In light of the interference experiment of Bose-Einstein condensates, we present an anharmonic external potential model to study ground state properties of Bose-Einstein condensates. The ground state energy and the chemical potential have been analytically obtained, which are lower than those in harmonic trap. Additionally, it is found that the anharmonic strength of the external potential has an important effect on density and velocity distributions of the ground state for the Thomas-Fermi model.  相似文献

We consider a possible second harmonic generation (SHG) of propagating collective excitations in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) with repulsive atom-atom interactions. We show that the phase-matching condition for the SHG can be fulfilled if the wave vectors and frequencies of the excitations are chosen adequately from different dispersion branches. We solve the nonlinear amplitude equations for the SHG derived using a method of multiple-scales and provide SHG solutions similar to those obtained for a SHG in nonlinear optical media. A possible experimental realization of the SHG for the propagating collective modes in a cigar-shaped two-component BEC is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper,the trial function method is extended to study the generalized nonlinear Schrdinger equation with timedependent coefficients.On the basis of a generalized traveling wave transformation and a trial function,we investigate the exact envelope traveling wave solutions of the generalized nonlinear Schrdinger equation with time-dependent coefficients.Taking advantage of solutions to trial function,we successfully obtain exact solutions for the generalized nonlinear Schrdinger equation with time-dependent coefficients under constraint conditions.  相似文献

The damping and frequency-shift in Landau mechanism of a quadrupole mode in a disc-shaped rubidium Bose–Einstein condensate are investigated by using the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov approximation. The practical relaxations of the elementary excitations and the orthometric relation among them are taken into account to obtain advisable calculation formula for damping as well as frequency-shift. The first approximation of Gaussian distribution function is employed for the ground-state wavefunction to suitably eliminate the divergence of the analytic three-mode coupling matrix elements.According to these methods, both Landau damping rate and frequency-shift of the quadrupole mode are analytically calculated. In addition, all the theoretical results agree with the experimental ones.  相似文献

The nonlinear Schrdinger equation with Kerr law nonlinearity in the two-frequency interference is studied by the numerical method.Chaos occurs easily due to the absence of damping.This phenomenon will cause the distortion in the process of information transmission.We find that fiber-optic transmit signals still present chaotic phenomena if the control intensity is smaller.With the increase of intensity,the fiber-optic signal can stay in a stable state in some regions.When the strength is suppressed to a certain value,an unstable phenomenon of the fiber-optic signal occurs.Moreover we discuss the sensitivities of the parameters to be controlled.The results show that the linear term coefficient and the environment of two quite different frequences have less effects on the fiber-optic transmission.Meanwhile the phenomena of vibration,attenuation and escape occur in some regions.  相似文献

We use the 1-fold Darboux transformation (DT) of an inhomogeneous nonlinear Schro¨dinger equation (INLSE) to construct the deformed-soliton, breather, and rogue wave solutions explicitly. Furthermore, the obtained first-order deformed rogue wave solution, which is derived from the deformed breather solution through the Taylor expansion, is different from the known rogue wave solution of the nonlinear Schro¨dinger equation (NLSE). The effect of inhomogeneity is fully reflected in the variable height of the deformed soliton and the curved background of the deformed breather and rogue wave. By suitably adjusting the physical parameter, we show that a desired shape of the rogue wave can be generated. In particular, the newly constructed rogue wave can be reduced to the corresponding rogue wave of the nonlinear Schro¨dinger equation under a suitable parametric condition.  相似文献

Soliton interaction and control using the dispersion-decreasing fibers with potential applications to the design of high-speed optical devices and ultralarge capacity transmission systems are investigated based on solving the variable-coefficient nonlinear Schr?dinger equation with symbolic computation. Via the Hirota method, analytic two- and three-soliton solutions for that model are obtained, with their relevant properties and features illustrated. Dispersion-decreasing fibers with different profiles are found to be able to control the soliton velocity. Additionally, through the asymptotic analysis for the two-soliton solutions, we point out that the interaction between two solitons is elastic. Finally, a new approach to controll the soliton interaction using the dispersion-decreasing fiber with the Gaussian profile is suggested.  相似文献

A class of analytical solitary-wave solutions to the generalized nonautonomous cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrdinger equation with time- and space-modulated coefficients and potentials are constructed using the similarity transformation technique. Constraints for the dispersion coefficient, the cubic and quintic nonlinearities, the external potential, and the gain (loss) coefficient are presented at the same time. Various shapes of analytical solitary-wave solutions which have important applications of physical interest are studied in detail, such as the solutions in Feshbach resonance management with harmonic potentials, Faraday-type waves in the optical lattice potentials, and localized solutions supported by the Gaussian-shaped nonlinearity. This paper considers the one-dimensional dissipative cubic nonlinear Schrdinger equation with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded domain.The equation is discretized in time by a linear implicit three-level central difference scheme,which has analogous discrete conservation laws of charge and energy.The convergence with two orders and the stability of the scheme are analysed using a priori estimates.Numerical tests show that the three-level scheme is more efficient.  相似文献

We explore the form of rogue wave solutions in a select set of case examples of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with variable coefficients. We focus on systems with constant dispersion, and present three different models that describe atomic Bose–Einstein condensates in different experimentally relevant settings. For these models, we identify exact rogue wave solutions. Our analytical findings are corroborated by direct numerical integration of the original equations, performed by two different schemes. Very good agreement between numerical results and analytical predictions for the emergence of the rogue waves is identified. Additionally, the nontrivial fate of small numerically induced perturbations to the exact rogue wave solutions is also discussed.  相似文献

With the rapid development of communication technology,optical fiber communication has become a key research area in communications.When there are two signals in the optical fiber,the transmission of them can be abstracted as a high-order coupled nonlinear Schr¨odinger system.In this paper,by using the Hirota’s method,we construct the bilinear forms,and study the analytical solution of three solitons in the case of focusing interactions.In addition,by adjusting different wave numbers for phase control,we further discuss the influence of wave numbers on soliton transmissions.It is verified that wave numbers k11,k21,k31,k22,and k32can control the fusion and fission of solitons.The results are beneficial to the study of all-optical switches and fiber lasers in nonlinear optics.  相似文献
