Summary. We develop a new algorithm for computing conformal maps from regions exterior to non-overlapping disks to unbounded multiply connected regions exterior to non-overlapping, smoothly bounded Jordan regions. The method is an extension of Fornberg's original Newton-like method for mapping of the disk to simply connected regions. A Fortran program based on the algorithm has been developed and tested for the 2 and 3 disk case. Numerical examples are reported. This paper presents and studies Fredholm integral equations associated with the linear Riemann–Hilbert problems on multiply connected regions with smooth boundary curves. The kernel of these integral equations is the generalized Neumann kernel. The approach is similar to that for simply connected regions (see [R. Wegmann, A.H.M. Murid, M.M.S. Nasser, The Riemann–Hilbert problem and the generalized Neumann kernel, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 182 (2005) 388–415]). There are, however, several characteristic differences, which are mainly due to the fact, that the complement of a multiply connected region has a quite different topological structure. This implies that there is no longer perfect duality between the interior and exterior problems.  相似文献

Summary A method is presented for constructing approximations to the standard mappings for multiply connected regions given by Nehari [5]. The case of mapping onto a slit annulus is considered in detail, and computational results are presented for several examples.  相似文献

We propose a method to map a multiply connected bounded planar region conformally to a bounded region with circular boundaries. The norm of the derivative of such a conformal map satisfies the Laplace equation with a nonlinear Neumann type boundary condition. We analyze the singular behavior at corners of the boundary and separate the major singular part. The remaining smooth part solves a variational problem which is easy to discretize. We use a finite element method and a gradient descent method to find an approximate solution. The conformal map is then constructed from this norm function. We tested our algorithm on a polygonal region and a curvilinear smooth region.  相似文献

We treat the time-harmonic Maxwell equations with the boundary condition (ν, E) = (ν, H) = 0 in an exterior multiply connected domain. A uniqueness result by Yee for the case of a simply connected domain is extended to multiply connected domains and existence is obtained by a boundary integral equation approach.  相似文献

Many authors have discussed the Tricomi problem for some second order equations of mixed type, which has important applications in gas dynamics. In particular, Bers proposed the Tricomi problem for Chaplygin equations in multiply connected domains [L. Bers, Mathematical Aspects of Subsonic and Transonic Gas Dynamics, Wiley, New York, 1958]. And Rassias proposed the exterior Tricomi problem for mixed equations in a doubly connected domain and proved the uniqueness of solutions for the problem [J.M. Rassias, Lecture Notes on Mixed Type Partial Differential Equations, World Scientific, Singapore, 1990]. In the present paper, we discuss the general Tricomi-Rassias problem for generalized Chaplygin equations. This is one general oblique derivative problem that includes the exterior Tricomi problem as a special case. We first give the representation of solutions of the general Tricomi-Rassias problem, and then prove the uniqueness and existence of solutions for the problem by a new method. In this paper, we shall also discuss another general oblique derivative problem for generalized Chaplygin equations.  相似文献

The method of boundary integral equations is used for solving the first initial boundary value problem for a compound type equation in a three-dimensional multiply connected region. The problem is reduced to a uniquely solvable integral equation. The solution of the problem is obtained in the form of dynamic potentials whose density satisfies this integral equation. Thus the existence theorem is proved. Moreover, the uniqueness of the solution is also studied. All the results are valid for both interior and exterior regions provided that the corresponding conditions at infinity are taken into account. We discuss the possible candidates for conformally invariant random non-self-crossing curves which begin and end on the boundary of a multiply connected planar domain, and which satisfy a Markovian-type property. We consider both, the case when the curve connects a boundary component to itself (chordal), and the case when the curve connects two different boundary components (bilateral). We establish appropriate extensions of Loewner’s equation to multiply connected domains for the two cases. We show that a curve in the domain induces a motion on the boundary and that this motion is enough to first recover the motion of the moduli of the domain and then, second, the curve in the interior. For random curves in the interior we show that the induced random motion on the boundary is not Markov if the domain is multiply connected, but that the random motion on the boundary together with the random motion of the moduli forms a Markov process. In the chordal case, we show that this Markov process satisfies Brownian scaling and discuss how this limits the possible conformally invariant random non-self-crossing curves. We show that the possible candidates are labeled by two functions, one homogeneous of degree zero, the other homogeneous of degree minus one, which describes the interaction of the random curve with the boundary. We show that the random curve has the locality property for appropriate choices of the interaction term. The research of the first author was supported by NSA grant H98230-04-1-0039. This paper presents a new boundary integral method for the solution of Laplace’s equation on both bounded and unbounded multiply connected regions, with either the Dirichlet boundary condition or the Neumann boundary condition. The method is based on two uniquely solvable Fredholm integral equations of the second kind with the generalized Neumann kernel. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.  相似文献

The recently suggested embedding method to solve linear boundary value problems is here extended to cover situations where the domain of interest is unbounded or multiply connected. The extensions involve the use of complete sets of exterior and interior eigenfunctions on canonical domains. Applications to typical boundary value problems for Laplace’s equation, the Oseen equations and the biharmonic equation are given as examples.  相似文献

The present paper deals with Tricomi and Frankl problems for generalized Chaplygin equations in multiply connected domains. We first give the representation of solutions of the Tricomi problem for the equations, and then prove the uniqueness and existence of solutions for the problem by a new method, i.e. the complex functions in the elliptic domain and the hyperbolic complex functions in hyperbolic domain are used. Finally we discuss the Frankl problem for generalized Chaplygin equations in multiply connected domains.  相似文献

The Schwarz problem for bi-analytic functions in unbounded circular multiply connected domains is considered. We combine constructive methods applied to boundary value problems for complex partial differential equations in simply connected domains and for the Riemann–Hilbert type problems in multiply connected domains. A general method is outlined and the case of doubly connected domains is discussed in details. Solution is obtained in the form of a series.  相似文献

A numerical method for quasiconformal mapping of doubly connected domains onto annuli is presented. The ratio R of the radii of the annulus is not known a priori and is determined as part of the solution procedure. The numerical method presented in this paper requires solving iteratively a sequence of inhomogeneous Beltrami equations, each for a different R. R is updated using a procedure based on the bisection method. The new method is an extension of Daripas method for the quasiconformal mapping of the exterior of simply connected domains onto the interior of unit disks [15]. It uses fast and accurate algorithms for evaluating certain singular integrals and is, thus, very efficient and accurate. Its performance is demonstrated for several doubly connected domains.  相似文献

We introduce an efficient level set framework to parameter estimation problems governed by parametrized partial differential equations. The main ingredients are: (i) an “admissible region” approach to parameter estimation; (ii) the certified reduced basis method for efficient and reliable solution of parametrized partial differential equations; and (iii) a parameter-space level set method for construction of the admissible region. The method can handle nonconvex and multiply connected regions. Numerical results for two examples in design and inverse problems illustrate the versatility of the approach.  相似文献

Summary From measurements of two transfer impedances the resistivity of arbitrarily shaped discs may be determined for simply connected, but not for multiply connected regions. As an example of a doubly connected region the transfer impedance of a circular ring is computed. All doubly connected regions may be mapped conformally onto a circular ring.  相似文献

The author's method for conformal mapping of simply connected circular regions of a special form is extended to biconnected regions. Examples are given to show that the solution of the problem for some common biconnected regions may be reduced to examining the corresponding simply connected regions with boundaries along straight lines and circles. The solutions given in this paper are convenient for generating numerical results.Translated from Vychislitel'naya i Prikladnaya Matematika, No. 58, pp. 71–75, 1986.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to give a convergence proof of a numerical method for the Dirichlet problem on doubly connected plane regions using the method of reflection across the exterior boundary curve (which is analytic) combined with integral equations extended over the interior boundary curve (which may be irregular with infinitely many angular points).  相似文献
