We describe the structure and properties of the finite-dimensional symmetric algebras over an algebraically closed field K which are socle equivalent to the general weighted surface algebras of triangulated surfaces, investigated in [11]. In particular, we prove that all these algebras are tame periodic algebras of period 4. The main results of this paper form an essential step towards a classification of all symmetric tame periodic algebras of period 4.  相似文献

One of the popular solution methods for the complementarity problem over symmetric cones is to reformulate it as the global minimization of a certain merit function. An important question to be answered for this class of methods is under what conditions the level sets of the merit function are bounded (the coerciveness of the merit function). In this paper, we introduce the generalized weak-coerciveness of a continuous transformation. Under this condition, we prove the coerciveness of some merit functions, such as the natural residual function, the normal map, and the Fukushima-Yamashita function for complementarity problems over symmetric cones. We note that this is a much milder condition than strong monotonicity, used in the current literature.  相似文献

We discuss a conjecture of Ólafsson and Pasquale published in (J. Funct. Anal. 181 (2001) 346). This conjecture gives the Bernstein-Sato polynomial associated with the Poisson kernel of the ordered (or non-compactly causal) symmetric spaces. The Bernstein-Sato polynomials allow to locate the singularities of the spherical functions on the considered spaces. We prove that this conjecture does not hold in general, and propose a slight improvement of it. Finally, we prove that the new conjecture holds for a class of ordered symmetric spaces, called both the Makarevi? spaces of type I, and the satellite cones.  相似文献

We prove that a real symmetric polynomial inequality of degree d?2 holds on if and only if it holds for elements with at most ⌊d/2⌋ distinct non-zero components, which may have multiplicities. We establish this result by solving a Cauchy problem for ordinary differential equations involving the symmetric power sums; this implies the existence of a special kind of paths in the minimizer of some restriction of the considered polynomial function. In the final section, extensions of our results to the whole space are outlined. The main results are Theorems 5.1 and 5.2 with Corollaries 2.1 and 5.2, and the corresponding results for from the last subsection. Part II will contain a discussion on the ordered vector space in general, as well as on the particular cases of degrees d=4 and d=5 (finite test sets for positivity in the homogeneous case and other sufficient criteria).  相似文献

By making use of the classification of real simple Lie algebra, we get the maximum of the squared length of restricted roots case by case, and thus get the upper bounds of sectional curvature for irreducible Riemannian symmetric spaces of compact type. As an application, this paper verifies Sampson's conjecture in most cases for irreducible Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type.  相似文献

In the solution methods of the symmetric cone complementarity problem (SCCP), the squared norm of a complementarity function serves naturally as a merit function for the problem itself or the equivalent system of equations reformulation. In this paper, we study the growth behavior of two classes of such merit functions, which are induced by the smooth EP complementarity functions and the smooth implicit Lagrangian complementarity function, respectively. We show that, for the linear symmetric cone complementarity problem (SCLCP), both the EP merit functions and the implicit Lagrangian merit function are coercive if the underlying linear transformation has the P-property; for the general SCCP, the EP merit functions are coercive only if the underlying mapping has the uniform Jordan P-property, whereas the coerciveness of the implicit Lagrangian merit function requires an additional condition for the mapping, for example, the Lipschitz continuity or the assumption as in (45). We present the basic elements of a generalization of symmetric function theory involving functions of commuting and anticommuting (Grassmannian) variables. These new functions, called symmetric functions in superspace, are invariant under the diagonal action of the symmetric group on the sets of commuting and anticommuting variables. In this work, we present the superspace extension of the classical bases, namely, the monomial symmetric functions, the elementary symmetric functions, the completely symmetric functions, and the power sums. Various basic results, such as the generating functions for the multiplicative bases, Cauchy formulas, involution operations as well as the combinatorial scalar product are also generalized.  相似文献

In Sec. 2 of this note, we prove the following theorem: Let A ? B be domains such that C/Q is Mori for each subring C of B containing A and for any prime ideal Q of C. Let Σn be the symmetric group on n letters. For l ≤ n identify Σl with a subgroup of Σn in the natural way. Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. This article begins to develop a theory for modules over the centralizer algebras kΣnΣl that is analogous to James's theory of permutation modules, Specht modules, and simple modules over kΣn. We make a conjecture about how to construct all simple kΣnΣl-modules, we develop tools to test the conjecture, and we prove that it is correct for all n when l < p.  相似文献

For the nonlinear complementarity problem (NCP), Chen et al. (Math. Program., 88:211–216, 2000) proposed a penalized Fischer-Burmeister (FB) function that has most desirable properties among complementarity functions (C-functions). Motivated by their work, the authors showed (Kum and Lim in Penalized Complementarity Functions on Symmetric Cones, submitted, 2009) that this function naturally extends to a C-function for the symmetric cone complementarity problem (SCCP). In this note, we show that the main coercivity property of this function for NCP also extends to the SCCP. The proof uses a new trace inequality on Euclidean Jordan algebras. We also show that the penalized FB function is strongly semismooth in the case of a semidefinite cone and a second-order cone.
