Using all relevant data we determine σLT for 1.1<W<1.8 GeV, 0.1<Q 2<2.0 (GeV/c)2. New results, emerging in the region of the second and third resonance, are mainly due to our recently published very low ε-data. σLT is found to be small but different from zero.  相似文献

The total hadronic decay width of the Weinberg-Salam type Higgs boson is estimated in QCD for the Higgs boson mass much larger than the ordinary hadronic mass scale, by use of the operator product expansion and renormalization group equation. We give an explicit formula for the decay width in terms of quark masses including strong interaction corrections up to the next-to-leading order. A numerical analysis of the hadronic decay width of the Higgs boson is made in the six-quark model. The next-to-leading order correction is found to be significant, e.g., 30-20% of the leading term for mH of oue interest, mH ? 1 TeV. Application of our scheme to the decay rates of heavy Higgs bosons of other types is also discussed.  相似文献

We consider real-space renormalization group transformations for Ising-type systems which are formally defined by $$\exp \left[ { - H'(\sigma ')} \right] = \sum\limits_\sigma {T(\sigma ,\sigma ')} \exp \left[ { - H(\sigma )} \right]$$ whereT(σ, σ′) is a probability kernel, i.e., ∑σ′ T(σ,σ′) = 1 for every configuration σ. For each choice of the block spin configuration σ′, let σ′, let μσ′ be the measure on spin configurations σ which is formally given by taking the probability of σ to be proportional toT(σ, σ′) exp[?H(σ)]. We give a condition which is sufficient to imply that the renormalized HamiltonianH′ is defined. Roughly speaking, the condition is that the collection of measures μσ′ is in the high-temperature phase uniformly in the block spin configuration σ′. The proof of this result uses methods of Olivieri and Picco. We use our theorem to prove that the first iteration of the renormalization group transformation is defined in the following two examples: decimation with spacingb = 2 on the square lattice with β < 1.36β c and the Kadanoff transformation with parameterp on the trian gular lattice in a subset of the β,p plane that includes values of β greater than β c .  相似文献

We analyze the high-energy behaviour of vector boson scattering amplitudes within the framework of a recently suggested lagrangian model based on global weak isospin symmetry broken by electromagnetism. Requiring vanishing of the most strongly (as s2) rising contribution to vector boson scattering amplitudes leads to vector boson self-interactions dependent on a single parameter, for which the anomalous W± magnetic moment, κ, can be chosen. Tree unitarity is violated at about 2 TeV for arbitrary κ as in the SU(2)L × U(1)Y theory for mH → ∞. The model is well suited for significant tests of the vector boson sector of the SU(2)L × U(1)Y electroweak theory in processes such as e+e → W+W.  相似文献

In top quark decay a neutral Higgs boson may be emitted in bremsstrahlung from the top quark or from the W-boson. We evaluate the branching fraction for this hitherto overlooked tH0bW+ decay mode, where the W+ can be virtual or real. It has the standard model values of 0.02%, 0.2%, 0.8% for mt=50, 100, 200 GeVand mH=10 GeV.  相似文献

This article reviews the Higgs searches at the Tevatron, as presented over the summer of 2012; both standard model (SM) and beyond the standard model (BSM) results are discussed as detailed (arXiv: 1207.0449; Phys. Rev. Lett., 2012, 109: 071804; Phys. Rev. D, 2012, 85: 032005). We discuss the combination of searches by the CDF and D0 Collaborations for the standard model Higgs boson in the mass range 100–200 GeV/c 2 produced in the the ggH, WH, ZH, t{ie27-1}H, and vector boson fusion production modes, and decaying in the Hb{ie27-2}, HW + W ?, HZZ, Hτ + τ ?, and Hγγ modes. The data, collected at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in p{ie27-3} collisions at {ie27-4} TeV, correspond to integrated luminosities of up to 10 fb?1. In the absence of signal, we expect to exclude the regions 100<m H < 120 GeV/c 2 and 139<m H < 184 GeV/c 2. We exclude, at the 95% C.L., two regions: 100<m H < 103 GeV/c 2, and 147<m H < 180 GeV/c 2. We observe a significant excess of events in the mass range between 115 and 140 GeV/c 2. The local significance corresponds to 3.0 standard deviations at m H = 120 GeV/c 2; the global significance (incorporating the look-elsewhere effect) for such an excess anywhere in the full mass range investigated is approximately 2.5 standard deviations. Furthermore, we separately combine searches for Hb{ie27-5}, HW+W ? and Hγγ. We find that the excess is concentrated in the Hb{ie27-6} channel, appearing in the searches over a broad range of m H ; the maximum local significance of 3.3 standard deviations corresponds to a global significance of approximately 3.1 standard deviations. The observed signal strengths in all channels are consistent with the expectation for a standard model Higgs boson at m H = 125 GeV/c 2. The production of neutral Higgs bosons in association with b-quarks can be significantly enhanced in various beyond the standard model scenarios, including Supersymmetry. The recent combination of such searches from the two collaborations is discussed.  相似文献

Proton inducedL X-ray yields from thick targets of In, Sn, Nd, Dy, Pt and Au have been measured in the energy range 1–3 MeV. Cross-sections have been derived from these thick target yields and are compared with the predictions of non relativistic PWBA, BEA and CBEA theories. Direct measurements of the total cross sections of the cosmic ray pion, proton and neutron inelastic interaction with iron nuclei in the energy range 0.5–5.0 TeV are performed. The σπin, σpin and σnin dependences on energy are determined. The results are compared with the data obtained from accelerators as well as with multiple scattering theory conclusions.  相似文献

The cation conductivity in the directions parallel (σ‖[001]) and perpendicular (σ⊥[001]) to the [001] crystallographic direction of Na4.6FeP2O8.6F0.4 single crystals has been investigated at 293–734 K. The specific features of the ionic conductivity have been studied near two phase transitions at T tr, 1 ~ 450 K and T tr, 2 ~ 545 K. At T = T tr, 1, the activation enthalpy for the dependences σ‖[001](T) and σ⊥[001](T) decreases from 0.45 ± 0.01 to 0.33 ± 0.02 eV, and the σ‖[001](T) curve has a jump of the ionic conductivity by a factor of almost two at T = T tr, 2; the jump is related to a manifestation of commensurate modulation of the crystal structure. In the Na4.6FeP2O8.6F0.4 crystals, the ionic transport is anisotropic with the ratio σ‖[001]⊥[001] = 7.7, 5.2, and 6.6 at 293 K (T < T tr, 1), 500 K (T tr, 1 < T < T tr, 2), and 700 K (T < T tr, 2), respectively. The mechanism of cation conductivity in the Na4.6FeP2O8.6F0.4 crystals is discussed.  相似文献

We study the signals and backgrounds for a heavy Higgs boson in the processes γγWWWW, γWWZZ at the proton linear collider. The results are based on the complete tree-level SM calculation for these reactions. We show that the invariant mass spectrum of central WW, ZZ pairs is sensitive to the signal from Higgs boson with a mass up to 1 TeV linear collider for integrated luminosity of 300 fb−1. At 1.5 TeV PLC Higgs boson with a mass up to 700 GeV can be studied. The nonresonant longitudinal gauge boson scattering (mH = ∞) can be detected in photon-photon collisions at e+e center-of-mass energy of 3 TeV.  相似文献

A formulation of generalized vector dominance (GVD), consistent with the parton model (PM) for deep inelastic electroproduction, is presented. The parton distributions at small x are correctly predicted in terms of the photoabsorption parameters. It is found that no charmed partons exist in the sea of the nucleon. The pomeron ??c coupling and the ?c ? photoproduction cross section are negligible. The ratio σL/σT for deep inelatic and diffractive electroproduction is found to be small. This is related to the prediction that the highest Regge singularity coupled to longitudinal vector mesons is a cut with intercept minus one. In the time-like region it implies that the angular distribution in e+e?π + X is ~ (3?cos2Θ), in consistence with experiment and disagreement with PM. Finally the large value of σ(e+e? → hadrons) is attributed to a series of ?c's.  相似文献

The recently formulated theory of the impulse approximation in QCD is developed further. The integro-differential equation describing the evolution of the parton's distribution function is solved. The formalism is applied to compute R = σLT in deep inelastic electron scattering and the average transverse momentum 〈kT〉 of the Drell-Yan pairs. The cross section formula for the latter process is significantly different from the one recently conjectured. Agreement with recent data is good in both cases.  相似文献

We use a graphics processing unit (GPU) for fast calculations of helicity amplitudes of quark and gluon scattering processes in massless QCD. New HEGET (HELAS Evaluation with GPU Enhanced Technology) codes for gluon self-interactions are introduced, and a C++ program to convert the MadGraph generated FORTRAN codes into HEGET codes in CUDA (a C-platform for general purpose computing on GPU) is created. Because of the proliferation of the number of Feynman diagrams and the number of independent color amplitudes, the maximum number of final state jets we can evaluate on a GPU is limited to 4 for pure gluon processes (gg→4g), or 5 for processes with one or more quark lines such as $q\overline{q}\rightarrow 5g$ and qqqq+3g. Compared with the usual CPU-based programs, we obtain 60–100 times better performance on the GPU, except for 5-jet production processes and the gg→4g processes for which the GPU gain over the CPU is about 20.  相似文献

The high-energy pire-leptonic weak interaction is investigated based on the assumption of the existence of a charged vector boson which mediates the weak processes. With the aid of the fixed-t dispersion relation the following relation is obtained: The weak boson mass mW should satisfy mW? G?12, with G the Fermi coupling constant, if the asymptotic value of the cross section becomes of the order of the strong interaction in the energy region observable in cosmic rays, etc.The scattering processes e+ν→eande+νe+ν are examined by the aid of the N/D method. For a large vector-boson mass mW?100 GeV, an S-wave resonance should exist for the process e+ν→e+ν while for e+νe+ν there should exist a P-wave resonance which corresponds to the intermediate weak boson. The neutral current is then estimated. It is shown that the neutral current produced as a higher-order effect is not inconsistent with the present experiments on the pure-leptonic weak interaction if mW?1 TeV.  相似文献

Results of background measurements with a prototype of the Borexino detector were used to obtain bounds on the lifetime of radiative neutrino decay νH→νL+γ. The new lower limit for the lifetime of pp and 7Be neutrinos is τc.m.H→νL+γ) /mν≥4.2×103 s eV?1(α)= 0). It is more than an order of magnitude stronger than the value obtained in previous experiments using nuclear reactors and accelerators.  相似文献

The significance of the quark-quark scattering process (quark+quark→quark+quark+photon) for the production of large-qT real photons is discussed in the framework of perturbative QCD. To extract the finite contribution of this process to the differential cross section dσ/dy d2qT (hadron 1+hadron 2→photon+anything) we define the gluon distribution and the quark-to-photon fragmentation function beyond the leading approximation. The calculations are performed consistently in the dimensional regularization scheme. Our numerical estimates show the resulting finite qq→qqγ contribution to be a small (order αs/2π) correction in comparison with the basic QCD subprocesses.  相似文献

The transverse magnetoconductivity (σχχ) of electron inversion layers on (100) Si is measured in magnetic fields up to 220 kG at temperatures from 4.2 to 1.6 K. The dependence of σχχ on T, H, and the electric field along the inversion layer suggests that immobile electrons between two Landau subbands are to a large extent localized out of the top of the lower subband. Fine structure, which may be indicative of inhomogeneities of electronic origin, is observed in σχχ vs electron density.  相似文献
