We study nonlocal symmetries of Plebański’s second heavenly equation in an infinite-dimensional covering associated to a Lax pair with a non-removable spectral parameter. We show that all local symmetries of the equation admit lifts to full-fledged nonlocal symmetries in the infinite-dimensional covering. Also, we find two new infinite hierarchies of commuting nonlocal symmetries in this covering and describe the structure of the Lie algebra of the obtained nonlocal symmetries.  相似文献

In this paper, by using the classical Lie symmetry approach, Lie point symmetries and reductions of one Blaszak– Marciniak(BM) four-field lattice equation are obtained. Two kinds of exact solutions of a rational form and an exponential form are given. Moreover, we show that the equation has a sequence of generalized symmetries and conservation laws of polynomial form, which further confirms the integrability of the BM system.  相似文献

After a Birkhoff system is restricted by constraints, the determining equations, the Lie symmetries, the structure equation and the form of conserved quantities corresponding to the Lie symmetries will change. Some Lie symmetries will disappear and under certain conditions some Lie symmetries will still remain present. Non-conservative forces are exerted on a Lagrange system. Their effects on Lie symmetries, structure equation and conserved quantities of the system are studied. Folklore suggests that the split Lie-like operators of a complex partial differential equation are symmetries of the split system of real partial differential equations. However, this is not the case generally. We illustrate this by using the complex heat equation, wave equation with dissipation, the nonlinear Burgers equation and nonlinear KdV equations. We split the Lie symmetries of a complex partial differential equation in the real domain and obtain real Lie-like operators. Further, the complex partial differential equation is split into two coupled or uncoupled real partial differential equations which constitute a system of two equations for two real functions of two real variables. The Lie symmetries of this system are constructed by the classical Lie approach. We compare these Lie symmetries with the split Lie-like operators of the given complex partial differential equation for the examples considered. We conclude that the split Lie-like operators of complex partial differential equations are not in general symmetries of the split system of real partial differential equations. We prove a proposition that gives the criteria when the Lie-like operators are symmetries of the split system.  相似文献

The strong symmetry of the general KdV equation is factorized to a simple form and then the inverse strong symmetry is obtained explicitly. Acting a strong symmetry of the general KdV equation on the trivial symmetry and the known re symmetry, we obtain four new sets of symmetries of the general KdV equation. In this paper, we deal with the complete algebra of Lie point symmetries for the generalized model of an irrigation system of fractional order. By means of Lie symmetry method, the vector fields has been investigated which are utilized for obtaining the conservation laws of equation. Abstract

This paper describes a new algorithm for determining all discrete contact symmetries of any differential equation whose Lie contact symmetries are known. The method is constructive and is easy to use. It is based upon the observation that the adjoint action of any contact symmetry is an automorphism of the Lie algebra of generators of Lie contact symmetries. Consequently, all contact symmetries satisfy various compatibility conditions. These conditions enable the discrete symmetries to be found systematically, with little effort.  相似文献

With the aid of the classical Lie group method and nonclassical Lie group method, we derive the classical Lie point symmetry and the nonclassical Lie point symmetry of (2+1)-dimensional breaking soliton (BS) equation. Using the symmetries, we find six classical similarity reductions and two nonclassical similarity reductions of the BS equation. Varieties of exact solutions of the BS equation are obtained by solving the reduced equations.  相似文献

Abstract

We give ansatzes obtained from Lie symmetries of some hyperbolic equations which reduce these equations to the heat or Schrödinger equations. This enables us to construct new solutions of the hyperbolic equations using the Lie and conditional symmetries of the parabolic equations. Moreover, we note that any equation related to such a hyperbolic equation (for example the Dirac equation) also has solutions constructed from the heat and Schrödinger equations.  相似文献

We study a third-order nonlinear evolution equation, which can be transformed to the modified KdV equation, using the Lie symmetry method. The Lie point symmetries and the one-dimensional optimal system of the symmetry algebras are determined. Those symmetries are some types of nonlocal symmetries or hidden symmetries of the modified KdV equation. The group-invariant solutions, particularly the travelling wave and spiral wave solutions, are discussed in detail, and a type of spiral wave solution which is smooth in the origin is obtained.  相似文献

We prove a general theorem which allows the determination of Lie symmetries of the Laplace equation in a general Riemannian space using the conformal group of the space. Algebraic computing is not necessary. We apply the theorem in the study of the reduction of the Laplace equation in certain classes of Riemannian spaces which admit a gradient Killing vector, a gradient Homothetic vector and a special Conformal Killing vector. In each reduction we identify the source of Type II hidden symmetries. We find that in general the Type II hidden symmetries of the Laplace equation are directly related to the transition of the CKVs from the space where the original equation is defined to the space where the reduced equation resides. In particular we consider the reduction of the Laplace equation (i.e., the wave equation) in the Minkowski space and obtain the results of all previous studies in a straightforward manner. We consider the reduction of Laplace equation in spaces which admit Lie point symmetries generated from a non-gradient HV and a proper CKV and we show that the reduction with these vectors does not produce Type II hidden symmetries. We apply the results to general relativity and consider the reduction of Laplace equation in locally rotational symmetric space times (LRS) and in algebraically special vacuum solutions of Einstein’s equations which admit a homothetic algebra acting simply transitively. In each case we determine the Type II hidden symmetries.  相似文献
