Given a metrizable compact topological n-manifold X with boundary and a finite positive Borel measure μ on X, we prove that for the typical continuous function , it is true that for every point x in a full μ-measure subset of X the limit set ω(f,x) is a Cantor set of Hausdorff dimension zero, f maps ω(f,x) homeomorphically onto itself, each point of ω(f,x) has a dense orbit in ω(f,x) and f is non-sensitive at each point of ω(f,x); moreover, the function x→ω(f,x) is continuous μ-almost everywhere. 相似文献

For continuous functions specified on the Baire space, conditions for the representability of a function of several variables
as a superposition of functions of a smaller number of variables are considered. With the use of linear functions of the form
(1+α)t, a boundary value of the modulus of continuity separating the positive from the negative solution of the problem is found.
For the case in which the problem has a negative solution, a constructive method for obtaining (n+1)-variable continuous functions with modulus of continuity ϕ(t) that are not representable as superposition ofn-variable continuous functions with the same modulus of continuity ϕ(t) is suggested.

Convex functions with continuous epigraph in the sense of Gale and Klée have been studied recently by Auslender and Coutat in a finite-dimensional setting. Here, we provide characterizations of such functionals in terms of the Legendre-Fenchel transformation in general locally convex spaces. Also, we show that the concept of continuous convex sets is of interest in these spaces. We end with a characterization of convex functions on Euclidean spaces with continuous level sets. 相似文献

In this paper we study relationships between CNF representations of a given Boolean function f and certain sets of implicates of f. We introduce two definitions of sets of implicates which are both based on the properties of resolution. The first type of sets, called exclusive sets of implicates, is shown to have a functional property useful for decompositions. The second type of sets, called essential sets of implicates, is proved to possess an orthogonality property, which implies that every CNF representation and every essential set must intersect. The latter property then leads to an interesting question, to which we give an affirmative answer for some special subclasses of Horn Boolean functions. 相似文献

Let A be an unbounded Arakelian set in the complex plane whose complement has infinite inscribed radius, and ψ be an increasing positive function on the positive real numbers. We prove the existence of a dense linear manifold M of entire functions all of whose non-zero members are Birkhoff-universal, such that each function in M has overall growth faster than ψ and, in addition, exp(α|z|)f(z)→0 (z→∞, z∈A) for all α<1/2 and f∈M. With slightly more restrictive conditions on A, we get that the last property also holds for the action Tf of certain holomorphic operators T. We obtain some upper and lower estimates for the sequences of the Lebesgue functions and constants of the Whittaker operators for continuous functions. We give an analog of Nevai’s formula for the Lagrange-Chebyshev and Lagrange-Laguerre interpolation polynomials for the operators under consideration. Its “local” version is established.
