Propagation of strong femtosecond hyper-Gaussian pulses in a cascade three-level molecular system is studied by solving numerically the Maxwell–Bloch equations by the iterative predictor-corrector finite-difference time-domain method.Optical power limiting behavior induced by strong nonlinear two-photon absorption is observed for different orders of the femtosecond hyper-Gaussian pulses. Pulses of a higher order temporal profile are found to have a wider power range of optical limiting but a larger output saturation intensity. Both the output saturation value and the damage threshold of optical power limiting decrease with pulse duration increasing. The decrease of the pulse area along the pulse propagation is much slower than that obtained from the two-photon area theorem due to invalidity of the slowly varying amplitude approximation and the monochromatic field hypothesis. 相似文献

The mechanism of optical unidirectional (OUD) transmission in parallel subwavelength dual-metal gratings was investigated. It was found that this kind of OUD phenomenon originates from the coupling of the surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) between the front grating and a layer of metal film which replaces the rear grating. The higher the intensity of the coupled SPPs at the entrances of the rear grating, the higher the transmittance can be achieved. Basing on this property, an effective OUD example was achieved by exploring the intensity difference at the entrances of the rear gratings between the two incidences of opposite directions. In this kind of OUD, the positive transmittance can exceed 80 % and the difference between the transmittances of the two opposite directions can be as large as 63 %. The possibility of existence of electromagnetic solitons in carbon nanotubes is investigated on the basis of the coupled equations for the classical distribution function of electrons in such nanotubes and the Maxwell equations for electromagnetic fields. Solitons arise due to the matched change in the classical distribution function and the electric field formed by nonequilibrium electrons of a carbon nanotube. By numerical simulations and analysis, we proposed a fiber with multi-hollow-core structure for optical pulse compression of high energy ultrashort laser pulses. In this scheme, different parts of a high-energy flat-top pulse are coupled into different hollow cores of such fiber and each of the cores functions as an independent traditional hollow-core fiber compressor. After the multi-hollow-core fiber, the output beams are collimated and compressed to few-cycle level. Then they can be focused to ultra-high intensity. This method can easily be scaled to compressing pulses of large beam size with high energy without limit in principle. 相似文献

以一维不对称π共轭分子体系(DBASVP分子)为介质,在双光子共振条件下,从双光子面积定理和严格数值求解Maxwell-Bloch方程两方面出发,分别研究超短脉冲激光在该有机分子介质中的传播过程,从而探讨双光子面积的演化规律,并分析双光子面积定理的适用性.提出了一种数值模拟分子介质光限幅特性的理论方法.分子的电子结构和电偶极矩是基于密度泛函理论利用从头计算方法得到的.研究结果表明,基于慢变幅和慢变相近似以及单模场条件下的双光子面积定理不能很好地描述超短脉冲的双光子面积在该分子介质中的演化规律.基于双光子吸收的分子光限幅特性与分子介质的厚度有关.

通过光限幅、Z扫描、非线性吸收和散射能量分布实验,研究了碳纳米管悬浮液对532 nm激光的限幅机理以及样品厚度对光限幅机理的影响。结果表明:碳纳米管悬浮液的光限幅机理并非单纯的非线性散射,对低能量入射激光光限幅特性主要源于对入射激光的非线性吸收;对高能量入射激光,碳纳米管的吸收效应和它电离形成的微等离子体以及液体汽化所形成气泡散射效应的共同作用,使其具有较强的光限幅能力,对浓度一定的悬浮液,增加样品厚度虽然会增强其限幅效果,但却会减弱其非线性散射效应。 相似文献

用化学气相沉积法制备了多壁碳纳米管,并将其溶解在甲苯溶液中.用波长为1064nm的皮秒脉冲激光测量该样品的透过率,发现了非常明显的光限幅特性.当入射光强较小时,透射光强度随入射光强度的增大而增大,输出与输入为线性关系;随着入射光强的增大,透射光强增长的速度明显变慢,并逐渐趋于饱和.当入射光强度较小时,样品的透过率接近100%;而当入射光强为8GW/cm2时,非线性透过率达到30%.根据三光子吸收理论计算,理论拟合与实验结果非常符合,说明多壁碳纳米管的三光子吸收产生了光限幅效应.实验测

We investigate the possibility of optical pulse compression of high energy ultrashort laser pulses in an argon-filled planar waveguide, based on two level coupled mode theory and the full 3D nonlinear Schr?dinger equation. We derive general expressions for controlling the spatial beam profile and the extent of the spectral broadening. The analysis and simulations suggest that the proposed method should be appropriate for optical pulse compression of ultrashort laser pulses with energies as high as 600 mJ. 相似文献

A proposal for measuring the pulse shape of ultrashort laser pulses is described. The proposed method consists of a Gamo triple intensity-interferometer to measure the triple-correlation function of the light pulses. A subsequent signal processing algorithm is used to reconstruct the true shape of the light pulses out of their triple-correlation function. We propose and demonstrate a new approach, to the best of our knowledge, for avoiding nonlinear effects in the amplification of ultrashort optical pulses. The initial pulse is divided longitudinally into a sequence of lower-energy pulses that are otherwise identical to the original, except for the polarization. The low-intensity pulses are amplified and then recombined to create a final intense pulse. This divided-pulse amplification complements techniques based on dispersion management. 相似文献
