The notion of the bounded approximation property = BAP (resp. the uniform approximation property = UAP) of a pair [Banach space, its subspace] is used to prove that if X is a -space, Y a subspace with the BAP (resp. UAP), then the quotient X/Y has the BAP (resp. UAP). If Q: XZ is a surjection, X is a 1-space and Z is a p -space (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞), then ker Q has the UAP. A complemented subspace of a weakly sequentially complete Banach lattice has the separable complementation property = SCP. A criterion for a space with GL-l.u.st. to have the SCP is given. Spaces which are quotients of weakly sequentially complete lattices and are uncomplemented in their second duals are studied. Examples are given of spaces with the SCP which have subspaces that fail the SCP. The results are applied to spaces of measures on a compact Abelian group orthogonal to a fixed Sidon set and to Sobolev spaces of functions of bounded variation on ℝ n .  相似文献

Summary Let A be either B p, qs or F p, qs , where - ∞<s <∞; 0<p, q≦∞ (spaces of Besov-Hardy-Sobolev type, defined on Rn). (i) If g ∈C ϱ (H?lder-Zygmund spaces), then f → gf is a bounded operator from A into A, provided that ϱ=ϱ(s, p, q, n) is large enough. (ii) There are given sufficient conditions for s, p, and q ensuring that A is a subalgebra of C (space of uniformly continuous bounded functions on Rn). This paper considers the isometric extension problem concerning the mapping from the unit sphere S 1(E) of the normed space E into the unit sphere S 1(l (Γ)). We find a condition under which an isometry from S 1(E) into S 1(l (Γ)) can be linearly and isometrically extended to the whole space. Since l (Γ) is universal with respect to isometry for normed spaces, isometric extension problems on a class of normed spaces are solved. More precisely, if E and F are two normed spaces, and if V 0: S 1(E) → S 1(F) is a surjective isometry, where c 00(Γ) ⊆ Fl (Γ), then V 0 can be extended to be an isometric operator defined on the whole space. By considering all surfaces and their mapping class groups at once, it is shown that the classifying space of the stable mapping class group after plus construction, BΓ +, has the homotopy type of an infinite loop space. The main new tool is a generalized group completion theorem for simplicial categories. The first deloop of BΓ + coincides with that of Miller [M] induced by the pairs of pants multiplication. The classical representation of the mapping class group onto Siegel's modular group is shown to induce a map of infinite loop spaces from BΓ + to K-theory. It is then a direct consequence of a theorem by Charney and Cohen [CC] that there is a space Y such that BΓ +≃Im J (1/2)×Y, where Im J (1/2) is the image of J localized away from the prime 2. We consider the topological space of all weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of infinite order endowed with the operator norm. We show that the set of compact weighted composition operators is path connected. Furthermore, we find conditions to ensure that two weighted composition operators are in the same path connected component if the difference of them is compact. Moreover, we compare the topologies induced by L(H) and L(Hv) on the space of bounded composition operators and give a sufficient condition for a composition operator to be isolated.  相似文献

We prove that an order unit can be adjoined to every L -matricially Riesz normed space. We introduce a notion of strong subspaces. The matrix order unit space obtained by adjoining an order unit to an L -matrically Riesz normed space is unique in the sense that the former is a strong L -matricially Riesz normed ideal of the later with codimension one. As an application of this result we extend Arveson’s extension theorem to L -matircially Riesz normed spaces. As another application of the above adjoining we generalize Wittstock’s decomposition of completely bounded maps into completely positive maps on C *-algebras to L -matricially Riesz normed spaces. We obtain sharper results in the case of approximate matrix order unit spaces. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000). Primary 46L07  相似文献

We consider singular integral operators of the form (a)Z 1L−1Z2, (b)Z 1Z2L−1, and (c)L −1Z1Z2, whereZ 1 andZ 2 are nonzero right-invariant vector fields, andL is theL 2-closure of a canonical Laplacian. The operators (a) are shown to be bounded onL p for allp∈(1, ∞) and of weak type (1, 1), whereas all of the operators in (b) and (c) are not of weak type (p, p) for anyp∈[1, ∞). We prove a “unique crossed product decomposition” result for group measure space II1 factors L (X)⋊Γ arising from arbitrary free ergodic probability measure preserving (p.m.p.) actions of groups Γ in a fairly large family G\mathcal{G}, which contains all free products of a Kazhdan group and a non-trivial group, as well as certain amalgamated free products over an amenable subgroup. We deduce that if T n denotes the group of upper triangular matrices in PSL (n,ℤ), then any free, mixing p.m.p. action of G = \operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)*Tn\operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)\Gamma=\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z})*_{T_{n}}\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z}) is W-superrigid, i.e. any isomorphism between L (X)⋊Γ and an arbitrary group measure space factor L (Y)⋊Λ, comes from a conjugacy of the actions. We also prove that for many groups Γ in the family G\mathcal{G}, the Bernoulli actions of Γ are W-superrigid.  相似文献

We prove that a collection (X, Y, Z) is a Lebesgue triple if X is a metrizable space, Y is a perfectly normal space, and Z is a strongly σ-metrizable topological vector space with stratification (Z m) m = 1, where, for every m ∈ ℕ, Z m is a closed, metrizable, separable subspace of Z that is arcwise connected and locally arcwise connected. __________ Translated from Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 59, No. 12, pp. 1639–1646, December, 2007.  相似文献

We say that a Banach space X satisfies the “descent spectrum equality” (in short, DSE) whenever, for every bounded linear operator T on X, the descent spectrum of T as an operator coincides with the descent spectrum of T as an element of the algebra of all bounded linear operators on X. We prove that the DSE is fulfilled by ℓ1, all Hilbert spaces, and all Banach spaces which are not isomorphic to any of their proper quotients (so, in particular, by the hereditarily indecomposable Banach spaces [8]), but not by ℓ p , for 1 < p ≤ ∞ with p ≠ 2. Actually, a Banach space is not isomorphic to any of its proper quotients if and only if it is not isomorphic to any of its proper complemented subspaces and satisfies the DSE.  相似文献

We give here some properties of the sets α(uΔ) generalizing the space of generalized difference sequencesl (uΔ). Then we study spaces related to the sets of sequences that are strongly convergent or strongly bounded. Next we define from the sets of spaces that are (N,q) summable or bounded the sets of spaces that are (N,q)α-bounded orr-bounded. Then we give some properties of these spaces using Banach space of the forms α.  相似文献

For the cyclotomic \mathbb Z2{\mathbb Z_2}-extension k of an imaginary quadratic field k, we consider whether the Galois group G(k ) of the maximal unramified pro-2-extension over k is abelian or not. The group G(k ) is abelian if and only if the nth layer of the \mathbb Z2{\mathbb {Z}_2}-extension has abelian 2-class field tower for all n ≥ 1. The purpose of this paper is to classify all such imaginary quadratic fields k in part by using Iwasawa polynomials.  相似文献

We develop a new approach to studying the geometry of Carnot–Carathéodory spaces under minimal assumptions on the smoothness of basis vector fields. We obtain quantitative comparison estimates for the local geometries of two different local Carnot groups, as well as of a local Carnot group and the original space. As corollaries, we deduce some results that are well-known and basic for the “smooth” case: the generalized triangle inequality for d , the local approximation theorem for the quasimetric d , the Rashevskiǐ–Chow theorem, the ball-box theorem, and so on.  相似文献

We consider a spectral problem for a fourth-order ordinary differential equation with spectral parameter in a boundary condition. We study the structure of root spaces and analyze the basis properties in the space L p (0, l), 1 < p < ∞, of systems of root functions of that problem.  相似文献

Spaces of analytic functions of Hardy-Bloch type   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
For 0<p≤∞ and 0<q≤∞, the space of Hardy-Bloch type ℬ(p,q) consists of those functionsf which are analytic in the unit diskD such that (1−r)M p (r,f′)⊂L q (dr/(1−r)). We note that ℬ(∞,∞) coincides with the Bloch space ℬ and that ℬ⊂ℬ(p,∞) for allp. Also, the space ℬ(p,p) is the Dirichlet spaceD p−1 p . We prove a number of results on decomposition of spaces with logarithmic weights which allow us to obtain sharp results about the mean growth of the ℬ(p,q). In particular, we prove that iff is an analytic function inD and 2≤p<∞, then the conditionM p (r,f′)=O((1−r)−1), asr→1, implies that
. This result is an improvement of the well-known estimate of Clunie and MacGregor and Makarov about the integral means of Bloch functions, and it also improves the main result in a recent paper by Girela and Peláez. We also consider the question of characterizing the univalent functions in the spaces ℬ(p,2), 0<p<∞, and in some other related spaces and give some applications of our estimates to study the Carleson measures for the spaces ℬ(p,2) andD p−1 p . We prove that a locally compact ANR-space X is a Q-manifold if and only if it has the Disjoint Disk Property (DDP), all points of X are homological Z -points and X has the countable-dimensional approximation property (cd-AP), which means that each map f: KX of a compact polyhedron can be approximated by a map with the countable-dimensional image. As an application we prove that a space X with DDP and cd-AP is a Q-manifold if some finite power of X is a Q-manifold. If some finite power of a space X with cd-AP is a Q-manifold, then X 2 and X × [0, 1] are Q-manifolds as well. We construct a countable family χ of spaces with DDP and cd-AP such that no space Xχ is homeomorphic to the Hilbert cube Q whereas the product X × Y of any different spaces X, Yχ is homeomorphic to Q. We also show that no uncountable family χ with such properties exists. This work was supported by the Slovenian-Ukrainian (Grant No. SLO-UKR 04-06/07)  相似文献

In our earlier papers we constructed examples of 2-dimensional nonaspherical simply-connected cell-like Peano continua, called Snake space. In the sequel we introduced the functor SC(−,−) defined on the category of all spaces with base points and continuous mappings. For the circle S 1, the space SC(S1, *){SC(S^1, {_{*}})} is a Snake space. In the present paper we study the higher-dimensional homology and homotopy properties of the spaces SC(Z, *){SC(Z, {_{*}})} for any path-connected compact spaces Z.  相似文献

Recently, the space bvp of real or complex numbers consisting of all sequences whose differences are in the space lp has been studied by Basar, Altay [Ukrainian Math. J. 55(1)(2003), 136-147], where 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞. The main purpose of the present paper is to introduce the space bvp(F) of sequences of p-bounded variation of fuzzy numbers. Moreover, it is proved that the space bvp(F) includes the space lp(F) and also shown that the spaces bvp(F) and lp(F) axe isomorphic for 1 ≤ p ≤∞. Furthermore, some inclusion relations have been given.  相似文献

This paper compares sequences of independent, mean zero random variables in a rearrangement-invariant space X on [0, 1] with sequences of disjoint copies of individual terms in the corresponding rearrangement-invariant space Z X 2 on [0, ∞). The principal results of the paper show that these sequences are equivalent in X and Z X 2 , respectively, if and only if X possesses the (so-called) Kruglov property. We also apply our technique to complement well-known results concerning the isomorphism between rearrangement-invariant spaces on [0, 1] and [0, ∞). We investigate the Baire classification of mappings f: X × YZ, where X belongs to a wide class of spaces which includes all metrizable spaces, Y is a topological space, Z is an equiconnected space, which are continuous in the first variable. We show that for a dense set in X these mappings are functions of a Baire class α in the second variable.  相似文献
