Numerical approximation for singular second order differential equations

We consider numerical approximation of solutions of singular second order differential equations. In particular, we study the backward (or implicit) Euler method. We prove results concerning consistency, global error and stability. We show that the global error is linear with respect to the step size. Numerical results are also given, which demonstrate the linear convergence and we compare the numerical results with known approximations.     

Periodic solutions for second order singular damped differential equations

We study the existence of positive periodic solutions for second order singular damped differential equations by combining the analysis of the sign of Green?s functions for the linear damped equation, together with a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray–Schauder. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.     

Twist periodic solutions of second order singular differential equations

We study the twist periodic solutions of second order singular differential equations. Such twist periodic solutions are stable in the sense of Lyapunov and present much interesting dynamical features around them. The proof is based on the third-order approximation method. The estimates of periodic solutions of Ermakov-Pinney equations and the estimates on rotation numbers of Hill equations play an important role in the analysis.

Study of singular boundary value problems for second order impulsive differential equations

This paper studies the existence of extremal solutions for a class of singular boundary value problems of second order impulsive differential equations. By using the method of upper and lower solutions and the monotone iterative technique, criteria of the existence of extremal solutions are established.     

Growth of solutions of second order linear differential equations

We consider the differential equation , where and are entire functions. Provided and as outside a set of finite logarithmic measure, we prove that all nonconstant solutions of this equation are of infinite order.

     

Growth of solutions of second order linear differential equations

This paper is devoted to studying the growth of solutions of equations of type f^″+h(z)eazf^′+Q(z)f=H(z) where h(z), Q(z) and H(z) are entire functions of order at most one. We prove four theorems of such type, improving previous results due to Gundersen and Chen.

Zero separation results for solutions of second order linear differential equations

The oscillation of solutions of f^″+Af=0$f^{″}+Af=0$ is discussed by focusing on four separate situations. In the complex case A$A$ is assumed to be either analytic in the unit disc D$\mathbb{D}$ or entire, while in the real case A$A$ is continuous either on (−1,1)$(-1,1)$ or on (0,∞)$(0,\infty )$. In all situations A$A$ is expected to grow beyond bounds that ensure finite oscillation for all (non-trivial) solutions, and the separation between distinct zeros of solutions is considered.
