Order-compactifications of totally ordered spaces were described by Blatter (J Approx Theory 13:56–65, 1975) and by Kent and Richmond (J Math Math Sci 11(4):683–694, 1988). Their results generalize a similar characterization of order-compactifications of linearly ordered spaces, obtained independently by Fedorčuk (Soviet Math Dokl 7:1011–1014, 1966; Sib Math J 10:124–132, 1969) and Kaufman (Colloq Math 17:35–39, 1967). In this note we give a simple characterization of the topology of a totally ordered space, as well as give a new simplified proof of the main results of Blatter (J Approx Theory 13:56–65, 1975) and Kent and Richmond (J Math Math Sci 11(4):683–694, 1988). Our main tool will be an order-topological modification of the Dedekind-MacNeille completion. In addition, for a zero-dimensional totally ordered space X, we determine which order-compactifications of X are Priestley order-compactifications.  相似文献

Multicriteria games describe strategic interactions in which players, having more than one criterion to take into account, don’t have an a-priori opinion on the relative importance of all these criteria. Roemer (Econ. Bull. 3:1–13, 2005) introduces an organizational interpretation of the concept of equilibrium: each player can be viewed as running a bargaining game among criteria. In this paper, we analyze the bargaining problem within each player by considering the Kalai-Smorodinsky bargaining solution (see Kalai and Smorodinsky in Econometrica 43:513–518, 1975). We provide existence results for the so called Kalai-Smorodinsky bargaining solution equilibria for a general class of disagreement points which properly includes the one considered by Roemer (Econ. Bull. 3:1–13, 2005). Moreover we look at the refinement power of this equilibrium concept and show that it is an effective selection device even when combined with classical refinement concepts based on stability with respect to perturbations; in particular, we consider the extension to multicriteria games of the Selten’s trembling hand perfect equilibrium concept (see Selten in Int. J. Game Theory 4:25–55, 1975) and prove that perfect Kalai-Smorodinsky bargaining solution equilibria exist and properly refine both the perfect equilibria and the Kalai-Smorodinsky bargaining solution equilibria.  相似文献

This paper extends the theory of corporate international investment in Choi (J. Int. Bus. Stud. 20: 145–155, 1989) in an environment where the segmentation of international capital markets for investors or the presence of agency costs provide some independence to corporate decisions. The model shows that the real exchange risk, the competition between firms in different markets and diversification gains affect corporate international investment. By accounting for the role of information as defined in the models of Merton (J. Finance 42: 483–510, 1987), Bellalah (Int. J. Finance Econ. 6: 59–67, 2001a) and Bellalah and Wu (Int. J. Theor. Appl. Finance 5(5): 479–495, 2002), the model embodies different existing explanations based on economic and behavioral variables. We show in a “two-country” firm model that real exchange risk, diversification motives and information costs are important elements in the determination of corporate international investment decisions. The dynamic portfolio model reflects the main results in several theories of foreign direct investment. Our model accounts for the role of information in explaining foreign investments. It provides simple explanations which are useful in explaining the home bias puzzle in international finance. Using the dynamical programming principle method, we provide the general solution for the proportion of firm’s total capital budget. We also use a new method to get explicit solutions in some special cases. This new method can be applied to solve other financial control problems. The simulating results are given to show our conclusion and the influence of some parameters to the optimal solution. The economic results can be seen as a generalization of the model in Solnik (J. Econ. Theory 8: 500–524, 1974).  相似文献

We provide a semilocal convergence analysis for a certain class of secant-like methods considered also in Argyros (J Math Anal Appl 298:374–397, 2004, 2007), Potra (Libertas Mathematica 5:71–84, 1985), in order to approximate a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space. Using a combination of Lipschitz and center-Lipschitz conditions for the computation of the upper bounds on the inverses of the linear operators involved, instead of only Lipschitz conditions (Potra, Libertas Mathematica 5:71–84, 1985), we provide an analysis with the following advantages over the work in Potra (Libertas Mathematica 5:71–84, 1985) which improved the works in Bosarge and Falb (J Optim Theory Appl 4:156–166, 1969, Numer Math 14:264–286, 1970), Dennis (SIAM J Numer Anal 6(3):493–507, 1969, 1971), Kornstaedt (1975), Larsonen (Ann Acad Sci Fenn, A 450:1–10, 1969), Potra (L’Analyse Numérique et la Théorie de l’Approximation 8(2):203–214, 1979, Aplikace Mathematiky 26:111–120, 1981, 1982, Libertas Mathematica 5:71–84, 1985), Potra and Pták (Math Scand 46:236–250, 1980, Numer Func Anal Optim 2(1):107–120, 1980), Schmidt (Period Math Hung 9(3):241–247, 1978), Schmidt and Schwetlick (Computing 3:215–226, 1968), Traub (1964), Wolfe (Numer Math 31:153–174, 1978): larger convergence domain; weaker sufficient convergence conditions, finer error bounds on the distances involved, and a more precise information on the location of the solution. In this paper, the compound Poisson risk model with surplus-dependent premium rate is analyzed in the taxation system proposed by Albrecher and Hipp (Bl?tter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007). In the compound Poisson risk model, Albrecher and Hipp (Bl?tter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007) showed that a simple relationship between the ruin probabilities in the risk model with and without tax exists. This so-called tax identity was later generalized to a surplus-dependent tax rate by Albrecher et al. (Insur Math Econ 44(2):304–306, 2009). The present paper further generalizes these results to the Gerber–Shiu function with a generalized penalty function involving the maximum surplus prior to ruin. We show that this generalized Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model with tax is closely related to the ‘original’ Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model without tax defined in a dividend barrier framework. The moments of the discounted tax payments before ruin and the optimal threshold level for the tax authority to start collecting tax payments are also examined.  相似文献

In this note we adopt the approach in Bonnit et al. (Czechoslov. Math. J. 60(2):527–539, 2010) to give a direct proof of some recent results in Haak and Le Merdy (Houst. J. Math., 2005) and Haak and Kunstmann (SIAM J. Control Optim. 45:2094–2118, 2007) which characterizes the L p -admissibility of type α depending on p of unbounded observation operators for bounded analytic semigroups.  相似文献

In this paper we develop a method of forming functions of noncommuting operators (or disentangling) using functions that are not necessarily analytic at the origin in ℂ n . The method of disentangling follows Feynman’s heuristic rules from in (Feynman in Phys. Rev. 84:18–128, 1951) a mathematically rigorous fashion, generalizing the work of Jefferies and Johnson and the present author in (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001). In fact, the work in (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001) allow only functions analytic in a polydisk centered at the origin in ℂ n while the method introduced in this paper enable functions that are not analytic at the origin to be used. It is shown that the disentangling formalism introduced here reduces to that of (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001) under the appropriate assumptions. A basic commutativity theorem is also established.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a variation of the equations of a chemotaxis kinetic model and investigate it in one dimension. In fact, we use fractional diffusion for the chemoattractant in the Othmar–Dunbar–Alt system (Othmer in J Math Biol 26(3):263–298, 1988). This version was exhibited in Calvez in Amer Math Soc, pp 45–62, 2007 for the macroscopic well-known Keller–Segel model in all space dimensions. These two macroscopic and kinetic models are related as mentioned in Bournaveas, Ann Inst H Poincaré Anal Non Linéaire, 26(5):1871–1895, 2009, Chalub, Math Models Methods Appl Sci, 16(7 suppl):1173–1197, 2006, Chalub, Monatsh Math, 142(1–2):123–141, 2004, Chalub, Port Math (NS), 63(2):227–250, 2006. The model we study here behaves in a similar way to the original model in two dimensions with the spherical symmetry assumption on the initial data which is described in Bournaveas, Ann Inst H Poincaré Anal Non Linéaire, 26(5):1871–1895, 2009. We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for this model, as well as a convergence result for a family of numerical schemes. The advantage of this model is that numerical simulations can be easily done especially to track the blow-up phenomenon.  相似文献

We introduce the new idea of recurrent functions to provide a new semilocal convergence analysis for Newton-type methods, under mild differentiability conditions. The general summation theorem for well-poised 5 F 4-series discovered by Dougall (Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc. 25:114–132, 1907) is shown to imply several infinite series of Ramanujan-type for 1/π and 1/π 2, including those due to Bauer (J. Reine Angew. Math. 56:101–121, 1859) and Glaisher (Q. J. This paper is devoted to the stability analysis for a class of Minty mixed variational inequalities in reflexive Banach spaces, when both the mapping and the constraint set are perturbed. Several equivalent characterizations are given for the Minty mixed variational inequality to have nonempty and bounded solution set. A stability result is presented for the Minty mixed variational inequality with Φ-pseudomonotone mapping in reflexive Banach space, when both the mapping and the constraint set are perturbed by different parameters. As an application, a stability result for a generalized mixed variational inequality is also obtained. The results presented in this paper generalize and extend some known results in Fan and Zhong (Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 69:2566–2574, 2008) and He (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 330:352–363, 2007).  相似文献

In recent years, a rapidly growing literature has focussed on the construction of wavelet systems to analyze functions defined on the sphere. Our purpose in this paper is to generalize these constructions to situations where sections of line bundles, rather than ordinary scalar-valued functions, are considered. In particular, we propose needlet-type spin wavelets as an extension of the needlet approach recently introduced by Narcowich et al. in SIAM J. Math. Anal. 38, 574–594 (2006) and J. Funct. Anal. 238, 530–564 (2006) and then considered for more general manifolds by Geller and Mayeli in Math. Z. 262, 895–927 (2009), Math. Z. 263, 235–264 (2009), and Indiana Univ. Math. J. (2009). We discuss localization properties in the real and harmonic domains, and investigate stochastic properties for the analysis of spin random fields. Our results are strongly motivated by cosmological applications, in particular in connection to the analysis of Cosmic Microwave Background polarization data.  相似文献

In this paper, we present two new three-step iterative methods for solving nonlinear equations with sixth convergence order. The new methods are obtained by composing known methods of third order of convergence with Newton’s method and using an adequate approximation for the derivative, that provides high order of convergence and reduces the required number of functional evaluations per step. The first method is obtained from Potra-Pták’s method and the second one, from Homeier’s method, both reaching an efficiency index of 1.5651. Our methods are comparable with the method of Parhi and Gupta (Appl Math Comput 203:50–55, 2008). Methods proposed by Kou and Li (Appl Math Comput 189:1816–1821, 2007), Wang et al. (Appl Math Comput 204:14–19, 2008) and Chun (Appl Math Comput 190:1432–1437, 2007) reach the same efficiency index, although they start from a fourth order method while we use third order methods and simpler arithmetics. We prove the convergence results and check them with several numerical tests that allow us to compare the convergence order, the computational cost and the efficiency order of our methods with those of the original methods.  相似文献

We introduce an implicit iteration scheme with a perturbed mapping for finding a common element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem and the set of common fixed points of finitely many nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space. Then, we establish some convergence theorems for this implicit iteration scheme which are connected with results by Xu and Ori (Numer. Funct. Analysis Optim. 22:767–772, 2001), Zeng and Yao (Nonlinear Analysis, Theory, Methods Appl. 64:2507–2515, 2006) and Takahashi and Takahashi (J. Math. Analysis Appl. 331:506–515, 2007). In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for strong convergence of this implicit iteration scheme are obtained. Quasi-invariance of infinite product measures is studied when a locally compact second countable group acts on a standard Borel space. A characterization of l 2-quasi-invariant infinite product measures is given. The group that leaves the measure class invariant is also studied. In the case where the group acts on itself by translations, our result extends previous ones obtained by Shepp (Ann. Math. Stat. 36:1107–1112, 1965) and by Hora (Math. Z. 206:169–192, 1991; J. Theor. Probab. 5:71–100, 1992) to all connected Lie groups.   相似文献

We study additive representability of orders on multisets (of size k drawn from a set of size n) which satisfy the condition of independence of equal submultisets (IES) introduced by Sertel and Slinko (Ranking committees, words or multisets. Nota di Laboro 50.2002. Center of Operation Research and Economics. The Fundazione Eni Enrico Mattei, Milan, 2002, Econ. Theory 30(2):265–287, 2007). Here we take a geometric view of those orders, and relate them to certain combinatorial objects which we call discrete cones. Following Fishburn (J. Math. Psychol., 40:64–77, 1996) and Conder and Slinko (J. Math. Psychol., 48(6):425–431, 2004), we define functions f(n,k) and g(n,k) which measure the maximal possible deviation of an arbitrary order satisfying the IES and an arbitrary almost representable order satisfying the IES, respectively, from a representable order. We prove that g(n,k) = n − 1 whenever n ≥ 3 and (n, k) ≠ (5, 2). In the exceptional case, g(5,2) = 3. We also prove that g(n,k) ≤ f(n,k) ≤ n and establish that for small n and k the functions g(n,k) and f(n,k) coincide.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider a one-dimensional dam-river system studied by Chentouf and Wang (SIAM J. Control Optim. 47: 2275–2302, 2008). Then, using the frequency multiplier method, we provide a simple and alternative proof of stabilization and regulation results obtained in the work cited above. Moreover, we relax the conditions on the feedback gains involved in the feedback law and give a partial answer to the open problem left by the authors Chentouf and Wang (J. Optim. Theory Appl. 134: 223–239, 2007 and SIAM J. Control Optim. 47: 2275–2302, 2008) concerning the tuning of the gains.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to prove some new common fixed point theorems in (GV)-fuzzy metric spaces. While proving our results, we utilize the idea of compatibility due to Jungck (Int J Math Math Sci 9:771–779, 1986) together with subsequentially continuity due to Bouhadjera and Godet-Thobie (arXiv: 0906.3159v1 [math.FA] 17 Jun 2009) respectively (also alternately reciprocal continuity due to Pant (Bull Calcutta Math Soc 90:281–286, 1998) together with subcompatibility due to Bouhadjera and Godet-Thobie (arXiv:0906.3159v1 [math.FA] 17 Jun 2009) as patterned in Imdad et al. (doi:) wherein conditions on completeness (or closedness) of the underlying space (or subspaces) together with conditions on continuity in respect of any one of the involved maps are relaxed. Our results substantially generalize and improve a multitude of relevant common fixed point theorems of the existing literature in metric as well as fuzzy metric spaces which include some relevant results due to Imdad et al. (J Appl Math Inform 26:591–603, 2008), Mihet (doi:), Mishra (Tamkang J Math 39(4):309–316, 2008), Singh (Fuzzy Sets Syst 115:471–475, 2000) and several others.  相似文献

We introduce a new iterative method in order to approximate a locally unique solution of variational inclusions in Banach spaces. The method uses only divided differences operators of order one. An existence–convergence theorem and a radius of convergence are given under some conditions on divided difference operator and Lipschitz-like continuity property of set-valued mappings. Our method extends the recent work related to the resolution of nonlinear equation in Argyros (J Math Anal Appl 332:97–108, 2007) and has the following advantages: faster convergence to the solution than all the previous known ones in Argyros and Hilout (Appl Math Comput, 2008 in press), Hilout (J Math Anal Appl 339:53–761, 2008, Positivity 10:673–700, 2006), and we do not need to evaluate any Fréchet derivative. We provide also an improvement of the ratio of our algorithm under some center-conditions and less computational cost. Numerical examples are also provided.   相似文献

A new concept of consistency for cost sharing solutions is discussed, analyzed, and related to the homonymous and natural property within the rationing context. Main result is that the isomorphism in Moulin and Shenker (J Econ Theory 64:178–201, 1994) pairs each additive and consistent single-valued mechanism with a corresponding monotonic and consistent rationing method. Then this answers the open question in Moulin (Econometrica 68:643–684, 2000; Handbook of social choice and welfare. Handbooks in economics, pp 289–357, 2002) whether such notion for cost sharing exists. The conclusion is that renown solutions like the average and serial cost sharing mechanisms are consistent, whereas the Shapley–Shubik mechanism is not. Average cost sharing is the only strongly consistent element in this class. The two subclasses of incremental and parametric cost sharing mechanisms are further analyzed as refinement of the main result.  相似文献
