The binary system of 4-octyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl (8CB) and 4-octyloxy-4′-cyanobiphenyl (8OCB) has been studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometry (UV). The phase-transition temperatures, enthalpies, and entropies have been determined by using calorimetric methods on DSC. The results indicate clearly the existence of three-phase regions across the crystalline-to-smectic A, smectic A-to-nematic, and nematic-to-isotropic transitions in the 8CB/8OCB mixtures. The obtained phase-transition temperatures of the 8CB/8OCB mixtures are between the data for 8CB and 8OCB. A few of the phase transitions cannot be observed at high heating rates. The phase-transition temperatures of the 8CB/8OCB mixtures rise with the heating rate between 2°C/min and 15°C/min. The activation energies were calculated by the Ozawa method for the phase transitions of 25% 8CB and 75% 8OCB liquid crystal mixtures. UV experiments were carried out to characterize the absorptivity constants of liquid crystal and their mixtures. The molar absorptivity and maximum absorption wavelengths were measured in chloroform solution by UV spectrophotometry. The maximum absorption wavelength of the 8CB/8OCB mixtures increases with decreasing percent weight of 8CB in 8OCB, a result associated with the different lengths of the alkyl chain. 相似文献

制备了两个分别基于4,4’-联吡啶(BPy)和丙基反式环己基苯甲酸(PCBA)以及BPy和丙基反式双环己基甲酸(PCCA)的氢键液晶复合物(PCBA-BPy和PCCA-BPy),结合使用偏光显微镜(POM),用差示扫描量热(DSC)和变温傅里叶变换红外光谱对它们的中间相性能和分子间氢键的热稳定性进行了表征。结果表明,这两个氢键复合物都具有由于分子间氢键作用而导致的近晶相,但它们中存在的氢键作用却不相同,在PCBA-BPy中,温度变化时,发生氢键结合的羰基的吸收峰的位置仅在发生晶型转变时有突变,而在PCCA-BPy中,温度变化时,其羰基的吸收峰的位置则基本不发生突变。另外,当温度高于它们的清亮点时,这两个氢键液晶复合物的分子间氢键都发生部分分解。 相似文献

太阳光对液晶显示器件的影响主要表现在它对其液晶显示器件光稳定性和寿命的影响,从而引起液晶显示器件的迅速老化。通过用分光光度计测量经过不同时间太阳光辐照后液晶显示器件的光谱特性,研究长时间阳光辐照对液晶显示器件的光学性能的影响,分析其光学性能的变化。结果表明, B组普通计算器液晶显示器和C组电话液晶显示器两组液晶片的光学特性类似,品质较好;而A组台式计算器液晶显示器液晶片的老化问题明显比B, C两组严重,品质较差。液晶显示器件长时间受阳光辐照,液晶结构会相应发生变化,光学性能也发生相应变化,表现为液晶表面变黄发黑,其光谱透射特性明显下降。这与液晶材料及制作工艺有关。 相似文献

根据三波耦合过程中的能量和动量守恒、晶体的塞耳迈耶尔色散方程,通过数值模拟计算了213nm作CLBO光学参变振荡抽运源时,分别得到了在Ⅰ类和Ⅱ类相位匹配时参量光调谐范围为237~289nm、807~2793nm和404~2800nm。获得了在Ⅰ类匹配时的单谐振或双谐振腔的CLBO光学参变振荡转换效率都大于同等条件下的BBO光学参变振荡,Ⅱ类匹配时,CLBO晶体的转换效率略小于BBO晶体,但是CLBO光学参变振荡转换效率的最大值较BBO光学参变振荡出现于更短的紫外波段。从理论上证明了CLBO晶体是优质的深紫外透光波段非线性光学晶体。 相似文献

A cyanine dye, 2-[7-(1,3-dihydro-1,3,3-trimethyl-2H-indol-2-ylidene)-1,3,5-heptatrienyl]-1,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indolium iodide (NK-125), is doped in 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl (5 CB), and the mixture is sandwiched between two pieces of rubbed glass plates. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of the oriented NK-125-SCB layers are measured by the resonant femtosecond degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) technique at 760 nm. The third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility of one of the present samples is 5.5×10^-8 esu. The slow DFWM response of the NK-125-SCB layers due to a population grating is accelerated by the increasing laser power because of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). On the other hand, we do not observe a similar phenomenon for NK-125- polyethylene glycol (PEG-400). Oriented NK-125 molecules in nematic liquid crystals must have very high ASE efficiency. Hence the population grating in a DFWM signal disappears within about 4 ps. It is expected that NK-125-SCB can be used as a material for very fast all-optical switching. 相似文献

研究了一种一维透射式向列相液晶光学相控阵.建立了器件的数学模型,根据Frank-Oseen液晶连续体弹性形变理论计算了电场作用下液晶指向矢分布,定量分析了器件的相位延迟及衍射特性.研制了含1 024个驱动电极的实际器件,由FPGA对电极驱动电压进行可编程控制.经实验测试,该器件可以实现60个角度的准连续随机可编程电控偏转与扫描,最大偏转角度为2.001 4°.根据器件的理论模型,对光束偏转的衍射效率进行了定性讨论,发现电极之间形成的“相位凹陷”是形成衍射旁瓣的直接原因. 相似文献

报道了一种由聚合物分散液晶膜与具有周期性条状电极结构板结合的新型光栅器件,借助于聚合物分散液晶膜的电光特性,这种栅对入射光的散射或衍射取决于对其施加的电压,即它是电场可调的,实验结果显示出当驱动电压超过器件器件阈值电压时,衍射光的强度和衍射斑的可见级次被电场调制,而且它能入射光的线性偏振态变为椭圆偏振态。 相似文献
