We extend the classical Hsu-Robbins-Erd?s theorem to the case when all moments exist, but the moment generating function does not, viz., we assume that Eexp{(log+|X|)α}< for some α>1. We also present multi-index versions of the same and of a related result due to Lanzinger in which the assumption is that Eexp{|X|α}< for some α∈(0,1).  相似文献

We first introduce and derive some basic properties of a two-parameters (α,γ) family of one-sided Lévy processes, with 1<α<2 and γ>−α. Their Laplace exponents are given in terms of the Pochhammer symbol as follows

We show the existence of unique global strong solutions of a class of stochastic differential equations on the cone of symmetric positive definite matrices. Our result includes affine diffusion processes and therefore extends considerably the known statements concerning Wishart processes, which have recently been extensively employed in financial mathematics. Moreover, we consider stochastic differential equations where the diffusion coefficient is given by the αth positive semidefinite power of the process itself with 0.5<α<1 and obtain existence conditions for them. In the case of a diffusion coefficient which is linear in the process we likewise get a positive definite analogue of the univariate GARCH diffusions.  相似文献

The so-called spectral representation theorem for stable processes linearly imbeds each symmetric stable process of index p into Lp (0 < p ≤ 2). We use the theory of Lp isometries for 0 < p < 2 to study the uniqueness of this representation for the non-Gaussian stable processes. We also determine the form of this representation for stationary processes and for substable processes. Complex stable processes are defined, and a complex version of the spectral representation theorem is proved. As a corollary to the complex theory we exhibit an imbedding of complex Lq into real or complex Lp for 0 < p < q ≤ 2.  相似文献

Summary Let {X n,j,−∞<j<∞∼,n≧1, be a sequence of stationary sequences on some probability space, with nonnegative random variables. Under appropriate mixing conditions, it is shown thatS n=Xn,1+…+X n,n has a limiting distribution of a general infinitely divisible form. The result is applied to sequences of functions {f n(x)∼ defined on a stationary sequence {X j∼, whereX n.f=fn(Xj). The results are illustrated by applications to Gaussian processes, Markov processes and some autoregressive processes of a general type. This paper represents results obtained at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, under the sponsorship of the National Sciences Foundation, Grant MCS 82-01119.  相似文献

Let (Xm,n)(m,n)∈Z2 be a Cp-valued wide sense stationary process. We study the prediction theory of such processes according to different total orders on Z2. In the case of a “rational order”, we give the spectral distribution of the resulting evanescent component and prove that for two different rational orders, the resulting evanescent components are mutually orthogonal.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss the asymptotic behaviour of random contractions X=RS, where R, with distribution function F, is a positive random variable independent of S∈(0,1). Random contractions appear naturally in insurance and finance. Our principal contribution is the derivation of the tail asymptotics of X assuming that F is in the max-domain of attraction of an extreme value distribution and the distribution function of S satisfies a regular variation property. We apply our result to derive the asymptotics of the probability of ruin for a particular discrete-time risk model. Further we quantify in our asymptotic setting the effect of the random scaling on the Conditional Tail Expectations, risk aggregation, and derive the joint asymptotic distribution of linear combinations of random contractions.  相似文献

We consider a random walk in random scenery {Xn=η(S0)+?+η(Sn),nN}, where a centered walk {Sn,nN} is independent of the scenery {η(x),xZd}, consisting of symmetric i.i.d. with tail distribution P(η(x)>t)∼exp(−cαtα), with 1?α<d/2. We study the probability, when averaged over both randomness, that {Xn>ny} for y>0, and n large. In this note, we show that the large deviation estimate is of order exp(−ca(ny)), with a=α/(α+1).  相似文献

Hermite processes are self-similar processes with stationary increments which appear as limits of normalized sums of random variables with long range dependence. The Hermite process of order 1 is fractional Brownian motion and the Hermite process of order 2 is the Rosenblatt process. We consider here the sum of two Hermite processes of orders q≥1q1 and q+1q+1 and of different Hurst parameters. We then study its quadratic variations at different scales. This is akin to a wavelet decomposition. We study both the cases where the Hermite processes are dependent and where they are independent. In the dependent case, we show that the quadratic variation, suitably normalized, converges either to a normal or to a Rosenblatt distribution, whatever the order of the original Hermite processes.  相似文献

We introduce a class of discrete time stationary trawl processes taking real or integer values and written as sums of past values of independent ‘seed’ processes on shrinking intervals (‘trawl heights’). Related trawl processes in continuous time were studied in Barndorff-Nielsen et al. (2011, 2014).In the case when the trawl function decays as a power function of the lag with exponent 1<α<2, the trawl process exhibits long memory and its covariance function is non-summable. We show that under general conditions on generic seed process, the normalized partial sums of such trawl process may tend either to a fractional Brownian motion or to an α-stable Lévy process. Moreover if the trawl function admits a faster decay rate, then the classical Donsker’s invariance principle holds true.  相似文献

Let {X(t):t∈[0,)} be a centered stationary Gaussian process. We study the exact asymptotics of P(sups∈[0,T]X(s)>u), as u, where T is an independent of {X(t)} nonnegative random variable. It appears that the heaviness of T impacts the form of the asymptotics, leading to three scenarios: the case of integrable T, the case of T having regularly varying tail distribution with parameter λ∈(0,1) and the case of T having slowly varying tail distribution.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the properties of the recently introduced measure of dependence called correlation cascade. We show that the correlation cascade is a promising tool for studying the dependence structure of infinitely divisible processes. We describe the ergodic properties (ergodicity, weak mixing, mixing) of stationary infinitely divisible processes in the language of the correlation cascade and establish its relationship with the codifference. Using the correlation cascade, we investigate the dependence structure of four fractional αα-stable stationary processes. We detect the property of long memory and verify the ergodic properties of the discussed processes.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behaviour of the empirical distribution function derived from a stationary marked point process when a convex sampling window is expanding without bounds in all directions. We consider a random field model which assumes that the marks and the points are independent and admits dependencies between the marks. The main result is the weak convergence of the empirical process under strong mixing conditions on both independent components of the model. Applying an approximation principle weak convergence can be also shown for appropriately weighted empirical process defined from a stationary d-dimensional germ-grain process with dependent grains.  相似文献

We consider a tumor model in which all cells are proliferating at a rate μ and their density is proportional to the nutrient concentration. The model consists of a coupled system of an elliptic equation and a parabolic equation, with the tumor boundary as a free boundary. It is known that for an appropriate choice of parameters, there exists a unique spherically symmetric stationary solution with radius RS which is independent of μ. It was recently proved that there is a function μ(RS) such that the spherical stationary solution is linearly stable if μ<μ(RS) and linearly unstable if μ>μ(RS). In this paper we prove that the spherical stationary solution is nonlinearly stable (or, asymptotically stable) if μ<μ(RS).  相似文献

We consider a Poisson process η on a measurable space equipped with a strict partial ordering, assumed to be total almost everywhere with respect to the intensity measure λ of η. We give a Clark-Ocone type formula providing an explicit representation of square integrable martingales (defined with respect to the natural filtration associated with η), which was previously known only in the special case, when λ is the product of Lebesgue measure on R+ and a σ-finite measure on another space X. Our proof is new and based on only a few basic properties of Poisson processes and stochastic integrals. We also consider the more general case of an independent random measure in the sense of Itô of pure jump type and show that the Clark-Ocone type representation leads to an explicit version of the Kunita-Watanabe decomposition of square integrable martingales. We also find the explicit minimal variance hedge in a quite general financial market driven by an independent random measure.  相似文献

The notion of sampling for second-order q-variate processes is defined. It is shown that if the components of a q-variate process (not necessarily stationary) admits a sampling theorem with some sample spacing, then the process itself admits a sampling theorem with the same sample spacing. A sampling theorem for q-variate stationary processes, under a periodicity condition on the range of the spectral measure of the process, is proved in the spirit of Lloy's work. This sampling theorem is used to show that if a q-variate stationary process admits a sampling theorem, then each of its components will admit a sampling theorem too.  相似文献

Let Sn,n = 1, 2, …, denote the partial sums of integrable random variables. No assumptions about independence are made. Conditions for the finiteness of the moments of the first passage times N(c) = min {n: Sn>ca(n)}, where c ≥ 0and a(y) is a positive continuous function on [0, ∞), such that a(y) = o(y)as y → ∞, are given. With the further assumption that a(y) = yP,0 ≤ p < 1, a law of large numbers and the asymptotic behaviour of the moments when c → ∞ are obtained. The corresponding stopped sums are also studied.  相似文献

We consider iid Brownian motions, Bj(t), where Bj(0) has a rapidly decreasing, smooth density function f. The empirical quantiles, or pointwise order statistics, are denoted by Bj:n(t), and we consider a sequence Qn(t)=Bj(n):n(t), where j(n)/nα∈(0,1). This sequence converges in probability to q(t), the α-quantile of the law of Bj(t). We first show convergence in law in C[0,) of Fn=n1/2(Qnq). We then investigate properties of the limit process F, including its local covariance structure, and Hölder-continuity and variations of its sample paths. In particular, we find that F has the same local properties as fBm with Hurst parameter H=1/4.  相似文献

We prove some analogs of results from renewal theory for random walks in the case when there is a drift, more precisely when the mean of the kth summand equals kγμ, k≥1, for some μ>0 and 0<γ≤1.  相似文献
