The synthesis of a new Schiff base derived from 2-hydroxy-5-chloroacetophenone and 4-amino-5-mercapto-3-methyl-1,2,4-triazole and its coordination compounds with Ti(III), VO(IV), Cr(III), Mn(III), Fe(III), Zr(IV), MoO2(VI), and UO2(VI) are described. The ligand and the complexes have been characterized on the basis of analytical, electrical conductance, molecular weight, IR and electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and thermogravimetric analysis. The ligand acts as a dibasic tridentate molecule. Antibacterial activities of the ligand and its metal complexes have been determined by screening the compounds against E. coli, S. typhi, P. aeruginosa, and S. aureus. The solid state de electrical conductivity of the ligand and its complexes have been measured over 313–403 K, and the complexes were found to be of semiconducting nature. The article was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

A new Schiff base ligand, 2-((E)-((4-(((E)-benzylidene)amino)phenyl)imino)methyl)-naphthalene-1-ol, was prepared by the reflux condensation of p-phenylenediamine with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and benzaldehyde. Metal complexes were prepared by reacting the ligand with metal salts: VCl3, CrCl3·6H2O, MnCl2·3H2O, FeCl3·6H2O, CoCl3·6H2O, NiCl2·6H2O, CuCl2·2H2O, and ZnCl2. The ligand and its metallic complexes were characterized by various techniques such as elemental analysis, AAS, NMR, IR, UV–Vis, TGA, DTA, XRD and TEM. The data confirmed that the ligand coordinated with the metal ions in a bidentate nature, bonding through its azomethine nitrogen atom and phenolic oxygen atom; this gave an octahedral geometry. The XRD patterns of the complexes indicated that they were of various structures: the Mn(II), Co(III), and Cu(II) complexes were triclinic, the ligand and Ni(II) complex were orthorhombic, the V(III) and Zn(II) complexes were hexagonal, the Cu(II) complex was monoclinic, and the Fe(II) complex was cubic. TEM analysis confirmed that the complexes were nanoscale in nature. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ligand and its complexes against Salmonella enterica serovar typhi and Candida albicans were investigated by the hole plate diffusion method. It was observed that the Co(II) and Zn(II) complexes had intermediate antibacterial activities, while the V(III) complex had the highest activity against C. albicans fungi. The in vitro anticancer activities of the ligand and its metal complexes were tested towards PC-3, SKOV3, and HeLa tumour cell lines, where they exhibited higher antitumour activities against these selected human cell lines than clinically used drugs such as cisplatin, estramustine, and etoposide.  相似文献

In this study, the Schiff base ligands H2L1–H2L3 and their CuII, CoII, NiII, FeIII RuIII and VOIV complexes have been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic and analytical techniques. All the complexes are mononuclear. Keto-enol tautomeric forms of the ligands have been investigated in polar and apolar solvents. The ligands favor the keto-form in the C7H8 and C6H14. The C–C coupling reaction of the 2,6-di-t-butylphenol has been investigated by the CoII and CuII complexes. Thermal properties of the complexes have been assessed using thermal techniques and similar properties were found. In the FeIII and RuIII complexes, firstly, the coordinated water molecule is lost from the complex; in the second step, the chloride ion leaves the molecule in the 300–350 °C temperature range. Finally, the complexes decompose to the appropriate metal oxide at the higher temperature ranges. The electrochemical properties of the complexes have been studied in the two different solvents (DMF and CH3CN).  相似文献

The novel Schiff base ligand 2,2′-((1Z,1′Z)-(1,3-phenylenebis(azanylylidene))-bis(phenylmethanylylidene))dibenzoic acid (H2L) was obtained by the condensation of m-phenylenediamine with o-benzoylbenzoic acid. The molecular and electronic structure of Schiff base ligand (H2L) was optimized theoretically, and the quantum chemical parameters are calculated. Molecular docking was used to predict the binding between Schiff base ligand (H2L) and the receptors of breast cancer mutant 3hb5-oxidoreductase, crystal structure E. coli (3t88) and crystal structure of S. aureus (3q8u). The newly synthesized Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) complexes were characterized by elemental microanalysis, molar conductance, spectroscopic techniques (IR, 1H NMR, ESI-mass, ESR, UV–Vis), magnetic susceptibility, thermal (TG/DTG) and powder X-ray diffraction data to explicate their structures. The data showed that the complexes had composition of MH2L type. The IR results confirmed the bidentate binding of the ligand involving two azomethine nitrogens. 1H NMR spectral data of the ligand (H2L) and its Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes agreed well with the proposed structures. On the basis of electronic spectra and the magnetic measurements, octahedral geometry of the complexes was proposed. Thermogravimetric data (TG and DTG) were also studied. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for thermal decomposition of the complexes were calculated using the Coats–Redfern and Horowitz–Metzger methods. In order to appraise the effect of antimicrobial activity of metal ions upon chelation, the newly synthesized ligand and its metal complexes were screened against a number of bacteria organisms as Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae and against one fungus, Candida albicans, to assess their inhibiting potential by using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that in some cases the antimicrobial activity of complexes was more biologically active than the Schiff base ligand. Anticancer activity of the ligand and its metal complexes were evaluated in human cancer (MCF-7 cells viability). It was found that [Cd(H2L)(H2O)2Cl2]2H2O complex showed lowest IC50 than the others, and hence was the more active. The activity index was calculated.  相似文献

Several mononuclear Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Fe(II) complexes of tetradentate salpren-type diimine, obtained from 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV–VIS) techniques, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TG). The thermodynamic and thermal properties of complexes have been investigated. For further characterization Direct Insertion Probe-Mass Spectrometry (DIP-MS) was used and the fragmentation pattern and also stability of the ions were evaluated. The characterization of the end products of the decomposition was achieved by X-ray diffraction. The thermal stabilities of metal complexes of N,N′-bis(3,5-di-t-butylsalicylidene)-1,3-propanediamine ligand (L) were found as Ni(II) > Cu(II) > Co(II) > Fe(II).  相似文献

Four tridentate O, N, O donor Schiff base ligands were prepared by the reaction of substituted benzhydrazide and appropriate salicylaldehyde. The complexes of these ligands were synthesized by refluxing the ligands with ruthenium(II) starting complexes of the formula [RuHCl(CO)(EPh3)2B] in benzene, where E = P or As; B = PPh3 or AsPh3 or pyridine. The newly synthesized complexes were characterized by elemental, spectral (FT‐IR, UV and NMR) and electrochemical data. On the basis of the above studies, an octahedral structure has been proposed for all the complexes. The catalytic efficiency of the complexes in aryl–aryl couplings and oxidation of alcohols was examined and their inhibition activity against the growth of the micro‐organisms was also examined. The solid complexes of La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III) and Gd(III) with 4-hydroxy-3-(1-{2-(2-hydroxy-benzylidene)-aminophenylimino}-thyl)-6-methy-pyran-2-one (H2L) derived from o-phenylenediamine, 3-acetyl-6-methyl-(2H)pyran,2,4(3H)-dione (dehydroacetic acid or DHA) and salicylic aldehyde have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductometry, magnetic susceptibility, UV–visible, FTIR, 1H NMR spectra, X-ray diffraction, and thermal analysis and screened for antimicrobial activity. The FTIR spectral data suggest that the ligand behaves as a dibasic tetradentate ligand with ONNO donar atoms sequence towards central metal ion. From the microanalytical data, the stoichiometry of the complexes has been found to be 1:1 (metal:ligand). The physico-chemical data suggest distorted octahedral geometry for La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III) and Gd(III) complexes. The X-ray diffraction data suggest monoclinic crystal system for La(III) and Ce(III) and orthorhombic crystal system for Pr(III) and Nd(III) complexes. Thermal behaviour (TGA/DTA) of the complexes was studied and kinetic parameters were determined by Horowitz–Metzger and Coats–Redfern methods. The ligand and their metal complexes were screened for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillus sp. Fungicidal activity against Aspergillus niger, Trichoderma and Fusarium oxysporum.  相似文献

Polychelates of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and VO(IV) with a new bis-chelating Schiff base derived from 5-acetyl-2,4-dihydroxyacetophenone and isonicotinic acidhydrazide have been synthesized. The resulting polychelates have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR and electronic spectral data, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analysis. All the polychelates are dark coloured solids and insoluble in water and common organic solvents. Thermogravimetric analyses confirm coordination of water in complexes. Various kinetic and thermodynamic parameters have been evaluated from thermal data. The ligand acts as a bis-tridentate molecule coordinating through deprotonated phenolic/enolic oxygen atoms and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The solid-state conductivity of ligand and its polychelates have been measured in their compressed pellet form and all compounds were found to be semiconducting in nature.  相似文献

A new polydentate Schiff base (H3L) was synthesized from the condensation of 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol and S-methylhydrazine-carbodithionate. The 1:1 metal complexes were obtained from the interaction of H3L and the metal ions Cr(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Detailed studies of the thermal properties of the complexes were investigated by thermogravimetry techniques.  相似文献

The new [UO2L(CH3OH)] [where L?=?bis(salicylaldehyde)2,6-diiminopyridine (L1), bis(5-methoxysalicylaldehyde)2,6-diiminopyridine (L2), bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)2,6-diiminopyridine (L3), bis(5-nitrosalicylaldehyde)2,6-diiminopyridine (L4)] complexes were synthesized and characterized by IR, UV?Cvis and elemental analysis. Methanol solvent is coordinated to uranyl complexes. The electrochemical properties of the uranyl complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry in DMF solvent. Thermogravimetry and differential thermoanalysis of the uranyl complexes were carried out in the range of 20?C700?°C. The UO2L4 complex was decomposed in two and the others were decomposed in three stages. Up to 85?°C, the coordinated solvent was released then the Schiff base ligands were decomposed in one or two steps. Decomposition of synthesized complexes is related to the Schiff base characteristics. The thermal decomposition reaction is first order for the studied complexes.  相似文献

Uranyl(VI) complexes [UO2(L)(solvent)], where L denotes an asymmetric N2O2 Schiff base (salpyr, 3-MeOsalpyr, 4-MeOsalpyr, 5-MeOsalpyr, 5-Clsalpyr or 5-Brsalpyr; salpyr is N,N′-bis(salicyliden)-2,3-diaminopyridine), were synthesized and characterized in solution (UV–vis, 1H NMR, cyclic voltammetry) and in the solid-state (X-ray crystallography, IR, TGA, C H N.). X-ray crystallography of UO2(3-MeOsalpyr) revealed coordination of the uranyl by the tetradentate Schiff base and one disordered solvent, resulting in seven-coordinate uranium. Another disordered solvent was not coordinated. Cyclic voltammetry of [UVIO2(L)(solvent)] in acetonitrile was used to investigate the effect of the substituents of the Schiff base ligands on oxidation and reduction potential. The quasi-reversible redox reaction without any successive reactions was accelerated by groups with lesser electron withdrawing. We also investigated the kinetics and mechanism of the exchange reaction of the coordinated solvent with tributylphosphine using spectrophotometric method. The second-order rate constants at four temperatures and activation parameters showed an associative mechanism for all corresponding complexes with the following trend: UO2(5-Clsalpyr)?>?UO2(5-Brsalpyr)?>?UO2(3-MeOsalpyr)?>?UO2(4-MeOsalpyr)?>?UO2(salpyr)?>?UO2(5-MeOsalpyr). It was concluded that the steric and electronic properties of the complexes were important for the reaction rate.  相似文献

Neutral complexes of CuII have been synthesised from the Schiff bases derived from salicylidene-4-aminoantipyrine and PhNH2/substituted anilines. The structural features have been determined from their microanalytical, i.r., u.v.–vis., 1H-, 13C-n.m.r., mass and e.s.r. spectral data. All the complexes exhibit square-planar geometry. Their magnetic susceptibility measurements and low conductance data provide evidence for the monomeric and non-electrolytic natures of the complexes respectively. The electrochemical behaviour of the complexes in MeCN at 298 K was studied. The kinetic parameters were determined and are discussed. The X-band e.s.r. spectra of the complexes in DMSO at 300 and 77 K were recorded and their salient features are reported. The powder XRD diffraction patterns for all the complexes are found to be similar. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and their copper complexes against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aerugenosa and Bacillus subtilis are also reported. The complexes have higher activities than those of the free Schiff bases. Moreover, they have higher activity than the control (ampicillin) except for Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aerugenosa.  相似文献

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the Schiff base derived from indole-3-carboxaldehyde and m-aminobenzoic acid were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, IR, UV–Vis, magnetic moment, powder XRD and SEM. The IR results demonstrate the bidentate binding mode of the ligand involving azomethine nitrogen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. The electronic spectral and magnetic moment results indicate that Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes have tetrahedral geometry, while Cu(II) complex is square planar. Powder XRD and SEM indicate the crystalline state and surface morphology studies of the complexes. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized ligand and its complexes were screened by disc diffusion method. The results show that the metal complexes were found to be more active than the ligand. The nuclease activity of the ligand and its complexes were assayed on CT DNA using gel electrophoresis in the presence of H2O2. The Cu(II) complex showed increased nuclease activity in the presence of an oxidant when compared to the ligand and other complexes.  相似文献

New unsymmetrical Schiff base ligand (H2L) is prepared via condensation of 2-hydroxy-5-methyl acetophenone, 2-hydroxy-5-chloro-3-nitro acetophenone and carbohydrazide in 1:1:1 ratio. Metal complexes of VO(IV), Cr(III), Mn(III), Fe(III), Zr(IV), MoO2(VI), WO2(VI) and UO2(VI) have been prepared. These complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, UV–Vis and IR spectroscopy and magnetic moment and thermogravimetric analysis. The purity of the ligand and the metal complexes is confirmed by microanalyses, while unsymmetrical nature of ligand was further corroborated by 1H NMR. All the complexes are air stable and insoluble in water and common organic solvents but fairly soluble in DMSO. The elemental analysis shows 1:1 metal to ligand stoichiometry for all the complexes. Thermal behaviour of the complexes was studied, the complexes were found to be quite stable and their thermal decomposition was generally via partially loss of the organic moiety and ended with respective metal oxide as a final product. Comparison of the IR spectrum of ligand and its metal complexes confirm that Schiff base behave as a dibasic tetradentate ligand towards the central metal ion with an ONNO donor sequence. The dc electrical conductivity is studied and data obtained obeyed the relation σ = σ 0 exp(−E a/kT) over the temperature range 40–130 °C. X-ray diffraction study of VO(IV) complex shows its crystalline nature with triclinic crystal system.  相似文献

A Schiff base (HL) has been synthesized and characterized by physico-chemical, spectroscopic and X-ray crystallography studies. Three of its Ru(III) complexes were synthesized and characterized by analytical and spectroscopic studies. The DNA binding properties of HL and its Ru(III) complexes have been investigated by electronic absorption spectroscopy. Also, HL and its Ru(III) complex [RuCl2(AsPh3)L] were tested for DNA cleavage properties. The results showed that the complex cleaves DNA more rapidly than the free ligand. Further, an in vitro study of the cytotoxicity of HL and the complex [RuCl2(AsPh3)L] was carried out.  相似文献

Novel Schiff base (H2L) ligand is prepared via condensation of benzil and triethylenetetraamine. The ligand is characterized based on elemental analysis, mass, IR and 1H NMR spectra. Metal complexes are reported and characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, and thermal analyses (TG, DTG and DTA). 1:1 [M]:[H2L] complexes are found from the elemental analyses data having the formulae [M(H2L)Cl2yH2O (M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II)), [Fe(H2L)Cl2]Cl·H2O, [Th(H2L)Cl2]Cl2·3H2O and [UO2(H2L)](CH3COO)2·2H2O. The metal chelates are found to be non-electrolytes except Fe(III), Th(IV) and UO2(II) complexes are electrolytes. IR spectra show that H2L is coordinated to the metal ions in a neutral tetradentate manner with 4Ns donor sites of the two azomethine N and two NH groups. The geometrical structures of these complexes are found to be octahedral. The thermal behaviour of these chelates is studied where the hydrated complexes lose water molecules of hydration in the first step followed immediately by decomposition of the anions and ligand molecules in the subsequent steps. The activation thermodynamic parameters are calculated using Coats–Redfern method. The ligand (H2L), in comparison to its metal complexes, is screened for its antibacterial activity. The activity data show that the metal complexes have antibacterial activity more than the parent Schiff base ligand and cefepime standard against one or more bacterial species.  相似文献

A new macrocyclic ligand, 1,3,5-triaza-2,4:7,8:13,14-tribenzo-9,12-dioksa-cyclopentadeca-1,5-diene was synthesized by reaction of 2,6-diaminopyridine and 1,2-bis(2-carboxyaldehyde phenoxy)ethane. Then, its Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), Co(III) and La(III) complexes were synthesized by the template effect by the reaction of 2,6-diaminopyridine and 1,2-bis(2-carboxyaldehyde phenoxy)ethane and Cu(NO3)2 · 3H2O, Ni(NO3)2 · 6H2O, Pb(NO3)2, Co(NO3)2 · 6H2O, La(NO3)3 · 6H2O, respectively. The ligand and its metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 13C NMR, UV-Vis spectra, magnetic susceptibility, thermal gravimetric analysis, conductivity measurements, mass spectra, and cyclic voltammetry. All complexes are diamagnetic and Cu(II) complex is binuclear. The Co(II) was oxidized to Co(III). The comparative electrochemical studies show that the nickel complex exhibited a quasi-reversible one-electron reduction process, while copper and cobalt complexes gave irreversible reduction processes in DMSO solution.  相似文献

A series of ferrocenyl Schiff base derivatives was synthesized by condensation reactions of 1,1′-ferrocenedicarboxaldehyde and aromatic amines containing long chain alkyl groups as free ends which were characterized by their physical properties, elemental, FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectral and thermal analysis. The thermal behaviour of the synthesized compounds was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) which revealed that these compounds may exhibit mesomorphic properties. The DSC results of aromatic amines and ferrocenyl Schiff bases were compared to study the effects of structure, i.e. rigid core and terminal chain length, on the phase transition behaviour.  相似文献

Metal complexes of two general formulae [M(L)(Cl)(H2O)2] [M = Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)] and [M(L)(H2O)] [M = Zn(II) and Cd(II)] with pyrazine-2-carbohydrazone of 2-hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone (H2L) are synthesized and characterized by microanalytical, thermal, magnetic susceptibility measurement, spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR), mass, molar conductance, X-ray powder diffraction, ESR and SEM studies. While the molar conductance measurements in DMSO indicated their non-electrolytic nature, the spectroscopic studies confirmed a tridentate ONO donor behaviour of the ligand towards the central metal ion. Based on the physico-chemical studies monomeric octahedral geometry around Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions (i.e. for the first series of complexes) whereas tetrahedral to Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions (i.e. for the second series of complexes) are suggested. Based on the thermal behavior of the complexes, various kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were evaluated using Coats-Redfern method. The ligand and its metal complexes were screened for in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against Gram +ve S. aureus, B. subtilis and Gram –ve E. coli and S. typhi. and fungal strains, C. albicans and A. niger. The observed data infer promising biological activity of some of these complexes compared the parent ligand against all bacterial and fungal species.  相似文献
