of this process, supported by numerical calculations, confirming their conclusion that the wetting front moves with the square root of time. 20 0 2年 2月 2 1日 ,美国普林斯顿等离子物理实验室 (ＰＰＰＬ)公告 :美国核聚变事业的巨星 ,ＴＦＴＲ项目 (环形聚变实验反应堆 )的开创人 ,ＰＰＰＬ的前所长Ｆｕｒｔｈ教授 ,因病逝世 .这是国际核聚变界的重大损失 .中国核聚变界也失去了一个亲切的良师益友 .2 4年前 (1978年 ) ,在“文革”封闭多年后 ,我参加了中国核物理和核聚变代表团访美 ,第一次认识了Ｆｕｒｔｈ教授 .2 0世纪 70年代是世界核聚变研究的关键年代 ,而ＰＰＰＬ是国际科技界注意的焦点 ,当然也是我们代表团考察的主要目标 .背景是 :世界各国在核聚变投入巨资 ,但几十年…     

P.W.J.M鲍曼斯逝世

著名光谱化学专家P.w.J.M鲍曼斯于2008年10月26 日逝世,享年76岁. 鲍曼斯1932年生予荷兰,于阿姆斯特丹大学化学物理系毕业.1961年获博士学位.1961～1968年间在阿姆斯特丹大学任教,从事原子光谱分析,发射光谱光源激发机理的研究.1966年出版专集:"Theory of Spectrochemical Excitation"1968年他进入Eindhoven的Philips研究实验室,曾任该实验室主任研究员     

Comment on ‘Cr LVV Auger emission and photoreduction of hexavalent Cr oxides by A.G. Schrott,G.S. Frankel,A.J. Davenport,H.S. Isaacs,C.V. Jahnes and M.A. Russak’

A paper by Schrott et al. [Surf. Sci. 250 (1991) 139] on the Auger Cr LVV spectra of Al/Cr alloys is commented on.The area of major disagreement regards the hypothesis that Al-alloying suppresses the Cr LVV decay. It is pointed out that the surface chemical composition of the alloys should be considered in detail, and that instrumental factors and the presence of surface contamination would account for the negligible Cr LVV intensity.
