A stochastic predator-prey model is studied. Firstly, we prove the existence, uniqueness and positivity of the solution. Then, we show the upper bounds for moments and growth rate of population. We present an individual based model of cultural evolution, where interacting agents are coded by binary strings standing for strategies for action, blueprints for products or attitudes and beliefs. The model is patterned on an established model of biological evolution, the Tangled Nature Model (TNM), where a “tangle” of interactions between agents determines their reproductive success. In addition, our agents also have the ability to copy part of each other's strategy, a feature inspired by the Axelrod model of cultural diversity. Unlike the latter, but similarly to the TNM, the model dynamics goes through a series of metastable stages of increasing length, each characterized by mutually enforcing cultural patterns. These patterns are abruptly replaced by other patterns characteristic of the next metastable period. We analyze the time dependence of the population and diversity in the system, show how different cultures are formed and merge, and how their survival probability lacks, in the model, a finite average life‐time. Finally, we use historical data on the number of car manufacturers after the introduction of the automobile to the market, to argue that our model can qualitatively reproduce the flurry of cultural activity which follows a disruptive innovation. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary We propose a stochastic process model for a parasite population living within a host population. The host population is described by an immigration-death process. The parasite population in one host is an immigration-birth-death-emigration process. The death of all parasites at the moment of death of their host is regarded as emigration. We derive explicit expressions for the distributions of the size of the host population, of the parasite load of one host individual and of the parasite population in the total host population and obtain conditions for the existence of limiting distributions if time is tending to infinity. An approach to generalized stochastic evolution equations is presented which is based on a generalized Ito formula. This allows the consideration of interesting examples which are stochastic generalizations of evolution equations of mixed type or second order in time hyperbolic equations. It includes more standard material involving a Gelfand triple of spaces as a special case. Several examples are given which illustrate the use of the abstract theory presented.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions for almost surely asymptotic stability with a certain decay function of sample paths, which are given by mild solutions to a class of semilinear stochastic evolution equations, are presented. The analysis is based on introducing approximating system with strong solution and using a limiting argument to pass on some properties of strong solution to our purposes. Several examples are studied to illustrate our theory. In particular, by means of the derived results we lose conditions of certain stochastic evolution systems from Haussmann (1978) to obtain the pathwise stability for mild solution with probability one.  相似文献

We consider the control problem by a nonlinear stochastic evolution equation in a Hilbert space. It is proved that in a small neighborhood of zero a nonlinear problem can be approximated by a linear one with quadratic payoff function. Theorems on weak convergence of the laws of the Wong-Zakai approximations for evolution equation
are proved. The operator A in the equation generates an analytic semigroup of linear operators on a Hilbert space H. The tightness of the approximating sequence is established using the stochastic factorisation formula. Stability of moments of the mild solution of a semilinear stochastic evolution equation is studied and sufficient conditions are given for the exponential stability of the pth moment in terms of Liapunov function. The existence of global nonnegative martingale solutions to a stochastic cross-diffusion system for an arbitrary but finite number of interacting population species is shown. The random influence of the environment is modeled by a multiplicative noise term. The diffusion matrix is generally neither symmetric nor positive definite, but it possesses a quadratic entropy structure. This structure allows us to work in a Hilbert space framework and to apply a stochastic Galerkin method. The existence proof is based on energy-type estimates, the tightness criterion of Brzeźniak and co-workers, and Jakubowski’s generalization of the Skorokhod theorem. The nonnegativity is proved by an extension of Stampacchia’s truncation method due to Chekroun, Park, and Temam.  相似文献
