We propose a technique aimed at cooling a harmonically oscillating mirror mechanically coupled to another vibrating mirror to its quantum mechanical ground state. Our method involves optomechanical coupling between two optical cavities. We show that the cooling can be controlled by the mechanical coupling strength between the two movable mirrors, the phase difference between the mechanical modes of the two oscillating mirrors and the photon number in each cavity. We also show that both mechanical and optical cooling can be achieved by transferring energy from one cavity to the other. We also analyze the occurrence of normal-mode splitting (NMS). We find that a hybridization of the two oscillating mirrors with the fluctuations of the two driving optical fields occurs and leads to a splitting of the mechanical and optical fluctuation spectra.  相似文献

We define the partition and n-point functions for a vertex operator algebra on a genus two Riemann surface formed by sewing two tori together. We obtain closed formulas for the genus two partition function for the Heisenberg free bosonic string and for any pair of simple Heisenberg modules. We prove that the partition function is holomorphic in the sewing parameters on a given suitable domain and describe its modular properties for the Heisenberg and lattice vertex operator algebras and a continuous orbifolding of the rank two fermion vertex operator super algebra. We compute the genus two Heisenberg vector n-point function and show that the Virasoro vector one point function satisfies a genus two Ward identity for these theories.  相似文献

We consider N=1 supersymmetric sine-Gordon theory (SSG) with supersymmetric integrable boundary conditions (boundary SSG=BSSG). We find two possible ways to close the boundary bootstrap for this model, corresponding to two different choices for the boundary supercharge. We argue that these two bootstrap solutions should correspond to the two integrable Lagrangian boundary theories considered recently by Nepomechie.  相似文献

We study an analytically solvable model for decoherence of a two spin system embedded in a large spin environment. As a measure of entanglement, we evaluate the concurrence for the Bell states (Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen pairs). We find that while for two separate spin baths all four Bell states lose their coherence with the same time dependence, for a common spin bath, two of the states decay faster than the others. We explain this difference by the relative orientation of the individual spins in the pair. We also examine how the Bell inequality is violated in the coherent regime. Both for one bath and two bath cases, we find that while two of the Bell states always obey the inequality, the other two violate the inequality at early times.  相似文献

We study two coupled cavities, each of which contains two two-level atoms. We identify the regions of Mott-insulator and superfluid states. Ground-state entanglement of two atoms in one cavity has been investigated. We propose to use an electro-optic oscillator based on two Mach-Zehnder modulators in two different delayed feedback loops to generate two orthogonal chaotic spreading sequences (codes). We numerically demonstrate, for such codes, spectrally efficient multiplexing and demultiplexing of two digital data streams at multi-Gb/s rates using chaos synchronization and covariance-based detection.  相似文献

We present results of quantum Monte Carlo simulations for the soft-core extended bosonic Hubbard model in one dimension exhibiting the presence of supersolid phases similar to those recently found in two dimensions. We find that in one and two dimensions, the insulator-supersolid transition has dynamic critical exponent z = 2 whereas the first order insulator-superfluid transition in two dimensions is replaced by a continuous transition with z = 1 in one dimension. We present evidence that this transition is in the Kosterlitz-Thouless universality class and discuss the mechanism behind this difference. The simultaneous presence of two types of quasi-long-range order results in two solitonlike dips in the excitation spectrum.  相似文献

We consider the problem of coarsening in two dimensions for the real (scalar) Ginzburg–Landau equation. This equation has exactly two stable stationary solutions, the constant functions +1 and −1. We assume most of the initial condition is in the “−1” phase with islands of “+1” phase. We use invariant manifold techniques to prove that the boundary of a circular island moves according to Allen–Cahn curvature motion law. We give a criterion for non-interaction of two arbitrary interfaces and a criterion for merging of two nearby interfaces.  相似文献

We study a generalization of the Heston model, which consists of two coupled stochastic differential equations, one for the stock price and the other one for the volatility. We consider a cubic nonlinearity in the first equation and a correlation between the two Wiener processes, which model the two white noise sources. This model can be useful to describe the market dynamics characterized by different regimes corresponding to normal and extreme days. We analyze the effect of the noise on the statistical properties of the escape time with reference to the noise enhanced stability (NES) phenomenon, that is the noise induced enhancement of the lifetime of a metastable state. We observe NES effect in our model with stochastic volatility. We investigate the role of the correlation between the two noise sources on the NES effect.  相似文献

We study a system of two distinguishable fermions in a 1D harmonic potential. This system has the exceptional property that there is an analytic solution for arbitrary values of the interparticle interaction. We tune the interaction strength and compare the measured properties of the system to the theoretical prediction. For diverging interaction strength, the energy and square modulus of the wave function for two distinguishable particles are the same as for a system of two noninteracting identical fermions. This is referred to as fermionization. We have observed this phenomenon by directly comparing two distinguishable fermions with diverging interaction strength with two identical fermions in the same potential. We observe good agreement between experiment and theory. By adding more particles our system can be used as a quantum simulator for more complex systems where no theoretical solution is available.  相似文献

We study the statistics of charge transport in a mesoscopic three-terminal device with one superconducting terminal and two normal-metal terminals. We calculate the full distribution of transmitted charges into the two symmetrically biased normal terminals. In a wide parameter range, we find large positive cross correlations between the currents in the two normal arms. We also determine the third cumulant that provides additional information on the statistics not contained in the current noise.  相似文献

We theoretically study the stationary entanglement of two charged nanomechanical oscillators coupling via Coulomb interaction in an optomechanical system with an additional Kerr medium. We show that the degree of entanglement between two nanomechanical oscillators is suppressed by Kerr interaction due to photon blockade and enhanced by Coulomb coupling strength. We also show other parameters for adjusting and obtaining entanglement, such as the driving power and the frequencies of the two oscillators, and the entanglement is robust against temperature. Our study proves a way for adjusting stationary entanglement between two optomechanical oscillators by Coulomb interaction and Kerr medium.  相似文献

We generalize the computations of the long-range interactions between two parallel stacks of branes to various cases when two stacks of branes are not placed parallel to each other. We classify the nature of interaction(repulsive or attractive) for each special case and this classification can be used to justify the nature of long-range interaction between two complicated brane systems such as brane bound states. We study nonequilibrium interfacial states in multilayer epitaxial growth and erosion on rectangular symmetry crystal surfaces. We elucidate a recently observed transition between two kinds of rippled states on (110) surfaces. We predict several novel interface states intervening, via consecutive transitions, between the two rippled states. We introduce an algorithm to solve the block-edge problem taking advantage of the two different sky splitting functions: HTM and HEALPix. We make the cross-match with the two functions, and then we obtain the union set of the two different sets. We use the ThreadPool technique to speed up the cross-match. In this way improved accuracy can be obtained on the cross-match. Our experiments show that this algorithm has a remarkable performance superiority compared with the previous ones and can be applied to the cross-match between large-scale catalogs. We give some ideas about solving the many-for-one situation occurred in the cross-match.  相似文献

We propose a novel scheme for generating the entanglement of two oscillating mirrors in an optomechanical system via a flying atom. In this scheme, a two-level atom, in an arbitrary superposition state, passes through an optomechanical system with two oscillating cavity-mirrors, and then its states are detected. In this way, we can generate the entangled states of the two oscillating mirrors. We derive the analytical expressions of the entangled states and make numerical calculations. We find that the entanglement of the two oscillating mirrors can be controlled by the initial state of the atom,the optomechanical coupling strength, and the coupling strength between the atom and the cavity field. We investigate the dynamics of the system with dissipations and discuss the experimental feasibility.  相似文献
