Continuous-wave blue light at 429 nm from a second harmonic process has been investigated at room temperature with Potassium Niobate (KNbO3) crystal. Optimum parameters for nonlinear conversion in our designing single-resonant, external ring cavity pumped by the Ti:sapphire laser are established. 39% of maximum overall conversion efficiency is obtained and factors that limit the conversion efficiency is discussed.  相似文献

A numerical study of second harmonic generation (SHG) in one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals based on full nonlinear system of equations, implemented by a combination of the method of finite elements and fixed-point iterations, is reported. This model is derived from a nonlinear system of Maxwell’s equations, which partly overcomes the known shortcoming of some existing models relied on the undepleted-pump approximation. We derive a general solution of SHG in one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals structures. The convergence of our method is fast. Numerical simulations also show the conversion efficiency of SHG can be significantly enhanced when the frequencies of the fundamental wave are located at the photonic band edges or are assigned to the designed defect states.  相似文献

We have measured optical second harmonic intensity from arrays of Pt nanowires of 20 nm and 9 nm average widths, as a function of the incident and output light polarizations, the azimuthal angle, and the excitation photon energy. The nanowires were fabricated through shadow deposition on self-organized NaCl(1 1 0) faceted templates. The anisotropy of the SH intensity from the Pt nanowires was found to be stronger than that from the Au nanowires reported previously. The effective nonlinear susceptibility element , with the suffix 2 indicating the direction , was observed for Pt nanowires, although it was not observed for Au nanowires. This difference is suggested to be due to the weaker suppression of the incident fundamental fields by the depolarization field in the Pt nanowires and the larger anisotropy in the nonlinearity of Pt nanowires due to the thinner widths.  相似文献

在八重准周期极化的铌酸锂非线性光子晶体中,通过调节基频光波长实现了多个波长的同时共线准相位匹配倍频,最高转换效率达36%.同时,测量了准晶非线性光子晶体中二次谐波转换效率随晶体温度以及入射波长的变化,结果表明二次谐波在长波处具有更宽的温度以及波长调谐带宽.该项研究对于准周期非线性光子晶体在实际工作中的运用具有重要的指导意义. 关键词: 准周期 非线性光子晶体 温度调谐 波长调谐  相似文献

Colored conical emission was observed experimentally in a thick beta-barium borate crystal as a result of spatiotemporal modulational instability. In the presence of both dispersion and diffraction, colored conical emission showed specific features that were characteristic of the nonlinear dynamics of the strongly coupled fundamental and harmonic fields. Experimental observation directly demonstrated that beam angular spectra were substantially modified as a result of exponential growth of perturbations by means of parametric wave mixing. Seeded amplification of colored conical emission was demonstrated to support ultrabroadband up-conversion.  相似文献

We investigate one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals consisting of ferroelectric domains with the modulated polarization directions. Significant enhancement of second harmonic generation (SHG) is observed from numerical simulations when the frequency of fundamental wave is aimed at the photonic band edge. We devise the model structure with optimal configuration of the polarization directions of the ferroelectric domains in terms of simulated annealing algorithm. The conversion efficiencies of the ‘forward’ and ‘backward’ SHGs can be engineered.  相似文献

The development of a laser absorption spectroscopy sensor system has been described for measurement of two-dimensional (2D) integrated absorbance linear density and temperature distributions. The system incorporates a tunable distributed feedback (DFB) diode laser at 1391.67 nm and a scanning mirror mounted on a moveable carriage, whilst a photodetector and a second scanning mirror are mounted on another moveable carriage. Both carriages move independently along a circular rail with a diameter of 97 cm. The positions of the carriages and the scanning mirrors are controlled by a program via four servomotors. The laser wavelength is scanned over H2O absorption transitions for 11 fan beam projections from five equally spaced points around the circle. 2D images of the integrated absorbance linear density due to water molecules influenced by two heaters were obtained using the algebraic reconstruction technique (the Kaczmarz method). The derived temperature distribution compared well with thermocouple measurements. The experimental results demonstrate that the system based upon a tunable laser absorption sensor can be used for monitoring the 2D distribution of chemical species and temperature in various reactive flow applications.  相似文献

We report on the observation of quasi-phase matched collinear second harmonic generation (SHG) at 20 wavelengths in a two-dimensional nonlinear photonic quasi-crystal with decagonal lattice. We show that at some wavelengths the second harmonics are generated via standard quasi-phase matching, namely a reciprocal vector exists that equals the phase-mismatch vector, while at others the SHG is as a result of the projection-based quasi-phase matching in which the momentum conservation is satisfied up to a projection of a reciprocal vector onto the direction of propagation. In spite of different generation mechanisms, the reciprocal vectors (or their projections) involved in the collinear QPM SHG can be described by a generalized equation.  相似文献

Second harmonic generation (SHG) induced by spontaneous magnetization has been investigated for a polar ferromagnetic crystal of GaFeO3. The Kerr rotation of the second harmonic light becomes gigantic with decreasing temperature below the magnetic transition temperature (approximately =205 K), e.g., as large as 73 degrees at 100 K. The magnetic domains can be visualized by using that large nonlinear Kerr rotation. The spectrum of the magnetization-induced SHG as measured indicates the two-photon resonant electronic process on a Fe3+ ion in the crystal.  相似文献

We present a feasible protocol of continuous variable quadripartite entanglement from the coupled type I second harmonic generation (SHG) below threshold. According to the sufficient inseparability criteria for multipartite continuous variable (CV) entanglement, the four output fields are proved to be multicolored entangled beams in separable locations with four‐mode amplitude quadratures correlation and relative phase quadratures correlation. It shows that the coupled system can produce a compact tunable multimode entangled source that can be applied into the quantum communication.

By using the generalized method of strong interaction of nonlinear waves and computer simulation, an analysis of the influence of self-action effects on second harmonic generation of an intense diverging picosecond pulse is performed. Using the approximation of strong wave interaction, an analytic solution is obtained for frequency conversion of the laser radiation taking into account the pump intensity depletion, the influence of the angular dispersion effect (ADE), and the higher nonlinearities. It is shown that the self-action effects, the ADE, and the linear phase mismatch can compensate for each other, increasing the efficiency of second harmonic generation. Optimum conditions for second harmonic generation in converging and diverging laser beams were found. An asymmetry of the angular dependence of the second harmonic intensity was experimentally observed and theoretically explained. The asymmetry is caused by the reverse energy conversion of the second harmonic into the pump by the influence of the ADE and Kerr nonlinearities.  相似文献

Highly efficient second harmonic generation by a femtosecond pulse under the condition of group matching in the absence of phase matching was obtained. Second-order dispersion and cubic nonlinearity of the propagation medium were considered. The cubic nonlinearity is necessarily required for the generation to be efficient. The results obtained open up a fundamental opportunity for the efficient cascade generation of optical harmonics to be realized.  相似文献

We consider nonlinear optical processes in a cavity maintained far from thermal equilibrium by external pumping. In second harmonic generation we predict a hard mode instability at a critical pump strength indicating the existence of undamped spiking similar to that in strongly pumped lasers. In subharmonic generation above the soft mode transition noted by Graham we predict the appearance of sidebands in the subharmonic spectrum.  相似文献

This paper reports experimental and analytical results on optical second harmonic generation when a noncollinear arrangement is employed. The dependence of second harmonic power on crystal length, absorption, beam radius and the angle between the two fundamental waves is obtained. Double refraction of the crystal is taken into account, but the divergence and depletion of the fundamental waves are neglected. The results of the calculations are confirmed by experiments carried out with a KDP crystal in the near field of two intersecting TEM00 ruby laser beams.An extension of the theory to nonlinear interactions other than second harmonic generation - e.g. four-wave interaction - is possible.  相似文献

Efficient second harmonic generation at 0.532 μ has been achieved in a temperature tuned CDA crystal when a narrow beam divergence Nd:YAG laser was used. At a crystal temperature of 40.3°C, a peak second harmonic power of 7.5 MW was obtained with a peak power conversion efficiency of 33%. The temperature variation of the refractive indices in CDA has been determined to be d(ne2ω?n0ω)/dT = 7.2 × 10?5°C?1.  相似文献
