Anion–π interactions generally exist between an anion and an electron‐deficient π‐ring because of the electron‐accepting character of the ring. In this paper, we report orbital effect‐induced anomalous binding between electron‐rich π systems and F? through anion–π interactions calculated at the MP2/6‐31+G(d,p) and ωB97X‐D/6‐31+G(d,p) levels of theory. We find that anion–π interactions between F? and electron‐rich π rings increase markedly with increasing number of π electrons and size of the π rings. This is contrary to intuition because anion–π interactions would be expected to gradually decrease because of gradually increasing Coulombic repulsion between the negative charge of the anions and gradually increasing number of π electrons of the aromatic surfaces. Energy decomposition analysis showed that the key to this anomalous effect is the more effective delocalization of negative charge to the unoccupied π* orbitals of larger π rings, which is termed an “orbital effect”. 相似文献

Several bis(triazolium)‐based receptors have been synthesized as chemosensors for anion recognition. The central naphthalene core features two aryltriazolium side‐arms. NMR experiments revealed differences between the binding modes of the two triazolium rings: one triazolium ring acts as a hydrogen‐bond donor, the other as an anion–π receptor. Receptors 92+?2BF4 ? (C6H5), 112+?2BF4 ? (4‐NO2?C6H4), and 132+?2BF4? (ferrocenyl) bind HP2O73? anions in a mixed‐binding mode that features a combination of hydrogen‐bonding and anion–π interactions and results in strong binding. On the other hand, receptor 102+?2 BF4 ? (4‐CH3O?C6H4) only displays combined Csp2?H/anion–π interactions between the two arms of the receptors and the bound anion rather than triazolium (CH)+???anion hydrogen bonding. All receptors undergo a downfield shift of the triazolium protons, as well as the inner naphthalene protons, in the presence of H2PO4? anions. That suggests that only hydrogen‐bonding interactions exist between the binding site and the bound anion, and involve a combination of cationic (triazolium) and neutral (naphthalene) C?H donor interactions. Theoretical calculations relate the electronic structure of the substituent on the aromatic group with the interaction energies and provide a minimum‐energy conformation for all the complexes that explains their measured properties. 相似文献

The Origin of the Room‐Temperature Stability of [TTF].+⋅⋅⋅[TTF].+ Long,Multicenter Bonds Found in Functionalized π‐[R‐TTF]22+ Dimers Included in the Cucurbit[8]uril Cavity 下载免费PDF全文

A computational study is performed to identify the origin of the room‐temperature stability, in aqueous solution, of functionalized π‐[R‐TTF]22+ dimers (TTF=tetrathiafulvalene; R=(CH2OCH2)5CH2OH) included in the cavity of a cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8]) molecule. π‐[R‐TTF]22+ dimers in pure water are weakly stable, and are mostly dissociated at room temperature. Upon addition of CB[8] to an aqueous π‐[R‐TTF]22+ solution, a (π‐[R‐TTF]2?CB[8])2+ inclusion complex is formed. The same complex is obtained after the sequential inclusion of two [R‐TTF].+ monomers in the CB[8] molecule. Both processes are thermodynamically and kinetically allowed. π‐[R‐TTF]22+ dimers dissolved in pure water present a [TTF].+???[TTF].+ long, multicenter bond, similar to that already identified in π‐[TTF]22+ dimers dissolved in organic solvents. Upon their inclusion in CB[8], the strength and other features of the [TTF].+???[TTF].+ long, multicenter bond are preserved. The room temperature stability of the π‐[R‐TTF]22+ dimers included in CB[8] is shown to originate in the π‐[R‐TTF]22+???CB[8] interaction, the strength of which comes from a strongly attractive electrostatic component and a dispersion component. Such a dominant electrostatic term is caused by the strongly polarized charge distribution in CB[8], the geometrical complementarity of the π‐[R‐TTF]22+ and CB[8] geometries, and the amplifying effect of the 2+ charge in π‐[R‐TTF]22+. 相似文献

The host–guest interaction between poly aromatic hydrocarbon/azine and the newly synthesized ExBox4+ complex is studied with the help of density functional theory. The solvent‐phase interaction energy is found to decrease with gradual substitution of methine groups (?CH?) from the six‐membered ring of guest molecules with N atoms in the resultant azine@ExBox4+ complex. The nature of the binding interaction is studied with the help of newly developed noncovalent interaction (NCI) plot program package along with energy decomposition analysis and charge decomposition analysis. The interactions are mostly π‐type van der Waals interactions. 相似文献

This article analyzes the interplay between lone pair–π (lp–π) or anion–π interactions and halogen‐bonding interactions. Interesting cooperativity effects are observed when lp/anion–π and halogen‐bonding interactions coexist in the same complex, and they are found even in systems in which the distance between the anion and halogen‐bond donor molecule is longer than 9 Å. These effects are studied theoretically in terms of energetic and geometric features of the complexes, which are computed by ab initio methods. Bader′s theory of “atoms in molecules” is used to characterize the interactions and to analyze their strengthening or weakening depending upon the variation of charge density at critical points. The physical nature of the interactions and cooperativity effects are studied by means of molecular interaction potential with polarization partition scheme. By taking advantage of all aforementioned computational methods, the present study examines how these interactions mutually influence each other. Additionally, experimental evidence for such interactions is obtained from the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). 相似文献

Host–guest interactions between polyglycerol dendrimers of generations 3 and 4 (PGD‐G3 and G4) and 4‐amino‐3‐hydroxynapthalene‐2‐sulphonic acid (AHSA) were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). PGD‐G3 molecules were found to form an associated state with an average diameter of 82.7 nm in aqueous solution, in which PGD‐G3 provided a much more polar microenvironment than glycerol. PGD‐G3 and AHSA interacted attractively, showing a binding constant of 5.3×105 M ?1 with a 2:1 stoichiometry. On the other hand, AHSA interacted with the periphery of PGD‐G4, the majority of which existed as a unimer, forming a less polar microenvironment. The driving force of the interactions for PGD‐G3 and ‐G4 were mainly enthalpically and entropically driven, respectively. The generation‐dependent host–guest interactions were described in conjunction with thermodynamic parameters. 相似文献

Low‐temperature (200 K) protonation of [Mo(CO)(Cp*)H(PMe3)2] ( 1 ) by Et2O ? HBF4 gives a different result depending on a subtle solvent change: The dihydrogen complex [Mo(CO)(Cp*)(η2‐H2)(PMe3)2]+ ( 2 ) is obtained in THF, whereas the tautomeric classical dihydride [Mo(CO)(Cp*)(H)2(PMe3)2]+ ( 3 ) is the only observable product in dichloromethane. Both products were fully characterised (νCO IR; 1H, 31P, 13C NMR spectroscopies) at low temperature; they lose H2 upon warming to 230 K at approximately the same rate (ca. 10?3 s?1), with no detection of the non‐classical form in CD2Cl2, to generate [Mo(CO)(Cp*)(FBF3)(PMe3)2] ( 4 ). The latter also slowly decomposes at ambient temperature. One of the decomposition products was crystallised and identified by X‐ray crystallography as [Mo(CO)(Cp*)(FH???FBF3)(PMe3)2] ( 5 ), which features a neutral HF ligand coordinated to the transition metal through the F atom and to the BF4? anion through a hydrogen bond. The reason for the switch in relative stability between 2 and 3 was probed by DFT calculations based on the B3LYP and M05‐2X functionals, with inclusion of anion and solvent effects by the conductor‐like polarisable continuum model and by explicit consideration of the solvent molecules. Calculations at the MP4(SDQ) and CCSD(T) levels were also carried out for calibration. The calculations reveal the key role of non‐covalent anion–solvent interactions, which modulate the anion–cation interaction ultimately altering the energetic balance between the two isomeric forms. 相似文献

Combination of an electron‐rich molecule (e.g. chloride anion or nitrile group) with a chlorinated cyclohexasilane ring produces a supramolecular inverse sandwich complex formed by two guests (Cl? or R?C≡N) strongly bonded to both faces of a planar host (Si6 ring). In‐depth theoretical studies were carried out to investigate the nature of the bonding interactions that generate such a stable complex. Second‐order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) calculations confirmed that the presence of the Cl substituents is fundamental to the stability of the supramolecular assemblies. The density functional theory (DFT) functional wB97XD gave an estimation of the contribution of dispersion interactions to the binding energy. These interactions become more important as the Cl atoms of the rings are systematically replaced by methyl groups or hydrogen atoms. Analysis of the topology of the electron density and the reduced density gradient gave insight into the binding of the studied supramolecular assemblies. 相似文献

Mixed‐valence polyoxovanadates(IV/V) have emerged as one of the most intricate class of supramolecular all‐inorganic host species, able to encapsulate a wide variety of smaller guest templates during their self‐assembly formation process. As showcased herein, the incorporation of guests, though governed solely by ultra‐weak electrostatic and van der Waals interactions, can cause drastic effects on the electronic and magnetic characteristics of the shell complex of the polyoxovanadate. We address the question of methodology for the magnetochemical analysis of virtually isostructural {VIV/V22O54}‐type polyoxoanions of D2d symmetry enclosing diamagnetic VO2F2? (C2v), SCN? (C∞v), or ClO4? (Td) template anions. These induce different polarization effects related to differences in their geometric structures, symmetry, ion radii, and valence shells, eventually resulting in a supramolecular modulation of magnetic exchange between the V(3d) electrons that are partly delocalized over the {V22O54} shells. We also include the synthesis and characterization of the novel [VVO2F2@HVIV8VV14O54]6? system that comprises the rarely encountered discrete difluorovanadate anion as a quasi‐isolated guest species. 相似文献

Herein a combined NOE NMR/DFT methodology to discriminate between adducts held together by halogen bonding (XB) and other noncovalent interactions (non‐XB, such as lone pair/π), based on the determination of the XB donors′ and acceptors′ relative orientation, is proposed. In particular, 19F,1H HOESY NMR spectroscopy experiments and DFT calculations on different XB donors, such as perfluorohexyl iodide ( I1 ), iodopentafluorobenzene ( I2 ) and bromopentafluorobenzene ( Br ), combined with different Lewis bases, such as 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane ( DABCO ) and 2,4,6‐trimethylpyridine ( Me3Py ), were performed. The results clearly show that in the case DABCO / I1 the XB adduct is practically the only one present in solution, whereas for the other pairs a certain amount of non‐XB adduct is present. Combining DFT and HOESY results, the amount of non‐XB adducts can be roughly quantified under our experimental conditions as 4 % for DABCO / I2 , between 10 and 20 % for Me3Py / I1 and Me3Py / I2 , and 44 % for DABCO / Br. 相似文献

A systematic study on the anion‐binding properties of acyclic halogen‐ and hydrogen‐bonding bis‐triazolium carbazole receptors is described. The halide‐binding potency of halogen‐bonding bis‐iodotriazolium carbazole receptors was found to be far superior to their hydrogen‐bonding bis‐triazolium‐based analogues. This led to the synthesis of a mixed halogen‐ and hydrogen‐bonding rotaxane host containing a bis‐iodotriazolium carbazole axle component. The rotaxane’s anion recognition properties, determined by 1H NMR titration experiments in a competitive aqueous solvent mixture, demonstrated the preorganised halogen‐bonding interlocked host cavity to be halide‐selective, with a strong binding affinity for bromide. 相似文献

1,3‐Bis(pentafluorophenyl‐imino)isoindoline (AF) and 3,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐1,8‐bis(pentafluorophenyl)‐9H‐carbazole (BF) have been designed as preorganized anion receptors that exploit anion–π interactions, and their ability to bind chloride and bromide in various solvents has been evaluated. Both receptors AF and BF are neutral but provide a central NH hydrogen bond that directs the halide anion into a preorganized clamp of the two electron‐deficient appended arenes. Crystal structures of host–guest complexes of AF with DMSO, Cl?, or Br? (AF:DMSO, AF:Cl?, and ${{\rm A}{{{\rm F}\hfill \atop 2\hfill}}}$ :Br?) reveal that in all cases the guest is located in the cleft between the perfluorinated flaps, but NMR spectroscopy shows a more complex situation in solution because of E,Z/Z,Z isomerism of the host. In the case of the more rigid receptor BF, Job plots evidence 1:1 complex formation with Cl? and Br?, and association constants up to 960 M ?1 have been determined depending on the solvent. Crystal structures of BF and BF:DMSO visualize the distinct preorganization of the host for anion–π interactions. The reference compounds 1,3‐bis(2‐pyrimidylimino)isoindoline (AN) and 3,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐1,8‐diphenyl‐9H‐carbazole (BH), which lack the perfluorinated flaps, do not show any indication of anion binding under the same conditions. A detailed computational analysis of the receptors AF and BF and their host–guest complexes with Cl? or Br? was carried out to quantify the interactions in play. Local correlation methods were applied, allowing for a decomposition of the ring–anion interactions. The latter were found to contribute significantly to the stabilization of these complexes (about half of the total energy). Compounds AF and BF represent rare examples of neutral receptors that are well preorganized for exploiting anion–π interactions, and rare examples of receptors for which the individual contributions to the binding energy have been quantified. 相似文献

Halogen bonding is a noncovalent interaction between a halogen atom and a nucleophilic site. Interactions involving the π electrons of aromatic rings have received, up to now, little attention, despite the large number of systems in which they are present. We report binding energies of the interaction between either NCX or PhX (X=F, Cl, Br, I) and the aromatic benzene system as determined with the coupled cluster with perturbative triple excitations method [CCSD(T)] extrapolated at the complete basis set limit. Results are compared with those obtained by Møller–Plesset perturbation theory to second order (MP2) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations by using some of the most common functionals. Results show the important role of DFT in studying this interaction. 相似文献

The synthesis of an all‐halogen‐bonding rotaxane for anion recognition is achieved by using active‐metal templation. A flexible bis‐iodotriazole‐containing macrocycle is exploited for the metal‐directed rotaxane synthesis. Endotopic binding of a CuI template facilitates an active‐metal CuAAC iodotriazole axle formation reaction that captures the interlocked rotaxane product. Following copper‐template removal, exotopic coordination of a more sterically demanding rhenium(I) complex induces an inversion in the conformation of the macrocycle component, directing the iodotriazole halogen‐bond donors into the rotaxane’s interlocked binding cavity to facilitate anion recognition. 相似文献

The properties of tetrathiafulvalene dimers ([TTF]22+) and the functionalized ring‐shaped bispropargyl (BPP)‐functionalized TTF dimers, [BPP–TTF]22+, found at room temperature in charged [3]catenanes, were evaluated by M06L calculations. The results showed that their isolated [TTF]22+ and [BPP–TTF]22+ dimers are energetically unstable towards dissociation. When enclosed in the 4+‐charged central cyclophane ring of charged [3]catenanes (CBPQT4+), [TTF]22+ and [BPP–TTF]22+ dimers are also energetically unstable with respect to leaving the CBPQT4+ ring; since the barrier for the exiting process is only about 3 kcal mol?1, that is, within the reach of thermal energies at room temperature (neutral [TTF]20 dimers are stable within the CBPQT4+ ring). However, the [BPP–TTF]22+ dimers in charged [3]catenanes cannot exit, because this would imply breaking the covalent bonds of the BPP–TTF+ macrocycle. Finally, it was shown that the [TTF]22+, [BPP–TTF]22+ dimers, and charged [3]catenanes are energetically stable in solution and in crystals of their salts, in the first case due to the interactions with the solvent, and in the second case mostly due to cation–anion interactions. In these environmental conditions at room temperature the TTF units of the [BPP–TTF]22+ dimers make short contacts, thus allowing their SOMO orbitals to overlap: a room‐temperature multicenter long bond is formed, similar to those previously found in other [TTF]22+ salts and their solutions. 相似文献

Nanosupramolecular assemblies with controlled topological features have inventive applications in fundamental studies and material manufacturing. Herein, a variety of morphologically interesting aggregates have been constructed using the supramolecular modulation with bipyridinium‐modified diphenylalanine derivative (BP‐FF). Benefiting from the high binding affinity of bipyridinium group with four different macrocyclic receptors, namely cucurbit[7]uril, cucurbit[8]uril, pillar[5]arene, and tetrasulfonated crown ether, we have succeeded in tuning the topological aggregates of BP‐FF from fine nanofibers to nanorods, octahedron‐like nanostructure, helical nanowires, and rectangular nanosheets without any tedious chemical modification. This supramolecular approach may provide us a powerful method to construct well‐defined nanostructures with different morphologies that can be conveniently controlled by facile host–guest interactions. 相似文献

Upon complexation with PdII ions, precisely designed strandlike ligands with two tris(3,5‐pyridine) units at both terminals were assembled, with the aid of a linear template molecule, into a discrete tubular complex with a length of 3.5 nm. The high stability and the well‐defined structure of the coordination nanotube were revealed by NMR spectroscopy, cold‐spray ionization MS, and single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. Guest lengths were discriminated by the tube: When the association of strandlike guest molecules, in which two biphenylene units are linked with an (OCH2CH2)n linker, were compared, the tube selectively recognized an appropriate guest whose length was comparable to that of the tube. Tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)‐terminated linear guests were directly oxidized to TTF2+ in the tube, but reduced stepwise via TTF+? outside the tube. 相似文献
