This paper is concerned with an inverse source problem that determines the source from measurements of the radiated fields away at multiple frequencies. Rigorous stability estimates are established when the background medium is homogeneous. It is shown that the ill-posedness of the inverse problem decreases as the frequency increases. Under some regularity assumptions on the source function, it is further proven that by increasing the frequency, the logarithmic stability converts to a linear one for the inverse source problem.  相似文献

The standard factorization method from inverse scattering theory allows to reconstruct an obstacle pointwise from the normal far field operator F. The kernel of this method is the study of the first kind Fredholm integral equation (F* F)1/4 f = Φz with the right-hand part In this paper we extend the factorization method to cover some kinds of boundary conditions which leads to non-normal far field operators. We visualize the scatterer explicitly in terms of the singular system of the selfadjoint positive operator F# = [(ReF)* (ReF)]1/2 + ImF. The following characterization criterium holds: a given point z is inside the obstacle if and only if the function Φz belongs to the range of F#1/2. Our operator approach provides the tool for treatment of a wide class of inverse elliptic problems.  相似文献

We study the analog of the Cauchy-type integral for the theory of time-harmonic electromagnetic fields in case of a piece-wise Liapunov surface of integration and we prove the Sokhotski-Plemelj theorem for it as well as the necessary and sufficient condition for the possibility to extend a given pair of vector fields from such a surface up to a solution of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations in a domain. Formula for the square of the singular Cauchy-type integral is given. The proofs of all these facts are based on intimate relations between time-harmonic solutions of the Maxwell equations and some versions of quaternionic analysis.  相似文献

The regularized near-cloak via the transformation optics approach in the time-harmonic electromagnetic scattering is considered. This work extends the existing studies mainly in two aspects. First, it presents a near-cloak construction by incorporating a much more general conducting layer between the cloaked and cloaking regions. This might be of significant practical importance when production fluctuations occur. Second, it allows the cloaked contents to be both passive and active with an applied current inside. In assessing the near-cloaking performance, comprehensive and sharp estimates are derived for the scattering amplitude in terms of the asymptotic regularization parameter and the material tensors of the conducting layer. The scattering estimates are independent of the passive/active contents being cloaked, which implies that one could nearly cloak arbitrary contents by using the proposed near-cloak construction.  相似文献

For second order linear equations and inequalities which are degenerate elliptic but which possess a uniformly elliptic direction, we formulate and prove weak maximum principles which are compatible with a solvability theory in suitably weighted versions of L2-based Sobolev spaces. The operators are not necessarily in divergence form, have terms of lower order, and have low regularity assumptions on the coefficients. The needed weighted Sobolev spaces are, in general, anisotropic spaces defined by a non-negative continuous matrix weight. As preparation, we prove a Poincaré inequality with respect to such matrix weights and analyze the elementary properties of the weighted spaces. Comparisons to known results and examples of operators which are elliptic away from a hyperplane of arbitrary codimension are given. Finally, in the important special case of operators whose principal part is of Grushin type, we apply these results to obtain some spectral theory results such as the existence of a principal eigenvalue.  相似文献

Summary For the numerical solution of inverse Helmholtz problems the boundary value problem for a Helmholtz equation with spatially variable wave number has to be solved repeatedly. For large wave numbers this is a challenge. In the paper we reformulate the inverse problem as an initial value problem, and describe a marching scheme for the numerical computation that needs only n2 log n operations on an n × n grid. We derive stability and error estimates for the marching scheme. We show that the marching solution is close to the low-pass filtered true solution. We present numerical examples that demonstrate the efficacy of the marching scheme.  相似文献

In this paper, we elaborated a spectral collocation method based on differentiated Chebyshev polynomials to obtain numerical solutions for some different kinds of nonlinear partial differential equations. The problem is reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations that are solved by Runge–Kutta method of order four. Numerical results for the nonlinear evolution equations such as 1D Burgers’, KdV–Burgers’, coupled Burgers’, 2D Burgers’ and system of 2D Burgers’ equations are obtained. The numerical results are found to be in good agreement with the exact solutions. Numerical computations for a wide range of values of Reynolds’ number, show that the present method offers better accuracy in comparison with other previous methods. Moreover the method can be applied to a wide class of nonlinear partial differential equations.  相似文献

We consider the inverse scattering problem of reconstructing multiple impenetrable bodies embedded in an unbounded, homogeneous and isotropic elastic medium. The inverse problem is nonlinear and ill-posed. Our study is conducted in an extremely general and practical setting: the number of scatterers is unknown in advance; and each scatterer could be either a rigid body or a cavity which is not required to be known in advance; and moreover there might be components of multiscale sizes presented simultaneously. We develop several locating schemes by making use of only a single far-field pattern, which is widely known to be challenging in the literature. The inverse scattering schemes are of a totally “direct” nature without any inversion involved. For the recovery of multiple small scatterers, the nonlinear inverse problem is linearized and to that end, we derive sharp asymptotic expansion of the elastic far-field pattern in terms of the relative size of the cavities. The asymptotic expansion is based on the boundary-layer-potential technique and the result obtained is of significant mathematical interest for its own sake. The recovery of regular-size/extended scatterers is based on projecting the measured far-field pattern into an admissible solution space. With a local tuning technique, we can further recover multiple multiscale elastic scatterers.  相似文献

The authors investigate the problem of identifying the domainG of a harmonic functionu such that Cauchy data are given on a known portion of the boundary ofG, while a zero Dirichlet condition is specified on the remaining portion of the boundary, which is to be found. Under certain conditions on the domainG, it is shown that the problem reduces to identifying the coefficients of an elliptic equation which, in turn, is converted into the problem of minimizing a functional. Under certain conditions onG, it is shown that the solution, if it exists, is unique. Summary. In this paper we perform an asymptotic study of the Maxwell equations with respect to the small parameter where is the characteristic velocity associated with the physical problem and is the speed of light. This enables us to derive the quasistatic and Darwin models as respectively first and second order approximations of the Maxwell equations. Linear and nonlinear waves propagating in a heat conductive gas described by Consistent-Order-Extended Thermodynamics of third order are studied. Firstly, the propagation of plane harmonic waves are analyzed and the frequency dependence of the phase velocity and of the attenuation is shown. Furthermore, our results are compared with the ones obtained in the context of Extended Thermodynamics at thirteen moments and with the experimental data. We show that the existence and uniqueness of BV continuous sweeping processes can be easily reduced to the Lipschitz continuous case by means of a suitable reparametrization of the associated moving convex set. Moreover we put this approach in the wider framework of rate independent operators acting on curves in metric spaces and we prove an extension theorem for such operators. This abstract theorem is then applied in order to infer continuous dependence of the sweeping process on the data.  相似文献

We provide existence theorems in nonlinear elasticity for minimum problems modeling the deformations of a crystal with a given dislocation. A key technical difficulty is that due to the presence of a the dislocation the elastic deformation gradient cannot be in L 2. Thus one needs to consider elastic energies with slow growth, to which the original results of Ball cannot be applied directly.  相似文献

We consider the uniqueness of the inverse obstacle scattering with conductive boundary conditions. This work is based on the original idea of Isakov for transmission boundary conditions, which utilize the solvability of the direct problem, orthogonality relations, approximations to solution of the direct problem and singular solutions. In this paper we obtain a new global gradient estimates in weighted Lorentz spaces for weak solutions of p(x)p(x)-Laplacian type equation with small BMO coefficients in a δ-Reifenberg flat domain. The modified Vitali covering lemma, the maximal function technique and the appropriate localization method are the main analytical tools.
