In this paper we have used the dynamical systems analysis to study the dynamics of a five-dimensional universe in the form of a warped product spacetime with a spacelike dynamic extra dimension. We have decomposed the geodesic equations to get the motion along the extra dimension and have studied the associated dynamical system when the cross-diagonal element of the Einstein tensor vanishes, and also when it is non-vanishing. Introducing the concept of an energy function along the phase path in terms of the extra-dimensional coordinate, we have examined how the energy function depends on the warp factor. The energy function serves as a measure of the amount of perturbation of geodesic paths along the extra dimension in the region close to the brane. Then we studied the geodesic motion under a conventional metric perturbation in the form of homothetic motion and conformal motion and examined the nature of critical points for a Mashhoon-Wesson-type metric, for timelike and null geodesics when the cross-diagonal term of the Einstein tensor vanishes. Finally we investigated the motion for null and timelike geodesics under the condition when the cross-diagonal element of the Einstein tensor is non-vanishing and examined the effects of perturbation on the critical points of the dynamical system.  相似文献

The geodesic properties of the stationary vacuum string solution in (4+1) dimensions with momentum flow along the string direction are analyzed by using Hamilton-Jacobi method. The geodesic motions show distinct properties from those of the static one. Especially, any freely falling particle can not arrive at the horizon or singularity. To get into the horizon, a particle need to follow a non-geodesic trajectory. There exist stable null circular orbits and bouncing timelike and null geodesics. In the asymptotic geometry, some geodesics will be repelled by the string contrary to the case of Kerr-Neumann black hole. The light bending effect will be minimized at an impact parameter determined by the angular momentum and energy.  相似文献

The behavior of the timelike and null geodesics of charged E. Ayón-Beato and A. Garcia (ABG) black hole are investigated. For circular and radial geodesics, we investigate all the possible motions by plotting the effective potentials for different parameters. In conclusion, we have shown that there is no phenomenon of superradiance in this case.  相似文献

The timelike and null geodesics are investigated in the Nordström geometry and it is found that incoming geodesics always encounter a turning point at a finite radial distance. The limits for escape, bound and stable orbits are obtained and they are closer to the source as compared to their counterparts in the Schwarzschild’s field.  相似文献

Motivated by a conjecture put forward by Abramowicz and Bajtlik we reconsider the twin paradox in static spacetimes. According to a well known theorem in Lorentzian geometry the longest timelike worldline between two given points is the unique geodesic line without points conjugate to the initial point on the segment joining the two points. We calculate the proper times for static twins, for twins moving on a circular orbit (if it is a geodesic) around a centre of symmetry and for twins travelling on outgoing and ingoing radial timelike geodesics. We show that the twins on the radial geodesic worldlines are always the oldest ones and we explicitly find the the conjugate points (if they exist) outside the relevant segments. As it is of its own mathematical interest, we find general Jacobi vector fields on the geodesic lines under consideration. In the first part of the work we investigate Schwarzschild geometry.  相似文献

The existence and stability of timelike and null circular orbits (COs) in the equatorial plane of general static and axisymmetric (SAS) spacetime are investigated in this work. Using the fixed point approach, we first obtained a necessary and sufficient condition for the non-existence of timelike COs. It is then proven that there will always exist timelike COs at large \(\rho \) in an asymptotically flat SAS spacetime with a positive ADM mass and moreover, these timelike COs are stable. Some other sufficient conditions on the stability of timelike COs are also solved. We then found the necessary and sufficient condition on the existence of null COs. It is generally shown that the existence of timelike COs in SAS spacetime does not imply the existence of null COs, and vice-versa, regardless whether the spacetime is asymptotically flat or the ADM mass is positive or not. These results are then used to show the existence of timelike COs and their stability in an SAS Einstein-Yang-Mills-Dilaton spacetimes whose metric is not completely known. We also used the theorems to deduce the existence of timelike and null COs in some known SAS spacetimes.  相似文献

By computing the Lyapunov exponent, which is the inverse of the instability time scale associated with this geodesic motion we show that for a general Kehagias-Sfetsos (KS) solution, there is two region of space which in both of them the equatorial timelike geodesics are stable via Lyapunov measure of stability.  相似文献

The existence and stability of circular orbits (CO) in static and spherically symmetric (SSS) spacetime are important because of their practical and potential usefulness. In this paper, using the fixed point method, we first prove a necessary and sufficient condition on the metric function for the existence of timelike COs in SSS spacetimes. After analyzing the asymptotic behavior of the metric, we then show that asymptotic flat SSS spacetime that corresponds to a negative Newtonian potential at large r will always allow the existence of CO. The stability of the CO in a general SSS spacetime is then studied using the Lyapunov exponent method. Two sufficient conditions on the (in)stability of the COs are obtained. For null geodesics, a sufficient condition on the metric function for the (in)stability of null CO is also obtained. We then illustrate one powerful application of these results by showing that three SSS spacetimes whose metric function is not completely known will allow the existence of timelike and/or null COs. We also used our results to assert the existence and (in)stabilities of a number of known SSS metrics.  相似文献

We study the motion of bound null geodesics with fixed coordinate radius around a five-dimensional rotating black hole. These spherical photon orbits are not confined to a plane, and can exhibit interesting quasiperiodic behaviour. We provide necessary conditions for the existence of these orbits, and explicitly compute the radii of circular orbits in the equatorial and polar planes. Finally, we plot representative examples of some of the types of possible orbits, commenting on their qualitative features.  相似文献

The equations of motion of compact binary systems have been derived in the post-Newtonian (PN) approximation of general relativity. The current level of accuracy is 3.5PN order. The conservative part of the equations of motion (neglecting the radiation reaction damping terms) is deducible from a generalized Lagrangian in harmonic coordinates, or equivalently from an ordinary Hamiltonian in ADM coordinates. As an application, we investigate the problem of the dynamical stability of circular binary orbits against gravitational perturbations up to the 3PN order. We find that there is no innermost stable circular orbit or ISCO at the 3PN order for equal masses. To cite this article: L. Blanchet, C. R. Physique 8 (2007).  相似文献

As an example of a dynamical cosmological black hole, a spacetime that describes an expanding black hole in the asymptotic background of the Einstein-de Sitter universe is constructed. The black hole is primordial in the sense that it forms ab initio with the big bang singularity and its expanding event horizon is represented by a conformal Killing horizon. The metric representing the black hole spacetime is obtained by applying a time dependent conformal transformation on the Schwarzschild metric, such that the result is an exact solution with a matter content described by a two-fluid source. Physical quantities such as the surface gravity and other effects like perihelion precession, light bending and circular orbits are studied in this spacetime and compared to their counterparts in the gravitational field of the isolated Schwarzschild black hole. No changes in the structure of null geodesics are recorded, but significant differences are obtained for timelike geodesics, particularly an increase in the perihelion precession and the non-existence of circular timelike orbits. The solution is expressed in the Newman-Penrose formalism.  相似文献

Here we consider accelerating and rotating charged Plebanski-Demianski (PD) class of black hole metric as a particle accelerator. We obtain the geodesic motions (timelike, null and spacelike) of particles in a non-equatorial plane around the PD black hole. We find the effective potential, energy, angular momentum, impact parameters, and discuss the circular orbit. We study the center of mass energy of two neutral particles falling from infinity to near the non-extremal horizons (event and Cauchy horizons), extremal horizon, accelerating horizons, and near the center of the PD black hole. Also, we study the collision of a particle and a massless photon. Then we find the center of mass energy due to the collision of two massless photons in the PD black hole background. We compute the redshift and blueshift of the emitted photons by massive particles while light signal travels along null geodesics towards the observer located far away from the source. We study the Penrose process, which occurs within the ergosphere, and examines the particle’s motion with its implications. Here, we analyze the PD black hole shadow’s apparent shape, which forms far away from the black hole. We study the possible visibility of the PD black hole through photon’s shadow and energy emission rate. We also investigate the effect on the shadow of the PD black hole in plasma for a distant observer. We study the strong gravitational lensing by PD black hole. Finally, we analyze the deflection angle, lens equation, position, magnification, Einstein ring and observables by taking the supermassive PD black hole in the Galaxy’s center.  相似文献

This paper aims to investigate the geodesic motion in the spacetime of a non-linear magnetic charged black hole surrounded by quintessence. By varying the Lagrangian corresponding to the metric, the orbital motion equation has been obtained. The effects of the magnetic charge $Q$, positive normalization factor $C$, angular momentum $b$, and energy $E$ on time-like and null geodesic motion are discussed from three aspects: orbital stability, orbital types, and circular orbits. By comparing the effects of the above parameters $C$, $b$ on the effective potential, it is found that quintessence has an impact on the types and stability of orbits. In addition, for time-like orbital motion, when $3.443113\leq b\leq6.392\,578$ (for fixed $C=0.0002$, $M = 1$, $Q=0.7$), there are bound orbits, and within this range, the stable circular orbits exist, and the radii of the innermost and outermost stable circular orbit are $r=5.912\,654$ and $r=56.745\,933$, respectively. For null orbital motion, the orbital types have only unstable circular orbit which occur at $r=2.951\,072$ ($E^{2}=E_{2}^{2}=0.4$), absorb orbits and escape orbits, but no stable circular orbits, and bound orbits.  相似文献

We study the radial motion along null geodesics in the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter and Kerr-de Sitter space-times. We analyze the properties of the effective potential and we discuss circular orbits. We find that:
1)  the radius of circular photon orbits in the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter space-times does not depend on the cosmological constant. We show also how this is related to properties of the optical reference geometry.
2)  For a specific range of the cosmological constant, photons with high impact parameter may travel radially between the cosmological horizon and the black hole horizon in the equatorial plane of the Kerr-de Sitter space-times.

Perjes and Israel and Wilson have given independently a new class of solutions of the sourcefree Einstein-Maxwell equations, which can be interpreted as the external gravitational and electromagnetic fields of a spinning source with unit specific charge. Starting from Zipoy's solutions in oblate and prolate spheroidal coordinates for the source-free gravitational field we generate some axially symmetric stationary solutions of the source-free Einstein-Maxwell equations by using Perjes' method. All these solutions become Euclidean at infinity. The asymptotic behavior and the singularity of the solutions are studied in order to gain some insight into the nature of the source. The solution in prolate spheroidal coordinates is found to contain closed timelike lines.  相似文献

In this article, we study the circular motion of particles and the well-known Penrose mechanism around a Kerr-Newman-Kasuya black hole spacetime. The inner and outer horizons, as well as ergosurfaces of the said black hole, are briefly examined under the effect of spin and dyonic charge. Moreover, by limiting our exploration to the equatorial plane, we discuss the characteristics of circular geodesics and investigate both photons, as well as marginally stable circular orbits. It is noted that black hole charge diminishing the radii of photon and marginally stable circular orbits. To investigate the nature of particle dynamics, we studied the effective potential and Lyapunov exponent. While inspecting the process of energy extraction, we derived the Wald inequality, which can help us to locate the energy limits of the Penrose process. Furthermore, we have found expressions for the negative energy states and the efficiency of energy extraction. The obtained result illustrates that both black hole rotation and dyonic charge contributes to the efficiency of energy extraction.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the influence of the dark energy on the time-like geodesic motion of a particle in Schwarzschild spacetime by analysing the behaviour of the effective potential which appears in an equation of motion. For the non-radial time-like geodesics, we find a bound orbit when the particle energy is in an appropriate range, and also find another possible orbit, which is that the particle drops straightly into the singularity of a black hole or escapes to infinity. For the radial time-like geodesics, we find an unstable circular orbit when the particle energy is the critical value, in which case it is possible for the particle to escape to infinity.  相似文献

The motion of test particles in polar orbit about the source of the Kerr field of gravity is studied, using Carter's first integrals for timelike geodesies in the Kerr space-time. Expressions giving the angular coordinates of such particles as functions of the radial one are derived, both for the case of a rotating black hole as well as for that of a naked singularity.  相似文献

An exact solution of Einstein’s equations representing the static gravitational field of a quasi-spherical source endowed with both mass and mass quadrupole moment is considered. It belongs to the Weyl class of solutions and reduces to the Schwarzschild solution when the quadrupole moment vanishes. The geometric properties of timelike circular orbits (including geodesics) in this spacetime are investigated. Moreover, a comparison between geodesic motion in the spacetime of a quasi-spherical source and non-geodesic motion of an extended body also endowed with both mass and mass quadrupole moment as described by Dixon’s model in the gravitational field of a Schwarzschild black hole is discussed. Certain “reciprocity relations” between the source and the particle parameters are obtained, providing a further argument in favor of the acceptability of Dixon’s model for extended bodies in general relativity.  相似文献
