The fission processes from the interactions of 0.65, 1.74, 5.1, 8.8 and 12.7 GeV 4He with Pb have been analyzed using the polycarbonate track detector Makrofol in the form of a sandwich. The decay channels ending with one, two, or more (three, four) fragments were detected. We analyzed events in which only two heavy fragments (Z>20) are detected, irrespective of the existence of coincident intermediate mass fragments (8Z20). Using the correlation between the common observables which characterize fission events, we identified events originated from thermal (soft) fission and more violent processes. Cross sections, angular distributions and excitation energy have been determined for two fission mechanisms, and their variation as a function of the incident energy has been investigated.  相似文献

The processes of production of fragments with Z≥ 8 in the interaction of 12.7 GeV 4He with U, Pb, Au and Ag have been analyzed using the polycarbonate track detector Makrofol. The sandwich technique was used which enables direct observation of multiply charged fragment emission by a single nucleus. The decay channels ending with one, two, or more (three, four) fragments were detected. A classification scheme based on the multiplicity of heavy fragments with Z > 20 was used in order to identify the events belonging to the different reaction channels. The cross sections, excitation energies and multiplicities of intermediate-mass fragments 8 ≤Z≤ 20 have been determined for the various reaction mechanisms, and their variation as a function of the target mass has been investigated. The processes of production of heavy fragments in the fission mass region in the interaction of 0.65, 1.74, 5.1, 8.8 and 12.7 GeV 4He with 232Th have been analyzed using the polycarbonate track detector Makrofol in the form of a sandwich. The decay channels ending with one, two, or more (three, four) fragments were detected. We have analyzed the events in which at least one heavy fragment (Z>20) was registered. Fragments produced in the experiment were identified and an event-by-event model-free analysis was performed in order to separate different production mechanisms. We have identified the events produced in fission, deep spallation and fragmentation processes. The cross-sections and experimental features have been determined for the various reaction mechanisms, and their variation as a function of the incident energy has been investigated.  相似文献

Inclusive cross sections of intermediate mass fragments (6Z16) have been measured in 20Ne induced reactions on silver and gold targets at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 MeV/u incident energies. Whereas the production yields remain approximately constant for the Ne+Ag system, they increase by a factor of two for the Ne+Au system over the same bombarding energy range. These results are discussed in the framework of two fragmentation models.  相似文献

A simultaneous measurement of mass (M), charge (Z) and kinetic energy (Ek) distributions of fragments in thermal-neutron fission of 235U has been carried out using a back-to-back ΔE-E detector system. A pair of gridded ionization chambers filled with P-5 gas measured the energy losses ΔE1, ΔE2 of the complementary fragments in the gas, and the residual fragment energies were measured with a pair of semiconductor detectors. The four-parameter data were analysed to obtain fragment Z-distributions using the mass-momentum conservation relations to obtain M and then using the dependence of ΔE on E/M and Z. The charge resolution for the light-fragment group was determined at the gas pressures of 44, 150, 270 Torr and the best Z-resolution was obtained at 270 Torr. The data at this latter gas pressure were analysed to obtain the variances σ2z of the fragment charge distributions for different Ek windows and this was compared with the measured variances σ2A of the fragment mass distribution as a function of Ek as obtained by twoparameter measurements of the correlated fragment energies. The dependence of the measured variances σ2A, σ2Z on Ek is considered with a view to learning about the degree of neutron-proton correlations in the nucleon exchanges taking place during the mass division in fission, in analogy with that used in the case of heavy-ion deep inelastic collisions (DIC). The variation of σ2A2z with Ek observed in the present work, which is somewhat similar to that seen in heavy-ion DIC, implies that the fragment mass division in fission is governed by nucleon-exchange processes, where the degree of neutron-proton correlations is dependent on the total kinetic energy Ek. While for very large Ek the neutron-proton motion in the exchange processes is found to be uncorrelated, for lower Ek values the motion is seen to be correlated. Implications of these results regarding the applicability of fission models such as statistical model are pointed out.  相似文献

A previous analysis of the charge (Z) correlations in the ΔZZ plane for 129Xe+natSn central collisions at 32 MeV/n has shown an enhancement in the production of equally sized fragments (low ΔZ) which was interpreted as an evidence for spinodal decomposition. However, the signal is weak and rises the question of the estimation of the uncorrelated yield. After a critical analysis of its robustness, we propose in this paper a new technique to build the uncorrelated yield in the charge correlation function. The application of this method to 129Xe+natSn central collision data at 32, 39, 45 and 50 MeV/n does not show any particular enhancement of the correlation function in any ΔZ bin.  相似文献

A 5D SU(7) family unification model with two spinor representations of SO(14) is presented. The fifth dimension is compactified on S1/Z2×Z2′. The orbifolding is used to obtain 4D SO(10) chiral fermions. The 4D grand unification group is the flipped SU(5)×U(1). The doublet–triplet splitting through the missing partner mechanism is achieved. Numerical solution of motion equations has been used in the non-relativistic limit in order to determine the focussing properties of the cylindrical field between concentric cylinders of radii R1, R2 with two boundaries along the Z-axis, for charged particles entering the field parallel to the symmetry axis. The field is a solution of the Laplace equation 2U(R, Z)=0, with the boundary conditions as follows: U(R1, Z)=U(R, 0)=U(R, L)=0, U(R2, Z)=V. It was shown that this field can be used for the energy analysis with second order focussing.  相似文献

In this work, we systematically study the α decay half-lives of 196 even–even nuclei using a two-potential approach improved by considering nuclear deformation. The results show that the accuracy of this model has been improved after considering nuclear deformation. In addition, we extend this model to predict the α decay half-lives of Z = 118 and 120 isotopes by inputting the α decay energies extracted from the Weizsacker–Skyrme-type (WS-type) mass model, a simple nuclear mass formula, relativistic continuum Hartree–Bogoliubov theory and Duflo-Zuker-19 (DZ19) mass model. It is useful for identifying the new superheavy elements or isotopes for future experiments. Finally, the predicted α decay energies and half-lives of Z = 118 and 120 isotopes are analyzed, and the shell structure of superheavy nuclei is discussed. It shows that the shell effect is obvious at N = 184, while the shell effect at N = 178 depends on the nuclear mass model.  相似文献

We measured the charge of about 35 000 projectile fragments with Z5e produced by 14.5 GeV/nucleon and 200 GeV/nucleon 16O beams in a Pb target using CR39 plastic nuclear track detectors. A minimum track length of 3 mm in the detector without nuclear interaction was required. No evidence for fragments carrying a fractional charge was found.  相似文献

A complete analysis is made of the normal modes of an isotropic continuum model of a solid which occupies the region (0, 0, 0) < (x, y, z) < (X, Y, Z), the limit (X, Y, Z) → (∞,∞,∞) being taken. The surface z = 0 is a free surface and that z = Z is fixed; cyclic boundary conditions are used in the x and y directions. The modal displacements (vectors), modal frequencies (as a function of the wave-vectors), and wave-vector-densities are obtained for all types of normal modes; the work is a modification and extension of that of earlier workers.  相似文献

To search for new candidates of the true and simultaneous two-proton(2 p) radioactivity, the 2 p decay energies(Q2 p) are extracted by the Weizs?cker–Skyrme-4(WS4) model, the finite-range droplet model(FRDM), the Koura–Tachibana–Uno–Yamada(KTUY) model and the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov mean-field model with the BSk29 Skyrme interaction(HFB29). Then, the 2 p radioactivity half-lives are calculated within the generalized liquid drop model by inputting the four types of Q2 pvalues. By the energy and half-life constraints, it is found that the probable 2 p decay candidates are the nuclei beyond the proton-drip line in the region of Z≤50 based on the WS4 and KTUY mass models. For the FRDM mass model, the probable 2 p decay candidates are found in the region of Z≤44. However, the 2p-decaying candidates are predicted in the region of Z≤58 by the HFB29 mass model. It means that the probable 2 p decay candidates of Z50 are only predicted by the HFB29 mass model. Finally, the competition between the true 2p radioactivity and α-decay for the nuclei above the N=Z=50 shell closures is discussed. It is shown that ~(101)Te,~(111)Ba and ~(114)Ce prefer to 2p radioactivity and the dominant decay mode of ~(107)Xe and ~(116)Ce is α-decay.  相似文献

The β decay of 96Ag (Z=47,N=49) was investigated by measuring positrons, X rays as well as β-delayed protons and γ rays. The γ radiation was studied by means of germanium detectors and a NaI total-absorption spectrometer. Two β-decaying isomers in 96Ag were established with half-lives of 4.40(6) and 6.9(6) s and tentative spin–parity assignments of (8+) and (2+), respectively. For both isomers, the intensities of β transitions to low-lying levels of 96Pd (Z=46,N=50) and β-delayed proton decays to levels in 95Rh (Z=45,N=50) were measured. Several new 96Pd levels were firmly established. The level energies, their γ decays and the Gamow–Teller decay of 96Ag are compared to shell-model predictions. A new low-lying level in 95Rh was found at 680 keV excitation energy. Through a comparison with low-lying states of N=50 isotones, this level is interpreted as the first excited 7/2+ state built on the proton 9/2+ ground state. The assignments of further excited states in 95Rh are discussed.  相似文献

We report the study on the complete three-body Coulomb explosion (CE) of N2Oq+ (q = 5, 6) induced by 56-keV/u Ne8+ ion collision with N2O gaseous molecule. Six CE channels for N2O5+ and seven for N2O6+ are identified by measuring three ionic fragments and the charge-changed projectile in quadruple coincidence. Correspondingly the kinetic energy release (KER) and momentum correlation angle (MCA) distributions of three ionic fragments for each of the CE channels are also deduced. Numerical computation is presented to reconstruct the geometric structure of N2Oq+ prior to dissociation based on the measured KER and MCA. The N-N and N-O bond lengths and the N-N-O bond angles of N2Oq+ for each of the channels are determined.  相似文献

Cross sections for some (n, 3He + dp + n2p) and (n, + 2n2p + n3He + pt + dd + dnp) reactions induced by fast neutrons produced via breakup of 53 MeV deuterons on a Be target (En = 4–50 MeV; Imax at 22.5 MeV; FWHM = 15.8 MeV) were measured for isotopes of the elements I, La, Nd, Tb, Ho, Yb, W and Au by the activation technique using high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy, wherever necessary chemical separation, and in several cases enriched isotopes as targets. Furthermore, 3He/ emission cross-section ratios were measured for Co, Ag, In, Cs, La, Ta, Au and Bi using a quadrupole mass spectrometer. The cross sections decrease as a function of increasing (NZ)/A of the target nucleus. For target elements with Z 44, the 3He/ emission cross-section ratio increases with increasing Z; for elements with Z > 44, however, the trend is reversed. Hauser-Feshbach calculations suggest that the 3He/ emission cross-section ratios are not explainable by the statistical model.  相似文献

We have measured the total and partial charge-changing cross-sections (Z=5) after the passage of a 110 MeV/u 12C beam through an assembly consisting of CR-39 thin detectors and paraffin targets. These experimental cross-sections were compared to the predictions of known models. It was found that the measured total cross-sections agree with the model calculations to within about 8% or even less, while, depending on a model, discrepancies of up to a factor 1.2 higher and up to a factor 2.7 lower values of cross-sections for the production of fragment with Z=5 were observed.  相似文献

Narrow spectrum (blue-green) laboratory partial bleaching of aliquots of natural sedimentary quartz has been shown to have a significant effect on equivalent dose (measured using a single aliquot procedure) calculated as a function of measurement time (De(t)). A simple model, based on empirical data, is presented in which the effects of partial bleaching on De(t) are predicted, taking into account the influences of pre- and post-burial doses. The model is applied to the case of heterogeneous populations of partially bleached single grains with various ranges of residual doses. Modelling shows that under realistic conditions, De histogram plots are unable to distinguish between samples having age overestimates and those with correct ages, whereas the proposed DeZ plot is able to make this distinction. Furthermore, modelling shows that DeZ plots can identify sub-populations of grains/aliquots that show most evidence of full bleaching, which can then be used to estimate a correct mean De value.  相似文献

Already in the simplest two-Higgs-doublet model with CP violation in the Higgs sector, the 3×3 mixing matrix for the neutral Higgs bosons can substantially modify their couplings, thereby endangering the “classical” Higgs search strategies. However, there are sum rules relating Yukawa and Higgs–Z couplings which ensure that the ZZ, and couplings of a given neutral 2HDM Higgs boson cannot all be simultaneously suppressed. This result implies that any single Higgs boson will be detectable at an e+e collider if the Z+Higgs, Higgs and Higgs production channels are all kinematically accessible and if the integrated luminosity is sufficient. We explore, as a function of Higgs mass, the luminosity required to guarantee Higgs boson detection, and find that for moderate tanβ values the needed luminosity is unlikely to be available for all possible mixing scenarios. Implications of the sum rules for Higgs discovery at the Tevatron and LHC are briefly discussed.  相似文献
