On functions that preserve M-matrices and inverse M-matrices

In earlier works, authors such as Varga, Micchelli and Willoughby, Ando, and Fiedler and Schneider have studied and characterized functions which preserve the M-matrices or some subclasses of the M-matrices, such as the Stieltjes matrices. Here we characterize functions which either preserve the inverse M-matrices or map the inverse M-matrices to the M-matrices. In one of our results we employ the theory of Pick functions to show that if A and B are inverse M-matrices such that B ^?1 ≤ A ^?1, then (B+tI)?1 ≤ (A+tI)?1, for all t?≥?0.     

Approximation and decomposition properties of some classes of locally D.C. functions

We study the connexion between local and global decompositions of some important subclasses of locally d.c. functions (functions which locally split as a difference of two convex functions). Then we tackle the problem of regularizing such functions by the Moreau-Yosida process and prove in particular that the class of lower-C ² functions fits well this approximation procedure.     

Entire functions of bernstein's class that are not fourier-stieltjes transforms

We consider certain subclasses of the class of entire functions of exponential type bounded on the real axis. We construct functions that belong to these subclasses but are not Fourier-Stieltjes transforms. Particular attention is given to the distribution of zeros of such functions. The results obtained allow us to study the stability of completeness of systems of exponentials inC andL ^p under small perturbations of the exponents. Product of functions in BMO and <Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis><Superscript>1</Superscript> in non-homogeneous spaces

Under the assumption that the underlying measure is a non-negative Radon measure which only satisfies some growth condition and may not be doubling, we define the product of functions in the regular BMO and the atomic block H ¹ in the sense of distribution, and show that this product may be split into two parts, one in L ¹ and the other in some Hardy-Orlicz space.     

Quasi-Hadamard Full Propelinear Codes

In this paper, we give a characterization of quasi-Hadamard groups in terms of propelinear codes. We define a new class of codes that we call quasi-Hadamard full propelinear codes. Some structural properties of these codes are studied and examples are provided.
