Photonic memristor, which performs the function as memristor working on electromagnetic fields, can accelerate the development of all-optical network. A unipolar photonic memristive-like switching behavior in split-ring resonator based metamaterials was reported. Transmission-power (T-P) loops are observed in the metamaterials. And the T-P loops change with the detect frequency which indicates the tunability and designability of the photonic memristor. These behaviors are attributed to the increasing dielectric constant of MgTiO3 ceramic caused by the interaction of sample and electromagnet field. The mechanism supplies a general foundation for photonic memristors which can be used from radio frequency to optical wavelength.  相似文献

We have studied electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) spectra in a frequency span as wide as 300 MHz. This tunability of EIT spectra provides an opportunity to utilize the sub-natural spectra in measuring unknown laser frequency very accurately. EIT is observed when control and probe laser frequency detunings are equal. This correlation has been used to identify and measure unknown probe frequency with a very high degree of accuracy, subject to the condition that control laser frequency is known.  相似文献

We demonstrate an efficient eigendecomposition method for analyzing the guided modes in metal nanoparticle chains. The proposed method has the advantage of simultaneously showing the dispersion relation and the mode quality. It can also separate the material properties from the geometrical properties. Its efficiency therefore does not depend on the complexity of the material polarizability. We used the method to analyze the guided modes of a single and a pair of metal nanoparticle chains. The rigorous dynamic dipole polarizability typically gives a redshift compared with the results obtained from the broadly used quasi-static dipole polarizability with radiation correction.  相似文献

The band structures and equifrequency contours of one-dimensional photonic crystals (PCs), which consist of an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) medium and a common dielectric medium, can be dramatically changed by tuning the coupling field intensity (or coupling Rabi frequency, CRF) of the EIT medium. It is found that for a probe light at a fixed frequency, either positive or negative refraction in the EIT PC can be realized with a proper CRF. The behavior of a Gaussian beam (probe light) obliquely incident on such an EIT PC slab is simulated numerically. The probe light beam transmitted from the slab can be shifted transversely in a large range, and negative refraction enhances this effect. The present scenario can be applied in some areas such as quantum optical and photonic device designs.  相似文献

The optical response of an atomic vapor can be coherently manipulated by tunable quantum interference occurring in atomic transition processes. A periodic layered medium whose unit cells consist of a dielectric and an EIT (electromagnetically induced transparency) atomic vapor is designed for light propagation manipulation. Such an EIT‐based periodic layered medium exhibits a flexible frequency‐sensitive optical response, where a very small change in probe frequency can lead to a drastic variation of reflectance and transmittance. As the destructive quantum interference relevant to two‐photon resonance arises in EIT atoms interacting with both control and probe fields, the controllable optical processes that depend sensitively on the external control field will take place in this EIT‐based periodic layered medium. Such a frequency‐sensitive and field‐controlled optical behavior of reflection and transmission in the EIT photonic crystal can be applicable to designs of new devices such as photonic switches, photonic logic gates and photonic transistors, where one laser field can be controlled by the other one, and would have potential applications in the areas of integrated optical circuits and other related techniques (e.g., all‐optical instrumentations).  相似文献

We study the coupling of localized surface plasmon and surface plasmon polariton modes in a system composed of a metallic nanoparticle chain imbedded in a dielectric–metal–dielectric substrate. The results show the influence of outside parts and imbedded parts of particles on the interaction between localized surface plasmon and surface plasmon polariton modes. An enhancement can be observed in our structure. This kind of the structure has a very promising candidate for biosensing and surface enhanced spectroscopy applications.  相似文献

Coherent manipulation of stored images is performed at low light levels based on enhanced cross-Kerr nonlinearity in a four-level N-type electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) system. Using intensity masks in the signal pulse, quadratic phase shifts with low nonlinear absorption can be efficiently imprinted on the Fraunhofer diffraction patterns already stored in the EIT system. Fast-Fourier-transform-based numerical simulations clearly demonstrate that the far-field images of the retrieved probe light can be flexibly modulated by applying different signal fields. Our studies could help advance the goals of nonlinear all-optical processing for spatial information coherently stored in EIT systems.  相似文献

The possibility of all-optical spin–orbit coupling (SOC) of light is investigated based on a rotating spinor image traveling through an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) medium. It is shown that the paraxial evolution of the spinor image composed of two Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) modes with different frequencies can be analogous with the quantum dynamics of a spin-1/2 particle with strong and tunable SOC governed by the Pauli equation, where the spin-up and -down states have different effective masses. Using realistic EIT parameters with cold atoms, both the radial inhomogeneity of the strong control field and the atomic density distribution with comparable size are considered. The results confirm that the large group refractive index varying in the radial dimension mimicking the central potential can greatly enhance the spin–orbit interaction, leading to visible spatial quantization of the oppositely oriented spin states, equivalent to the two LG modes.  相似文献

当两束激光以Λ-构型作用于三能级原子系统并满足双光子共振条件时,探测激光场吸收谱呈现电磁诱导透明(EIT)特征.若再加一个微波控制场作用于该三能级系统的两个低能级跃迁之间,会导致探测吸收特性明显变化,EIT窗口将发生劈裂.通过求解相应的密度矩阵方程,揭示了外加微波场作用下EIT窗口的变化规律,并给出了相应的缀饰态解释.研究结果表明,在适当的条件下, 电磁诱导透明呈现三重结构,而EIT窗口的频率位置取决于微波控制场的拉比频率及频率失谐量.因此通过改变微波控制场的参数可以实现多EIT窗口的频率调谐. 关键词: 电磁诱导透明 量子相干 频率调谐 多窗口EIT  相似文献

An ultrafast all-optical modulator based on spherical quantum dot using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) technique in GaN/AlN structure, associated with inter-sublevel transitions, is proposed and analyzed. The aim of this paper is to modify and enhance the main parameters of an all-optical modulator such as, power consumption, modulation depth, maximum bit-rate and band-width. To realize these points, we have proposed a suitable quantum dot structure based on EIT in a strained GaN/AlN, with an internal barrier. Simulations show this barrier enhances the dot optical properties, such as dipole matrix element, linear susceptibility, and hence absorption coefficient, reducing the power consumption and increasing the modulation depth. Furthermore, using control signal in EIT process, carriers are driven from an upper state to a lower state from where they rapidly decay to the ground state increasing the modulation bit-rate and band-width.  相似文献

The theoretical study of fluorescence rate of a single molecule close to a spherical metallic nanoparticle is presented. The dielectric function of the metallic nanoparticle and its polarizability is analyzed when the radii of the nanoparticle is rather small. Based on dipole–dipole model, the distance dependence of the excitation rate, radiation rate, nonradiation rate and quantum yield of the emitter molecule are derived out. The results show that the quantum yield is rather small at the vicinity of the metallic nanoparticle surface.  相似文献

We have calculated dynamical Casimir–Polder force between a moving ground state atom and a flat polarizable surface. The velocity of an atom can be close to the velocity of light. The material properties are taken into account using a single oscillator model of the atomic dynamic polarizability and the Drude dielectric function of a metal substrate. The limit cases of nonrelativistic velocities and an ideal metal substrate are also considered. We have found specific dependence of the calculated forces on the velocity (energy), distance and material properties.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the transmission properties of weak probe laser field propagate through slab cavity with defect layer of carbon-nanotube quantum dot (CNT-QD) nanostructure. We show that due to spin-orbit coupling, the double electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) windows appear and the giant Kerr nonlinearity of the intracavity medium can lead to manipulating of transmission coefficient of weak probe light. The thickness effect of defect layer medium has also been analyzed on transmission properties of probe laser field. Our proposed model may be useful for integrated photonics devices based on CNT-QD for applications in all-optical systems which require multiple EIT effect.  相似文献

We investigate the influence of an air–dielectric interface on evanescent field vector detections using a gold nanoparticle as a local probe. In particular, we are interested in how the reflected field from the interface modifies the scattered signal, both in its strength and polarization direction depending on the detection angle. Dielectric–air or dielectric–water interface is a most widely used platform to perform single molecule spectroscopy. Knowing the electric field direction that the single molecule experiences is prerequisite for obtaining precise information on that molecule. The far-field scattered signal is derived by solving self-consistently the polarization induced on the gold nanoparticle by the local field and its radiated field in the Green function formalism. The scattered light intensity for each detector polarization direction is obtained by varying the dielectric constant, the distance from the gold nanoparticle to the interface, and the detection angle. The gold nanoparticle is modeled by a single dipole and coupled dipoles, respectively, and comparisons are given. Detection angle dependent far-field measurements are compared with theory, and they are in good agreements. Our study shows that for vector-field mapping on dielectric-interface, an ideal detector angle exists whereby the horizontal and vertical field components can be readily deduced without further correction. For any other detector angles, a correction factor should be taken into consideration to determine local field polarization direction.  相似文献

数值仿真研究了内嵌钛酸锶钡薄膜夹层的金属网格谐振单元人工电磁媒质的谐振行为. 垂直电磁波激励下, 电磁响应频率随着内嵌夹层钛酸锶钡薄膜介电常数的变大呈现红移, 调谐率为22.6%. 本文提出的人工电磁媒质调谐方法只需要以结构单元的上下两层金属图形本身作为电极对内嵌夹层钛酸锶钡薄膜施加电压, 极大地简化了可调谐人工电磁媒质的制备及应用, 在太赫兹人工电磁媒质调制器等方面具有潜在的应用. 关键词: 人工电磁媒质 钛酸锶钡薄膜 介电非线性 调谐  相似文献

Simple equations are presented for polariton dispersion relations in anisotropic medium for an arbitrary direction of wave vector, where LT (longitudinal-transverse) mixed modes occur in general. The use of the polarizability tensor defined for pure external (not for the total) field is essentially important to obtain the simple result. The relation between all the tensor components of the polarizability and dielectric function is also explicitly given. The result can be used for any elementary excitations relevant to dielectric function. In the case of multi-component excitons of LT mixed mode character, the dispersion equation is rewritten in a matrix form, which is useful to obtain the allowed values of polariton wave vector for a given frequency.  相似文献

The intense colors of noble metal nanoparticles have inspired artists and fascinated scientists for hundreds of years. In this review, we describe three sensing platforms based on the tunability of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of gold and silver nanoparticles. Specifically, the color associated with solution-phase nanoparticles, surface-confined nanoparticle arrays, and single nanoparticles will be shown to be tunable and useful as platforms for biological sensing.  相似文献

We propose a method of all-optical investigation of radiofrequency (RF) radiation based on the coherent effect of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). It is shown that if the atomic coherence is perturbed by an RF field, the shape of probe pulse propagating in a three-level ??-type atomic medium under EIT conditions is modified correspondingly to the temporal structure of the RF pulse. The effect is sensitive to the parameters of the pulse which enables measuring the intensity and the spectrum of the RF pulse. The method can be used for storage and lossless transfer of RF information over long distances using optical pulses.  相似文献

Single crystal of Ethylenediaminium Tetrachlorozincate has been grown by slow evaporation method. The single crystal XRD study confirms the orthorhombic structure of the crystal. The presence of functional group vibrations are ascertained through FTIR and Raman studies. In optical studies, the insulating behaviour of the material is established by Tauc plot. The refractive index and the real dielectric constant of the crystal are calculated. The electronic polarizability in the high frequency optical region is also calculated from the dielectric constant values by using the Clausius–Mossotti equation. The large value of dielectric constant is identified through dielectric studies and it points to the ferroelectric behaviour of the material. Further an experimental study confirms the ferroelectric behaviour of the material. The total polarizability of the crystal owing to the space charge, dipole, ionic and electronic polarizability contributions is obtained experimentally, and it matches well with the theoretically obtained value from Penn analysis. Further, Plasmon energy and Fermi energy of the material are also calculated using Penn analysis.  相似文献

提出了一种利用微波场的相对相位调控电磁诱导透明(EIT)光谱特性的方法. 在外加双微波驱动场的准Λ型四能级原子系统中,通过求解系统的密度矩阵方程得到探测场的吸收谱,分析了电磁诱导透明窗口的位置随微波驱动场相位的变化规律,并借助缀饰态理论给出了准确解释. 结果表明,对于确定的作用场强度,调节微波驱动场的相位可实现电磁诱导透明的频率位置及间隔的准确控制. 关键词: 四能级原子系统 电磁诱导透明(EIT) 相位控制 微波场  相似文献
